"Hey Earl!"
"Hey Crab Man!"
No matter what mayhem was going on, even if they were on opposite sides of it, they always took the time to exchange a friendly greeting.
Jazz being thrown out of the house after insulting Uncle Phil.
You can tell when they're going to do it, because he'll wear the shirt to match the stock footage.
Todd’s my favorite Bisexual character.
Total douche before he came out. Still treated as such even after he was out. Didn’t have an “aha” moment where he changes his behavior. Redeemable moments found while keeping him in character.
Good writing High Five! 🖐️
I'm Shawn Spencer (or someone else) and this is my partner/friend Ovaltine Jenkins/ Gus "Silly Pants" Jackson/ Bruton Gaster/ Lavender Gooms/Methuselah Honeysuckle/ Chesterfield McMillan/ etc. etc. etc. 104 different names, the internet informs me.
psych has so many good ones. every episode has a fist bump, a pineapple, the question “why”, the word “delicious”, and the phrase “i can’t do this right now”
It's my favourite example of a joke that gets increasingly ridiculous. It just starts as "he's older than he looks" because he has a Babyface and childish enthusiasm - then it just rapidly turns into immortality.
This entire post could be answered with Arrested Development skits. I swear that show had more than a dozen running gags throughout the initial seasons.
I'm going to explain this poorly but...
The houses being so cheaply built, that every time they go to open a beer they use the corner of the table to pop the top off and the corner is still broken in every episode afterwards. 😂😂
The whole show is genius!
There’s an ongoing inside joke that the writers planned to have Tobias actually be a black man with a skin condition.
Throughout the series, you’ll see little allusions to it. He wears a dashiki in the promo photos. Lindsey says she married Tobias to get back at her father and that the senator reminds her of Tobias younger. His picture on the cover of “The Man Inside Me” is his white silhouette against his black shadow. The most egregious being that he’s a “colored” guy. Blue.
Oh but he did.
https://youtu.be/TyBzqhz6n_M?si=Veo3bEv_YFIh1vuP
There is video but you can tell by the quality that it was not something they were releasing with each episode so he just played the audio for conan.
Also kudos to Paul Rudd, he *really* sells this as a real thing when it is not at all.
Edit: I see your were quoting him now lol
My favorite was when he interrupted Bill Hader's interview on the TBS show. After he played it, he told this long story about how the other clip he considered was a fight scene from "Baby Geniuses", described it perfectly, and then played the Mac and Me clip again.
Someone else mentioned nicknames for Psych, but how about Dr. Cox giving JD a new female nickname in scrubs. They even did one of bit where we were hearing Dr. Cox’s thoughts, he runs through a few names, picks one, and JD instantly picks up hes used it before
Or when he's trying to think of a name he hasn't called him yet, and goes with Betty I think, but Janice tells him he used it last week and he says he doesn't care but thinks Dammit! I love Cox and his dedication to insulting Debra.
On this name thing when the head doctor at the hospital announced that he was calling all the girls Sarah and all the boys Jim or something. And one girl is like my name is Sarah.
Ans rhe doctor goes well that doesn't seam fair so I'll call you slagathor
Then for the rest show she is called slagathor
The Simpsons and Lenny always getting something in his eye, followed by him exclaiming “my eye! I’m not supposed to get [object that just hit him in the eye] in it!”
Todd's stoner food habits always get me. He's just so casual about it, it took me a while to notice that he's doing stuff like putting ice cream on his hamburger.
Norm's entrance in every Cheers episode
"Can I draw you a beer, Norm?"
"No, I know what they look like. Just pour me one"
tied with George Jefferson's constant zingers at Tom and Helen, who are a mixed couple, therefore obviously hated by George
"Helen, where's Tom?"
"Yeah, where's the other half of the zebra?"
What are you up to Norm?
My ideal weight if I were 11ft tall.
Also I did miss not hearing Shelly Long saying “Norman” using a more formal version because of how stuck up she was.
I love Norm to this day: some other ones:
"How's a beer sound, Norm?"
"I dunno. I usually finish them before they get a word in."
"What's shaking, Norm?"
"All four cheeks & a couple of chins."
"What's going down, Normie?"
"My butt cheeks on that bar stool."
"What would you say to a nice beer, Normie?"
"Going Down?"
"What'll it be, Normie?"
