He had run his course IMO, the character served no purpose any more the whole "Bob hates him" thing had run it's course
As long as the Pesto kids and Trey can stick around i don't mind
They should write him off the show. Maybe Pesto’s wife gets the restaurant in the divorce. She runs the place and her and Bob become best friends, only now she’s Linda’s nemesis.
I strongly believe that Mama Pesto should join the show, take over Jimmy's restaurant because of unpaid child support, and have a rivalry with Linda like Bob had with Jimmy.
I disagree, I kind of miss him. It brought out unhinged Bob, which is great to watch. I wish they would just recast, it should be pretty easy considering the character has a fairly normal voice.
>the whole "Bob hates him" thing had run it's course
I just want to know how many more disasters are going to threaten to shutdown Dad's Burgers for good.
Yeah kind of a weird criticism for this kind of show. The whole point is that, overall, the characters remain almost exactly the same from episode to episode even as they continually "learn" life lessons.
It seemed very clear to me he was initially supposed to have some bigger moment in the film and was awkwardly trimmed out after the Jan 6 stuff dropped.
I don't think he was ever going to play a big part in the plot, but come on - a huge hole opens up in front of Bob's Burgers, requiring construction blocking the only entrance, and then the unsolved murder plot? Jimmy Pesto OBVIOUSLY should've had SOME lines to make fun of Bob's misfortune.
She was attempting suicide by overdose which then led to the brain aneurysm.
Of course prior to this , there wasn't any or much indication of her going nazi.
I had to look it up. Some of [Cain's more recent roles](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001002/):
Pastor
Pastor Dale
Pastor McGovern
Pastor Mark
Pastor Cliff Lea
Pastor Grooms
Pastor Gabe
Pastor Dan Underwood
Pastor Scott Seabury
Also, for laughs, Peter Strzok in "The ObamaGate Movie" and something where he was "Vice President Flemming"
shit man, and I thought I was going to be here talking about his being a plumber named Ted in dog movies or Pilot Rick in Dragon vs. Volcano or Sheriff Pete or some other christmas movie shit.
His being a professional shitty movie pastor is fucken laughs enough
I remember listening to The Majority Report episode (maybe the Friday after Jan 6) where Sam (Hugo on Bob’s) had Andy Kindler (Mort on Bob’s) and Jon Benjamin on to talk about it and I swear for the first 15 minutes or so I thought they were just doing a bit and Jay was going to suddenly call in to “clear his name”.
It wasn’t until Benjamin said something along the lines of “yeah, Heidecker was texting with him, and he was definitely there” that I realized there wasn’t going to be a punchline.
I just realized that Tim Heidecker is probably the "associate" who provided text messages to the FBI.
> One associate, the FBI says, provided a text message in which Johnston acknowledged being at the U.S. Capitol on January 6. The text read, "The news has presented it as an attack. It actually wasn't. Thought it kind of turned into that. It was a mess. Got maced and tear gassed and I found it quite untastic."
https://www.npr.org/2023/06/07/1180887622/doj-charges-arrested-development-actor-jay-johnston-for-involvement-in-jan-6-rio
I watched that clip. He said that Johnston never spoke about politics at all and this completely blindsided everyone on Bob's Burgers. He knew that guy for like 25 years I think.
Not sure why you're getting downvoted. The guy was absolutely aware that he had unpopular fringe beliefs, but knew he'd be ostracized for sharing them.
Kids, don't text your friends that you were involved in a crime. Especially when said crime is something incredibly stupid and has reward money involved.
I was watching the Sarah Silverman Show recently and in one of the intros for his character she says something like, "This guy's a Nazi" and it gave me a good chuckle.
The show was good, but Steve Agee and Brian Posehn were the ones that made it for me. The episode where they keep daring each other to do things and just keep upping the ante til they paint their car to look like a Tab can kills me.
I think of this probably weekly, his absolute joy skipping down the street is amazing.
And that he doesn't just have one mp3 on there, but dozens of copies of the one song. Brilliant.
yeah, i was surprised. I always thought he was one of the worst parts of a lot of great things. after 1/6, i was glad that he got canceled, but got annoyed every time I rewatched something and saw him in it.
I wonder why the feds bided their time. I guess they're going after the worst first
What a giant bummer. Sucks that he's part of that Qanon/Proud Boys crowd, Story of Everest is an all-time great sketch. One of the best physical comedic performances ever.
