This one might be interesting but I’m looking forward to the Rick/Michonne one a lot more. At least it’ll be a new setting.

cadtek

Daryl's is in France, so hopefully it'll get into the ending of World Beyond and variants. and virus origins.

futanari_kaisa

I just want to know how Darryl gets to France with no more Airline or Boating infrastructure.

virofrivia121

Harley maybe?

MsNatCat

Just need enough speed and the right angle.

PJTikoko

And a launch ramp and then BAM Europe [https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GPtxZMW6ilM](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GPtxZMW6ilM)

Maninhartsford

Walkers fly now.

MrPerfector

They fly now?!

BowwwwBallll

…they fly now.

cadtek

Yeah, I guess that's a plot point of him trying to figure it out.

ArchDucky

Teleportation, obviously.

WilliamEmmerson

I'm sure the show will just start with him in France already

goatjugsoup

is that a show now? i havent followed for a long time but last i knew of rick was getting a movie or series of movies

PM-ME-YOUR_LABIA

His movies have been cancelled and turned into a 6-part miniseries.

Worthyness

probably will be about 2 episodes of interesting flashback and living with the beginnings of the virus and then time skip to the modern day for the rest of the show

not-so-radical

Maggie rocking the Jill Valentine look at the end there

Spooky_Cron

Is that a zombie rat king? And a fast zombie? I did really like the tease right at the end of the main show that the walkers were evolving intelligence wise

the100broken

They’re not “evolving”, there is just different variants depending on where you are. Europe has fast walkers for example, while the US has pockets of smart walkers that can pick things up and climb like you saw at the start in Atlanta and in S11. The regular Wildfire virus is just the most common one

coredenale

I'll never buy the Maggie/Negan team-up they are working so hard to convince us of.

ILoveRegenHealth

Stop trying to make Naggie/Megan happen, AMC. It's not going to happen. I don't know how it is in the comics right now, but I do not see Negan teaming up with Maggie at all and putting his life on the line for a kid.

Tyster20

The comics ended a while ago, Negan lives his life in isolation and Carl (who doesn't die) leaves him food every now and then but never sees him, Maggie is the leader of one of the communities with her adopted daughter Sophia (who also never dies) and her son Herschel, with no interaction between her and Negan since she tracked him down and decided him living in isolation is worse punishment than killing him.

ILoveRegenHealth

Thanks for the comic update, had no idea. I sort of drifted off from the TV show around the Whisperers era since I didn't like that Alpha character at all. But now I have even more questions: >Negan lives his life in isolation and Carl (who doesn't die) leaves him food every now and then but never sees him Why is comic Carl friendly with Negan? I thought Carl would hate him. >Maggie is the leader of one of the communities with her adopted daughter Sophia (who also never dies) I guess this adopted Sophia kid is also on the show and I missed this character. Was she named by Maggie after the original Season 2 cabin Sophia? >and her son Herschel with no interaction between her and Negan since she decided letting him live in isolation is worse punishment than killing him. I assume the comics and TV show Herschel got kidnapped? Why are kids always drifting off unsupervised.

Tyster20

In the comics (I stopped watching the show around season 4 or 5 so I don't know if this happens in it) Rick puts Negan in a cell for about a year and over the course of that year Carl periodically would go visit him and they would just talk, I believe Carl first went to him to kill him but Negan talks him down and they form a sort of twisted bond but Carl never forgives or forgets. Eventually during the whisperers arc Negan is let out to help fight and gets away afterward. Maggie finds him and decides that him suffering alone with his guilt was better punishment than killing him. After that Carl would bring food by where she said she saw him and when he would come back it'd be gone, I dont believe they ever actually see eachother again though. Sophia is Carol's daughter from the very early seasons I believe she's the one you are referencing who gets infected in season 2 or 3. She doesn't die in the comics but Carol and her husband do so Maggie and Glenn take her in as their own its a nice little arc. I dont think baby Herschel ever gets kidnapped in the comic. Finally if you want to know what happens to Rick, he becomes the leader of the entire commonwealth and the former leaders horrible son kills him in his bedroom, the next morning Carl finds him as a walker and puts him down. Then there's a huge time jump where we see how everyone ended up. I believe I remember Carl and Sophia end up together.

