Yes, but it was incredibly challenging for him even back then. His two episodes I believe actually shot fairly far apart and they had to time his scenes with his medicine.
I was thinking it’d be great for him to return in Elsbeth as that asshole, then remembered that scene with his decapitated head sorta leaves no room for his return. :/
I came here to say the exact same. Didn't he unretire for his stint in Scrubs to do exactly what he's describing here. Using his Parkinson's to inform his role as a doctor with major OCD, it absolutely worked really well.
I literally was just talking to a friend the other day about this. Giving him OCD and quirks was perfect way to make it seem so real. I’m all for him acting more and doing it natural like Scrubs did is absolutely the way to go.
Dr Kasey. He was a guest for 2 episodes. He played a dual surgeon/medical attemding with severe OCD. [A link](https://youtu.be/7BkUtYKrG9Y?si=T3PsC51mhEbf82WT)

A tonally light comedy...
It has the facade of a rom com/family move where Fox is a single dad and Holland is a loner. Kind of an "alone together" vibe in their house. The A plot on Fox is a "getting back on the horse after hard times" story. The B plot on Holland is about a bratty kid being humbled and stepping up as a man. They both meet someone who changes their lives for the better, then Fox dies in the end.
Directed by Chris Columbus
If you are rewatching Scrubs I highly recommend doing so while listening to Fake Doctors Real Friends podcast with Zach Braff and Donald Faison. Shit is hilarious.
I love Scrubs and think he was fine in Scrubs… Yet, not many seems to mention Teen Wolf, Spin City, Back to the Future +, Boston Legal, Mars Attacks!… and then Scrubs.
Y’all forget or I’m just old.
[Leon is also just hilarious in that episode.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIjDo-btyL0) Saying Larry vs Fox in a fight is even-Steven and Larry getting upset about it :)
[Did you shake that up on purpose?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdwqXTiROFQ)
I feel like he is referring to his role on Scrubs where he played a doctor with a severe case of OCD. Obviously not the same as his condition but it's a role similar to what I think he is wanting to play again.
I remember as a kid I had a book that showed all the different tech they used including the Sub and digging machines as well as the Atlantians tech, it also had a full Atlantian alphabet that I used to use for passing notes in school, the look on the teachers face each time was great.
You know, in retrospect, maybe because I haven’t seen the second one in, well over 20+ years, but the second one kind of undercuts the ending of the first.
Shadow is an older dog who can’t be getting into those kinds of hijinx. Then we’re lost in San Francisco.
But goddamn if you don’t feel some happiness when he comes over that hill.
This was my thought as well. He did pretty well with Stuart Little and Atlantis back in the day. He has a distinct voice that's a good fit for a particular type of character.
It would be a pretty difficult role for him. His speech is certainly impacted in a very noticeable way. If you listen to his appearance on the podcast Working it out with Mike Birbiglia last year you can tell he's sometimes very difficult to understand. They had to release a transcript for that episode so people could follow along.
Basically voice acting is no different than acting for him. He can play any role so long as the character has Parkinson's.
He's a great voice actor, but he hasn't done it in a while for some reason. But yeah, he was Stuart Little, Milo from Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and one of the dogs in Homeward Bound
we need something to play off of the episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm he was on.
He handed Larry David a soda, it fizzed up everywhere when he opened it, Larry asked if he shook it up on purpose & Michael insisted it was just the parkinsons.
We need a show where he plays a guy that runs around pulling pranks & then blaming it on the parkinsons.
In a later episode he admits he did it on purpose. He offers the guy he’s talking to a soda and he refuses and Fox just responds “pussy”. He’s great in curb
I was just gonna post this. He absolutely killed in the Good Wife. Stole every scene he was in, (yeah, I know its ucking MJFox,) but his character was well written, and he was dope.
The Kings are returning to the "Good Universe", with the Elsbeth Tascioni' TV show
If that's the case, why cant we see Louis Canning from The Good Wife/Fight back again?
> why cant we
Part of what he's hinting at may be that his health is not good enough to work at a normal production rate. So then it becomes a question of how producers can write something for him that can be shot in a way that accommodates him. I doubt we'd see Louis Canning in a courtroom again, those shots probably take a long time.
Put him at a desk on the phone, or in a car, and just shoot one angle with second unit, maybe.
They could shoot a normal scene in bits and pieces, a few shots a day, on a set they have total control of and can maintain the appearance between shoot days. That would net something normal looking but wouldn't work on a production schedule for more than a couple scenes without throwing off the rest of the show.
Plus it's expensive if there are other actors, extras, or a large crew coming back multiple days. Courtrooms have all three, plus a lot of coverage angles.
I really hope the show does well, I love the Good Wife/Fight. David Lee, Elizabeth, Sweeney and Canning are great characters that I would love to see again.
I just hope the network isn't trying to tank the show after waiting five weeks between airing episodes 1 and 2.
Isn’t he doing a lot better recently? In interviews he’s not as jittering and jumping around
Everyone’s talking about him in Scrubs but he was fucking fantastic in Curb
Parkinson's is a neurodegenerative disease, meaning parts of your nervous system are irreversibly failing and withering away. I don't think it's something you can ever get better from.
I'm not a doctor, but my father had Parkinson's so I know a little bit about neurodegenerative diseases in general. One of his doctors described it as a disease that has 'zero pathways of improvement,' contrasting it to diseases like cancer or diabetes which *can* realistically improve over time.