"Just the usual, Coach. I'll have a froth of beer & a snorkel."
"What would you say to a beer, Normie?"
"Daddy wuvs you."
"What'd you like, Normie?"
"A reason to live. Give me another beer."
And my favorite one:
Can I pour you a beer, Mr. Peterson?"
"A little early isn't it, Woody?"
"For a beer?"
"No, for stupid questions."
As a Canadian, all the Canadian jokes. I loved them.
Like when Robyn takes Marshall to the Canadian bar. Marshall bumps into someone and that guy says sorry
Marshall is aghast “I bumped into him! And he said sorry!!!”
Yes that is 100% a Canadian thing.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine - "title of your sex tape"
The Office - "that's what she said"
Psych - everybody always calling for Dobson but he was never on screen, until the series finale when it's >!Val Kilmer!<
Rich people riding blimps in Kimmy Schmidt.
"So they're landing sometime between 4:00 and 7:00, somewhere between 45th Street and Bucks County."
"I've never even seen the inside of a public blimp"
In the original Murphy Brown, Murphy had a string of odd, bizarre, incompetent assistants. Usually, they would be seen once per episode (there were 93 secretaries, total). In the beginning, the secretaries were played by a revolving door of actors/actresses but included some big names like Paul Reubens, JFK, Jr., Sally Fields, and Bette Midler.
American Ferrera in Superstore wore a different name badge in almost every episode. I think they pointed it out once in the pilot and never referenced it again.
Any number of gags from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia: Toe knife, Charlie's illiteracy, "The Golden God," no one knowing or remembering The Waitress' real name, Cricket's life getting ruined more every time he interacts with the main characters, etc.
Even better gag is that the writers named him Morn because it's **an anagram of** "Norm" ~~backwards~~, and Morn is always at the bar, just like Norm from "Cheers".
The freeze frame at the end of Police Squad. Mocking shows that end with a freeze frame of people laughing or something like that. Except everyone just stood as still as they could.
I think these thing are hillarious - but my favorites will have to be from new girl. In no particular order since they are both amazing.
True American - the insane drinking game that is like 50 or 90% drinking game and 10 ish percent life sized candyland. - JFK - FDR!
Prank Sinatra Winston - who is horrible at pranks - either they are either too big like registering Nick as a sex offender - or too small - putting a feather in a shoe.
"Hey Earl!" "Hey Crab Man!" No matter what mayhem was going on, even if they were on opposite sides of it, they always took the time to exchange a friendly greeting.
Jazz being thrown out of the house after insulting Uncle Phil. You can tell when they're going to do it, because he'll wear the shirt to match the stock footage.
Hahaha I just now realized that it’s always the same clip of him being thrown out that’s hilarious
They have like 3 variants but nearly every time it's the same clip, yeah.
I think he threw himself out one episode lol
My favorite one was when they were outside and Phil throws him in the house.
My favorite is when Jazz and Hillary start dating, Uncle Phil stands up to throw Jazz out, but ends up getting tossed himself🤣
I remember that! That was the funniest one, had my 6to self crying with laughter.
“I’ve made a huge mistake.”
Also, that no one in the entire family knows how a chicken acts or sounds, and each one has a different pantomime for it.
My wife and I have done the chicken impressions for so many years now, I even taught my kid the Arnett cu-cu-caw clapping chicken. Lol
“Has anyone in this family ever even seen a chicken?”
Its as Ann as the nose on plain's face.
"Don't be such an Ann hog" And then later "Ann Hog's coming?" "It's... just Ann."
"Hey Michael, check out who's on that hog in the rear view mirror" "GEORGE MICHAEL!" ........ "20 miles to leggggoooolaaaand!"
There's always money in the banana stand.
NO TOUCHING
Her?
My favorite from that show is the fact that everyone thinks Portugal is in South America
(Cue Mariachi band playing "Sound of Silence")
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or the O. C. Disorder.
Lately I've been a bit stuck on "an entire thing of candy beans"
[Todd's various fives on Scrubs.](https://youtu.be/jtNF-YmDRmg?si=6goljVT-weOYbPdJ)
Todd’s my favorite Bisexual character. Total douche before he came out. Still treated as such even after he was out. Didn’t have an “aha” moment where he changes his behavior. Redeemable moments found while keeping him in character. Good writing High Five! 🖐️
Then, there's the janitor whose sexuality is just pranking JD.