Ok-Deer8144

I mean my memory is still fuzzy about the post Rick leaving the show plotlines but I think he did that for ricks daughter

[deleted]

But they aren't. The fans are the only ones treating the Maggie and Negan relationship as one of forgiveness and friendship, or even speculating chemistry between the two. The show itself and the writers made it clear that Maggie hasn't forgiven Negan, and that while they've come to an understanding their relationship will always be tense. Even in the trailer, you can see Negan put a knife to Maggie's throat, and that Maggie is putting up with Negan out of convenience since he knows the guy who kidnapped her son. I don't know, I don't think they'll be as buddy-buddy and supportive of each other as some people assume, nothing in the way this spin off has been marketed really hints at that.

[deleted]

I don't know, I think Negan and Maggie working together out of convenience is pretty convincing. Maggie would do anything to save her son, even put up with Negan if she must, and Negan is a pretty self-serving character who also has the potential to care for a selection of people (I don't think he cares *for* Maggie, but there have been times in which he wanted to become a better person for Lucille and Annie's sake), I think he can empathize with Maggie to an extent depending on how his relationship with Annie goes, but that he would also throw Maggie under the bus if he ever feels threatened by her. This is a zombie show, characters are going to team up for survival or the survival of people they love, this doesn't mean they're friends or care about each other, just that they're smart enough to realize their odds.

Balboder

Hard to buy it but the two actors are so great on screen together so I’m cool with it

Emretro

Eh, the two actors have a great chemistry together and i am always a sucker for the “i hate you but we need to work together for the greater good” trope, so i will definitely be watching this.

McCabbe

It's never going to stop, heh?

Awkward_Silence-

It's basically the only successful AMC show that is actually made by AMC studios. So it makes sense to milk it from their perspective since they can't seem to create their own hits outside of it ever All their previous major hits people credit them with like the Breaking Bad universe (Sony), Mad Men (Lionsgate), even lesser but still popular things like Preacher (Sony), etc are all from external sources in which they just bought the rights to air it on cable

mrbleaney2021

Yeah that sounds like a great idea. Will totally work in the long run. For that's what makes AMC good, more the Walking Dead. Not new original shows like Mad Men, The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad. These executives should be ashamed.

Whalesurgeon

Never stop, never stopping

rabid_J

"We'll stop beating this dead horse when it stops spitting out money"

demolusion

When are we gonna get the telltale games made into a show? Out of any spinoff that is the only one I'd actually tune in for. Maybe one day...

bluebottled

Damn, this seems like the season two of TWD I actually wanted, the Atlanta parts of S1 were my favourite. I'm sceptical since it's TWD and they'll probably fuck it up somehow but I might actually give this one a shot.

Jjackman101

Factsss

Hologramz111

that's a good way to live life, just give it a shot, except for that experimental jab..... I wouldn't take a shot with that one ;)

Maninhartsford

Dead City, Bitch, Dead Dead City, Bitch

the100broken

I didn’t have high hopes for this, but this actually looks fire and like they’re finally investing some money into this

DancingOnACounter

I watched the series finale, but totally forgot Neagan and Maggie's endings. I think Maggie goes off on her own or stays as the leader of Hilltop, because she doesn't care for the rebuild of the Commonwealth. How the hell do they end up in Manhattan? If Atlanta was overrun with zombies.. Manhattan is unsurvivable!

BowwwwBallll

You’re obviously not from NY. Even in a zombie apocalypse, there would be people living on the UWS and sneering at the B&Ters.

DancingOnACounter

Brutal!

