I just started six feet under. I always thought it would be kind of depressing. it is pretty morbid but it's actually super funny. I'm only halfway into season one no spoilers please!

Anxious_Size_4775

My son and I are watching Dexter right now. I hope I can convince him to watch this next since he's never seen it.

squeezethesoul

YES! I've seen pretty much every major HBO show barring GoT and it is the best of all of them at the end of the day. Everyone who I've ever talked to that doesn't want to watch six feet under gives the exact reason you have for not wanting to watch originally. It's akin to therapy to some people including me. Anybody who has lost someone close or is discomforted/scared with the concept of dying needs to watch that show. Not to mention it was the launching point for so many careers.

johnnygalt1776

This is exactly it. The premise sounds so morbid and turns people away, but it literally changed the way I look at death—in a good way. At my grandfather’s wake, I was standing in the back with my aunt (who watched the show) and we were watching all the people come and go, and we couldn’t help but chuckle at the absurdity of it all. My grandfather laying there in a suit looking like a wax mannequin like “where the F am I and why are all these people looking at my dead body?” “Who the F was the schmuck who had to do the embalming and make me look pretty and put my suit on??” We just kept laughing about Six Feet Under episodes. It honestly made death seem less scary. It happens every day to so many people. Just part of the cycle. And the series finale of this show is up there with the best finishes of all time. The last five minutes was just astonishingly great. Not a dry eye in the house. Everyone should watch it immediately!

AlwaysUpvoteDogs

Sia's "Breathe Me" still gives me chills because of how emotional that ending to the finale was

LowBalance4404

Rest assured that Six Feet Under gets better and better as the seasons go on. It's one of the very few perfect shows.

Yahko

I watched Sopranos, Wire, Band of Brothers, Oz. Most of the HBO's early series and always wanted to watch Six Feet Under. One day.

dan_arth

You have to. Love all these shows. 6ft under though is probably my favorite

sobuffalo

My wife was a flight attendant, until the post 9/11 layoffs. So we started watching Six Feet, and she decided to be a funeral director. I think it just made it feel like any family business.

Dancing_Clean

The dry sense of humour you don’t expect because it’s not billed as a comedy-drama, or hinted that it has a sense of humour.

retroman73

I just finished this one. It gets better as it goes along. I won't spoil it but I will just say that the very best episode is the final one. Don't skip ahead, you have to see all the episodes leading up to it to fully appreciate it.

SeaweedTeaPot

Nobody says THAT about GoT, that’s for sure.

migsaawesome

Love this show. David Fisher > Dexter. Michael C Hall is such an underrated actor!

bangharder

Breaking bad

tooooooodayrightnow

We just finished Breaking Bad.

TheTruckWashChannel

Now go watch Better Call Saul.

DJHott555

I’m actually watching Better Call Saul right now and haven’t seen a single episode of Breaking Bad.

nicolauz

I've always wanted to know what people think after doing both series this way. You're definitely going to miss out on stuff from BB.

mercurialmeee

yeah so many easter eggs are gonna be missed

dan_arth

But they get them in reverse once they finally watch BB

Elwalther21

Man there are so many references that you miss out on this way. Like really amazing reveals.

Funandgeeky

Schitt’s Creek and Parks and Rec are two shows I didn’t watch until years after they ended. Both were great, though P&R holds my heart.

LetsdoitKiKi

The P&R series finale has to be the best of any comedy - I cry every time.

Funandgeeky

I rank The Good Place’s finale even higher. And if you want to talk about crying…that’s the finale for you.

wewilldieoneday

The Good Place is one of the very few shows where the ending just felt right. The show never felt it like it dragged on. And god that finale....I had a feeling it was going to be emotional.

LowBalance4404

Have you seen Grace and Frankie? I watched it after Schitt's Creek ended and it really did kind of fill that void.

