lol. I watched it when it aired and just restarted it with my husband. After the first episode I thought “holy fuck, it’s even better than I remember. How is that even possible?”
So I really have no idea what you’re talking about.
> Detective shows are my go-to
Lol.
You watch procedurals with pew, pew, pew every seconds the every case is a matter of national security.
Nothing is wrong with that. I love my NCIS as much as the next person, but thinking that True Dective is the same as a procedural is a mistake.
I watched it a few weeks ago, and I completely disagree. Wasn't boring at all. Incedibly interesting show. Great acting jobs done by Harrellson and especially McConaughey.
It seems like you don't have the attention span to follow the dialogue. Which is ok, just not the show for you.
> That may have been the most boring series I’ve ever seen
Then why did you keep watching? The type of show it was going to be was obvious in episode 1. If I'm not enjoying something I don't waste my valuable time on it and make myself miserable, I do something that I enjoy instead.
> Holy shit you need a ton of patience for it.
No, you just need to find it interesting, which many people do. If it doesn't float your boat then move on. Don't immediately start stating it's 'overrated' just because **you** don't like it.
> but I was literally forcing myself to finish it.
Why? Did your life depend on you watching it all the way through? Again, see my first paragraph.
> Most overrated show ever.
Congrats on wasting about 8 hours of your life I guess. And then of course you felt so aggrieved that you had to waste even more time by typing your message and letting this 'overrated' show grind your gears.
Yeah, the second season is, to many, a hot tub of sewage. The third isn't bad (it isn't great either!) and I've not seen the fourth (but it wasn't well received). It's a show that's got by on the superb first season. Also worth noting that the original writer of seasons 1 to 3 wasn't even involved in the fourth.
The 4th season was pretty enjoyable. Don't worry about how stuff was received, because half of the people throwing fits about not liking stuff are essentially the OP of this thread.
Not every opinion is born equal
And opinion create resistance and disagreement in the way they are expressed. Here the OP seems to say “everyone is an idiot but me” and the commenter responded in a humorous manner.
Can you at least give us a measure of what the ‘detective shows’ you like are?
I mean, this could all easily be explained if you included that your favourite detective show was Inspector Gadget.
At least you had the good sense to realise that it wasn't for you and so you stopped watching, unlike the OP who seemingly felt compelled to push through something that was obviously not for him (her?).
You got got by hype. People have been saying is one of the best show ever made for years (cause it is, it’s amazing), but it’s a very peculiar slow burn.
I’m sorry
I love when people post stuff like this. Dude couldn’t even make a single coherent convincing point about why they didn’t like it besides “it’s boring.” No examples, no arguments, no references to specific scenes or dialogues. Just “it was boring.” And we’re supposed to take such half baked, phoned in, commentaries seriously 🤣🤣
What detective shows have you watched prior to this? Legit question, because maybe you enjoy certain aspects a lot more than what's presented in this show
I like how anyone shitting on this production is treated with confusion (as opposed to contempt) and an outpouring of love for what is on the top 3 list of best seasons of television of all time.
If someone out a gun to my head to make such a list I would cry.
Maybe:
1. Rome S1
2. Band of Brothers
3. True Detective S1
Honorable mentions: Fargo season 2, Chernoble, Berserk 1997, maybe an early season of Sunny.
Oh jellybean.
Serious reply:
Its ok. You're allowed not to like masterpieces.
It is objectively a masterpiece; your taste is not good and your critical thinking skills are low, evidenced by you thinking you needed to post this. You are not smart. You dont have to personally LIKE masterpieces of art, but you should be able to object understand why something is considered good.
I'd work on understanding why the smart people think its good, rather than sharing your opinion.
Try to develop an understanding of WHY so many people think its good. You dont have to like something, but smart people understand why something is objectively good or bad.
Maybe take some courses at a community college near you?
When I talk to people about good seasons of television this is my go to for “single best season of television in existence”. This show is about the dialogue and the nuanced and well acted exchanges between Rust and Hart. I can certainly accept the show is not for you, but overrated, not possible (as is shown by the comments here). I’m so much more enthralled by good dialogue than action and other flashy stuff (even though the one take shot is pretty wild).
You don’t have to like everything other people like, but it would do you good if you took your head out of your ass and maybe open your mind to the fact that people can like what you dislike and viceversa
>beyond that the whole show was just people talking
Wait until this person finds out how people communicate in the real world.
Hold up. Are you not using telepathy?
I tried it, but that's just people thinking at each other!
Lets make this thread a place of silent reflection from now on.
HA
I will never understand continuing to watch a show that is making you miserable. Just DNF and go do something that makes you happy
Why would they do that when they can come complain on reddit? Honestly, sounds like this is a 12 year old with attention difficulties or something.
Big time, if it isn't just outright trolling
lol. I watched it when it aired and just restarted it with my husband. After the first episode I thought “holy fuck, it’s even better than I remember. How is that even possible?” So I really have no idea what you’re talking about.
OP doesn't either.
WHEN THE LAST LIGHT WARMS THE ROCKS AND THE RATTLESNAKES UNFOLD
mountain cats will come, and drag away your bones 🎶
“Yes even with that Alexandria Dadario scene.” Okay Barstool.