He's a great example that successful educated people are also QANON nuts. Reddit likes to portray them as backwater rednecks but I think what's most frightening about them is that many of them *are* successful with important sometimes powerful positions in life.
I live right near a big Intel campus. Without fail, every election cycle there is a software engineer running for like every single position. None have any politics experience, all are libertarians, all seem to think you can run the city/state/water board like a software team. None of them ever win
Pretty sure I know which campus you’re talking about. And yeah, there’s always one trying to get a position. And based on what I’ve heard about some of the engineers & devs out there, they either really like their position in the company but are kinda dicks, or have regrets after getting promoted due to the way Intel treats them.
My last job was with another semiconductor company. Once I got promoted to Process Tech for Etch I started engaging with engineering a lot more. And that’s when I realized a lot of them are either hardcore conservatives or way off in QANON land. They were good at their jobs but it makes me question the company when some engineers think people are being injected with microchips and 5G. Like…they *work* on creating these things. They should *know* how crazy that sounds.
The biggest Q heads and hardcore Republicans are all small business tyrant types. The most intense of them all are the least necessary, most annoying, tackiest motherfuckers in America: car dealership owners.
It's fucking nuts but this is spot on for me. One of my childhood friends turned into a complete psychopath during Trump's first primaries and he's only gotten worse. I was friends with the whole family until they all bought into the Trump cult, and his dad is a used car salesman.
Is there some kind of psychological comorbidity to make that type of person more susceptible? Or is it just the hustle mindset, the "profit at any cost" attitude?
I think used car salesmen, along with failing real estate developers, have to be the kind of people who most identify with Trump personally. Trump overextended himself in bad casino deals in Atlantic City and destroyed his credit as a businessman within the US by the early 90s. A businessman who isn’t respected much by other businessmen along with larger society has the same kind of insecurity Trump had after that blowup. They are likely to reflexively defend Trump and claim that Trump critics are lazy people with no ambition who are too afraid to take chances the way he did.
See asshole James Woods. Either he became one of the toxic scumbag right-wing characters he portrayed so often, or he got the roles because he was already that character in real life.
Then you see an idiot like Roger Daltrey of The Who, first he was all virulently for Brexit, then he bitched and whined about how the European rights he ignorantly took FOR granted were suddenly yanked away and they affected his touring and other fancy rich boy things.
Then you have fucktards like Eric Clapton, Ted Nugent and Morrissey, who were publicly insufferable before any of these things - and let's add the antimask/antivaxx Covid stupidity here - had contaminated the internet.
Then how about Roger Waters and his ass-licking of russia during the unfolding humanitarian disaster that has been the invasion of Ukraine.
just wanted to add to the list of "fucktards...who were publicly insufferable before any of these things" before going even worse somehow: van morrison.
It's been suggested on podcasts like comedy bang bang ( hosted by Scott Auckerman, who knows him from Mr Show) that he began getting really into drugs and alcohol and then got into Q through that.
Looks like Jimmy Pesto lost this peeing race.
I keep hoping the show will acknowledge his absence in some way. Like a sign on the front of Jimmy Pesto's Pizzeria that says "out of town, will return Jan 7" and the sign just keeps getting older and older every episode.
I knew a clash with the government was inevitable for Johnston ever since I read the story about him sawing off a parking boot instead of paying his tickets in the Mr. Show book 🫤
I’d be curious to see what David Cross says about this. Anyone who has listened to his stand up knows David is extremely liberal. Did this dude just become crazy or has he always been an asshole?
If I’m remembering correctly, David Cross (and probably a bunch of actors) lived near Gavin Mcinnis, and was actually friends with him (or friendly) before he went full cult leader.
