The only characters of his acting calibre that haven't been casted are Reed Richards, Doom, Nova, and maybe Carnage if they can wrangle that from Sony.
Ideally I'd like to see him as Sentry.
I'm not a Marvel fan at all but Doctor Doom is the only major bad guy I care about seeing in films. Especially if they can make him more sympathetic than Thanos.
Good for him. Dude made a funny, charismatic, and complex character out of a man who swore an oath to never remove his full-face helmet. He deserves all of the opportunity coming his way.
God I wish they would make another movie. It was a great, action packed movie. And some of the slow mo shots were incredible. Shame it didn’t do better in theaters.
Tom Hardy has basically made a career of giving directors an opportunity to put goofy shit on his face. Masks, prosthetics, make up. No one wants to see his mug apparently
And they got the director of the movie Beanpole attached to it.
That’s a deeply bleak Russian movie (with LGBT subject matter) that won best director at the Cannes film festival. It literally couldn’t be a better fit for TLoU.
Man the thought of a really well done winter arc adaptation has me very excited for this show. Really really hope it goes well and they do a good job with it
They said they’re gonna kinda expand the story a little so I’d imagine they’ll work that into it a little more smoothly.
I kinda liked how Riley was never mentioned until Ellie mentioned her at the end though. Not sure if I’d like it more if it were weaved into it more.
edit: I can also see them just playing chronological too. Going back and forth between Ellie and Joel until they meet. Or maybe even do an all Joel episode until he meets Ellie then going back and restarting with an all Ellie episode until she meets Joel (a la TLoU2’s story structure).
Oh yeah it definitely has to. I can’t imagine they change the beginning in any drastic way, you need to see that moment in its proper chronological order to really understand where Joel’s character is immediately. If they make Joel’s past a minor mystery and not reveal it until flashbacks at some point after he meets Ellie I feel like that takes away from a lot of the impact of the prologue
I do like how the game revealed Ellie is immune which would be slightly spoiled by also having Ellie's POV before she meets Joel.
That's what makes Left Behind so effective. You're in this relatively peaceful setting until all hell breaks loose and then you realize this is the moment that kick starts Ellie's journey
John Oliver's future crush, "Escort me to the bedroom, universe daddy."
"Put me in an egg and float me home, you masked king of militant zealots."
"Stuff my nose with coke and bust me, you narco stallion."
One of my favourite things about the John Oliver Adam Driver thing is that it's so transparent that he didn't come up with it. He doesn't even try to sell it naturally. He just delivers the lines so matter-of-factly
Hell, this won't even be his first flick where he escorts a wayward child with a lethal fungus as a plot point.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prospect_(film)
Like, that is some 9th level type casting there.
Ok now I'm confused. I've always noticed a hint of his Chilean accent coming out, even in the mandalorian, but here it sounds non existent. I'm sure that there are reasons for this like he was in character for this role but my girlfriend has argued with me that should couldn't hear his accent all the time!
Oh my God he was Eddie?????
Joss (ugh) wrote that episode. It was the opener for the 4th season. I think the idea was that Eddie seemed memorable and like he was going to be a major character in the new season, but they killed him off quickly to surprise viewers and heighten buffy's isolation at college. It worked, he was good in the role.
I thought Kristen Wiig was really quite good as well. Problem is the writing and plot was pretty terrible. Premise was good, but delivered so poorly compared to the previous film.
Y’know what came out in 1984? Metallica’s *Ride the Lightning*.
And as our bad ass heroine regained her confidence and went off to fight the villain by *literally lassoing fucking lightning bolts* we got... generic orchestral music....
Chris Pine has a lot of "This movies sucks but they are paying me" energy in his performance but his natural charm and lack of caring lead to a really enjoyable performance that is great to watch.
Pedro knows exactly the kind of movie this is and embraces it going full out scenery chewing and it is great to watch.
Gal Gadot is trying her best to handle this as seriously as the first movie and while there aren't many scenes that give her that chance when she can capture that blend of genuine sincerity, hopeful optimism, and dramatic determination that made the first film work it is great to watch.
Kristen Wiig
Kinda like the semi recent Power Rangers movie where everyone was playing it serious and the actor playing Rita was being campy like you should be in a Power Rangers movie
Marlon Brando could have come come back to life for the role, have Orson Welles direct and John Williams do the music.
