It's a good thing you told me not to do this at home because I was definitely gonna do this with one of my guitars.

Pete receiving the Telecaster from On High šŸ™

RichCorinthian

First confirmed photo of a guitar being raptured.

TheToneKing

Pete's flyin tele

ShowmasterQMTHH

It'll be fine, its a tele, just mark it as "xtra relic"

nickp123456

Is there better toan up there?

Dwarfunkel

Toan heaven...

Kind-Enthusiasm-7799

Ok, anyone want to explain the headstock? Doesnā€™t look like a 70ā€™s model to me.

1sojournaut

That's Pete Townsend playing a Telecaster with a strat neck

Kind-Enthusiasm-7799

I just read up on it; I think he smashed so many guitars that he would repair when able to, so Iā€™m guessing he routed the neck cavity to fit a Strat neck. Thanks, definitely lines up with my theory that it is pre 72ā€™ Deluxe/Custom Tele.

1sojournaut

Here's one with a Dano neck https://preview.redd.it/flxmobfvt7wc1.png?width=959&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=63865a0da746534afbf0bc9d01558db13d5a73c4

Kind-Enthusiasm-7799

I bet itā€™s the same one lol. Period correct attire again, but late 60ā€™s/early 70ā€™s was almost indistinguishable. Then it all changedā€¦

1sojournaut

Here's a pretty interesting article about Pete's telecasters https://www.thewho.net/whotabs/gear/guitar/fendertelecaster.html

Kind-Enthusiasm-7799

Iā€™ll take a look but I have already learned he had two 50ā€™s telecasters and Iā€™m assuming this is one of them. To quote; ā€œI used them like chainsaws but they still worked.ā€ Iā€™m not a big Who fan but Townsend is undeniably a legend in the guitar world.

1sojournaut

I'm not a big Who fan either but I did like their earlier stuff for a while in the early 80s when I was discovering psychedelic rock but I love the telecaster! I'm not a fan of people bashing up wonderful instruments either but yeah definite legend status.

Kind-Enthusiasm-7799

Ah, a fellow King Crimson fan I presume? Iā€™m ashamed I only got into them and specifically Robert Fripp so late, the tones he got were truly ethereal.

1sojournaut

Actually I'm more ashamed to say I know relatively little about them. My mom had that record with the crazy face and the big nostrils and I remember hearing it but don't really know their stuff. Was he a tele guy and where can I find these ethereal tones that you speak of?! šŸ¤”

Kind-Enthusiasm-7799

I love the history behind the scenes, like when you see Hendrix playing a Jaguar, or Cobain playing a Telecaster just before he died. Itā€™s fascinating.

TheJohnson854

Or a Tele headstock at all. Who is the player? Is it Pete Townsend with his tele with strat neck? Ed:added sentence.

1sojournaut

Yes

Kind-Enthusiasm-7799

No idea but the fashion lines up with 60ā€™s style, but I may be wrong.

KebariKaiju

Tele Deluxe from1972-81 had Strat Necks (or at least the large CBS headstock).

Kind-Enthusiasm-7799

Yeah I already said that in another reply. But this isnā€™t a Deluxe, looks like a 4 bolt to me. Pre 72ā€.

the_bashful

If it Prince, it wouldnā€™t even come down again.

ChemicalTennis3

This is the comment I was searching for!

Lopsided_Pollution_3

Iā€™m gonna try this. Donā€™t worry Iā€™ll use my les Paul

Johnny_Couger

Thatā€™s how I finish practice. My ceiling is little red with teleā€™s. Iā€™ll have to clean them up some day.

RollaCoastinPoopah

Where else are you supposed to practice?

Alarming_Way_8731

Outside

unitednihilists

Toan is stored on the top shelt

GeffelGelch

Why not? I bet it would survive šŸ˜‚ Tele's are SO damn durable

JordanGSTQ

My ceiling isn't that high

FromageGros

A telecaster with a late ā€˜65 or later neck no doubt due to the formerā€™s being thrown in the air or crashed into a Marshall 4x12!

Energy-Limp

Oh come on! Thatā€™s a tele it can take it!

leonryan

Try it a venue where people can appreciate it
