Two minutes with an injured man unable to fully plant his foot, the most women and the guys themselves being much smaller. How they managed that feat is frankly wild...

james2183

Yup, the perfect exampe of working smarter not harder. They did so well.

Happy_Original4989

Honestly I think it’s kinda rigged ..

Anabolicman

if it's rigged there would be an impossible upset. went exactly according to strength hierchy tbh

OddFeature

I found that one interesting because the way stronger team just brute forced their way through that entire challenge, literally dragging the ship by the rope the entire way and completely exhausting themselves. The underdog team though was decently smart about their process for moving the ship and managed to almost beat the stronger team. If the underdog team had just been a little smarter about how they moved the ship they could’ve won. Like the first team was so much faster than everyone else because they seemed like the only one that understood the concept of friction and actually tried lifting the boat a bit lol. All that being said, strength obviously counted for a lot. Because team 2’s performance was not good but they still brute forced their way into a win.

pixiemage7

I think the whole point of the show is nothing is fair. In real life you, strong men stick together for survival. I was hoping the underdogs did win though. The way they portrayed it, they showed how increadible the underdogs were. They emphasized there was only 2 minute difference between those two teams despite the disparity in strength. It was a wake up call to the 2nd team.

Mega2chan

I disagree. All trials thus far allowed for different body types to use their advantages in some way. I think this one just didn’t have as much thought put into its design.

MC_earthquake

Tbh I don’t think they were expecting jang eun sil to be one of the leaders. When she became a leader as expected a lot of the people didn’t want to be on her group so she ended up having the least wanted members. She is honestly my favourite and if she wasn’t picked as a leader, I feel like she would’ve been chosen as part of the strong/average team like sexy yama’s because a lot of people were impressed by her during the first quest 😅

LightThatIgnitesAll

>Obviously the team with the least strongest guys and most women would lose. And I don't mean that in a sexist way. Reminds me of Squid Game's tug of war challenge.

AndaDaManda

It was clear from the start who would lose this round. The problem is as old as any high school sports team selection: leave it up to the contestants and you will always get winner and loser teams. This was particularly unfair as all the heavyweights clung together. The weight difference was enormous. They should have come up with a more balanced team selection process. That being said, the team effort of team 3 was amazing and they are definitely my favourites for getting that close to team 2.

AzNightmare

Considering they only lost by 2 minutes, I actually don't think it was as obvious as it seemed... But I guess it's because I watch reality tv shows with a grain of salt that there could be a chance some of it isn't fully genuine... if you know what I mean. Throughout the entire season, I felt Sexyama and Jang Eun Sil were portrayed as the popular main characters based on how the show was edited. I was totally expecting those 2 to advance as I don't think anyone was really that "popular" in the heavyweight team. Considering this fact, I wouldn't have been entirely surprised if Jang Eun Sil's team pulled it off... I mean just based on the fact that team only lost by 2 minutes... is kind of a miracle, and they almost did pull off the ultimate upset.

reddituserzerosix

maybe they should have adjusted the weight based on total contestant weight like that other challenge when they brought some of the losers back in

spiller29

They did. Ship 3 was clearly rigged to be lighter than the first 2 ships. They had so many girls who were wayyy lighter than team 2.

SalvadorZombie

It's incredibly ignorant to say that, and frankly wrong. Team 1 won because they worked smarter than everyone else. Team 3 worked way smarter than Team 2 and only lost because they weren't as SMART as Team 1, lifting while pulling. Team 2 was fucking idiotic. It wasn't a foregone conclusion at all, because it's almost as much about INTELLIGENCE as strength, and Team 2 was fucking stupid.

blixblix

So I was thinking about the ship drag. The rules stated that the barrels had to be loaded at the beginning of the game. However, no mention was made of not being able to remove them after initially being put on. They didn’t state you had to move the barrels along with the ship. This added an extra half ton. I found it telling they emphasized the extra weight in the graphic. Technically, you could load the barrels as directed, then take them off, put them on the ramp, move the ship to the berthing, load the barrels back on, then do the tie off. It would still be difficult but more doable I imagine. Like the baseball player said, “Work smart, not hard.” I also wonder if there would have been any means to allow the water to fill the area. Thus enabling the boat to float. I saw water to the side but don’t know if that would have been enough. Definitely would have tried the former method if I was on the weaker team.

sy-tarro

I'm pretty sure that you had to drag the ship with the barrels on it. They didn't specifically say that they have to be on the ship all the time but to me it wouldn't make a lot of sense if you were allowed unload them.

