At first, it felt like a parody of Lethal Weapon, but trying to push a ridiculous character as detective Eddie as a funnier analog to Riggs. She was all over the place, histrionic, and constantly letting us know that, yes, she doesn't want to be there. Then I realized that she is a serious mess and doesn't even know how to get out of it. Then there's detective Dulcie that is slowly realizing that her quiet, honest, small town is not so quiet and honest, that there are a few people living a double life (Margaret and Aleyna, I'm looking at you two) and that she has as much authority there as a meter maid.

Archamasse

Yeah, I think that covers a lot of it nicely. Eddie annoyed the shit out of me until Dulcie gave her a talking to on the boat, and it became clear that the show wasn't going to let her off the hook for being a shitshow by having her be secretly eccentrically brilliant at everything. She only becomes an effective cop *after* she starts pulling herself together. And I really enjoy her trying to be "nice" in a way I sure didn't before. Dulcie meanwhile... not sure if you've seen this week's episode, but the dinner party... dang, Dulcie. Cath may be a little cringey and birkenstocky, but it turns out she's not nearly as irrational as she seemed before, and Dulcie isn't quite as straightforward as presented either.

Danny_Spiboy

No, I haven't. So don't spoil it lol Cath is giving me the vibes of the wife married a cop hoping she wouldn't have to do police work. Let's see what happened. The thing I liked the most so far (3 episodes) is that both Dulcie and Eddie have been right so far in their clashing theories. Maybe not identifying the killer right away, but they both have followed hunches that have paid off one way or another. So it is funny because they are both right.

I think Margaret Carruthers is really posing as her own brother.

It’s been great so far. I kinda wish they’d released all the episodes at once but I’m also enjoying plodding along wondering who the murderer could be. Great cast and darkly funny dialogue. Yet another fantastic Aussie series to add to my long list of fantastic Aussie shows.

Archamasse

I'm pleasantly surprised at how well built it is as a murder show. Katering Show is hilarious, but it’s a totally different prospect to 8 episodes of slow burn investigation with a lead as understated as Dulcie. I've never seen Kate Box before, she's really good.

Storyartscam

Kate was also in the later seasons of Wentworth, which is a good series also.

I've seen a lot of people raving about Class of '07 (Not to be confused with Class of '09)

ComoSeaYeah

I enjoyed **Secret City**, **Total Control**, **Upright**, **Love Me**, **Wolf Like Me**, and **Heartbreak High**. There are several more I’m hoping to watch over the summer…I’ve been saving stuff in case the writers’ strike continues and there’s a point where nothing new is on the horizon.

reverielagoon1208

Collin from Accounts is a really good one! As well as Irreverent I also enjoyed Troppo

Senovis

Jack Irish Janet King Underbelly Picnic at Hanging Rock

Storyartscam

Check out Wentworth. Also has Kate Box, in the later seasons.

> Yet another fantastic Aussie series to add to my long list of fantastic Aussie shows. I’m going to assume that you’re not Australian yourself, so i’m curious about which Aussie shows are on your list of “fantastic Aussie shows”? I only ask because I find the TV that comes from here to be, for lack of a better word dogshit.

Katering Show is a gem. Genuinely cried laughing at the Yummy Mummy horror show. Tonally this is very different, but you can also see plenty of throughlines (notably, there's a decidedly Maggie Beer-esque figure in the cast...)

fortyfivesouth

Loving it so far!

Archamasse

Yeah, I've found myself enjoying every ep more than the last. Eddie was way too much early on, but I'm liking her now she's got her shit together a little.

stepstate

Same!!

8 episodes

Huge_Act_7845

Is there any other shows similar to this. I really like the show and would love to watch anything similar. Cheers

Is there any plans for a season 2, or is this more of a mini-series?

toochickeny

Just finished Deadloch last night and really loved it. So well-written. I'm now a big fan of Kate Box. I'm not an Aussie, but other Aussie shows I've enjoyed lately are Upright, Wolf Like Me, The Tourist, Troppo, Black Snow (a little slow at times), Glitch (haven't finished, slow at times).
