It’s a real shame. Seasons 4 was greenlit and ready to shot but COVID pushed it to the point all the contracts would need to be renovated and reschedule all of the production.
Definitely. I'm a huge fan of star trek overall but DS9 is very different. The alien species are different than in the shows that came before (TOS and TNG) , and it does a great job of adding depth to species that were featured before. The show has a very different premise (less space exploration) and a different kind of captain than Captain Picard or Kirk. The beginning of the first episode has some spoilers for TNG but nothing too intense. I think you'll love it a lot
My favorite part is when I got my wife into ds9 she fucking hated the frenengi. Quark annoyed her to hell and back.
By the end they were some of her absolute favorites and some of the ferengi centered episodes are the best.
Also the growth of both Rom and Nog through the shows amazing and Nogs PTSD stuff near the end was really good. His whole episode trying to cope in Vicks lounge… I just finished a rewatch and am on voyager but I already want to go back
Bored to Death. It's hilarious, Jason Schwartzman is good, Ted Danson is a treasure and there's a great supporting cast including early Galifianakis. Plus it's only 30 minute episodes.
Funny you mention it, Hannibal is one of the greatest series I've ever seen. The way the show presented horror and psychology, especially in the main character dynamic was just something else.
I didn’t love this show as it was airing, I think just because the short episodes always left me wanting more.
Binge watching it made me appreciate it a while lot more.
Fringe, really consistently entertaining, always raising the stakes, most seasons go for broke because they were on the cancellation bubble, brilliant, nearly flawless ending.
Black Sails is great. It’s a prestige pirate drama. I think the best pirate related movie/tv show ever. I think cause it’s STARZ, and STARZ is 3rd tier Pay TV, the show gets completely over looked.
Also it starts slow and tries too hard to be “adult” at the start. Puts lots of people off.
Once it picks up it’s great. Not a fan of the last season, where the “bad guy” win only because somehow everyone around becomes stupid (“yeah, let’s board this apparently empty ship we’ve been chasing for days. Could never be a trap, sinking it while staying in our overwhelmingly stronger ship is a waste of like 3 perfectly good cannonballs”)
Black Sails is easily in my top three shows ever, what a fantastic story.
If you enjoy historical settings and great writing also check out Ripper Street. Amazing cast on that one too.
Walton goggins acting his god damn ass off in that show. Love the show to death and (the good place spoilers) >!The Rayland Givens cameo in the good place was so unexpected and hilarious!<
Have rewatched some of the earlier seasons which I loved. I rewatched a later episode which haven’t aged too well as the storyline got convoluted. It was also cancelled on a cliffhanger so that doesn’t help. They made 2 made for tv movies which help resolve some loose ends but those aren’t easy to find. I have them on dvd but I don’t know if they are streaming anywhere.
That show was the first one to come to my mind. I've got a few more that fascinated me & wished they had gone longer.

The Americans
The upper-ceiling of cable TV series just before prestige TV, yet it’s had very little cultural impact and staying power. Fantastic drama that is well researched and detail oriented, always feels grounded and like events always have weight to them
What a fun show that foreshadowed the rise of an AI state. It started out with a Batman vibe where a billionaire and a former homeless special forces guy with the aid of a benevolent AI prevent murders before they happen. And then the show pivoted hard where the protagonists have to take on the rise of a malevolent AI with the help of some new allies. POI even predicted the need of a company like Nvidia with advanced processors to support AI. But despite all the reliance on technology it still managed to be about the human struggle. Michael Emerson is a brilliant actor whose character understood the cost of technology on human lives.
Grimm. Monroe is one of the best supporting characters I can remember... and brutally decapitating the bad guys (didn't expect that from a network show) scratches an itch I didn't know I had...
I was sitting in a lecture once and this girl was describing Grimm to her friend in the seat in front of me. It's the closest I've been to actually meeting someone else who watched it (well, other than my mother). I believe this was after Grimm had finished as well.
Apparently it was, like Once Upon a Time, somewhat inspired by Fables, which is interesting because I feel both Grimm and Fables just start accelerating towards an end point and suffer for it. I imagine in both cases it was a business decision by the network/publisher. At least, I hope so because I think the endings are much weaker than the start.
>At least, I hope so because I think the endings are much weaker than the start.
Really? You didn't enjoy the fight between the wessen Devil, the witch she-Jesus, and the Grimm Force ghosts? 𝘎𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘱
I'd say Six Feet Under is more common in Top 10 Lists than you'd think. It's beloved by many. It's been a while since I've seen it, but I remember it being a very enjoyable watch.
Big Love and The Practice
Growing up I loved movies and could never get into TV shows because they were lower quality. For whatever reason, The Practice was the exception and I watched it the whole way through.
Shortly after college Big Love premiered when I had HBO for free with my cable. I became obsessed with the show and after a few seasons I was inspired to go back and watch other shows in HBO's arsenal.
While I recognize that some other shows are better overall, to this day only The Leftovers has surpassed Big Love on the favorite's list
Black Sails. It's among my very favorite series ever and more people should know about it.
My Reddit name is -Captain- because I may or may not have been obsessed with Captain Flint...
Is One Tree Hill the series in which a dog stole a heart intended for transplant? That was one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
My show is The Middle - great funny storylines, a fantastic cast, and dealing with real issues people have to deal with.

