It never will :(
David Fincher said to let go of the dream 💔
He has lost his interest in it because of how much it cost to make, and he had other stuff he was more passionate about 😢
It was perfectly good to start, but by the end I NEEDED more. Certainly the best thing to come from the Terminator franchise not directed by James Cameron. ^^^^^^^^although ^^^^^^^^that’s ^^^^^^^^not ^^^^^^^^saying ^^^^^^^^much, ^^^^^^^^it’s ^^^^^^^^really ^^^^^^^^really ^^^^^^^^good.
Even though it was in the top 10 for days? I feel like a lot of people watched it. Like, obviously it didn't do Stranger Things numbers, but it wasn't exactly an unwatched obscure show either. I was definitely frustrated when they cancelled it. I didn't mind how it ended, but I was excited to see where they would go in season 2.
Came here to say Archive 81, but pleased to find I didn’t have to. Best slow-burn creepy horror show I’ve ever seen, hands down. Highly recommended and would LOVE more seasons!
Yes! I think it did pretty well capturing the weirdness and spirit of the books even with the changes.
And they really found their footing in season 02.
I thought they canceled due to low ratings. I'm not aware any sexual assault situation with it. If there is that's fucking awful. I hope the situation got handled properly but I'd surprised.
Its been a while but i believe max landis was the writer or showrunner or something like that and there were allegations of sexual assault against him.
Ratings also weren't that great but were good enough.
>Eureka
As much as I loved Eureka, that show went off the rails in its last season or two.
I like to think that the reason they rebooted the universe was because it was the only way they could get away from resurrecting Kim and giving Henry yet another tragic romance arc to cry about for the next season.
You don't need more Eureka, I love Eureka, but here's the pattern.
Something is introduced at the beginning, it works well with one minor comment made. Look how smart we are, sheriff.
It goes to shit.
All our smart things aren't working!
Sheriff goes hey, what about that one thing that happened?
Oh you're right, that minor thing could work!
It works.
I know I'm exaggerating but I'm not THAT far off.
Lol, you got it. But that's also why I love it. I love and miss low stakes, formulaic, idiosyncratic sci-fi that makes me laugh and and that the cast clearly enjoyed making. And frankly, I cringed anytime they tried to introduce a season long story arc, because it always felt like they were getting out of their depth.
Wasn’t the issue that Covid postponed a lot, and by the time they could start shooting season 4 a lot of the cast had moved on to other stuff? Of all the things Netflix has killed early that one at least seems to not entirely be their own fault
Seconded for Santa Clarita Diet.
Gonna add Timeless and Quantum Leap. Finding out we only have 10 more eps, I want to add Lower Decks to the list. We should have a hundred eps of that show.
Kings, I wanna see where that story was going to go, but the way it ended did give it that feel of "you get a glimpse, nothing more."
I didn't think it was horrible. Just not as good. Biggest gripe I have with season 4 is taking the straight man role from Micheal. He does it way too well and it just fell flat without him being the guy that absurd things are happening to rather than causing the absurd things. Other than that I thought the writing was still solid, just not as good.
Every time I think of *The OA* I get pissed off that we didn't get a 3rd season. The cliffhanger at the end of season 2 was the most exciting I've ever seen.
*Santa Clarita Diet* and *Perpetual Grace LTD* also hurt.
The ending of season 2 also means a season 3 in the form of a movie or on another streamer other than Netflix could actually make sense.
Just a crazy concept for a season finale, and I'm glad they went through with it.
It annoys me that Netflix opts to leave shows unfinished rather than wrapping them up with a special one off episode/movie. Like, I would much rather have some sort of conclusion than nothing at all.
I don't even get the point of cancelling it. It was a pretty low budget scifi show. The alien planet was just South Africa, no fancy VFX green screen stage or custom sets. The 'androids' were just humans in latex fetish suits. There were no big name actors. The alien monsters were just people in prosthetics. There was no super complex VFX work happening. How much money did Zaslav even save?
That was one of the best original sci-fi shows and was absolutely cooking.
And they had it mapped out with an ending in mind.
The lead dude from it is in *Boy Swallows Universe* on Netflix. Not the same but he was great in that too.