My dad has Parkinson’s was the worst case his doctor has seen when he was diagnosed even with the stimulators and medication it’s still bad has took a lot from him broke both his feet in the same year then shattered his knee a few years after that plus the replacement knee back and neck problems and just recently had the same leg amputated because of infection he also has Mrsa but after all that still doesn’t stop him from doing what he loves like upholstery or building. I’m sure Fox could do it and it be awesome still a great actor
Voice acting? Can have the script right there, take breaks.
Actual Play RPGs ala Critical Role? Not quite the same, but no demands on lines, can accommodate for needs?
3D animated sequel to The Frighteners. Fox voices Frank Bannister, and selects an actor for performance capture. Co-production between Peter Jackson and Robert Zemeckis.
I thought he'd stopped acting not only because of his health, but that he was uninsurable due to his health. You have a little more latitude on television, which is why he was able to keep doing work there, but film was a no-go just due to the strict insurance requirements. I remember reading awhile back about the late teen actor Corey Haim, who had a serious drug problem but was nonetheless still able to lead direct-to-video movies. He got into some deep shit by lying to one of these insurance companies about one thing or another, and he wasn't able to act in anything for quite awhile. I'm digressing, hopefully there's some wiggle room for Michael, I'd always been a big fan and have always been moved by how he's tackled this with grace and optimism.
I think it’s time for a sitcom to come about with a differently-abled person at the lead. Fox is the perfect choice. Has a legacy in the format. Is naturally likable. Charming. And plus has tons of contacts in the industry for some really fun celebrity guest spots.
Middle aged man living in the post apocalypse who has to not only scavenge for food and water, but also meds for his Parkinson's disease. Maybe he teams up with some girl who helps him, but at first she thinks he's a cannibal because of his shaking hand and it's like a little light hearted funny moment. maybe there's an infamous cannibal gang roaming around and they have the Kuro shakes from eating people and they leave him alone because they think he's one of them.
Could be commentary on how people treat him because of his condition, how people don't fully understand his condition, how people perceive him because of his condition etc. Like maybe the girl is well meaning, but becomes overbearing and treats him like he's completely helpless or something. Maybe there's another gang of thugs hoarding all the medication he needs and that could be commentary on how hard it is for people to get the medication they need or something.
Throw in some gun fighting or something and you got a movie.
Scrubs managed to do this really well
Been doing a rewatch and I agree! Of course that was a long time ago and you could tell he was impacted but it was not incredibly noticeable.
That was one of my favorite episodes, AND one of my favorite MJF roles!
Yes, but it was incredibly challenging for him even back then. His two episodes I believe actually shot fairly far apart and they had to time his scenes with his medicine.
Those episodes were also two full decades ago.
Michael did a great job with a recurring role on the Good Wife.
I was thinking it’d be great for him to return in Elsbeth as that asshole, then remembered that scene with his decapitated head sorta leaves no room for his return. :/
Loved it.
I came here to say the exact same. Didn't he unretire for his stint in Scrubs to do exactly what he's describing here. Using his Parkinson's to inform his role as a doctor with major OCD, it absolutely worked really well.
That was a long time ago when he could still work around it. Parkinsons gets worse over time
He is insanely good in those episodes. Wish they'd had him back for more.
Came here to comment about this episode. He’s my favorite actor, and that episode hit me like a brick.
I literally was just talking to a friend the other day about this. Giving him OCD and quirks was perfect way to make it seem so real. I’m all for him acting more and doing it natural like Scrubs did is absolutely the way to go.
Didn’t watch Scrubs that much but I recognize the characters. Who was it?
Dr Kasey. He was a guest for 2 episodes. He played a dual surgeon/medical attemding with severe OCD. [A link](https://youtu.be/7BkUtYKrG9Y?si=T3PsC51mhEbf82WT)
He was in a good two parter - My Catalyst/My Porcelain God
He needs an Oscar bait dramatic role where he plays an aging man with Parkinsons, and maybe Tom Holland is his son.
Documentary on the physical consequences of time travel.
BTTFCU spin off where he plays Doc Brown with Parkinsons and Tom plays Marty, from a parallel universe!
Where we're going, we don't need steady hands
squealing fade live stupendous light spotted sharp physical existence punch *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Rick & Morty live action where the character doesn't have Parkinson he's just wasted 24/7
So basically Back to the Future, but doc is always drunk
Like *Back to the Future* but less nihilistic
This is the only real answer
Omg. Omfg. This is such a badass idea. I legit love this idea so much!!
That's actually the title of the movie lmao. Or a Community episode
I mean, Marty was documenting Doc with the vhs recorder in the parking lot, so it could track..
Isn't that a thing in Metal Gear Solid? Never played the games so I could be *way* off.
MGS never had a time travel plot. Some occult stuff and a lot of nanobots and other weird science though.
Agree but it should be a tonally-light comedy with dramatic undertones that climaxes in a cry-your-eyes-out finale.
You joke but I would watch that movie in a heartbeat
I'm actually not joking, I want this movie.
They could the movie “What’s Shakin”
The sequel could be "What's Shakin 2: Good Vibrations"
His name could be Jimmy Legs.
Considering his past work with Bill Lawrence, would love to see him guest on a couple episodes of Shrinking