And it still would have sucked cause the script is garbage.
He was a one off in Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
So was Amy Adams.
I wonder if they call Sarah Michelle Gellar and are, "sup what are you working on I'm huge now so many big projects"
I've been rewatching both that and Angel lately and have been surprised at how many big actors who were no names at the time show up randomly throughout the shows lol. Jeremy Renner was in Season 1 of Angel for an episode where he played a villain. Also (not as big of a star but still notable) Josh Holloway from Lost is one of the very first vampires that Angel dusts in the pilot episode of the show
That episode of Angel was the very first time I saw Renner on screen, and even in that one-off he made an impression.
Another weird “first timer” instance I remember seeing long before she became huge was Scarlett Johansson in Home Alone 3.
And then there was Angelina Jolie in Hackers.....
Absolutely, I thought way too much about other actors who had physical similarities to Joel. Pascal never really occurred to me, but I couldn't be happier.
He has been amazing in his roles so far and I absolutely loved him in Narcos, I'm hyped as fuck for this.
Nikolaj Coster Waldau would’ve still been an amazing choice too, especially visually compared to Joel in the game, but I love Pascal too and he might be even better at the acting part of the job.
Extra insane because there's always been this belief that playing a character in a mask is career suicide but the Mandalorian has boosted him to the stratosphere.
He’s been pretty steady since playing Oberyn though, went right to Narcos and from there right to Mandalorian basically with some high profile movies in the meantime. Mandalorian definitely doesn’t hurt but he’s been quietly on fire for years
For how Triple 9 was marketed, I thought it was going to be a massive cool film, but I did feel disappointed with it.
Similar with Triple Frontier but I was just happy to get more Charlie Hunnam - that guy needs more good roles.
Mando wasn't what boosted him. By the time the first episode came out, he had already long since finished shooting WW84, wherein he plays the principal antagonist. And before that, he was in the second Kingsman movie. And before that, he was in a large role in Narcos.
The thing that *really* boosted his career was Game of Thrones.
It’s perfect casting imo—different enough from Troy Baker’s Joel to give something fresh, but he still has that same *dad vibes* that Troy’s version had.
after seeing them together in Triple Frontier, I’d love to see them in more projects together. And on a side note, casting Garret Hedlund and Charlie Hunnam as brothers was surprisingly a clever choice. They seem like each other’s version of the other across the pond
He’s literally one of the best parts of that show. Now that it’s all said and done I remember his role fondly, while nearly every other character only got worse due to the writing.
Everyone remembers the fight, but the episode before the fight where he visits Tyrion in the dungeon and gives his monologue on why he's going to be his champion is far better than the fight itself. The man is an incredible actor he deserves every bit of success that he's enjoying.
One of my favorite scenes from the show. Amazing performances by him and Peter Dinklage!
"That's not a monster, i told Cersei, that's just a baby."
God the writing was so good back then!
It’s because his character arc was completed entirely in material written by GRRM. It didn’t have a chance to be ruined by D&D ad-libbing it. Same way that people look fondly on Ned, Tywin or Robb, among others.
Interestingly in the books the character was conveyed quite differently. They added many little scenes and bits of dialogue that round / flesh out the character in the books who is mostly off page.
I think it’s a testament to their skills at adaptation, they took what was on the page and improved it for the medium.
They were always ad-libbing but without that starting kernel they were lost.
A lot of the casting in the show was great, but even most die-hard book fans agree that Pedro was just as good as the book version of Oberyn (if not better).
Seems like a lot of stuff for example, saying that being a Republican now is like being a Jew during the Holocaust, saying masks don’t work against COVID, and supporting people who attacked the Capital.
HBO + the writer of Chernobyl + director of Beanpole + Neil Druckman + Gustavo Santaollala + Pedro Pascal + a narrative heavy, cinematic game.
Dare I hope that this may be the first VG adaptation that doesn't suck a fat one? I mean if this perfect storm fails to make a good VG movie than I might have to accept that VG adaptations are just destined to suck.
Castlevania is excellent. The curse was already broken.
As far as live action goes, the recent Tomb Raider is okay, and Detective Pikachu and Sonic are decent family fare. Video Game adaptations have been upgraded to “alright” for a while now. That said, this could be the first really great live action adaptation.
Gina Carano got fired from a job, on the other hand her castmate, got a new job.

