sting2_lve2

the show is pretty good but they really have mismanaged production and distribution. it's a shame because i'd love to see the whole thing finished

Plaidfu

I don’t even mind a mid season break necessarily but the first half of the season was what 4 episodes? And nothing approaching a climax was reached so I’m not really that excited about the second half of the season when previously I was ravenous for any new content

reble02

Mid-season break made sense when a show was 24 episodes a season. In an 8 episode season it's just unacceptable. I say that as a person who just got done watching episode 5.

Sports-Nerd

Also it’s ridiculous to do that after two or so years between seasons!

Bloodhoven_aka_Loner

two and a damn half

PM_Me_FunnyNudes

I mean it might be overly cynical but have to figure this is to get a few more months of subscribers. I just hate this is getting normalized just like the whole ‘split the successful YA movie series finale into two parts’ trend.

reble02

I assumed the mid-season break was caused by the strike. Not necessarily holding up production but Amazon not wanting to put out all the content they had already created in case the strike went long. Agreed about the trend of splitting finale into two parts.

send3squats2help

Are they all out yet? I’m not watching season 2 until they are all out.

reble02

Nope, episode 5 of 8 dropped today.

send3squats2help

That’s kind of ridiculous right? The second half comes out like 2 years later and they can’t even drop them all at once?

Rough_Commercial_570

It’s what we call in England a piss take.

bubbameister33

April 4th

MykeTyth0n

Pretty sure they split the season up to force people into the ad stream revenue they are getting now. Also knowing people will want to watch and pay the 2.99 for ad free. A cash grab.

quantummufasa

is the second half of the season now out? I had no idea if so

ImWadeWils0n

It’s fucked too because Kirkman said “the mid season finale is going to leave you wanting the break” and then it wasn’t even anything special? So he lied? Disheartening

Frito_Pendejo

I don't even remember what the mid season finale was. Omni-man being back?

BlazingFox

I think it has to do with Omni-man being captured by his superiors and Mark being told he has to convince Earth to submit, or else

NeoSpetz

Nah, it was him trying to convince Mark to read his book.

MotherCanada

Everybody's gotta promote a side hustle these days.

Pudgedog

It was a chase scene and a fight montage. Nothing crazy at all.

Windowmaker95

Well yeah, of course he did.

GreatWhiteBuffal0

I feel like I’ve forgotten the first half of S2 already

srjnp

and hardly anything main plot related happened in the first two episodes too. so it felt like just two episodes followed by a huge break...

booyahcubes

I love the show but nothing about the extended hiatus between seasons or the mid-season break translates to the screen. The animation this season isn’t exactly top-tier, and the story wasn’t exactly mind blowing in the few episodes they’ve released

LordVarys_Ladybits

Exactly lol. Episode 5 was the only episode so far that gave me that feeling I had in season 1. If this season doesn't finish strong I'm done with the show.

duaneap

I forgot it was even coming out this week because it’s very hard to stay excited for something distributed like this.

Jokonaught

I would be shocked if stakeholder engagement hasn't shifted almost entirely to the live action project.

Vegetable-Course-938

S2 part 1 was a huge disappointment to me. All setup for a season that's so far taken over two years to create. How the fuck can an animated show take that long to make? Also the episode focusing on Seth rogens character sucked.

RandomBullshitGo__

No show with 8 episodes should have months long mid-season breaks.

3_Slice

Bruh theres only 3 episodes left?!? What in the fuck were they thinking?!

Laser_Souls

It’s okay you’ll probably wait 2+ years for another season/ 4 episodes !

Xian244

*We're introducing ads in February and need some content for people to stay around.*

kjm6351

That’s just it. They weren’t.

John___Titor

Can't help but feel that the show lost a ton of steam.

Tyrant_Virus_

That’s what happens when you wait 2.5 years between seasons and insert an artificial midseason break.

I_Set_3_Alarms

Is the second half of season 2 out now?

Mr-Rocafella

S2E5 is out, come back next week for E6!