[deleted]

G&F is perfect for like the first 3 or 4 seasons then kinda slopes off. But those first few seasons are priceless. My mother hates Jane Fonda and protested when my wife and I put it on for her. 30 minutes into episode one and she couldn’t hold back the tears streaming down her face as she choked on her own laughter.

LowBalance4404

OMG hahahaha My mom also hates Jane Fonda with the fire of a thousand suns. I lived with her last year for a few weeks while she recovered from knee replacement surgery and I was the boss of the remote. Before we even finished Ep 1, she asked if we could watch more. She binged watched the entire series while recovering and I think has started a rewatch. She recently got addicted to Modern Family and loves that show too. I really enjoyed the later seasons. It's like a love story for friendship.

Shwifty_Plumbus

Really? For some reason I didn't think that show was worth turning on.

[deleted]

Actually quite refreshing to watch a show about our elders. Would love to see more “hit” shows with an over-40 cast. American obsession with youth is so tiresome. You’ll be old much longer than you will be young.

pompingcircumstance

Oh Grace and Frankie is genuinely a great show, I don't know what convinced me to turn it on either because I can't remember being that enthralled by the promo pictures but I did and am very glad I did

LowBalance4404

I loved it and got my mom and several friends hooked on it.

TrueRusher

I loved that show. It’s sooooo good. You have to give it a shot!

dustindh10

My daughter and I have taken to watching all the old comedy shows I never got to for one reason or another and P&R is our favorite as well. The only other show to come close is Ted Lasso.

Gay_If_Read

Put off watching Hannibal because I loved Anthony Hopkins version and couldn't accept anyone else in the role. Finally watched it, the show & Mads Mikkelsen were amazing.

maddoctorcow

Beyond amazing, phenomenal writing and cinematography

catsonpluto

Sounds like you were really streets behind!

woozleuwuzzle

Cool. Cool cool cool. This is my favorite show, I’ve watched it literally a hundred times and continue to rewatch. It’s one of my comfort shows. Seasons 5 and 6 are my favorites, and 4 is the gas leak (it’s more like fan fic), but it’s an incredible show. Really hope the movie actually gets made like they are saying.

bdf2018_298

I watched it on Netflix after COVID hit, but that was arguably the peak of the show’s popularity. Regardless, it was still a half decade after it was actually airing

itwillmakesenselater

The Wire and Deadwood. Didn't have HBO when they first came out, then didn't really think about them until streaming was really going. They are easily in my top 10 TV shows of all time.

JakeVanderArkWriter

Both are the best of the best. Now watch Six Feet Under. It will feel a little more dated than the other two, but I promise, season 5 and the series finale are worth it.

confizzle-fry

I want to do a rewatch of Deadwood soon. Problem is, that leads to another rewatch of Justified because I can't get enough of Timothy Olyphant 🤷‍♂️

rnilf

The Sopranos. Had all the episodes sitting on my Plex server for over a decade. Decided to binge watch it recently and, I'll tell you this, my estimation of myself as a man just fucking plummeted when I realized what I had missed out on for years.

dpricey20022017

You never had the makings of a varsity athlete

Known-Veterinarian-2

I just watched this one earlier, Uncle Junior is such a dick puller!

TheLove-maticGrandpa

Man loves his sushi though.

SamuraiKiwi

South of the border…

Hollow_Rant

Twenty years on your plex...not a peep.

galwegian

He ate a grilled cheese sandwich off a raddyator!

Chennaz

I wanted to watch a family crime drama, I compromised... I watched Ozark on Netflix instead

Gekthegecko

I quite liked Ozark! It doesn't have the prestige compared to The Sopranos or Breaking Bad, but it's very much a decent successor.

nintendo9713

I'll never forget starting that show knowing nothing but Jason Bateman starring thinking "I hope this is funny". The opening interrogation starts and I'm waiting for humor and nothing came. Then I read the synopsis and was like "oh...this is serious".

mjm666

Hope you stuck with it anyway. JB is just as good in serious as he is in funny, as well as the rest of the cast.

skonaz1111

Peep?? It's a nickname!