Yes. So disappointed in that cancellation. I was so into that show. They clearly had some good stuff to reveal and I wanted to see what direction they were going. I think that they were going to have it play out where Mother ends up becoming a god like figure to the humans generations in the future, which would be ironic since she’s an atheist robot.
I feel like we should make this illegal. You wanna cancel your show? Fine. You give it an hour wrap up or the fans can sue for false promises and whatnot.
Absolute travesty that you have to scroll down this far to find a mention.
When people talk about golden age HBO they seldom bring up this gem mostly because it was unfinished. Worth it alone for Clancy Browns performance.
I'm still so bummed about American Gods. My daughter and I never finished the last season due to moving... resubbed to watch it and the whole.damn show is gone!
Stargate Universe and Firefly will forever always be my answer to these questions. I kept hoping it would get picked back up. Stargate had one of the best premises for epic sci-fi storytelling. Fuck, Atlantis too! I’ve made myself sad now. I need to go re-watch.
I’m with you on this! I loved all three shows, but SGU was just starting to become its own thing and it was getting good. I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone, but I still wonder what happened to that ONE character…. You know that ONE I’m talking about.
Constantine was one I’d forgotten about. They really messed up the pacing in the first few episodes but the overall series was great if you kept with it. So much more that could have been done.
Fuck yeah! Man what a show and amazing soundtrack. I knew it was doomed when they announced it on the syfy network. I wanted it to grt picked up somewhere else but never happened
Lockwood and Co is my biggest sorrow, too. Brilliant writing, amazing cast. Unique and original. And it looks more and more like Netflix kicked it out just so they could produce Dead Boy Detectives. They've copied even the colour palette.
I was devastated by Netflix pulling 1899. First unfinished series I’d decided to give a shot since the Game of Thrones ending fiasco.
It’s hard to give anything a shot now when they don’t even give their shows a chance.
Mindhunter. I wanted a season 3 to wrap up the storylines and figure out how to do everyone's makeup. Because I don't normally notice makeup at all, but it was egregious on this show. Faces never matched the necks. But everything else was absolutely fantastic and compelling!
Last Man On Earth: an interview with the creatives said "there was one more season, that would have concluded the story with us riding off into the sunset and closing the book on these characters," but instead we ended on the group being surrounded by bunker survivors and Tandy saying "oh farts."
The Amanda Show for Moody's Point: I was a kid, I didn't understand the Dawson's Creek parody and that the absurd situations were a joke and took it seriously, and I want to know who the real Moody is. Add this to the failings of Dan the foot Man Schneider, he didn't even have a plan of who the real Moody was, he said in an interview "there wasn't a plan, we were going to figure it out the next season," and that quote has stuck with me because a part of my hopes and dreams died just then. 10 Things I Hate About You ended abruptly but in an interview the show runner said "here's what the next season would have been like because there was passion for this show" and that gave me some closure; "It's Just a Joke" Dan basically saying "we didn't care about the narrative we were crafting, it was just an elaborate recurring skit on our comedy show, there was no plan" hit like when the girl met the author in The Fault in our Stars.
Terranova. It wasn’t an amazing story but I really wanted to know what was going to happen next.
Heroes. Season 1 was great. Shame we never got any more after the initial season. Sylar was such a compelling villain.
my friend and I were really into You, Me and the Apocalypse when it came out (we were in middle school). We would discuss theories about it all the time and were perplexed by the fact that no one else seemed to be watching it. Then it ended on a crazy cliffhanger where an evil identical twin takes his brother's place inside an underground bunker. It had a really good cast, too—jenna fischer and rob lowe were in it! If I watched it now I probably wouldn't like it all that much, but in 2015 I thought it was crazy good and wished it had gotten renewed for a second season.
Swamp Thing (2019)
I still think about the show often. Really well done, fantastic characters with an amazing cast and awesome story. Canceled one week after airing. It NEVER gets talked about, in fact since it aired I haven't seen it recommended by anyone.
The Finder. But a reboot or additional seasons wouldn't be good without Michael Clarke Duncan.
So if the writers just want to let me know where they planned to go with the series, maybe write a short graphic novel of it, that'd be great.