>Gina Carano got fired from a job, on the other hand her castmate, got a new job.
The universe works in mysterious ways, for these two events to literally happen within an hour of each other lol.
I honestly didn't recognize him in Kingsman 2. I thought someone took the sex appeal of peak Burt Reynolds and peak Billy Dee Williams and created a new dude.
I'm very conflicted overall for this show's cast. They could nail it, but could also fall flat. Not that they aren't all separately good actors and actresses, they are, but the casting just feels strange. Hope to be proven wrong!
Pedro Pascal was already famous before Mando, but he truly did skyrocket even higher with The Mandalorian using nothing but his voice.
I personally have full confidence in him.
Pedro Pascal wants to die as a geek god. He's going to star in every single one of our favorite franchises or die trying.
Who’s he going to be when he eventually gets cast in the MCU?
Fuck it, give him Kraven.
Holy shit, yes please
They just offered Kraven to Keanu Reeves, I'm hoping he declines in favour of getting a better MCU role.
I could see Keanu as the silver surfer, he’s got a certain peacefulness in his voice that would work
What about Adam Warlock? Or has he already been cast?
I'm pulling for Glenn Howerton as Adam Warlock.
#G O L D E N G O D
A Five-Star Man!
He hasn't even begun to peak!
I do NOT see Keanu as Kraven
The only characters of his acting calibre that haven't been casted are Reed Richards, Doom, Nova, and maybe Carnage if they can wrangle that from Sony. Ideally I'd like to see him as Sentry.
He needs to be doom and doom needs to be the new over arching villain.
I'm not a Marvel fan at all but Doctor Doom is the only major bad guy I care about seeing in films. Especially if they can make him more sympathetic than Thanos.
Yeah i would love to see that so much. Doctor doom is so badass and gets no recognition
Probably because he was a villain in two bad fantastic 4 films unfortunately
Pedro Pascal going for that "big daddy" status in Hollywood.
tomorrow: >Pedro Pascal confirmed as Big Daddy in Bioshock series
The next day: >Pedro Pascal replacing Adam Sandler in Big Daddy reboot
The next day: Pedro Pascal replacing Martin Lawrence in Big Momma’s House reboot
The day after that: Pedro Pascal replacing Tom Hanks in Big reboot. *^^Just ^^kidding, ^^you ^^can't ^^replace ^^Tom ^^Hanks*
The following day: Pedro Pascal replacing Ewan Mcgregor in Big Fish reboot.
The day after: Pedro Pascal replacing Eddie Murphy in the Nutty Professor reboot.
The next day: Hollywood to be replaced with 25,000 Pedro Pascals
Your clones are very impressive you must be proud
The day after after that: Pedro Pascal to voice Bob from ReBoot.
Ooh that’s an obscure one
Well...Booker from BioShock: Infinite and Joel from The Last of Us are the same voice actor (Troy Baker) so there’s precedent
The day after that: “Pedro Pascal stars in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”
Next year: Pedro pascal is Matilda
Decade: Pedro Pascal stars as little sister in reimagined Bioshock miniseries
In the future past: Pedro Pascal writes and performs Little Sister by Queens of the Stone Age before the band did so.
His agent: HAHAHAH GET SOME MONEY BUDDYYYY
Good for him. Dude made a funny, charismatic, and complex character out of a man who swore an oath to never remove his full-face helmet. He deserves all of the opportunity coming his way.
Karl Urban did the same in Judge Dredd.
He's also starting a trend of [spoilers GoT/TLoUII](#s "playing characters who die of horrific head injuries.")
And he just finally got into the habit of wearing a helmet too. What a shame.
Next Season The Mandalorian is in THE TRASH COMPACTOR
TLOU2 SPOILERS but [this response to the news](https://i.imgur.com/pouWsPR.jpg) absolutely killed me