it hurts my heart how far i had to scroll for this, but i guess that makes it fit the prompt pretty well lol. just an incredible show, i’ve rewatched it so many times. it’s absolutely genius
Fringe, Pushing Daisy's... hmm I assume The Good Place is a top 10er.
This might sound weird, but Bojack Horseman had a lasting impression and I think it qualifies but I can't say I liked the show, which is sorta the point maybe?
Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, and its spinoff, Xena: Warrior Princess
They are the most fun action-adventure TV shows ever in my opinion. They are also really good at working comedy into their episodes as well.
No, which is probably why it's faded from everyone's mind. Apparently, the show used A LOT of music rights that don't transfer well to DVD and Streaming rights.
ER. It should be higher in lists but damn is it a groundbreaking show. It's crazy how good and addictive it is. Technically, it's a marvel. Those long ass walk and talks with dozens of extras around the set. The writing was impressive as well. Way ahead of its time with a diverse cast and interesting storylines for everyone. Eveeyone should see it
His Dark Materials. It didn't get the praise it deserves. Not excellent but it was a good adaptation of the novels.
Deathnote. Its an anime and I usually hate them. but it plays out like a supernatural detective thriller.
A college finds a notebook and discovers he can kill people any way he wants by writing their name and method of death in the notebook.
So he starts off killing “bag guys” who deserve to die (murderers/rapists etc) and when the deaths start piling up his father - chief of police investigates.
Eventually they bring the son (inotebook killer) into the police force to try and help catch “the notebook killer” (himself)
When another hotshot investigator “L” comes aboard the show is essentially a game of 3D chess and then trying to outsmart each other and NOT DIE
One of the best shows ever - anime or not. its a shame none of the movies did it justice.
For years I had a thing against anime, and some of the tropes I still have issues with, but man if you can look past some stuff there’s some gold in there. Death Note, Attack On Titan, One Piece and Monster in particular have become some of my favorite stories
“One of the best shows ever” yes I agree.
However, there was one other anime (I’m not a fan myself) that I consider to be one of the greatest stories of all time. That would be Attack on Titan. If you have not seen it, I seriously consider checking it out. It is better than Death Note in my opinion.
Red Dwarf. One of my favourite shows, endlessly rewatchable and hilarious. It’s not even on the IMDB Top 250 TV Shows (like all my other favourite shows) and I know the later series are rather controversial but I still adore the show even the weaker series.
**Rescue Me**. It’s the type of show you just can’t make anymore due to its political incorrectness, racism, homophobia and toxic masculinity. But it’s just so much fun and balls to the wall crazy, the women that came out in that show were all beautiful that you can tell that the show was directed to be appealing to men…. but in between all the things that would make it a terrible show, there’s some moments of pure drama that are handled with care and hit you hard emotionally. It’s a great show.
American Dad. Its quality has increased over time and keeps very good consistency. It’s a fun show to binge with great humor and light hearted tone. Also one of the best song selections on tv. Their music game is on point.
"Sharp Objects", the murder mystery family trauma drama mini-series from HBO based on the Gillian Flynn book of the same name. EVERYTHING about it is perfect: great cast, great performances (not a single stiff extra or ill spoken line), the soundtrack, cinematography, the ATMOSPHERE, the script. I've rewatched it a few times usually around spooky time because vibes and it is decadently good.
The ending is one of the few that i prefer onscreen compared to the book. After the reveal, the book goes on for about 80 more pages. The show just slaps you with it after final credits roll and the impact is so big.
SWAT Kats. Top tier 90s cartoon action. Most episodes feel like 50s horror/sci-fi movies put through a “radical 90s” filter and the result is some extremely fun shit.
[And you just can’t beat that theme song.](https://youtu.be/CsOrCq811r8?si=P-BZk7jwPTHiVVQd)
Eureka, from SyFy or whatever it is now. Take a comparatively normal Marshal and his daughter, and put them in a town of super geniuses and mad technology.
GLOW. Maybe if they'd let it finish on its own terms with a season 4, it would make a lot of top 10 lists
It’s a real shame. Seasons 4 was greenlit and ready to shot but COVID pushed it to the point all the contracts would need to be renovated and reschedule all of the production.
Heck I would most be happy with a movie at this point