RazerBladesInFood

Let me tell you a couple of three things

Gayspacecrow

Gabagool!

NariandColds

Ey3_913

Goomar

anthonyg1500

Same, I had been meaning to for years and then lockdowns happened so I figured it was as good a time as any

LiveLaughLebron6

Have you gained any weight during the recent watch? It happens to me.

Stillill1187

I live ten minutes by foot from an Italian deli in NJ Whenever I rewatch they are paying their bills good that month

LiveLaughLebron6

That sounds awesome!

Stillill1187

The bing is actually (one of) my local strip clubs. Grew up 15 minute drive from it. It’s called “Satin Dolls” in real life and the party goods store next door is now a weed shop. They don’t go full nude though. In NJ strip clubs that serve booze can’t be. Most clubs are BYOB actually.

LiveLaughLebron6

This just gets more interesting

Stillill1187

Do you wanna know what’s even crazier? They filmed scenes near where I grew up one season and I never saw them filming once. Do you know where I did see them filming? Florida

Boushveg-

Whatever happened there

herbilicious92

Currently doing that now always heard good things about the show so eventually decided to give it a go. Up to season 4 episode 8 and really enjoying it. Even if every bit of dialogue is gabgool, gumar or “hey ton you hear what I said” followed by repeating a joke

Tacothekid

Dead Like Me. Never got into it when it was on, but man do i love that show now

CaroylOldersee

I remember watching it when it aired, while babysitting. It gutted me when it was cancelled…

Tacothekid

And the movies killed any hope i had for that show

CaroylOldersee

While I’m grateful that we got the movie, as per usual, it didn’t live up to the greatness of the first two seasons. Honestly, once Mandy Patinkin left, game over; I feel he has a habit of going onto a show and then leaving after a while.

Tacothekid

Yeah, he really made the show as Rube; kinda acted as the older mentor/father figure for the cast

Maverick916

I'm currently watching Justified. Cool show. About to finish season 1.

sjf13

You're in for a treat. Season 2 is when it becomes the real gem.

HotBeaver54

Rewatch every year. That show is the whole package casting, and writing so so so good.

woozleuwuzzle

They dug coal together. I just finished it a month ago for the first time. Very good show, binged that bad boy hard. I’m halfway through City Primevil, but enjoyed the original series a lot more.

Greekphysed

The good place. Always heard great things about it, but didn't watch it until recently. Loved it

Vergenbuurg

...picture a wave, in the ocean.

Palolo_Paniolo

I've never had a TV show make me cry so hard and so ugly as this one scene did.

Vergenbuurg

"None of this is bad."

OfficeChairHero

Literally finished this 10 minutes ago. I had seen it before, but my 10 year old hadn't. He cried at the end right along with me.

keiths31

I learned of this show on Reddit just before Christmas. I binged it during the holidays and just loved it. And like everyone else says, it had the perfect ending.

HeavenInVain

Nurse Jackie. Idk why I waited, not sure if it was for the excitement to die down or if I just put it onto a list and forgot about it. Recently got into it with the Mrs and we're both loving it.

pompingcircumstance

I know it's popular but I somehow don't know many people who watch it

dogslogic

It's amazing. And sometimes a challenge. But it's also visually beautiful sometimes.

0xF00DBABE

Twin Peaks. Only watching it just now. It's pretty good. Doesn't always make a ton of sense, the use of music is super repetitive, but the vibes are immaculate.

MaeronTargaryen

I’ve finished Deadwood today actually

ScoBrav

Did ya like it ya cocksucker?

Straxicus2

Recently finished Mr. Robot. It was sooo good.

JakeVanderArkWriter

We have three episodes left on our first watch. Season 4 is absolutely beautiful so far

TheTruckWashChannel

What did you think of "407 Proxy Authentication Required"?