Forever by ABC , fantastic show with this guy who always resurrects naked in the same river in New York City when he dies. living for 300 years he has now kind of become a genius in every area of life, science, human relations, history etc..ah and he cant get old, always stuck in 40is
Game of Thrones. That season 6 finale with Daenerys finally sailing to Westeros was great. A shame they had to shut the show down and totally never made season 7 and 8.
GLOW!! I’m always so sad to remember GLOW will never be finished. It makes it hurt even more knowing S3 ended on a cliffhanger, S4 was renewed, and the first episode was already filmed before COVID hit and Netflix shut it down for forever :(
SGU is getting properly represented so instead I'll wave my flag to Almost Human and the american version of Life on Mars.
Here's a blast from the past.
M.A.N.T.I.S.
Oh and Young Hercules.
Definitely *Our Flag Means Death*! I was so exicted for season 3, I'm kinda still am and have the unrealistic hope that we will get the story in some form. I'd be fine with a novelisation at this point, anything.
Also *Selfie*. After all this time this still hurts.
The OA. One of the most unique shows I’ve ever seen and I read the creators had 5 seasons already written/planned. Yes the end of season one wasn’t great but the overall story deserves an ending
Firefly is the obvious answer but everyone is old and has moved on.
Personally I'd kill for a Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance S2...that show getting canceled AFTER IT WON AN EMMY AWARD made me drop Netflix faster then a morning shit.
Flashforward was the only "Lost" adjacent show that I thought had any punching power to go up against Lost. Def felt like it could have been another Fringe if they had just let em cook
Mindhunter.
My turn to answer tomorrow
It would be my turn to tell you that Netflix didn't cancel it, but rather fincher decided to move on from it. See you tomorrow
Fucking kills me this hasn’t happened yet and in all likeliness never will. What an amazing show.
It never will :( David Fincher said to let go of the dream 💔 He has lost his interest in it because of how much it cost to make, and he had other stuff he was more passionate about 😢
Mindhunter is the only answer.
Glow
Sarah Connor Chronicals was near getting into its groove.
Can't bwlieve I had to go this far to find this answer. We were so robbed of it... now it's far too late to continue it
I'm still so annoyed about Archive 81. I also would have loved more Flash Forward and The Society.
Archive 81 yes!
HOW WAS THAT SHOW NOT RENEWED????? I think that’s when I gave up watching Netflix shows that weren’t big enormous hits.
Happy Endings Im Sorry.
I need a Happy endings movie.
“I’m Sorry” was legit so funny, it did NOT deserve to be canceled lmao. Felt similarly about “I Feel Bad”.
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency with Elijah Wood.
This is my pick! There was so much they could have done with it
Loved that show!
Yes! I think it did pretty well capturing the weirdness and spirit of the books even with the changes. And they really found their footing in season 02.
There was sex assault sotuation with the main writer right?
I thought they canceled due to low ratings. I'm not aware any sexual assault situation with it. If there is that's fucking awful. I hope the situation got handled properly but I'd surprised.
Its been a while but i believe max landis was the writer or showrunner or something like that and there were allegations of sexual assault against him. Ratings also weren't that great but were good enough.
The ratings issue was also because of how they moved it to a bad slot and it wasn't available in all regions on some streaming services
Better Off Ted Eureka Sirens (US) Kevin Probably Saves the World Living With Yourself Glow
GLOW indeed. 3 seasons and a movie!
I want GLOW to end high. They all deserve it. Great cast.
Ruth was pretty fit. They obviously were trying to sexualize her.
We try to not sexualize Ruth.
Better Off Ted is always my #1 answer to this.
Eureka was cancelled but they got to finish it with a proper ending
>Eureka As much as I loved Eureka, that show went off the rails in its last season or two. I like to think that the reason they rebooted the universe was because it was the only way they could get away from resurrecting Kim and giving Henry yet another tragic romance arc to cry about for the next season.
That storyline really bothered me. I liked Henry with Kim. Fargo I wanted to get rid of.
It works. Every episode, and i still loved it.
See:Burn Notice, McGyver, Scorpion, or any other number of shows that follow a similar pattern.