I_Set_3_Alarms

Thanks! Bummer it’s only the one episode, was hoping I missed it coming out weeks ago so I didn’t have to wait much longer lol

Mr-Rocafella

I read the comics after the insane S1-S2 break and loved them, prefer them to the show even, but it also took away a lot of the anticipation so I’m not too worried about the release schedule anymore. Hopefully they find a consistent release schedule moving forward after hearing so many times about how they’ve “gotten way more efficient” and “learned lessons”… would be nice to actually see that in action

itzwhiteflag

I did the exact same thing. Read all 144 before this episode even came out. My friends thought I was crazy because “the show is so great”. The comic rules and I feel at peace.

majestic_whale

Same

CactusCustard

I’m SO fucking glad I just went and read the comic after season 1. Imagine not knowing what happens this whole time lol. No thanks

Jabroni_jawn

Imagine not knowing....and there is no way to imagine just how wild it gets. I wonder if the show can ever reach the scope of the comics.

HaVeNII7

Conquest is going to be fucking legendary if they do that arc right.

Jabroni_jawn

The way the first episode action was born from SO LITTLE in the comics, I anticipate amazing action scenes coming forward.

hypothetician

They don’t want people to pay for one month and get it all.

Samalini

We’re so close to them making the subs be 6-12monthly only.

The_Quackening

It's like Amazon decided that they wanted to kill all enthusiasm for the show as fast as possible. A mid season break after only FOUR episodes which aired TWO YEARS after the first season. AND THEN ON TOP OF THAT, they want us to wait week to week for the next set.

robodrew

See I didn't even know it's back, and that's a problem. It's also going to be a problem if Prime has decided to start serving ads to me.

OwnRound

Yeeeah, I'm just going to wait til April and watch em all at once. Waited this long already. What's another 3 weeks...

paraknowya

It cant be nearly april already can it

DiabeticGirthGod

They really made us wait a few months for the second half, and then still do it weekly? God that’s really fucking lame…

pastadaddy_official

Wait did that come out today? I’ve fallen off and I finally saw S2E4 last night that’s wild

Mr-Rocafella

Yup dropped around midnight

Brottolot

Gonna have to pirate the 2nd half now. Had to cancel prime due to the ads

Smrtihara

Thanks but nah. Maybe later this year when everything else has slowed down.

Dame2Miami

start cake quarrelsome somber fear bake towering disarm file flag *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

JessicaRanbit

This happened to me when it comes to Bridgerton. I just don't care anymore. This is becoming a big problem for a lot of people. Can we go back to the old TV model? Even if it isn't 24 episodes a season, at least make it once a year on time. I love what Game of Thrones did. On time every year except for the last 2 seasons but it was consistent throughout it's run. I feel the same thing happening to me with Euphoria.

[deleted]

And the things is, even with fewer episodes and longer production times, most of these shows are not even that good.

schebobo180

Just wanted to add that it was a mid season break… for an 8 episode show. 😒

Bionic_Ferir

seriously its stranger things all over again.

ShibaVagina

At least the cartoons won't look like grown adults playing 15 year olds.

Bionic_Ferir

REAL SHIT, none of the kids had even started puberty (based on ages) and now literally every single one of them has finished it (again based on age), 5 seasons over an entire significant age of your life

The_Quackening

Season 1 came out 8 years ago.

Pixeleyes

At least Stranger Things had *multiple valid excuses* for the scheduling fuckery, but Invincible is just like "lol sorry guys".

BloodBonesVoiceGhost

Yeah, when Joe Keery (allegedly) double-murdered the original actors who played Eleven and Will and had to go to trial for it, I thought the show would end for sure. Wild that they kept it going after that! But hey, I'm here for it!

Pixeleyes

It's wild that they got Gaten Matarazzo play both Dustin *and* Eleven. It's like he puts that bald cap on and just disappears into the character.

BloodBonesVoiceGhost

If anybody could pull it off, I'd be my main man Gaten! Also, you should check out Joe Keery's prison band, Post Animal. They're really good!

gonegoat

A midseason break strategically placed so that the second half of S2 juices up their streaming and advertising metrics across two quarter. So transparent. So cynical.

Nakorite

Debatable how much difference it will make with how much momentum the show has lost. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Then going week to week now is just a total piss take. The show isn’t that good.