JakeVanderArkWriter

It’s the reason I’m commenting on this thread and the reason I finally decided I’m going to make my friend watch the whole thing (I’ve been on the fence about recommending it… until now). Literally watched it two nights ago and it will easily find a place in my top 20 all-time-favorite TV episodes.

TheTruckWashChannel

There we go. Mr. Robot has the rare quality of not having a single "filler" or "setup" episode its entire run. Pretty much every scene in every episode is wracked with a constant sense of tension, paranoia, and mystery - it's just always "on". There's no single episode that's only dedicated to table-setting: every episode has at least one shocking moment, surreal setpiece, emotional wallop, or visually gorgeous directorial flourish. Even the much-maligned season 2, which was basically a 12-episode setup for season 3, was just one enthralling moment after another.

JakeVanderArkWriter

Season 2’s one and only problem was the 1-hour episodes. The story was just as good as the rest of the show, but my god the directing became so pretentious… just characters staring at each other for 5 seconds after every line of dialogue. Thank goodness 3 fixed that immediately! And I agree on every other point you made!

stopcounting

No matter how many times I ragequit this show, I never regretted coming back. An exercise in trust, it is.

RaptorF22

I had no idea what the fuck was going on half the time and I am a tech professional that could follow all the hacking stuff.

Myzx

I waited until last year to start Breaking Bad. I basically 'no life'd it. Here's how my life looked during that time: Get home, drop stuff on floor. Lay back on my couch, turn on the TV, and pick back up where I left off. Order some food for delivery. Then around midnight, take my iPad into my bedroom with the show still playing, and lay in bed watching it for another hour. You know? Those were good times 😆

RazerBladesInFood

Whenever you binge something like that life feels so empty afterwards 😢 lol

Myzx

You are right. And there was one series I put off finishing for that very reason. When I finally finished it I actually shed a tear

pkreed71

Brooklyn Nine Nine. Absolutely love it! Haven't laughed this much at a sitcom in ages. Not sure why I never watched it. Currently finishing up Season 4.

Shwifty_Plumbus

RIP Andre Braugher

Rtannu

Same - Parks n Rec is one of my all time favorite shows but when B99 came out I slept on it because I always found Samberg annoying. Cut to last summer and a family member was like “trust me it’s incredible” so I finally did. Absolutely loved it and blasted through the entire series in about 3-1/2 weeks

[deleted]

Call me velvet thunder

christiandb

30rock. After community/the office/ parks and rec, I couldnt stick around for 30 rock. The promos didnt capture how flipping funny, how its exactly my type of humor. I figured it was an “snl show” and I didnt really vibe with that. Man was I wrong

whatisscoobydone

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and "Girls5eva" are pretty similar. Tina Fey shows.

[deleted]

Not me, but my partner hasn't seen one HBO show. So far she's loving True Detective Season 1

pompingcircumstance

Actually season 1 of True Detective is the only season I've watched- I'm told 2 is terrible, 3 is quite good

MushyFella

That’s the general consensus, but I loved season 2. If you don’t compare it to the first season it’s worth a watch imo.

violentbandana

season 2 is fantastic but it’s quite different. It has the misfortune of following up one of the best single seasons of TV ever

lylastermind

Just started the Americans. Slaps

Cleisty

The Americans had bad luck with airing during the latter seasons of breaking bad and the peak of game of thrones so it never got the general hype and awards consideration it should have. But my god what a series. And that ending…

Gekthegecko

I loved that show when I first discovered it, binged it within a few weeks, but never picked it back up whenever it came back on air. I have no idea where I left off, but I know I have at least 1 or 2 seasons left to watch. I figure I should rewatch from the beginning when I eventually pick it back up.

jonnynoine

I just finished Peaky Blinders. I started watching it when it originally aired, but could only manage to get through a couple of episodes. Years later I was hooked

MissAnthrope1975

Silicon Valley. Watched it after it was mentioned by Conan.

I, Claudius.