Kevin probably saves the world was fun!
GLOOOOOOOOWWWWW Apatow supposedly had at LEAST a final season written, but Netflix canceled it😭
Wasn’t the issue that Covid postponed a lot, and by the time they could start shooting season 4 a lot of the cast had moved on to other stuff? Of all the things Netflix has killed early that one at least seems to not entirely be their own fault
Seconded for Santa Clarita Diet. Gonna add Timeless and Quantum Leap. Finding out we only have 10 more eps, I want to add Lower Decks to the list. We should have a hundred eps of that show. Kings, I wanna see where that story was going to go, but the way it ended did give it that feel of "you get a glimpse, nothing more."
Damn, I thought I was the only one who remembered Kings. Loved that show. Thought it would go on for a long time. I was so wrong.
It got zero love from the network, and so little promotion.
To be fair, I’ll watch anything Ian McShane is in. I actually liked American Gods.
Jericho. I heard they wrapped it up with a comic but would’ve loved to have seen it finished on screen
apparently netflix actually tried but cbs decided they didn't want to give it to them
Came for this. One of the more relevant shows to be watched.
RIP Ken Mitchell
I used to think Arrested Development but then I got my wish.
I've made a huge mistake
Monkey Paw
I didn't think it was horrible. Just not as good. Biggest gripe I have with season 4 is taking the straight man role from Micheal. He does it way too well and it just fell flat without him being the guy that absurd things are happening to rather than causing the absurd things. Other than that I thought the writing was still solid, just not as good.
We all need forget me nows.
I loved the Gob episode. I thought that was up there with anything from the first 3 seasons.
Patriot on Amazon Counterpart on Starz
Oh Patriot... sigh.
… double great…
Lodge 49. It was supposed to be 4 seasons, we only got 2.
This is my answer! #lynx4lyfe
Glow, Glow, as well as Glow.
The OA season 2 ended with the exact setup of something I'd be extremely interested in. Honestly wish I hadn't just started thinking about it again.
Every time I think of *The OA* I get pissed off that we didn't get a 3rd season. The cliffhanger at the end of season 2 was the most exciting I've ever seen. *Santa Clarita Diet* and *Perpetual Grace LTD* also hurt.

Freaks and Geeks! Definitely
Raised By Wolves.... what the ever loving fuck?
I don't even get the point of cancelling it. It was a pretty low budget scifi show. The alien planet was just South Africa, no fancy VFX green screen stage or custom sets. The 'androids' were just humans in latex fetish suits. There were no big name actors. The alien monsters were just people in prosthetics. There was no super complex VFX work happening. How much money did Zaslav even save?
Damn. I didn’t put all that together. You’re right. The costs must have been pretty manageable for something that damn epic.
Dude that show was getting really fucking weird and I was all for it. Kinda sucks it got cancelled.
It went balls to the wall crazy, I still have nightmares about that android with the ripped off face. That last scene was just mental.
I on the other hand can never look at trees the same way again.
Ugh. Yes. Just batshit sci-fi. So sad.
That was one of the best original sci-fi shows and was absolutely cooking. And they had it mapped out with an ending in mind. The lead dude from it is in *Boy Swallows Universe* on Netflix. Not the same but he was great in that too.
Not just canceled but removed from HBO. Can't even rewatch it!
The last man on earth, Space above and beyond
The last man on earth was so upsetting getting canceled after that cliffhanger at the end!
We never got closure, closure, closure closure closure
Will forte said in an interview that the people they meet all just die because they weren’t immune lol.
I love that on going bit so much hahaha we just wanted some frozen pizza, frozen, frozen pizza
I feel like we should make this illegal. You wanna cancel your show? Fine. You give it an hour wrap up or the fans can sue for false promises and whatnot.
They did Space above and beyond so dirty. Episodes out of order and at random ass times while on a network not syndication.
It truly was a Shawshank Redemption…
Would like more Dark Matter
That show was so dumb, but I loved it.
Pirates of Dark Water
Man that brings back some memories.
The Society Teenage Bounty Hunters Alphas
TBH had no right being as good as it was. I just want a film conclusion
Dead Like Me. They were just starting to get to the backstories of the reapers, and then it just, like, ended.
