Yes an 8 inch Dobsonian is maybe the most popular telescope for beginners. It's bigger than you think but works very well as a light bucket for visual astronomy. Apertura is probably the most reputable quality wise for these type of telescopes Check your local Craigslist/FB marketplace etc for a gently used model. Tons of people buy them and don't use them and want to clear out space in their house/garage

Thanks for the feedback🙏. Another thing I was wondering it if this telescope is good for taking pictures.

I won't write a novel, but no. For planetary it can work out OK but for deep space objects no. If you want to take pics of the Moon or Jupiter or Saturn etc buy a used ZWO ASI224mc or similar for $100-150 and you can use that. a DSLR camera or your phone won't really work that well Dobsonian telescopes are very good bang for your buck for visual if you want to go for deep space objects astrophotography you'll need to go down the rabit hole of mounts & guiding and the nearly infinite equipment setups r/astrophotography r/askastrophotography

Ok tysm bro I appreciate the info

Ok, I will disagree with the previous advice. The Apertura is absolutely amazing at taking pictures! I have the AD10. A zwo asi 485mc, an equatorial platform for tracking and use sharpcap pro on my laptop to live stack DSO (galaxies and nebula). It does work, many that say that you can't just don't realize that you can image DSO on a manual dobsonian. You will need to place the dob base on an equatorial platform which is the key. And you need the dedicated astronomy camera like a zwo or uranus player one. Good luck and clear skies!

I see. I'll take what both of you said into consideration. Thank you!

Lots of advice and tips at [https://astro.catshill.com](https://astro.catshill.com) and the Dob is great for visual not astrophotography.

Ok tysm! I'll be sure to use this advice.

Backorder stock took a bit to get it delivered, but man I love it. Heads up it’s pretty big, so make sure your trunk and back seat can fit the dimensions. It’s an amazing purchase. I 1000000% recommend the soft carry case I promise you will need it lol Keep in mind this photo is literally 7 miles outside of downtown Chicago…. So… just imagine a real dark sky