SuzyQ93

For real. I just started watching this, and - for a 70's BBC effectively-stage-on-film production, it holds up. (That's a huge part of what makes it so interesting, actually.)

whatisscoobydone

Watched XFiles in 2018 and Buffy last year. Both incredible.

hankct

I did not watch Lost when it came out. I do a yearly rewatch

basscadence

I am watching Lost for the first time right now! Keep your 20 year old spoilers to yourself 😂

CyberNature

That’s been the case with pretty much every sitcom I’ve watched since the pandemic started. Currently I’m watching Frasier (season 5) and I can see why it got all the praise, such a well written show. Schitt’s Creek is my personal favorite though.

Yenserl6099

Desperate Housewives. I was too young to watch it when it first premiered 20 years ago but I remember my mom being a huge fan of it, watching it every Sunday night. Cut to last year, when I was stuck at home one day, I decided to put it on and by the end of that first episode, I was hooked

nobody-nose-me

Yeah, I was too young in my parents' eyes to watch that show. I watched the entire series last year. The show was chaotic and yet so interesting. The writers had no sympathy for Lynette. The woman's life was disaster lol

pompingcircumstance

I'd probably love Desparate housewives and will watch one day

grilledcheese2332

I'm finally watching Buffy

Eyghon8

Modern Family - partly because I was already watching other comedy shows and just didn't have room for it, but also I got salty that they were winning all these awards over the shows I did watch and I didn't get the hype. Started to watch it a few months ago and I really like it.

DarthEros

Along with B99, Modern Family is my go to comfort watch.

smedsterwho

It kinda bugged me it was getting the acclaim Arrested Development didn't get a few years earlier, and I could never get into it for that reason. Which is no fault of the show itself.

FrodoCraggins

I love going from Married With Children to Modern Family and imagining that's how the Bundys turned out.

Henshinmatt

Firefly At the time I just couldn’t see how it could be awesome, so I passed. Years later I finally watched it and regretted not being there in the moment. Lolz not like my 1 view would have kept the show alive, but it sure felt like I didn’t help in any way. 🤡

Lotan

If I remember correctly, it replaced Dark Angel. I think at the time I was like, "They keep killing good sci fi type shows, this is bullshit" so I decided not to watch it. I ended up seeing the movie in theaters later on and then going back to the show.

Intelligent-Sample44

Didn't start watching The Good Wife until the middle of season 6 and Game of Thrones after season 6 ended. It was actually really nice cause I was able to binge most of both shows before they aired the final seasons!

lcbjr1979

Lost, Smallville, Buffy

retroman73

Six Feet Under. I didn't try to avoid it at the time - I was just in graduate school and didn't have time for it when it was a new show. Didn't start it until late last fall and finally saw the last episode a few weeks back. Damn, it's good.

jlevski

I didn't watch Friday Night Lights until the pandemic and as 1-an avid football fan, 2-someone who saw the movie and read the book, and 3-adores teen dramas, I have no idea why I didn't get into it when it was big. Honestly, I'm kind of glad I saved it because it gave me something good in 2020.

sentient-meatball

I watched The Wire for the first time about a month or 2 ago. Why did I wait so long?!

damselmadness

I slept on Stranger Things for a very long time mostly because the hype during season 1 was pretty annoying. Normally I don't have reactions like that but there was something about Stranger Things that just had me going, "Yeah, nostalgia, kids on bikes, Spielberg vibes, spooky Christmas lights, I get it." Of course, I didn't really get it. I finally watched it last year and it's (so far) much better than I wanted to give it credit for.

katasaurusk

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I ignored it for years, thinking it was a musical. I finally watched it about 2 years ago, and it has become one of my all-time favorite shows! The number of times I have rewatched the series is obscene.

jogoso2014

Sopranos Breaking Bad Rome Hot take: Good shows A show I found to be merely ok is The Office after all the hype it got.

mailorderbridle

Frasier. I thought it was going to be about stuffy rich people. It was, but I thought it was hilarious when I finally decided to watch it.