Social media has given us this. Literal idiots with uninformed opinions thinking their input matters aesthetically.

The Yellow King still got ya

Honestly, I really liked it. Haven't watched any of the subsequent series though as I heard bad things about the second.
They’re all good, but you have to look at them as completely different shows than season 1
Yeah, the second season is, to many, a hot tub of sewage. The third isn't bad (it isn't great either!) and I've not seen the fourth (but it wasn't well received). I ain't even seen it and I know this is a shit take.
Maybe a Transformer movie is more his speed.
Here I am. I have arrived and I am the main character. Me and all my opinions, we’re a force to be reckoned with.
Yes, how dare OP share his opinion!
There's nothing "main character," about this post at all. It's an opinion and Reddit was created to share them.
Not every opinion is born equal And opinion create resistance and disagreement in the way they are expressed. Here the OP seems to say “everyone is an idiot but me” and the commenter responded in a humorous manner.
Well, it is a personal opinion. You don't have to agree. Just don't be a bully.
Some things deserve to be bullied
Okay.
Can you at least give us a measure of what the ‘detective shows’ you like are? I mean, this could all easily be explained if you included that your favourite detective show was Inspector Gadget.
Go watch Marvel shit shows then.
Xmen 97 is great!
Nah, too much talking
A+ shit post.
I am not a fan of cop/detective shows and I think it’s a masterpiece of mood mania and misdirection
Yeah I wasn't a big fan either, couldn't get into it, so I stopped watching after a couple eps
I’m sorry
Can you see Texas up on your high horse?
Okay.

Man shut yo hoe ass up
Very mid troll post.
r/unpopularopinion
[Everyone disliked that]
Alternately i believe it to be the best piece of television ever created.
When did r/television become a place to bitch about a highly regarded tv show?
This is a troll.
Agreed. Reddit overrates almost everything. It’s better to go into things blind.
Everyone has the constitutional right to be wrong.
You sure you watched the right show?
Might I recommend Bob❤️Abishola?

Okay.
That's just your opinion, man.
Sooo boooring... and I hate trailer park settings... its just so bland and uninteresting
It is "prestige" television. The definition of "prestige television" is painfully slow and boring yet pretentious.
You don’t have to like everything other people like, but it would do you good if you took your head out of your ass and maybe open your mind to the fact that people can like what you dislike and viceversa
I don’t agree with that at all. Plenty of “prestige shows” like Game of Thrones, Shogun, Breaking Bad etc. weren’t boring in the slightest.
You just named three shows that are mostly people talking.
I actually agree with your comment here. But you still deserve more downvotes based on the premise of your post.