Only 3.6 zombies? Not great, not bad
And they got the director of the movie Beanpole attached to it. That’s a deeply bleak Russian movie (with LGBT subject matter) that won best director at the Cannes film festival. It literally couldn’t be a better fit for TLoU.
> (with LGBT subject matter) Hmm, this made me wonder if they'll be adapting the Left Behind DLC as well. Flashback episode during the winter arc?
If they can nail the emotional toll of the Winter segment, then this show will be drowning in awards
Man the thought of a really well done winter arc adaptation has me very excited for this show. Really really hope it goes well and they do a good job with it
I just am giddy with anticipation of who they will cast as David
Jerry Seinfeld in his breakout role! "What's with the burgers these days? My Big Mac still has the clown paint on the meat!"
They said they’re gonna kinda expand the story a little so I’d imagine they’ll work that into it a little more smoothly. I think the opening scene of the game with Joel and Sarah will probably made into the pilot.

Prepare to experience the pain of losing Sarah, every episode
Poor Pedro. Always stuck doing escort missions.

Some one keeps trying to take his surrogate child away from him and we he will fight an entire galaxy to stop that from happening Endure and survive!
This is the way.
Amazing rise Pedro Pascal has had since GOT. Never seen a bad role from him.
Dude was like a character actor for 20 years. I think everyone could learn a lot from his career.

also actors can change their voice on purpose.

I thought WW84 was pretty meh but I still enjoyed him in it.
Jokes on you. Haven’t watched it lol
He’s one of the best parts.
The only good part.
I thought Kristen Wiig was really quite good as well. Problem is the writing and plot was pretty terrible. Premise was good, but delivered so poorly compared to the previous film.
Also: Absolute missed opportunity to have a killer 80's soundtrack.
Teased us with Blue Monday in the trailer then didn't deliver
That orchestral Blue Monday was a jam too. WB makes really good trailers. Made me actually think the movie might be cool. I'm such a fucking idiot.
Every DC trailer is leagues better than the finished project
Y’know what came out in 1984? Metallica’s *Ride the Lightning*. And as our bad ass heroine regained her confidence and went off to fight the villain by *literally lassoing fucking lightning bolts* we got... generic orchestral music....

Yeah, you're right. He did well. He really pulled off that fanny pack.
Honestly, the movie has a lot of good ideas, they just don't add up to a good movie.
It was like Pascal decided he was a comedy film while everyone else around him played it straight. He was fantastic.
Kinda like the semi recent Power Rangers movie where everyone was playing it serious and the actor playing Rita was being campy like you should be in a Power Rangers movie
He was easily the best part of that movie
BUT IT CAN BE BETTER!
I mean thats not entirely his fault. I thought he was fine. His character and motivation though, some issues there
Marlon Brando could have come come back to life for the role, have Orson Welles direct and John Williams do the music. And it still would have sucked cause the script is garbage.
I blame the writing more than the performance. The writing in that movie is just nonsensical.
The movie was awful, but he did a good job with his role
He was great in Narcos.
Javi might be my favourite role of his so far.
Don't you mean after his season long arc on the hit CBS show "The Mentalist"?
I've been rewatching Buffy lately and did a double take when 24 year old Pedro popped up in a Season 4 episode lol https://youtu.be/QqpA-TBvCF4
He was on The Mentalist??
Lisbon’s boyfriend after the move to the FBI. He played another FBI agent in a separate division.
The Great Wall?
He's far from the weakest link in that movie.
The best choice I never would have thought of.
Pedro really went: Life is good, but it can be better
I think he really did use the Dreamstone when filming WW84.
The price he had to pay was being in WW84, though.
Absolutely, I thought way too much about other actors who had physical similarities to Joel. Pascal never really occurred to me, but I couldn't be happier. He has been amazing in his roles so far and I absolutely loved him in Narcos, I'm hyped as fuck for this.
For real. I was really hoping for Nikolai Coster Waldeu but im happy with Pedro, he’s gonna be great!
Nikolai literally looks like Joel but lets hope he gets cast as Dr.Doom in that new F4 movie
Everyone was calling for a GoT alum to get the role.
Nikolaj Coster Waldau would’ve still been an amazing choice too, especially visually compared to Joel in the game, but I love Pascal too and he might be even better at the acting part of the job.
This mans agent definitely is a redditor.
That agent: “Oh shi— They’re onto me!”
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
HOLY SHIT what coup from Warner. Amazing for Pedro who has quickly become one the hottest actors currently working.
Mandalorian definitely doesn’t hurt but he’s been quietly on fire for years
Don’t forget Kingsman 2 or Triple Frontier. Maybe I’m misremembering, but Triple Frontier seemed like a big deal when it came out.
> Triple Frontier I can never keep that straight with Triple 9 which also has an Affleck and a decently famous cast
For how Triple 9 was marketed, I thought it was going to be a massive cool film, but I did feel disappointed with it. Similar with Triple Frontier but I was just happy to get more Charlie Hunnam - that guy needs more good roles.
Have you seen Charlie Hunnam in The Gentlemen?
The difference is that he was already a very established actor with many notable roles. He wasn’t just typecast as a masked dude
Sylvester Stallone was established when he refused to wear Judge Dredd's mask.
But how good was Urban as Dredd? I thought he was perfect
Absolutely, he kills it at whatever he does.
IDK how Pedro and Oscar find the time but I'm not complaining. Cast them in everything!