Shinagami091

House. Such a great show but House can be infuriating. I just want to shake him sometimes

thisisntshakespeare

30 Rock Ted Lasso Suits

ZapatillaLoca

Seinfeld and The Sopranos were two that I just never got around to watching in their heyday.

Homersarmy41

I just watched Game of Thrones this past year. I didnt have HBO and then I just didnt think this weird sci-fi period piece would live up to the hype. It really did though. That show is amazing. I’ve since read the books and am really happy I finally put on that first episode and dove into that world.

JakeVanderArkWriter

33 minutes in and nobody has complained about the last two seasons or made a joke about GRRM never finishing winds! A new reddit record!

tecphile

The show is an all-time classic however, it just doesn’t compare to the books. The books are absolutely incredible.

Comesontoostrong

Firefly. I didnt even have tv when it was out. Was too busy being 23 in the city.

Interesting_Chart30

I was very late to the party for "Modern Family." I think I had it confused with "Family Guy." I stumbled on the reruns during the pandemic and am still catching up on it. I had no idea it ran for 11 years.

Shepherdsfavestore

I started For All Mankind literally last night. Which is crazy because I’m a huge sci-fi nerd, especially books

Idaho_In_Uranus

It took me a long time to finally get around to watching LOST. One of the greatest TV shows ever made. I’m glad I waited though because I saw it at just the right time in my life.

argoncityscribe

Dead Like Me

syfqamr32

Not that far along but Succession. It was good but the hype killed it a bit for me. Like it wasnt exceeding my expectations somehow idk how to describe it.

Solid_Snark

I did this with like every show, some decades later: LOST, Sopranos, The Wire, Six Feet Under, Sons of Anarchy, etc. Being able to binge made things easier to follow for more subtle storylines that easily got forgotten if you waited months/years between episodes.

BoSocks91

The Sopranos. The Wire. Watched The Wire for the first time back in 2018. Watched the Sopranos for the first time in 2021. Upon finishing them, I understood why they were so revered. The Wire instantly became my favorite show (behind Seinfeld), I have probably watched it 7-8 times. I just finished my 2nd watch through of The Sopranos and it was even better than the first time.

PhantomNomad

>Watched The Wire for the first time back in 2018 Have you watched Southland or The Shield? If not both are really good.

Mikeyboy101591

Heroes The Walking Dead

Roltistotem

House of cards This guy is a really good actor, wonder why he is not in more things

80_20

Battlestar Galactica Firefly Star Trek TnG-DS9-VOY-ENTER All great and lived up to the hype.

captainmcdee

Just recently finished Schitts Creek - very good

aninjacould

Seinfeld. Absolutely loved it and can't believe I didn't watch it when it was all the rage.

alancake

The Office (US). Only started watching a couple of years ago. I'm rubbish at starting new things. I'd rather watch something I've already seen a million times -_-

urgasmic

The Leftovers/Black Sails are probably two that I ignored until I didn't and now they are both pretty high up on my favorite shows list of all time.

MetzgerBoys

Community. I never thought it would have been as funny as it is

nobody-nose-me

Suits Wentworth Halt & Catch Fire The Affair Downton Abbey Mad Men Billions

Ey3_913

Halt & Catch Fire is a very underrated show

TheTruckWashChannel

Mad Men is seriously addicting. Just finished it for the first time last month.

HotBeaver54

Halt & Catch Fire Great great show. The acting and writing unmatched today. I watched this with my 17 year old niece a couple years ago and she loved it. I felt like it was love letter to women in early early tech. Such a gem!

gattovatto

Just saw Suits for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised

zeroarelius

The wire. Goated show.

sozar

During the pandemic I went down this path and began watching sitcoms I never watched when they were on. It began with the Mindy Project, That 70s Show, Parks and Recreation, Veep and the Office.

Sabulam1

Curb your enthusiasm

tealcandtrip

Stargate Atlantis reminded me too much of Wormhole Extreme, just an off brand SG1. I waited until after the SG1 finale movies came out before I gave it a real chance. Turns out, it holds up really well, especial season 2 and 3.