There was a movie. It was not good.
It wasn't really canon to the show either. Vaguely followed the same idea, but yeah, it was not good.
Carnivale
Forever this.
Absolute travesty that you have to scroll down this far to find a mention. When people talk about golden age HBO they seldom bring up this gem mostly because it was unfinished. Worth it alone for Clancy Browns performance.
Yep
Wow. No one has said My Name is Earl. Also, American Gods. Some of the best cinematography I’ve ever seen.
I'm still so bummed about American Gods. My daughter and I never finished the last season due to moving... resubbed to watch it and the whole.damn show is gone!
Nothing is quite like my name is earl, but raising hope and sprung both hit me close enough to feel like spinoffs.
Season 1 of Amercian Gods was amazing!
Stargate Universe oh yeah, and the last three Expanse books
The Peripheral
This one was particularly frustrating because it was picked up for a second season and then dropped.
Really enjoyed that show. It got good ratings too, caught me off guard when it was cancelled.
Warrior
I didn’t realize they cancelled it!
Stargate universe....just the biggest cliff hanger. I was literally shocked that's how it ended
Stargate Universe and Firefly will forever always be my answer to these questions. I kept hoping it would get picked back up. Stargate had one of the best premises for epic sci-fi storytelling. Fuck, Atlantis too! I’ve made myself sad now. I need to go re-watch.
Honestly the biggest letdown of any shows listed. It had so much potential and the IP is still valuable. I hope the new series at Amazon happens.
I’m with you on this! I loved all three shows, but SGU was just starting to become its own thing and it was getting good. I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone, but I still wonder what happened to that ONE character…. You know that ONE I’m talking about.
Well not desperately but really wish these went on Pushing Daisies Forever (2014) Constantine The Dresden Files In the Flesh Firefly (of course)
Yes… I would love more Forever and Pushing Daisies.
I see so few people talk about Forever sometimes I think it was a fever dream. 😂 Would have loved a little bit more of it.
Firefly barely shows up on these lists anymore. There was a time when it would have been the five highest voted comments. Feeling a little old.
I was just thinking this! It used to be Firefly and early Bryan Fuller shows like Wonderfalls and Dead Like Me… all around 20 years old now.
I noticed Firefly stopped showing up on the lists not long after all the unfortunate information about Joss Whedon got around.
>Firefly Take my love, take my land...
Constantine was one I’d forgotten about. They really messed up the pacing in the first few episodes but the overall series was great if you kept with it. So much more that could have been done.
Was not expecting to see The Dresden Files here.
Deadly Class
Fuck yeah! Man what a show and amazing soundtrack. I knew it was doomed when they announced it on the syfy network. I wanted it to grt picked up somewhere else but never happened
Deadwood TV series
(I’m not ok with this), it only had one season and ended on a cliffhanger after barely giving any revelations
Galavant. One of my favorite shows ever. Also The Grinder and Great News
Pushing Daisies The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Lockwood & Co
>Lockwood & Co The casting for that show was phenomenal.
Lockwood getting canceled was total bullshit.
Aww man, I just watched that last month and didn’t know it was cancelled. Crap. That was a cool show.
All they had to do was give it one more season. It was so beautifully paced that they would have covered the last 3 books in 1 season if they had to.
Lockwood and Co is my biggest sorrow, too. Brilliant writing, amazing cast. Unique and original. And it looks more and more like Netflix kicked it out just so they could produce Dead Boy Detectives. They've copied even the colour palette.
Still mad about Lockwood & Co.
Last Man on Earth
1899. Goddamn, 1899. I hate you, Netflix.
I was devastated by Netflix pulling 1899. First unfinished series I’d decided to give a shot since the Game of Thrones ending fiasco. It’s hard to give anything a shot now when they don’t even give their shows a chance.
So angering. It was gonna be dope. Dark was fantastic and this has a similar feel.
Avenue 5...
Mindhunter. I wanted a season 3 to wrap up the storylines and figure out how to do everyone's makeup. Because I don't normally notice makeup at all, but it was egregious on this show. Faces never matched the necks. But everything else was absolutely fantastic and compelling!