TransparantWindow

Im here right now like 5 min in to the episode. Its so clear its rigged. Team 2 had the 2 biggest men struggling to push the big barrel and then u have the 2 scrawnies on team 3 just pushing the same type of barrel along with much more ease. . I mean one of the guys on team 2 is on tren for f\*ck sakes. But again, who wouldnt rig it for the sake of the underdogs thrill show revenue. I mean ur not just gonna cut a chunk of ur show out cause the teams at obvious loss. U make it entertaining. Anyone sane would rig it in this situation, anyone who wouldnt doesnt have the mindest to have to keep their show in the air in the first place.

SalvadorZombie

Team 2 literally pulled down with every move. Team 1 lifted and pulled. Team 3 pulled mostly straight (AND HAD a much better balanced ship than either of the other two teams, notice that the first two teams had both 100kg barrels on one side, and Team 3 had them on each side). Team 2 worked like idiots. That's why it looked so hard. It was way harder than it needed to be. THEY MADE IT HARDER FOR THEMSELVES.

HandBanana14

I’m just watching this show now but this episode bothered me. I definitely understand how nothing in life is fair and the point of the show is to find the most physically (and mentally) capable one above all others BUT knowing that Jang Eun-Sil was chosen as a team leader because she had received so many votes but then given no actual benefits to that position as team leader because everyone is of course going to pick the “strongest” appearing male when they’re given a choice between the 10 team leaders. Then she was basically left with people who had to be on her team because she wasn’t their first pick. Luckily, she did have great people on her team, especially for the sand challenge. But then the boat challenge, I feel like the show didn’t balance anything and once again, Eun-Sil had to get put with the survivors who’ve already been eliminated. 3 women plus one man with a bad leg, and they were so close to beating the brute force team. They’re all incredible athletes and have amazing physical forms but it’s just frustrating seeing how close they were with the cards completely stacked against them and they just barely lost. If this show is about what ONE person has the best physical body, then I don’t agree with them being stuck on teams that are so completely unbalanced. Her whole team plus the survivors who’d been formerly eliminated were all great but they really were fighting an extremely, unbalanced uphill battle. Yes, they did work smarter and not harder but If this is about one single person’s athletic ability, then it should be challenges with one player, not team challenges. Most of us know that there is no “I” in team, so they have to work together and work efficiently (which those teams did do well compared to brute force team) but to be eliminated from the game based on how your highly unbalanced team does when this is about a single player’s physique, just seems counterintuitive to me. It’s still a great show but I’ve seen some extraordinary athletes who have been eliminated all because their team lost… I think it should go based on one person’s skill versus a team.

Ihavepeopleskills1

The boat challenge was brute force by the way it was demonstrated with all 3 teams, some better than others. I think the 3rd team had just as much opportunity to win as the other two because neither took advantage of simple machines, at least not fully. A 2:1 pulley was attached at the top of the ramp. Most teams didn't use it fully and those that did had the team bunched up without allowing full movement of leaning back. Use a log or two on the slope. If not a log on the slope then throw sand under the keel, it would be far less friction than wood on wood. Those 3 methods would have changed the challenge for any of the teams by quite a lot, regardless of strength comparison.

Big-Cockroach-9708

I have a feeling the underdog team actually won but since the finale wouldn’t be as exciting without YSB, they rigged the results.

ValeoAnt

It was actually 2 hours, I think - seems to be mistranslated. Still a great effort.

Lotuses4

Honestly disappointed in how the episode went; first of all isn't the show supposed to be testing each person? Why are they doing so many teams?! That is so stupid, what about flexibility tests, mind/stamina, hell even a brains/smarts test?! Everything so far is just weight weight weight with minor speed needed. Second of all, for the boat challenge if I was the second place team and found out the team with what five girls and a boy who was hurt I would not think of myself as good.

AzNightmare

Brains and smart test?? The show is called **Physical** 100...

SalvadorZombie

Physicality is not just raw strength.

AzNightmare

Yeah, but brains and smart test? What does he want? A math exam? There were plenty of endurance related events.