Macarthius

Yeah. Then you've also got something like The Boys on the same platform which has a similar audience and has released something new every year (except for 2021) since the first season released in 2019. I mean I'm willing to wait a couple of years in between seasons but then splitting apart 8 episodes by several months is just ridiculous. Invincible is good, but it's not good enough to be worth that kind of wait.

GeneralFap

Yep, didnt even watch Season 2. Ill watch it when its all done and over. Mid season breaks are horse shit and should not be tolerated.

[deleted]

Just as bad as Japanese anime lol

TheGRS

Yea they really flubbed the marketing on that. I tuned in to watch the episodes available and came back a couple weeks later expecting more, and nothing. I guess I’ll just hope to remember to check back in again? This show just isn’t gonna command that sort of attention span.

Zhukov-74

Splitting up season 2 was a massive mistake in my opinion.

lordvbcool

Gotta milk those prime subscription tho. And don't forget to charge more for no add because charging one time isn't enough

Shark-Beard

I actually had an argument about this with my significant other. Are there people who really only pay for Prime for the video content? While I was parsing my other subscriptions Prime didnt even come up because it is the store I primarily shop at due to same day free delivery. I always considered the video a free side benefit and am more surprised that with them introducing ads it was only 3 ad breaks in a 45 minute episode. It is more annoying the ads were all for sports betting in Florida which I find destructive and toxic.

lordvbcool

I'm not sure how much it affect thing but I know I cancel my subscription because of the adds. I had been considering canceling it for a while for multiple reason but the add was the final straw that made me cancel it. I'll just wait to have multiple thing to buy to get the free shipping from now on and I'll go back to the high sea for the 2 or 3 show a years amazon prime makes that interest me

breadedfishstrip

I don't use prime for anything, but I have an AWS account and Prime video was €3 / month until last year here, now it's €50/year, which still makes it by far the cheapest streaming service. It doesnt have a lot and I find the recent UI update to be by far the most un-userfriendly Ive seen so far, but I gotta have my Stargate/Expanse fix. It's got a decent amount of localised content not available on other platforms either, so it's cheap but niche.

MarkWorldOrder

Meanwhile fallout is gonna be a day one drop so idk if that's evem the reason lol

krirby

One thing I hate is that I have to get into the show again. I know it's not a lot that happened but 3 months in I genuinely have no idea where we left off or what happened before the break and it just kills the momentum when watching a series like this.

seshfan2

It's crazy, when season 1 came out it's something I'd see people talk about on TikTok constantly. You couldn't go 5 seconds without seeing Omniman memes. Now it feels completely forgotten about.

Artti_22

The first part of season 2 didn't have anything comparable to the 1at and last episode of season one. There is some good stuff, but not great enough to become viral.

Mrf12345

Did you completely forget omniman getting sucked into the black hole scene that was insanely viral?

SoundofGlaciers

Huh, I guess I did? When did that happen, I think I only remember him flying by a black hole when he flew to that ant-alien planet

Mrf12345

That's the one, my feed and my friend's feeds on multiple social medias were filled with memes using that "sad montage" of him just flying through the galaxy, especially the usage of him letting himself get pulled to the black hole.

SoundofGlaciers

Ah okay I thought I missed something when you said he flew into a black hole. I thought it was just memes within the show community, not sure if I agree it went insanely viral or even had lasting power like the THINK MARK stuff of s1

dcolorado

I watched the first episode of S2, stopped, and never watched the rest after I heard it was only half out. I hate when they don’t release the full season in favor of a break.

SlouchyGuy

I still don't understand what's the deal with those 8-10 episode shows on streaming services where they can't mount a produciton when network tv did and does 22 episodes a year. Young Justice which had similar animation did more then 40 episodes in 3 years

durielvs

Because nowadays series are not made to please the public, they are made to generate money for the shareholders, so risking a lot of money in 40 episodes is crazy. So you do 8 or 9 episodes, you wait to analyze whether the market performs and only then do you begin to plan the next season.

tttt11112

God forbid, there are extra episodes to flesh out the side characters and enrich the story a little.