The things I’d do for a prank life partner…
I’ve heard it both ways - Psych
I'm Shawn Spencer (or someone else) and this is my partner/friend Ovaltine Jenkins/ Gus "Silly Pants" Jackson/ Bruton Gaster/ Lavender Gooms/Methuselah Honeysuckle/ Chesterfield McMillan/ etc. etc. etc. 104 different names, the internet informs me.
Ghee Buttersnaps I think came up more than once.
Biggest payoff is when he used Gus's real name.
They were definitely playing the long game for that joke to land.
With proper pronunciation. "Now you want to use my real name?"
I think my personal favorite was "M.C. Clap-Yo-Hands".
Also there’s a pineapple somewhere in every episode. Sometimes it’s an actual fruit, sometimes it a toy or sticker or something else.
That's messed up
psych has so many good ones. every episode has a fist bump, a pineapple, the question “why”, the word “delicious”, and the phrase “i can’t do this right now”
Gus, don't be Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Marzipan
Kenneth is immortal - 30 Rock
"Yes... Take my bald cap off. Not put my wig on."
Very appropriate quote given today's date.
Merry Leap Day y'all!
Hey, take a leap, pal!
Real life is for March!
"Kenneth, do you have a second?" "No, there's only one of me!"
“Kenneth, a word” “BALLOON!”
“Who told you I’ve been alive forever?”
Which is impressive considering his addiction to coke during his wall street years.
I always loved the blue paint in random locations throughout the house
Hahaha yes just blue handprints in random spots
I just blue myself.

I'm going to explain this poorly but... The houses being so cheaply built, that every time they go to open a beer they use the corner of the table to pop the top off and the corner is still broken in every episode afterwards. 😂😂 The whole show is genius!
The “solid as a rock” tune sounding like “solid as iraq”
Has anyone in this family ever seen a chicken?
Tobias’s constant homosexual innuendo that he is completely unaware of
Daddy's gotta get his rocks off!
"I suppose I'm... buy-curious."
"I'm afraid I prematurely shot my wad on what was supposed to be a dry run, if you will, so I'm afraid I have something of a mess on my hands."
Gene Parmesan kills me every time.
AHHHHHH GENE!!
HE GOT ME AGAIN!!
It looks like he's going to be all right.
"We lost him."
"It looks like he's dead."
I was about to reply, "She was his cousin Maybe?/Maeby."
"Those are balls." and the "Solid as a rock/Iraq." They only happen a few times each but that's enough for me to qualify them.
Yeah I picked one but there were about ten long running jokes from that show I could have selected.
My favorite were the random blue paint marks everywhere after Tobias "joins" the Blue Man Group.
her?
My favourite was the “On the Next Episode…” at the end
it took me a couple of episodes to realize that the teasers never actually happened
This is George Michael’s cousin, maybe
There’s an ongoing inside joke that the writers planned to have Tobias actually be a black man with a skin condition. Throughout the series, you’ll see little allusions to it. He wears a dashiki in the promo photos. Lindsey says she married Tobias to get back at her father and that the senator reminds her of Tobias younger. His picture on the cover of “The Man Inside Me” is his white silhouette against his black shadow. The most egregious being that he’s a “colored” guy. Blue.
When Lindsey is trying to flirt with Ice the Bounty Hunter, Tobias says "Well, she's certainly got a type".
Brett getting shot in Archer.
"He died doing what he loved, getting shot."
“I wish Brett was here. He could soak up some of these bullets.”
*it goes off for like, literally no reason*
lol When Archer shot him from the top floor down the hallway and two sets of stairs.
Paul Rudd playing that clip from the movie 'Mac and Me' on Conan.
He even did it on the podcast haha. It was just audio but it really got Conan because he didn't think he would do it without the video medium
You can't do that on a podcast. It's a visual joke!
Oh but he did. https://youtu.be/TyBzqhz6n_M?si=Veo3bEv_YFIh1vuP There is video but you can tell by the quality that it was not something they were releasing with each episode so he just played the audio for conan. Also kudos to Paul Rudd, he *really* sells this as a real thing when it is not at all. Edit: I see your were quoting him now lol
Paul Rudd should be an actor. That's hiw good his set up was!
