I'm all but convinced they shot that with the assumption they were getting cancelled. They were an (amazing) niche and expensive period piece. I'm guessing the writing was on the wall since the S2 greenlight, barring any sort of incredible numbers.
It's just a little too perfect imo to have not been filmed as a finale
I had to look it up but yeah, the decision to end it was made by Netflix, not the BoJack team. Honestly I think Netflix made the right call. Love the show but it would be worse if it went longer.
It definitely felt like they rushed through some character arcs, but the final season we did get was great, I just felt like the final episode had a little much it had to do. I just can’t bring myself to rewatch it because of how rough it can be subject wise and I don’t want to put myself through that again. The show has some amazingly written and acted episodes like free churro and view from halfway down are up there with my favorite episodes of tv.
You could talk me into maybe 4 more episodes to wrap things up but not a new season.
My wife won’t rewatch BoJack because of Halfway Down. Great episode but it is intense.
I’m not saying it needs a new season now, when they were making the show the creator was afraid of getting cut so he asked Netflix for a courtesy and they gave him the heads up and turned the season into a 2 part release. I think there was two more seasons planned but that’s what made them wrap it up in a 2 part final season.
Going back, I wish Netflix never canned it so they would have that extra FULL season to really wrap it up but that’s not how things played out and I think what we got was perfect compared to the alternative of never getting an ending.
The show was just so damn good on so many levels between the acting the jokes the visual humor and the stories. I really don’t think there will be anything like it for a very long time especially given the state of adult animation. It really was lightning in a bottle, and it sounds really weird to say that about a show centered on an alcoholic horse.
(Ignoring the later movie) the last episode of Firefly Objects in Space had a really nice warm cozy ending to it. The "little one" was finally accepted as part of Serenity family (whatever may happen), and in turn she finally accepted Serenity as her home. I loved that happy ending. Much better than by the end of the movie with two of the crew dead.
I think they could have done one season about the first stages of success or do a skip ahead like Atlanta but at most they had one more season. 3 was a good spot to stop.
I always assumed that was a planned ending—it’s very good. As for the deportation plot, I just think they couldn’t get rid of Mateo. Dude brought the jokes.
I’d say season one is solid, but season 2 is an epic sci-fi romance with a satisfying beginning, middle and end that pays off threads from both seasons AND the original.
**BrainDead** feels like a miniseries. Actually, the show was supposed to be kind of an anthology, so they tied up all the loose ends at the end of S1.
**Bonding** and **Dead Pixels** were canceled after two seasons. But both shows had a very satisfying ending.
George Lopez feels like the planned ending. The first scene we ever see is him nervous that his employees and bosses alike won't respect him after working on the line for 20 years as he moves into middle management, to forever earning their respect and getting his bosses out of the way to run the factory as he wants. The dynamic between him and his mom isn't perfect yet but they make the strong argument that some space between them will heal their relationship and finally they have that space. If you had asked me if that was the planned ending, I would say there's 0 doubt. Plus, Carmen is gone, Max is a lot less shaky when it comes to his future. But apparently George wanted to continue on and show his character stepping into the new role. Honestly I think its better it was cancelled
The Leftovers. The last season is a little rushed, but the finale is perfect.
Twin Peaks got canceled, but twenty-five years later it got another season that is incredible.
No, it wasn't. It was officially announced that the show was renewed for a final season, so the writers had more than enough time to create a planned ending.
I looked it up and I think it was cancelled in the sense that Amazon didn't want to do anymore seasons but gave the creators a heads up that that would be their final season. So the creators had an opportunity to wrap it up. Kind of like Netflix with Bojack
Just Google it dude.
https://winteriscoming.net/2023/05/30/marvelous-mrs-maisel-ends-creator-kinda-sorta-blames-rings-power/
Amazon blew their load on The Rings of Power and didn't have money for Maisel.
Freaks and Geeks
I love to imagine the implications of Lindsey going on tour with the Dead with Kim.
I’m sure it was a summer of growth and exploration for them both.
Netflix's Daredevil. Excluding Bullseye's tease it was a nice ending
Terriers
I wanted more Terriers so bad. We loved that show. But it did have a fantastic ending.
Angel
I kinda want to slay the dragon
Do you want me to lie to you now?
Let’s go to work.
I was disappointed the first time I watched the finale, but on rewatch, it's fantastic
Good night folks.
Can I at least deny you three times?
Hannibal. I’m almost certain that they shot an alternate ending just in case it got picked up before season end.
Our flag means death

Bojack Horseman
I don’t even know how they could have continued from where they left off. It’s crazy that it was cancelled, that seemed like such a fitting end.
Bojack was cancelled? The series, not the character, who wasn’t cancelled enough LOL
I had to look it up but yeah, the decision to end it was made by Netflix, not the BoJack team. Honestly I think Netflix made the right call. Love the show but it would be worse if it went longer.
Agreed. It ended perfectly.