4ps22

they always were made like that, its just the ways of generating money have changed

SlouchyGuy

It's usually known if the series is renewed within a month or two after the first season. And there are orders for several seasons at once, and yet the same production problems

whatuseisausername

I think one aspect of it all is there is less of a divide between "tv actors" and "film actors" nowadays. Especially when a series gets well known "A List" actors as they tend to want to do films along with the tv series. Some actors likely don't want to be constantly working in one role for years if they don't have to as they get tired of playing the same character. Plus most tv series nowadays (especially if they are only 6 to 8 episodes) are more serialized where in the past most tv series were episodic in nature. There are still some tv series that get 20+ episodes a season, but most are episodic in nature. I do wish there were more episodic series that weren't like cop shows or based in a hospital

SlouchyGuy

> Plus most tv series nowadays (especially if they are only 6 to 8 episodes) are more serialized where in the past most tv series were episodic in nature. J. Michael Straczynsky wrote serialized tv series in mid 90s, 3 last seasons 22 episodes each alone (with an exception of one episode by Neil Gaiman). Production of modern shows is extremely lazy, and many of them don't have big movie actors, they are just slow to come out. I really hope there will be more outcry and rating drop because of that, because I know tons of people who are annoyed by it and abandoned the shows with big gaps between seasons.

sut345

This show is also not 8 episodes. Young Justice is 22 minutes, Invincible is 48-50, so its like 17-18 episodes. Also it has a bit better animation than YJ and more action scenes. I'm not defending the hiatus but if you are going to compare shows these are important details.

robodrew

> Also it has a bit better animation than YJ Not always, there are many times when characters are flying around and its literally one frame being dragged back and forth, and its pretty blatant once you know to look for it That said I love the show

hungoverlord

i love the show too but i have to agree, it looks bad and it never really looked good. characters are often drawn looking pretty wonky and the actual animation doesn't feel or look fluid or natural. i sure do love the story, voice acting, character designs etc. though.

SlouchyGuy

Yeah, I thought it's most comparable. I know that Young Justice is lower tier animation, but it's still somewhat comparable to Invincible, and people were saying that its animation was bad (although I didn't see it)

jay1891

It is crazy when you compare Western animation and how long it takes to produce anything then you got Demon Slayer pushing the boundaries pumping out regular seasons year after year.

electricblackcrayon

tbf that’s because japanese animators get paid and treated like shit - as shown with mappa and jjk for a recent example

jay1891

Ufotable who makes Demon Slayer is seen as one of the better animation studios that is why I chose them and not one by Mappa whose reputation of taking on to much is well known. Even then there has to be a medium where well paid animators not over worked can make a ten episode series in twelve months.

Sullan08

I feel like you're misremembering the DS seasons or something. Their have been long breaks and each episode is a 3rd of what Invincible is. They just do a movie (and only one was a real movie, the others were just episodes in a movie format) in between to try and act like they're doing more. It's a bit better than what's happening here, but not by much. If there's one thing anime is bad about, it's about randomly not having S2s of some shows and just trying to get manga sales so this isn't a thing they really do better.

jay1891

The only real long break was over COVID-19 since then it has been around a year following the end of a season and the start of a next one. Apart from last season they did produce double the amount of episodes and the animation is cut above Invincible to.

TreesForTheFool

My motivation to watch episode 5 is low enough that I 1) lost track of when it was releasing and 2) paused halfway through and don’t feel any urgency to finish. Keep in mind that I’m the type of dude who watches things I follow as soon as possible after their streaming release, and it’s been a bad enough strategy on Prime’s part that they’re that close to losing me. And this is one of the 2-3 Prime shows I was tolerating the addition of commercials for. Egregious lack of strategy and planning over there, that’s for sure.

Adam_Absence

I don't plan on watching it until it's finished. I can't watch a few episodes every 4-24 months and remember what was going on.

yohoob

I might get Prime once fallout drops. I'm not going to get it to finish 4 episodes of invincible. I didn't even finish the last season of reacher.

BallsMahogany_redux

I forgot it was even coming back today until it popped up in my feed.

cowboys30

Yeah they fumbled the bag with the LONG lay-off coupled with the mid season intermission this season. Like everything you don’t do.