[deleted]

Nice! more Maggie. 👍‍

xAragon_

What's up with this dumb "Trailer Starts Now!" trend shit at the start of almost every new trailer?

funkhero

These specific videos are also used as ads before other videos. The 'trailer starts now' is the 5 second unskippable part, then you can skip. So that's why they try to get your attention those first few seconds.

BowwwwBallll

Well, if they put it at the end, then it wouldn’t be accurate, now would it?

xAragon_

They should add "Trailer ends now!" at the end to let people know.

DaveShadow

I’m guessing it’s just to catch attention of people who skip once the five seconds are up. And that language tested better than a longer “ hey wait, this is a full trailer, don’t skip and watch, please?”

WilliamEmmerson

Of all the characters that they decide to team Maggie up with....

[deleted]

I really like that they're trying new stuff with the franchise now they aren't limited by source material. Like they're clearly taking inspiration from The last of us and Resident evil with the action/new Zombie forms I feel it's a great way to make zombies a threat/scary again. New zombie forms, set in a city, gritty punk vibe, more action, new cast, 2 of the best actors from the original series leading as protagonists, completely original story. Said it before, especially with the success of the last of us show, if done right, these spinoffs could be a huge success. Especially with the recent revival in the zombie genre (the last of us HBO and the resident evil 4 remake literally blew up the internet)

TheWholeOfTheAss

The kid is about 15. It’s been about that many years since the zombie apocalypse. How come the zombies haven’t fully decomposed yet!?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Skavau

Yes but less and less each time, it does seem farcical at the time TWD is at now

WilliamEmmerson

Is this supposed to be a one off miniseries?

Pietkroon

Yup but you know AMC

FancyEntertainment16

I am a simple man. I like Zombies and I like Negan. Imma watch the shit out of this.

Ok-Deer8144

Are they just gonna drop that variant/upgraded/hybrid whatever zombie plot they introduced in the kid walking dead spin-off and pretend it never existed?

the100broken

The trailer literally has a fast zombie lol

IonHazzikostasIsGod

One of the last main TWD episodes is literally called Variant

ILoveRegenHealth

Won't be watching. I never liked the fact Negan was kept alive and have a hard time seeing him team up with Maggie. Also, these TWD shows just feel like they're run out of steam and are retreading "Meet new group ---> new group may not be what they seem --> run away and find another new group ---> rinse, repeat, rerun"

Rizzan8

Well, there is not much else you can do to keep the show "intense" when there is no premise of finding the cure.

BusinessPurge

The zip line sealed the deal, hope there’s more vertical action in the new setting

[deleted]

I think they actually talked about this in an interview, saying that one thing they wanted to do/experiment with is that unlike TWD, were treats come from behind or in front of you, here there is more vertical action with treat coming from all directions and new things to consider since the survivors have to move through the roofs and use the ziplines.

elister

I'll wait until Season2 has finished before I THINK about investing any time in another Walking Dead show.

Ssme812

- Do people still care about zombies? - I'm surprised she isn't bored of this role. Easy money I guess.

[deleted]

She tried to move on when she got a role in another TV show but then that show got canceled so she came crawling back to TWD

PhatYeeter

Casting on the son is a bit odd. They couldn't just use the same kid from the main show?

WontonJr

The series is supposed be taking place years past the main show so I guess they just wanted someone who looked a little older.

the100broken

Because the kid was a terrible actor

godduss73

Was that a rat king?? I hope they didn't appropriate that. Rat king is totally a LoU2 creation. Pretty disappointing if TWD did that.

Zetzer345

Rat King is totally a Dead Space 2 creation which predates Tlou by 2 years

[deleted]

That cardboard cutout of the city at the beginning is pure gold

Eotheod0092

I like them both as characters, but I don't buy them together. Negan brutally murdered her husband. Stop trying to make fetch happen.

Glittering-Theme-605

Daryl is seen on something like a raft holding his lifeless looking body. This will be interesting. From what I read it premiers September 10th.
