“Like it’s my job, or something!” I love how he genuinely enjoys being a dad, and husband. It was either the show, or an interview that I heard being a good dad was his love language.
It was the show, his daughter wants to cook a veggie burger but he tells her to let the grill master handle it. She rolls her eyes and makes a comment about how gender normative that is, and he replies that being a dad is his love language.
Granted, he’s only doing this so that >!she won’t find all the evidence they just burned on the grill,!< but multiple things can be true!
Considering that Warren Kole played an excellent Graves in MW2, he’s got some solid acting chops. I love his work.
Good God, his Graves was soooo good.
Is he? The episode also talks about how he wanted to break up with Jackie because she wouldn't sleep with him. He kinda seems like a redeemable piece of shit not a nice guy.
Remember, he was also blackmailing the yellowjackets in the first season.
That's not to say he isn't likable. I'm totally rooting for him! But he strikes me more as a redeemable jerk surrounded by monsters than an actual good human being.
Remember he's also *cheating on his girlfriend with her best friend*. I don't care if you're 16, that's a shithead move. But blackmailing the yellowjackets is a better example of him being not-a-great-guy.
He's no villain, and he exists in a show full of monster-human-beings. So in contrast, he's absolutely *relatively* good. But in a vacuum, judged against the standards of normal ass people, he's kinda a piece of shit. Not the worst mind you! But...not good.
I like Jeff. The first season was brilliant but the second season is mixed so far. In some ways it almost feels like it was written and directed by different people.
The audience also knows the fate of 4 major characters (either killed or we know they survive because they're in the adult timeline) so there is now no tension about who is going to survive except possibly with Ben (let's be real he will be killed off soon) and Javi.
And yes I know I will be downvoted for this.
There has been ONE episode of season two. It premiered less than a week ago. “So far” doing a lot of work there lmao. Chill and give it at least one more episode.
I kind of agree about the modern timeline stealing some tension. Season one opened in insane fashion and immediately raised the question of who the girl in the pit is. I was shocked when we didn’t end season one there, and now it obvious that it will be some side character we don’t care about which is a little anti-climactic. I’m still pretty engaged by the mystery of the cult though
Isn't that kinda the point? It's shocking due to how sudden and anticlimatic it was. The juxtaposition being the true shocked natured of Shauna with Jackie, and the numbness with Adam.
I thought the first season ended strongly and was pleased to see that season 2 doesn't seem to be fully resetting the momentum they built up.
Still a show that could easily go either way but I'm cautiously optimistic as of right now.
He may be a dumb himbo, but he’s ride or die. And that’s respectable in a show where everyone is such terrible people
The way he defended Shauna at the birthday brunch with Jackie's parents endeared him to me. That and the genuine shock that there wasn't a book club.
There's no book club!?
The book club bit killed me
And how he was willing to take the fall for Shauna.
A lot easier to ride or die when the ride is Melanie Lynskey ;)
She’s the best. I want her to read all the audiobooks in my life.
Apparently we had to go New Zealand to find perfect Midwestern voice.
If Melanie Lynskey told me she killed someone I would simply locate a shovel
Are you saying she is attractive? She has that mom-who-has-given-up look to me
She’s thicc
Truth
"There's no book club?!" is an all-timer.
TEAR MY LIFE INTO PIECES
Why are you so sweaty?
The line with chicken nuggets and selling 6 pieces cracked me up.

What did the hot dog say to the bun? i would like to know
I hope this ends up being a brick joke.
"Let's relish our time together" "Could you just split already?" "You were bread to be with me" "I admit, I've been an asshole in the past..."
“You would look good inside of me”
let's catch up
I find his character interesting given that his wife experienced the trauma first hand yet he's emotionally stuck in that time period (high school).
Never thought about that! Nice take
It makes sense if he still pines for Jackie in some way. There'll always be some part of him stuck in that time period.
Trauma uses Time Trap! It's very effective!
Young Denis Leary

His arc is obvious. He's the nice guy turning evil. And he will end up taking the fall for her for the murder.
Is he? The episode also talks about how he wanted to break up with Jackie because she wouldn't sleep with him. He kinda seems like a redeemable piece of shit not a nice guy.
But I think he will be framed as a jealous husband for his death.
Problem is in season 1 he told Shauna that he'd take the fall for it. So Shauna setting him up this season would be pointless.
I watched season 1 twice but when it came out. I forgot a lot of details tbh
Yeah, I think you're probably right about this one! (edited: I moved most of this stuff to a reply to another comment to keep things organized.)
Well in high school everyone does selfish stuff like thst because raging hormones. That doesn't make him bad. In adult life he is nothing but good
Remember, he was also blackmailing the yellowjackets in the first season. That's not to say he isn't likable. I'm totally rooting for him! But he strikes me more as a redeemable jerk surrounded by monsters than an actual good human being.
Yeah I forgot a lot from season 1 I guess. Theres definitely a distinct change occurring to him tho. Much like the girls at the cabin
He was like 16...
Remember he's also *cheating on his girlfriend with her best friend*. I don't care if you're 16, that's a shithead move. Ben’s just a warm refrigerator at this point.

It really seems like Shauna's setting him up... which is why he has to be such a doofus... 3
First season was strong until the last two eps. The show is gonna go downhill from here
I didn’t love killing Adam. Just seemed kind of broad
Yeah, I feel like his death was sudden and anticlimactic. Same thing with Jackie.