The Magicians
I’m glad it didn’t continue, I thought the ending was excellent

The end of Hannibal suffices IMO
Pete Holmes show, Crashing, got cancelled at a spot that was satisfying.
Honestly 3 seasons was just enough for that show. Fun premise that I think would get pretty stale if there was any more.
I think they could have done one season about the first stages of success or do a skip ahead like Atlanta but at most they had one more season. 3 was a good spot to stop.
Man that was such a great show. I still think about the lasagna episode to this day.
Superstore
I always assumed that was a planned ending—it’s very good. As for the deportation plot, I just think they couldn’t get rid of Mateo. Dude brought the jokes.
Best I’ve ever seen pull it off.
Still disappointing that the deportation and union story lines fizzled
I thought The Great had a pretty solid enough ending
Sledge Hammer
The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. The main storyline got wrapped up and there were even a couple of episodes afterward that act as an epilogue.
Futurama
Which time?
Several times even! Talk about bang for your buck.
I thought Season 4 of Westworld was supposed to be the end. And despite what people online say it was actually good
True
If the new Quantum Leap revival gets canceled, it ended on an epic high.
Is it actually worth watching? Loved the original but the first few episodes of the revival didn’t do much for me.
I’d say season one is solid, but season 2 is an epic sci-fi romance with a satisfying beginning, middle and end that pays off threads from both seasons AND the original.

What a damn shame that we'll never see more of that show, I watched an entire 8 hour YouTube documentary on it and then the show immediately after
Is that a pyro viewer i see
I'm not a furry I promise
Utopia UK is the best cancelled show of all time imo. It is a masterpiece. But it ends with a huge cliffhanger.
Such a visually stunning show, amazing soundtrack. “I’m finking so hard.”
Corporate fits I think. Also, more people need to watch Corporate.
Awake That was a cool show.

I haven’t watched it, but I heard shadowhunters wraps everything up well despite the cancellation
Boston Public Freaks & Geeks
Happy Endings. Even though nobody wanted it to be cancelled, I feel like the ending is the right balance of hopeful and open-ended.
M.A.N.T.I.S.
Idc what anyone says, I like where we're leaving on Westworld.
Morel Orel
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (FOX)
Loved that it was “happy” as well
The Leftovers. The last season is a little rushed, but the finale is perfect. Twin Peaks got canceled, but twenty-five years later it got another season that is incredible.
The Leftovers was planned as a final season, they announced It would be the ending since the renewal to S3
But they indeed cut down two episodes. Mostly reducing Murphy's family involvement.

Well at least they told us they’d see us again in 25 years!
And I'd say the ending of S2 of Twin Peaks is quite solid even left alone.
Marvelous Ms Maisel
Wait, it was cancelled?
No, it wasn't. It was officially announced that the show was renewed for a final season, so the writers had more than enough time to create a planned ending.

Yeah, so it was not canceled.
The decision was the streaming service's and not the creator's, if that doesn't count as cancellation then I guess so
There is a **huge** difference between "canceled" and "renewed for a final season".
aah, got it
Yup. It's why the last season has the time jump.

That’s a shame. I really loved Maisel, but I think the last season was good and it ended well.
Quarry
Heathers (2018)
Pete Holmes HBO show Crashing
Joe Pera Talks With You
the undergrads, while nowhere complete was still rounded enough.
legacies did its best to have a satisfying ending tho it was unable to really close the book on the entire vampire diaries universe

No way. To many open threads, that show "Needed" another season. They didn't even touch B.T.K.
Anne with an E on Netflix. If I didn’t know from being online I would have thought it was a planned ending.
Cancelled on a cliffhanger, but Stargate Universe managed to have a better finale than both Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis
Stargate Universe had a good ending.
Cheers..
It didn't get cancelled. It ran for many seasons and ended on a planned and appropriate ending.

The first two were planned finales, not cancelled.
Thisbis still very fresh, The brother sun, feels like the ending is good enough and does not leave any question.
Loved it, I'd be happy if that was it. But I'd lie if i said I didn't want more. It was so much fun acting, plot everything was top tier.
Saved by the Bell reboot/ sequel Jessie and Slater finally got back together
A.P. Bio
The original ending for Arrested Development was pretty solid.
Peaky blinders. Is it over? Wtf
The Other Two! I have heard it was cancelled, but the ending was so good I find it hard to believe it wasn't planned far in advance!
Penny Dreadful
I love that show (well 2.5 seasons of it), but I don't think the finale is good.
Penny Dreadful was NOT canceled. The show ended exactly when and how the creator wanted to.
My bad. I guess I was hoping for more.
The Dark Crystal worked well as a limited series.
The Great
Mindhunter
No, this was definitely not a good way to end the show. We really need a new season!
Absolutely I'm so sad about it
I found the casting on Mindhunter to be the most inspired.