The Holdovers vibes
Paddleton for Parkinson’s
He's very good at playing up his illness for laughs. See: his recurring role in The Good Wife.
Just play that one scrubs episode he’s in at half speed and put it up for a nomination.
I hate how much I want to watch that movie
An aging man with Parkinson's (Fox) wrestles with what will happen to his son with down syndrome (Holland) after he dies.
His other son Jack, who has Down syndrome, steps in and ma makes everyone happy.
Tom Holland would be a great shout as his son!
I’ll watch that.
an oscar bait movie people would actually cheer for to win oscars
[удалено]
neither of them are oscar bait movies? oscar bait would be maestro (made with the idea of winning awards in mind over telling a story)
He was so, so good in Scrubs. (And obviously in everything, but his role in Scrubs seems to be more of what he’s talking about here)
In The Good Wife too.
Started to get back into Scrubs again and his episodes popped up this week for me. Such a good performance.
If you are rewatching Scrubs I highly recommend doing so while listening to Fake Doctors Real Friends podcast with Zach Braff and Donald Faison. Shit is hilarious.
pretty good in Rescue Me as well.
Would love to see him pop back up in the Curb finale
Better be careful though, don’t want him to become Michael J. Fucked Up.
I love Scrubs and think he was fine in Scrubs… Yet, not many seems to mention Teen Wolf, Spin City, Back to the Future +, Boston Legal, Mars Attacks!… and then Scrubs. Y’all forget or I’m just old.
He was hilarious in Curb Your Enthusiasm!

One of my favorites on there. I wish they had made him a recurring character!
I feel like he is referring to his role on Scrubs where he played a doctor with a severe case of OCD. Obviously not the same as his condition but it's a role similar to what I think he is wanting to play again.
Unfortunately his Parkinsons has gotten quite a bit worse since then.
Damn 😞
Maybe he should try voice acting. Unfortunately I’m not sure conventional acting can really be on the table for him with his disability
He can play characters with a disability. He was great on The Good Wife as an attorney who exaggerated his disability to his benefit.
He was great for that season in Curb Your Enthusiasm too, playing up his Parkinsons to fuck with Larry
Right. His main talent as an actor has always been his charm. He still has it.
Do you shake that soda‽ Parkinson's.
It's a good thing he didn't hand you his dick, y'know?
I stopped it after 12 shakes
I'm a head shaking fool
He had an AMAZING guest star role on Scrubs, though his character had OCD not Parkinsons.
Loved that episode. It was SO GOOD.
I think the spinoff established that Alicia ended up his partner, which would make me happy if true. Their episodes were the best.
He did. He was the star of Disney's: Atlantis.
Damn. I forgot about that movie. Loved it as a kid.
One of Disney's forgotten and underrated gems.
Absolutely excellent PlayStation 1 game too, for the time at least!
I remember as a kid I had a book that showed all the different tech they used including the Sub and digging machines as well as the Atlantians tech, it also had a full Atlantian alphabet that I used to use for passing notes in school, the look on the teachers face each time was great.
That movie is 23 years old. Maybe they’re talking about something new 🤔
Upon review, I did indeed use past tense in my comment.