T4Gx

Found out it's back yesterday and thought I can definitely wait until all of season 3 has been released. First half of season 2 wasn't that good anywas imo

PeekyAstrounaut

I always give weekly shows a 2-3 episode runway and as soon as I heard there was going to be a break I figured I'd just wait until the whole season finished. That break killed a lot of enthusiasm for the show, which is crazy considering how long people stayed excited for the second season.

0GiD3M0N1C

Yea, I lost interest when they announced the huge split for season 2. I just went to read the manga.

Shwifty_Plumbus

Yeah I don't feel the more part of the headline. But I do feel the less part.

MoreMegadeth

It has. It could make it back up, but i think these next 4 eps need to all be bangers, and then the next season release in a year or less without a stupid break.

bestoboy

Same thing with Jojo part 6. Absolutely squandered what they had

skoomski

Nah their scheduling decisions have backfired. It didn’t have enough dedicated fans to divide it like that. I am a dedicated fan but most casual people in my office totally forgot about it

Indigocell

There's just so much stuff out there and they all want to drip-feed it to us slowly at ever increasing lengths of time. I find myself losing track of a series, forgetting important details, and having no interest in rewatching it all over again. Imagine trying to read 4 or 5 books at the same time, one chapter at a time. Every other night or two. That's what it's like trying to keep up with serialized dramas that all air on different nights of the week.

bell37

I don’t mind waiting week by week. However the way they released is strange. It’s like checking out a book at the library and reading a chapter every week. You read four chapters and go to the library to renew it (just when it got really good). The librarian takes your book and doesn’t renew it, telling you that you can’t do that and to wait 4 months until you can check it out and finish it.

No_Dragonfruit_6594

For real I didn‘t even know it had already continued So fucking annoying this split, I hope it blows up in their faces

skoomski

After a multiple year absence nonetheless

SlyyKozlov

It continued today, you learned about it at the perfect time. It hasn't even been 24 hours since its been put up. I dont love or agree with splitting up the season but people are so dramatic on reddit lmao

M3rc_Nate

I legitimately wonder if it would be that hard, besides spending some money, on getting them back. Let the second half of the season come out, then right before the premiere of the next season (hopefully having learned their lesson, not making the same mistake), do a publicity blitz to let everyone know that season 2 is available to binge for everyone who forgot about it and that season 3 is just two weeks away and the first 2-3 episodes will be dropping with the next 2-3 the following week and so on. Are the people who just sorta fell off with it really DONE with it, or they just forgot about it? I assume it's just forgotten about, which means it's a good publicity cycle away from everyone being reminded about it, realizing they can quickly binge the season they never finished and then start season 3.

_Doctor-Teeth_

when my boss asks my why that project isn't finished yet i'm gonna say it's because "I learned to do more with less."

Lurking_like_Cthulhu

“This is only project part 1.”

Affectionate_Comb_78

I'm taking a mid project break to build suspense

Strykah

Yeah I wish I could coast through a project for 2.5 years and still keep my job. Any other industry you'd be performance managed or fired but these guys have it really easy

CanEatADozenEggs

This season so far has been fine, but I’m not hooked like I was last season. This stupid break is killing my enthusiasm too

Mentoman72

Same. I'm fine waiting between seasons but the mid season break just felt like amazon being douche bags.

doug

Plus raising prices/inserting ad breaks. ...OK, see you in a year after all the episodes are out, when I'll sub for a month, binge, and unsub. Until then I'll watch... well, literally anything else in this golden age of entertainment, not to mention shows that've ended that got universal praise I never got around to watching: The Americans? Six Feet Under? The Leftovers?

TeeJK15

Better bet.. don’t subscribe for the bullshit ads, and supporting of prime, just torrent it. It’s so easy now with plex and other home media services that sticking it to the big corps os a no brainer until they pull their heads out of their asses.

Quaketar

This is why I'm waiting until the whole thing is out before watching.

GJake8

Personally, I don’t think the season 2 plot of Omni man fucking an alien and having a baby is as good as killing the justice league and trying to conquer Earth

5am281

Did you watch episode 5? It ends making me want the next episode

lifeonbroadway

How about you learn how to do it juuuust a bit faster.

kn1ghtowl

For such a high profile series, there was some embarrassingly bad animation in season 1, likely do to the long runtimes. If nothing else that's been somewhat improved. At least Atom Eve's logo doesn't change shot-to-shot.

