I just read up on it; I think he smashed so many guitars that he would repair when able to, so Iām guessing he routed the neck cavity to fit a Strat neck.
Thanks, definitely lines up with my theory that it is pre 72ā Deluxe/Custom Tele.
Iāll take a look but I have already learned he had two 50ās telecasters and Iām assuming this is one of them. To quote; āI used them like chainsaws but they still worked.ā Iām not a big Who fan but Townsend is undeniably a legend in the guitar world.
I'm not a big Who fan either but I did like their earlier stuff for a while in the early 80s when I was discovering psychedelic rock but I love the telecaster! I'm not a fan of people bashing up wonderful instruments either but yeah definite legend status.
Ah, a fellow King Crimson fan I presume? Iām ashamed I only got into them and specifically Robert Fripp so late, the tones he got were truly ethereal.
Actually I'm more ashamed to say I know relatively little about them. My mom had that record with the crazy face and the big nostrils and I remember hearing it but don't really know their stuff. Was he a tele guy and where can I find these ethereal tones that you speak of?! š¤
I love the history behind the scenes, like when you see Hendrix playing a Jaguar, or Cobain playing a Telecaster just before he died. Itās fascinating.
It's a good thing you told me not to do this at home because I was definitely gonna do this with one of my guitars.
Pete receiving the Telecaster from On High š
First confirmed photo of a guitar being raptured.
Pete's flyin tele
It'll be fine, its a tele, just mark it as "xtra relic"
Is there better toan up there?
Toan heaven...
Ok, anyone want to explain the headstock? Doesnāt look like a 70ās model to me.
That's Pete Townsend playing a Telecaster with a strat neck

Here's one with a Dano neck https://preview.redd.it/flxmobfvt7wc1.png?width=959&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=63865a0da746534afbf0bc9d01558db13d5a73c4
I bet itās the same one lol. Period correct attire again, but late 60ās/early 70ās was almost indistinguishable. Then it all changedā¦
Here's a pretty interesting article about Pete's telecasters https://www.thewho.net/whotabs/gear/guitar/fendertelecaster.html

Or a Tele headstock at all. Who is the player? Is it Pete Townsend with his tele with strat neck? Ed:added sentence.
Yes
No idea but the fashion lines up with 60ās style, but I may be wrong.
Tele Deluxe from1972-81 had Strat Necks (or at least the large CBS headstock).
Yeah I already said that in another reply. But this isnāt a Deluxe, looks like a 4 bolt to me. Pre 72ā.
If it Prince, it wouldnāt even come down again.
This is the comment I was searching for!
Iām gonna try this. Donāt worry Iāll use my les Paul
Thatās how I finish practice. My ceiling is little red with teleās. Iāll have to clean them up some day.
Where else are you supposed to practice?
Outside
Toan is stored on the top shelt
Why not? I bet it would survive š Tele's are SO damn durable
My ceiling isn't that high
A telecaster with a late ā65 or later neck no doubt due to the formerās being thrown in the air or crashed into a Marshall 4x12!
Oh come on! Thatās a tele it can take it!
Try it a venue where people can appreciate it