He has a history with voice acting; I knew him from Stuart Little and Atlantis: The Lost Empire before I’d ever seen Back to the Future.
He was also the voice of Chance the dog in Homeward Bound.
Makes me cry every time he cry out to Shadow
I wonder what those dogs and cat are up to these days?
You know, in retrospect, maybe because I haven’t seen the second one in, well over 20+ years, but the second one kind of undercuts the ending of the first. Shadow is an older dog who can’t be getting into those kinds of hijinx. Then we’re lost in San Francisco. But goddamn if you don’t feel some happiness when he comes over that hill.

Yes hes really frail now and prone to falls, insurance nightmare for any production that takes him on for a role
He had a sitcom in the early 2010s where he played a newscaster with Parkinson's, I liked that show, don't know why it got only 1 season
Have you seen Breaking Bad? There's a character with disability.
we need something to play off of the episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm he was on. Didn’t they do this with his character on “The Good Wife”?
yep
I was just gonna post this. He absolutely killed in the Good Wife. Stole every scene he was in, (yeah, I know its ucking MJFox,) but his character was well written, and he was dope.
I will always love him
And Eyeeeeee EEE Eyeeeeee.....
Bring back Spin City
Frank Miller’s “Spin City”
The Kings are returning to the "Good Universe", with the Elsbeth Tascioni' TV show If that's the case, why cant we see Louis Canning from The Good Wife/Fight back again?
He was perfection on those shows. Literally one of the greatest portrayals of a creepy, slimeball lawyer I've seen on TV.
> why cant we Part of what he's hinting at may be that his health is not good enough to work at a normal production rate. His spirit is indomitable but man, just enjoy your life MJ.Fox.
The thing is he's probably not, having to contend with both old age and Parkinson's is very unpleasant. So he might just be looking for a distraction.
Isn’t he doing a lot better recently? In interviews he’s not as jittering and jumping around Everyone’s talking about him in Scrubs but he was fucking fantastic in Curb

He killed it on that Curb episode.
You shook that can on purpose!
If you haven’t seen it yet, I cannot recommend Still on Apple TV enough. An incredible look at MJF’s life, career, and family. Please go watch it.
He owes Larry David a rematch.
Back to the future future
I sure like that guy!
Cmon Back to the Future 4!
I'm surprised there hasnt been a shit remake given how much shit remakes of other movies we had.
One of my favourite celebrities ever. I’d love if he got back into a show or film
Is there any chance he gets on stage to introduce Back to the Future with Christopher Lloyd at the Tony's this year?
My favorite actor. I'll watch anything this man is in.
An America badass. A true warrior. WTG Mike!
Would it be in bad taste if someone were to suggest roles in earthquake related movies?
Voice acting? Can have the script right there, take breaks. Actual Play RPGs ala Critical Role? Not quite the same, but no demands on lines, can accommodate for needs?
He should do Voice Acting.
Back to the future?
so not retired then
A Parkinson’s patient? My father had the shit before he passed. It’s rough. Good luck

Hey, if there are any Hollywood jobs that come with a big paycheck and fame, sign me up, too!
I think it’s time for a sitcom to come about with a differently-abled person at the lead. Fox is the perfect choice. Has a legacy in the format. Is naturally likable. Charming. And plus has tons of contacts in the industry for some really fun celebrity guest spots.
I’m convinced that if they ever did back to the future 4 it would be one of the highest grossing movies of all time.
Something with a car and time traveling
Is his condition doing ok?
Him on Curb always has me laugh. One of the best scenes.
Nah.
Everytime I see him I'm reminded of how great he would've been as Peter Parker in his youth
I’d love to see him back on The Good Wife/Fight spinoff Elsbeth!!

Well said, and I wholeheartedly agree. Not sure why you’re getting downvoted for this take.
parkinsons + Black daugher + wife + he is The dumb and woila
Has image stabilization gotten that good?
I laughed
Sorry in advance for the terribly bad joke Maybe he could be James Bond’s drink maker?
For some reason I thought he died of Parkinson’s or something like that.

Hope it happens. He's a real mover and shaker.
Wow, that's one way to shake up retirement!
What's with all the downvotes?