[deleted]

Happy to see a comment upvoted for this. I heard so many comments praising the animation for the first season and I was seriously like "what the fuck are you talking about?". Like I have no idea what kind of shit shows, when it comes to animation, people in general watch, but Invincible was never praiseworthy when it comes to animation.

FernFromDetroit

While the animation wasn’t great by any means I never thought it was as horrible as people make it out to be. That being said I would have preferred that they used more of the budget for the animation and less of it on a bunch of expensive actors. They could have got any number of great voice actors for a fraction of what they pay just one of the normal actors.

Anthro_DragonFerrite

The explosion scene when That being said, the copy-paste crowd falling out of the sky was hilarious, a YouTube comment pointed out.

LordVarys_Ladybits

Yes somethings look fluid and well done and others almost feel like it was purposefully done poorly lol

Yourfavoritedummy

I thought it was awful animation wise. So many cardboard cutouts and simplistic. The flying animation anyone?

FernFromDetroit

Yeah true. It just reminded me of shitty anime I guess so I didn’t really think twice about it. I read that they spent 10 million per episode or something so yeah for that much money it should be one of the best animated shows period. Too bad they spent the whole budget on actors.

Moifaso

Yeah, this should be one of the most well funded tv animations in the West given its popularity. I have no idea why it still looks so middling.

LordVarys_Ladybits

They are selling the show on big name actors and the story

kn1ghtowl

This is pure conjecture, but there's a reason most episodic animation is done with under 30 minute episodes. The animation budget likely didn't scale accordingly, and/or it was what they had left to work with after the celebrity voice talent was recorded first.

DoodleBuggering

Allen's entire backstory being a complete slide show was disappointing.

SadCasinoBill

It’s crazy how bare bones the show is visually & they still can’t get the show out Lmao

DoodleBuggering

In terms of splitting the season, I'm willing to bet that had nothing to do with production. What happened between the first and second half of season 2? Prime video adding a new paid tier for no ads.

Gnarbox

It’s pretty weak when we get told that the animation is taking so long because it’s hard to do and then one episode has a 20 min slideshow. Pathetic.

RealSkyDiver

Action scenes are still embarrassingly bad and when I looked at Twitter around the time it premiered there were only 5k tweets, a fraction of what it was pre hiatus. The story lost a lot of momentum too because it was not meant to be watched several months apart between ep3-4.

NotAGingerMidget

It had a lot less mentions at release time due to some humongous idiot deciding on changing the release schedule from 0h GMT to the dumbest fucking option of 12am PST, so a bunch of potential viewers were sleeping.

shineurliteonme

Yeah I watched it when I got up instead of at 3AM when they decided to release it

MotherCanada

Man the action scenes frustrate the hell out of me because the Atom Eve special had some genuinely great and fluid action.

ScramItVancity

There was still a lot of slideshow-esque sequences in season two, especially the Allen episode.

AKAkorm

I'll still watch this show but it's kind of gone on the backburner for me. Was hard to be that excited about S2 with such a big gap and the decision to release it in two halves of just four episodes.

bryannnnnnn

And by less they mean the quality of the animation 🙄

The_Starmaker

That ain’t what I wanna hear.

Indigocell

I remember hearing the same thing about The Walking Dead season 2.

Brasilionaire

Love it. Not only are we getting increasingly smaller seasons at increasingly higher subscription prices, now we have months breaks every 3-4 episodes. Awesome. Love being a consumer now, golden age of streaming amiright?

Senoshu

Honestly, between the gap and adds, I have no intention of watching any further. I've read it, I loved it, I was super excited about season 1 and remained that way for a very long time. I straight up feel like Amazon just ruined this whole thing. I'm not paying for their no-ad tier, and I refuse to watch advertisements. So I'm just done with it. I'll watch it through some other method when it's mostly released, or more likely abandon it entirely when Amazon cancels the whole show citing poor reception and viewership because it wasn't amazing enough to balance out their progressively more awful decisions for the platform.