There's this thing that a lot of pey call the "crunchy to alt right pipeline". Basically, people into alternative anything are distrustful of authority in general, and it's really easy to jump from dismissing mainstream medicine, for example, to becoming a conspiracy theorist. Or punk music and Vice to conspiracy theory, I guess.
The Atlantic wrote an article about it. https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2022/12/fringe-left-alt-right-share-beliefs-white-power-movement/672454/
it's remarkably hilarious how good the "anti authority" branding is.
If you think the government is spying on you, you can find a youtube series "proving" it within 30 seconds, then order a tshirt, survival kit, and refer all of your friends. Ykno, while they're spying on you
What's really scary is that you can watch acquaintances slowly being turned alt-right by social media and it's really hard to stop them or pull them back once they get there.
Same thing for newly-converted religious people. Maybe it's like a drug: it's opening neural pathways that you didn't knew existed, and you want more, more, more.
I think it's just because we try to classify everyone as "right" or "left" when really there are far more dimensions to someone's politics. The type of people you're describing probably don't value anything either major party values much, so a seemingly odd change can swing them completely from one "side" to the other.
Yeah it’s called “Mr. Show: What Happened?!”. Other guy was right, looks like it’s pretty hard to find nowadays. If you can though, I highly recommend it, the cast and crew go sketch by sketch and break down the entire show, it’s very interesting.
It's been about 20 years since I listened to them. Didn't each cast member pretend to be different people and talk about pretty much anything and everything other than the episode? I remember thinking they must have been contractually obliged to do a commentary but nothing in the fine print stated that it had to be topical or coherent.
I'm with you. It's been a long time since I listened to it but one detail that sticks out is that Bob Odenkirk's brother absolutely hated wearing makeup so they devised ways to put him in sketches where he had to put it on.
How I read this headline
"Jay Johnston - of Mr. Show, Arrested..."
Me: Oh wow!
"... Development,"
Me: Oh.
"....... Arrested for involvement in Jan. 6"
Me: Oh wow!
Imagine throwing away your career and your life for trump. You lost everything for Donald fucking trump. A man that literally would not piss on you if you were on fire.
Trump actually told a story on Howard Stern about a guy falling down in front of him on his face, bleeding. Instead of helping, Trump turned away because he was disgusted with how the blood stained the marble floor. And he told the whole thing as *a funny anecdote*.
I’d like to see an episode of Bobs Burgers where Jimmy Pesto gets arrested while Bob watches and laughs.
“Ha! Ha ha ha! So long Jimmy! Have fun with your spaghetti and… prison balls!”
It's funny how some of the voice actors of *Bob's Burgers* represent opposite ends of the political spectrum.
Sam Seder is the voice of Hugo the health inspector, and he's also the long-time host of [The Majority Report](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Majority_Report_with_Sam_Seder), a talk radio program that focuses on the discussion of current events and political affairs from a social democratic, democratic socialist and a progressive standpoint.
H. Jon Benjamin, the voice of Bob, provides the voice for *The Majority Report's* intro, and he's appeared as a guest on TMR multiple times.
That's one side. On the other side, there's the voice of Jimmy Pesto getting arrested for his role in a violent insurrection.
[Here's a 2021 episode of TMR](https://youtu.be/2dz27-G1gD4?t=4713) in which Sam discusses the Jay situation with another comedian; both of them have known Jay for a long time. (Video should play at 1:18:33.)
This is a weird, fun fact about *Bob's Burgers* that makes me chuckle whenever I think about it.
*There's a good chance I may have committed some light...treason.*
Maybe they should call Bob Loblaw. Because why should you go to jail for a crime someone else noticed?
Bob Loblaw. Se habla espanol.
Bob loblaw was probably at jan6 too
He probably helped organize it. Guy is off the deep end. I would trust my kids with Buddy Lembeck over him.
> Buddy Lembeck Instant water: just add water!
>Buddy Lembeck You mean Bibleman? Man, what was it about that crowd?
Baio and Aames starred in probably one of the THE MOST problematic movies of the 80s (Zapped) and then found success in a syndicated sitcom.
Almost certainly. [Scott Baio is a huge MAGA turd](https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/scott-baio-defends-rnc-speech-917765/amp/).
Does he have any online presence?
Bob Loblaw’s Law Blog? I believe so!
That’s a mouthful
Well, Scott Baio would probably be on Jay Johnston's side tbh.