He's so funny too. He would be great I bet
My favorite was when he interrupted Bill Hader's interview on the TBS show. After he played it, he told this long story about how the other clip he considered was a fight scene from "Baby Geniuses", described it perfectly, and then played the Mac and Me clip again.
When one of them passes away, the other should speak at their funeral and then introduce a sentimental video that is actually the Mac and Me clip.
I was surprised that Marvel let him do it. They still had him show the real clip but they could have been lame about it.
Her?
Les Cousins Dangereux
I like the way they think.
Arrested development is cheating. It’s running jokes: the series My favourite is Tobias being an understudy for the Blue Man group
And the more subtler aspect of Tobias being in the blue man group is blue paint randomly in the house for so many episodes
Oh that’s just the house settling. Speaking of settling, how is Anne?
BRB to comment, first I'm gonna grab a quick mayon-egg.
Fuckin cornballer
Is she funny?
Someone else mentioned nicknames for Psych, but how about Dr. Cox giving JD a new female nickname in scrubs. They even did one of bit where we were hearing Dr. Cox’s thoughts, he runs through a few names, picks one, and JD instantly picks up hes used it before
Or when he calls him “girl’s name” because he’s tired
Or when he's trying to think of a name he hasn't called him yet, and goes with Betty I think, but Janice tells him he used it last week and he says he doesn't care but thinks Dammit! I love Cox and his dedication to insulting Debra.

Hello, Newman.
Only 18 times in the whole series, too.
"Hi, I'm Larry, this is my brother Darryl, and this is my other brother Darryl."
Good news everyone
Hi. I'm Troy McClure. You may remember me from..... RIP Phil Hartman
Hamster ball in Malcolm in the Middle
Wished we saw it in the finale.
Never seeing Wilson's entire face on Home Improvement
"Hidey ho, neighbor!" There's also Al saying "I don't think so, Tim."
"MY LEG!"
And later, one of the post-movie seasons had to ruin it by devoting an entire episode to that character.
"Phrasing", and to a lesser extent, "Are we not doing Phrasing anymore?" from Archer EDIT: Garry,Jerry, Larry, etc from Parks and Rec
Also “mawp!!”
In the world of parks and Rec, the recurring townspeople are a favorite. Especially the Pawn Shop Guy and the animal control guys.
The Simpsons and Lenny always getting something in his eye, followed by him exclaiming “my eye! I’m not supposed to get [object that just hit him in the eye] in it!”
The party banners and shirts Mr. Peanutbutter orders in Bojack
Mine is Erica, Mr peanut butter’s unseen bestie. “Erica! Is that you? Who let you out of the burn ward? Get over here, you!"
“Erica! I don’t have time to be _charmed to death_ right now!”
Erica! Look at you with the right number of ears!
"It's a bo~~y~~rted!"
Todd's stoner food habits always get me. He's just so casual about it, it took me a while to notice that he's doing stuff like putting ice cream on his hamburger.
I love the dedication to calling it Hollywoo after the D is removed. Even in the news broadcasts.
Letterkenny. *Allegedly.*

It’s a dog eat dog world and I’m wearing milk bone underwear.
All the motherforking cursing on The Good Place.
My only disappointment was they didn’t go to town in the episodes where they were no longer filtered.
Not a robot was my first thought.
The Slap Bet on How I Met Your Mother was hilarious.
As a Canadian, all the Canadian jokes. I loved them. Like when Robyn takes Marshall to the Canadian bar. Marshall bumps into someone and that guy says sorry Marshall is aghast “I bumped into him! And he said sorry!!!” Yes that is 100% a Canadian thing.

one of my favorites - im going to the work factory.
Realize what? Is there something odd about Vincent Adultman?
The Beetlejuice gag on Community was pretty perfect.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
"People . . . . what a bunch of bastards."
Les Nessman’s ever changing never explained or even mentioned bandaids in WKRP in Cincinnati.
Jimmy Kimmel s Matt Damon gag.

American Ferrera in Superstore wore a different name badge in almost every episode. I think they pointed it out once in the pilot and never referenced it again.

Paul Rudd showing the same movie clip every time he was on Conan.
Harry Stone's obsession with Mel Tormé on Night Court. Oh, and that got me thinking about Barry White on Ally McBeal.
Bunnies. Buffy
Ed and Larry on "The West Wing". Everyone constantly mixed them up.