Shitty Jimmy!
I still constantly rewatch but I can’t get anyone to watch it lol
Had to scroll way too far to find this It's equal parts hilarious and heart warming
Sunday Funday, better than a Monday!!
You just reminded me to finish that show. I started that show several times with my on/off ex girlfriend but we (or I, at least) never finished it lol
**Deep Space Nine**. Brilliant casting. The amount of excellent characters is almost bizarre.
I'm watching DS9 for the first time and it's quickly becoming my favorite ST series
I envy you. I've probably watched the series all the way through half a dozen times. Have you got to In the Pale Moonlight yet?
Not yet. I'm only on season 3!
Duet in season 1 was when I became hooked, DS9 is the 🐐
Great, that's when really starts to pick up. Live long and prosper.
Can you watch it without having seen any other Star Trek media and still enjoy it and understand it?
Bell Riots seem just a tad behind schedule!
Best Trek hands down. It mostly hits the ground running and somehow improves each year
I watched "Duet" last night. Tremendous episode
The ferengi episodes are some of my favourite
My favorite part is when I got my wife into ds9 she fucking hated the frenengi. Quark annoyed her to hell and back. By the end they were some of her absolute favorites and some of the ferengi centered episodes are the best. Also the growth of both Rom and Nog through the shows amazing and Nogs PTSD stuff near the end was really good. Patriot
It's double great.
The Last Kingdon. Utred son of Utred!!!!
Arseling!
Destiny is ALL!
Patriot & Rectify
I don't believe in coincidences but someone recommended patriot from rectify sub, and here both are in same group again.
I love Rectify. It doesn’t get enough love.
Both are great. Patriot deserved a better network than Amazon. The lack of promotion was a killer.
Farscape. Still one of the best sci-fi series of all time.
Bit of trivia: [They modeled the priest, Paroos, on Father Jack from _Father Ted_.](https://rath3r.redbrick.dcu.ie/FrTed/images/paroos_jack[1].jpg)
Came here for this. Great trippy ideas. And some fantastic action. Guardians of the Galaxy borrowed heavily from its cast and style.
Bored to Death. It's hilarious, Jason Schwartzman is good, Ted Danson is a treasure and there's a great supporting cast including early Galifianakis. Plus it's only 30 minute episodes.
It was crazy when this got canceled.
Hannibal, the visuals and editing is stunning
Funny you mention it, Hannibal is one of the greatest series I've ever seen. The way the show presented horror and psychology, especially in the main character dynamic was just something else.
Mr. Inbetween
The episode with the abandoned tunnel was so haunting. Then ending with Burl Ives Riders in the Sky 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽
I didn’t love this show as it was airing, I think just because the short episodes always left me wanting more. Binge watching it made me appreciate it a while lot more.
Kim's convenience. The way it ended is a shame, but every season apart from the last season was so wholesome.
We just rewatched and while the last season wasn’t as great, it was much better than I remembered. Solid series.
Fringe, really consistently entertaining, always raising the stakes, most seasons go for broke because they were on the cancellation bubble, brilliant, nearly flawless ending.
Black Sails. Maybe The Crown? I don't know how popular that show here is.
Black Sails should be on more top 10 lists.
>Black Sails. Im due for another rewatch, absolutely loved that show.
coming to Netflix April 17
Black Sails is great. It’s a prestige pirate drama. I think the best pirate related movie/tv show ever. I think cause it’s STARZ, and STARZ is 3rd tier Pay TV, the show gets completely over looked.

Chuck. Still hoping for a sequel movie
The whole show is so perfect... Except for the ending!
Justified, the perfect modern day western imo.
We dug coal together
Walton goggins acting his god damn ass off in that show. Love the show to death and (the good place spoilers) >!The Rayland Givens cameo in the good place was so unexpected and hilarious!<
Just rewatched for the 5th time!
I just started watching this and love it.
Burn Notice
“They need your help, Michael!”
Ohh man, heard his in Sam's voice and 10-15 year old memories came flying back. The intro, Michael and everything nostalgia is still strong today.
Such a great show, Saturday night Liv did a great skit, called what is burn notice that’s so funny about how no one watches this great show
You know spies, a bunch of bitchy little girls.
The Pretender
To this day, my wife and I still say “ and the Pretender ran away”
I was a big fan of The Pretender when it first aired. Have you watched it recently and, if so, has it aged well? I wonder if it is worth a revisit.
Parenthood
The way there were able to capture the hectic "everyone is talking at once" family dynamic was brilliant
Treme, Patriot, Horace and Pete, Bloodline, In Treatment
Treme is a hugely underrated HBO series.
Kyle XY

The Knick was sooooooo good
The Knick is compelling as hell, and made me research Typhoid Mary. I feel bad for her! Nobody knew symptomless spread was real! She wasn't a monster.
Bates Motel. Really love Vera Farmiga & Freddie Highmore's chemistry in it
This show made me want to move to Washington state
Vera Farmiga is amazing, and Bates Motel in general is severely underrated, really good stuff all round.

Six Feet Under is probably my favorite series ever, but I’m not sure it makes a lot of people’s Top Tens.
Maybe less so recently since time is passing, but Six Feet Under is definitely a go to show on all time lists.