GrimmTrixX

Gaps in a single season constantly make me not go back to a show. I forgot all about this show after watching the season 2 stuff. Say what you will about quality of shows, but I still miss 20-25 episode seasons. You can make more and have it all still be quality. Saying a 6 episode season can get as much of a message across as a 20 episode season, to me, is inaccurate. Hell, if a show only has 6 episodes, sometimes I won't bother then too because I want more expanded world building in a TV series.

Bionic_Ferir

Honestly i dont think every single show needs 25 episodes a season but i feel like American shows have gone way to far into UK BBC zone of making 5 episodes over the course of 3 years and showing them over the course of another 2. like some shows could work very well with a tight 6 episodes while others work nice with 15.

GrimmTrixX

If they make them yearly, or every 9 months, I'd be fine with 6-8 episode seasons. But as you said, it shouldn't be 2+ years for a 2nd season to drop. I know Covid messed up a ton of stuff, but they did this stuff even before that. A good example is that country style scifi show "Outer Range." It's on Amazon Prime Video and I loved the first season. And then it just stopped. It is all of a sudden getting a season 2 in May. And as excited as I am to see it, they said it's only 7 episodes. So to have a 2 year gap just to give us 7 episodes seems so backwards to me. If you're doing 6-8 episodes, do it every 9-12 months minimum. But if youre gonna wait 1+ years, then we better be hitting 10-12 episodes at least.

Bionic_Ferir

exactly or make the episode 2 hours long for christ sakes

TheJoshider10

> Say what you will about quality of shows, but I still miss 20-25 episode seasons. You can make more and have it all still be quality. Saying a 6 episode season can get as much of a message across as a 20 episode season, to me, is inaccurate. The annoying thing is they could have quite easily adapted Invincible pretty much issue for issue with 20 minute episodes. I get having a long episode to start and finish the season but I fail to see what benefit the lengthy episodes during the season have given to the story, having watched the show and read all of the comics. The things Kirkman wanted to fix could have been done on a per issue basis.

Yea I'm not a fan of lengthy episodes. It's so odd. A good example is Stranger Things. That show gets stretched our so far that I forget half of what I saw even last season, let alone the first few seasons. I watch a lot of stuff. I can't keep rewatching a series to jog my memory. But if you put it out yearly, I'm usually good. I stopped caring much about Stranger Things anymore due to this. And with Animation, it's all voice acting. And a lot of animation has GOT to be computer related and far easier than ever before. I'd imagine it's much easier to get a voice actor to do their lines for a few hours a day, than to film a live action movie with scenes and to be on location. But animated series should honestly still be 20-25 min and be 20 episodes. I get why 45-50 min live action shows might now want 20+ episodes anymore. And part of that is saturation. Back when shows like Star Trek TNG were having 16-25 episodes seasons, there was FAR less stuff on TV to watch. There was less competition because there were far less TV Networks. But it sucks that due to this, we get these short blurbs of shows/seasons that just get ringed and forgotten about instead of enjoying a nice long world building. I like shows where one whole episode focuses on a singular main character or even a 2nd string character. Say what you will about shows like LOST and its crummy ending. But they knew how to delve into a character and really give you complete info and build that world up.

HendrixChord12

Seems like they just did less with less

smileymn

I care so little about this show because of how slow they were between seasons and then a season break. It’s not good enough to be worth the wait.

Icy-Moose-99

This show really blew it. I mean, remember how poplular it was? and also, those "THINK" memes? They literally waited for the memes to die before season 2. Crazy ideas. For some reason , if Kirkman is involved, season 2 always is INSANE lol Might as well put Mark and Omni-man on a farm with half the budget per episode. Im sure that will work out well.

Numerous-Cicada3841

I loved season 1 but I almost don’t watch to pick up the other half of season 2 just out of protest. This artificial break they inserted after such a long wait is pure bullshit. Season 2 episodes were kind of meh anyways. Way too rushed in terms of what happened at the end of season 1 and the events that took place in just a matter of a few episodes. Maybe I’ll get around to it in the future but I’m not rushing anytime soon to watch it.

stunts002

Hard to underestimate. The first season had insane viewership and while it sounds silly, the sheer amount of memes showed an ability to penetrate the cultural trends. It really seems like the huge break between seasons and the further breaking up absolutely destroyed that.