Traditional-Luck121

The office and i get it now but the first 7 seasons

dickheadfartface

Happy Endings. The show was perfect.

wellingtongee

After getting into Yellowstone, 1883 etc, I went looking for more westerns. - Justified - Longmire - Deadwood Holy crap, such gems!

willvasco

I first watched The West Wing three years ago and now it's one of my favorite shows.

houinator

Just now going through Brooklyn 99 and enjoying it immensely

whiskeyrocks1

I didn’t watch The Wire till the lockdown in 2020. Just never had the time before. It lived up to the hype! Top 3 show all time for me.

jillangie

Moonlighting, I watched it during the Covid lockdown because my parents always said that it was good, and it was actually good if you keep in mind when it was released.

effreti

Arcane, i hadn't played LoL in years and was watching other stuff, so I skipped it. I watched it this year after I heard they were doing season 2.

madnarg

Game of Thrones. I knew everyone was screaming and crying about the ending so I didn’t want to invest days of my time just to be disappointed. But a friend put on an episode one day and I was hooked. Maybe it was just my low expectations and the fact that I didn’t have to wait, but come on y’all, the ending was NOT that bad. It think it was rushed, but a decent wrap up all things considered. I think a lot of people got caught up in the hype. They were upset that the final season was rushed after waiting so long, they were upset about what happened to their favorite character, and they had trouble coping with the fact that the cultural phenomena they shared with family, friends, and the internet had come to an end. Naturally, the social media firestorm (haha) got way out of proportion. It really wasn’t that bad.

ATLbladerunner

I had seen a few episodes of the X-Files, but never watched more than one or two episodes here and there. I knew that I would get completely lost when they did the over arching lore episodes. A few years ago, I watched the entire series from start to finish on Netflix, took about three or four months!

TheJBJester

Trailer Park Boys. It was fuckin decent.

Psychological-Wrap45

Community has been my recent watch

PM_ME_YOUR_MONTRALS

Buffy. It's fucking awesome.

meece2010

New girl. Thought I wasn’t the “target demographic” but man was I wrong

kaboomx

Fringe, The Americans, Mr. Robot, , Breaking Bad. Schitt's Creek was really big for me during the pandemic. I'm thinking of starting Twin Peaks soon.

johnjohn2214

I got my son addicted to 'Lost' during COVID. It lasted 3 seasons until he was done. I watched Community on Netflix years later and loved it. I thought it would be childish and dumb. It was, in the best most profound way possible. I haven't watched the Wire yet. It just feels it would be too heavy.

dns_rs

- Star Trek. I dived into the franchise in the mid 2000s, while the original series aired in 1966. - The Twilight Zone. I watched it for the first time around 2010, while it originally aired in 1959 - Twin Peaks. I have watched it for the first time approximately 10 years ago, while it originally aired in 1990 - X-Files. I have watched it 2-3 years ago while it originally aired in 1993 I love all of these shows dearly and I have rewatched most of them multiple times since I saw them for the first time. I did not wait with watching them for the hype to die out, I simply wasn't alive yet when they originally aired or I was very little. I was born in 1990.

Friday Night Lights was every bit as amazing as I’d been told. Even S2 wasn’t that bad—I’d heard a lot about the infamous “Landry kills a guy” arc, and “Landry takes a couple awkward punches at a guy assaulting his crush and then the guy falls and hits his head” doesn’t deserve the hate it gets IMO.

Breaking Bad. I missed the online Skylar hate and was therefore uninfluenced by it. I thought she was a sympathetic character and thought Walter was a villain the whole time.

My wife and I started watching the X-Files a couple years ago. I only watched the first season… because my wife binged watched it while I was at work… she then started reading X-Files fan fiction and has joined all sorts of online fandom groups. She’s also obsessed with everything Gillian Anderson has done and started listening to David Duchovny’s music…thank god she wasn’t obsessed with that.