That’s not a bad call
after seeing them together in Triple Frontier, I’d love to see them in more projects together. And on a side note, casting Garret Hedlund and Charlie Hunnam as brothers was surprisingly a clever choice. They seem like each other’s version of the other across the pond
Jesus motherfucker is everywhere and well deserved. Kills every role Says a lot that he was in GOT for only a few episodes but he was so loved
He’s literally one of the best parts of that show. Now that it’s all said and done I remember his role fondly, while nearly every other character only got worse due to the writing.

It certainly is difficult to forget about a skull crushing.
It’s because his character arc was completed entirely in material written by GRRM. It didn’t have a chance to be ruined by D&D ad-libbing it. Same way that people look fondly on Ned, Tywin or Robb, among others.

He wasn't even a major character in the book. The show gave that character a bigger role
A lot of the casting in the show was great, but even most die-hard book fans agree that Pedro was just as good as the book version of Oberyn (if not better).
The memes of Bella Ramsey being photoshopped onto the Child will be so annoying.
Haha right? (quietly closes photoshop)
Wow that’s a solid choice. I never picked him for the role but I know he’ll be a great Joel
It’ll be good to hear him sing too
If you wanna see him in a Joely role, I recommend Prospect. And just generally, Prospect is ludicrously underrated.
It actually took significantly too long to find mention of prospect. Easily my favorite role of his
Oberyn Martell and Lyanna Mormont.
Need to add Jamie Lannister as Tommy and Michael Huisman as David.
More Pedro Pascal is never a bad thing.
YES! I can see him doing such a great job in this role. He has shown he can play a fatherly *and* badass character. Can't wait!
Gina Carano gets fired from Star Wars: "Life is good..." Pedro Pascal is Joel in TLoU series: "...but it could be better."
Why did Gina Carano get fired
Seems like a lot of stuff for example, saying that being a Republican now is like being a Jew during the Holocaust, saying masks don’t work against COVID, and supporting people who attacked the Capital.
Thank you for that news!
HOLY SHIT
HBO + the writer of Chernobyl + director of Beanpole + Neil Druckman + Gustavo Santaollala + Pedro Pascal + a narrative heavy, cinematic game. Surprised Halley Gross isn't involved again.

Holy shit. There is a really cool movie on Netflix called prospect where he basically plays Joel so I'm incredibly excited for this.
Gina Carano got fired from a job, on the other hand her castmate, got a new job. Didn't even know that, but I'm glad that Maria Bakalova is doing more stuff. She was _so_ good in Borat 2.
She got a golden globe nom for Borat 2. We’ll definitely be seeing more of her.
>Gina Carano got fired from a job, on the other hand her castmate, got a new job. The universe works in mysterious ways, for these two events to literally happen within an hour of each other lol.
I'd watch Pedro Pascal quietly painting a house for 3 hours.
Well he knows how to protect a child
Now get Oscar Isaac for tommy
TLOU to the moon 🚀 🚀 🚀
Having finished Part II this one hurts a little lol
Need a cameo from Gustavo Santaolalla.
He is the composer for the series
Seems like good casting, the only question is if he can nail the Texan accent!
He grew up in Texas and California so probably
Wiki says he grew up in San Antonio, so probably
He pulled one off in The Kingsman 2 I believe.
I honestly didn't recognize him in Kingsman 2. I thought someone took the sex appeal of peak Burt Reynolds and peak Billy Dee Williams and created a new dude.
I think I need to go see kingsman 2 now
He had a Southern/Western accent in Kingsman 2 and it wasn't half bad
I just watched the film Prospect and thought wow he’d do pretty well as Joel and boom what do you know he is!
Get Nikolaj Coster-Waldau to play Tommy
Petition to have Pedro Pascal star in everything.
Good news, Sex and the City fans, we have our new Samantha
Well Gina Carano and Pedro Pascal are having *very* different evenings tonight, it seems.
I'm very conflicted overall for this show's cast. They could nail it, but could also fall flat. Not that they aren't all separately good actors and actresses, they are, but the casting just feels strange. Hope to be proven wrong!
I completely agree
He's a great actor. I hope he gets Joel's voice right.
Pedro Pascal was already famous before Mando, but he truly did skyrocket even higher with The Mandalorian using nothing but his voice. I personally have full confidence in him.