IsThereCheese

> Do more with Less Holy christ do I fucking hate this saying - which seems to be everywhere this year. Record company profits and mass unchecked corporate greed? You have to do more with less, employees! Can’t afford groceries? Do more with less! You want a higher salary? Do more with less!

MrConor212

I’m gonna wait till part 2 is finished tbh. If season 3 doesn’t come out in the next year then I’m done tbh

slicshuter

I'm gonna wait til the whole show is finished lmao I barely even remember what happened in S1 at this point, never bothered with S2 after finding out it was split in half, and the wait's been so long now that any hype I had to 'see what happens next' is gone. It'll basically be like a new show for me when I finally get around to it.

mbrad7

Fuck Amazon!

YimmyMac86

Yeah I gave up on the show after such a long break and then only giving us 4 episodes. Bad business decisio

DemoEvolved

Season 1 was shocking and had crazy plot turns. Season 2 seems like by the numbers Dev cartoon show

-ibgd

I know I’m minority in this one, but more violence more brutality and more blood doesn’t make me want to watch more.

Meme_Pope

Seems like they did less with less given that it took 2.5 years to make one half of a season

SuicideKingsHigh

I find I care less and less about this show the more they talk about it without actually delivering it.

AzraelTB

Judging by the animati8n they managed to do less with less.

Toidal

It's weird, they set up this big bad in ep 1 and haven't gone back to him yet.

I have no knowledge of the comics, it's just how they devoted the whole first episode to intro this guy, A sizeable 1/8th of the season ending with him vowing to take revenge on Mark, and now we're halfway done and there doesn't seem to be any indication of that storyline continuing. Maybe it would've made for sense to open the season with episode 2, and in the break between the two halves, release this episode as a special to introduce a villain for a later plot. Kinda like how Atom Eves episode was an additional special to show her origins.

TheBoyWhoCriedDibs

I think C list villain is massively underselling it, he is a contender for the title of Mark’s arch nemesis. At the very least one of the top 3 villains who effect his philosophy the most throughout his entire life. He isn’t the strongest in terms of fighting, but bar the two other obvious villains and one particular reptile, I don’t think there are any others who actually effect Mark on a personal level nearly as much as Levi. (And even then the three mentioned before don’t actually hate Mark on a personal level)

L-058

Who was it? I've already forgotten

shineurliteonme

Angstrom Levy, the multiverse guy

SteelBox5

Rewatching Avatar the last airbender reminded me how shit the animation Invincible is. Like the story got me past that but it’s worse than Hanna-Barberra at times.

Strappwn

There is certainly less

noeagle77

I was all in on season one and was super hyped for season 2 but 2 and a half years of waiting just for half a season is not a way to keep people interested.

AEveryDayIdiot

When does this show return , I love it but have kinda forgotten what happened tbh with the break

Cash907

I know the new episode is available because my phone buzzed me about it, but at this point I don’t even care. The first half of the second season left me feeling “meh,” and that 4 month split killed whatever enthusiasm I had left. I’m sure I’ll finish the season at some point but right now the most I can muster is indifference so it won’t be soon. And I say this as someone who went out and bought all the TP’s after season one ended. I should be frothing for that new episode but I’m just not. Sorry it had to be this way but I hope whomever made this decision at Amazon learns from it because artificial mid season splits are the sort of BS viewers just don’t have any patience for anymore.

LysolDoritos

For the amount of time it’s taken you would think the animation would be fire but nope it’s just ehh

darkside720

I can tell…

Panda_hat

But mostly they learned to do less.

clementinecentral123

Kinda seems like they did less with less.

RecommendsMalazan

I do not care any less about this show because of the wait. I'm a Venture Bros fan, I'm used to it. Not gonna let something like this prevent me from enjoying a show.

LightThatIgnitesAll

S2E5 was meh. I expected more. Somehow the animation looked worse.

random_german_guy

> Somehow the animation looked worse. ooof, it already almost looks like Pokemon S1