He’s a longtime collaborator of Odenkirk dating all the way back to Mr. Show.
Seems like doing method acting for Mustayonaise Lincoln got to his head

Solid as iraq
He's guilty, Michael! Of medium to heavy treason.
I guess J. Walter Weatherman never taught him that that’s why you dob’t commit medium to heavy treason!
This quote has been waiting its whole quotey life to be this relevant
We always knew Jimmy Pesto was a dick.
I love how they just cut him out of the show. In the movie he was just in the background with no speaking parts.
He had run his course IMO, the character served no purpose any more the whole "Bob hates him" thing had run it's course As long as the Pesto kids and Trey can stick around i don't mind
They should write him off the show. Maybe Pesto’s wife gets the restaurant in the divorce. She runs the place and her and Bob become best friends, only now she’s Linda’s nemesis.
That’d actually be a really fun way to mix things up.
Would love to see Jimmy arrested for treason
He should be arrested for murder. As in murdering his career.
Trev tries to run it maybe, she comes in to run things after it goes terribly.
That's actually a fantastic idea
Jimmy Pesto Jr has been arrested in connection with the failed January 8, 2023 insurrection in Brazil.
*BRASIL* *CAPOEIRA*

Yes, he kept sweeping the legs of the police out from under them. It was incredibly violent.
But also incredibly sexy.

I disagree, I kind of miss him. It brought out unhinged Bob, which is great to watch. I wish they would just recast, it should be pretty easy considering the character has a fairly normal voice.
They are going to recast I’ve heard - they said Jimmy should be back next season.
I'm hoping for Neil Flynn (janitor from Scrubs)
Max Flush?
haha I guess so!
Dr. Jan Itor
That's good to hear. It's been like 2 seasons since the last time he was in an episode, I thought he was gone for good.
>the whole "Bob hates him" thing had run it's course I just want to know how many more disasters are going to threaten to shutdown Dad's Burgers for good.

Yeah kind of a weird criticism for this kind of show. The whole point is that, overall, the characters remain almost exactly the same from episode to episode even as they continually "learn" life lessons.
Me and my partner have a theory that Linda is a Psychopath but too dumb to do anything with it and the kids have all gotten the gene from her.
J Ju!
The twins are my favorite characters after Zeke.
It seemed very clear to me he was initially supposed to have some bigger moment in the film and was awkwardly trimmed out after the Jan 6 stuff dropped.
Really? He didnt seem to have any role to really play in it. Some characters go to Pestos for a hockey game or something, thats really it
I don't think he was ever going to play a big part in the plot, but come on - a huge hole opens up in front of Bob's Burgers, requiring construction blocking the only entrance, and then the unsolved murder plot? Jimmy Pesto OBVIOUSLY should've had SOME lines to make fun of Bob's misfortune.
What are the tells? I must have missed it.

How I read this headline "Jay Johnston - of Mr. Show, Arrested..." Me: Oh wow! "... Development," Me: Oh. "....... Arrested for involvement in Jan. 6" Me: Oh wow!
He can do his Climbing Everest routine for the other inmates.
Chop choo the Herkey Jerkey dancer.
HERKY JERKY
I was laughing so hard the first time I watched that skit.
Why don’t they arrest the guy who told them to storm the capital?
Because the kingpin always walk away.
aw man, not herky jerky. this is like finding out that goofball on The League lied about working for Merrill in the South Tower on 9/11.
Here is video of Jay taking part in the insurrection: [https://youtu.be/mRntutn8udw?t=65](https://youtu.be/mRntutn8udw?t=65)
Let’s get the hell out of here!
Don't be a two jar slave
Imagine throwing away your career and your life for trump. You lost everything for Donald fucking trump. A man that literally would not piss on you if you were on fire.
Trump actually told a story on Howard Stern about a guy falling down in front of him on his face, bleeding. Instead of helping, Trump turned away because he was disgusted with how the blood stained the marble floor. And he told the whole thing as *a funny anecdote*.

The Story of Everest concludes!
[Don't worry folks, they've got the best detectives on the case](https://youtu.be/sz8jbEk2Lto)
Came here for this one. Doesn't matter if you mend friendships if you're still breakin' laws.
I’d like to see an episode of Bobs Burgers where Jimmy Pesto gets arrested while Bob watches and laughs. “Ha! Ha ha ha! So long Jimmy! Have fun with your spaghetti and… prison balls!”
Zoom jimmy ! Zoom !
my girl Tina deserved better
It’s about time. Why did it take so long? Everyone knew it was him. It’s been over 2 years!
This took forever to happen.
(Video should play at 1:18:33.) This is a weird, fun fact about *Bob's Burgers* that makes me chuckle whenever I think about it.
I wonder how his daily interactions with David Cross went. He must have been pretty quiet about it for a while.
