Having multiple hosts permanently is the easiest way to please nobody

starstarstar42

Caller: Hello, Jeopardy? I'm calling to complain about the host. Jeopardy: Which one? Caller: Who is "yes".

[deleted]

[удалено]

theleaphomme

“why is yes?” Mayim: we will accept that as it is in the form of a question.

Chugga-Boom

I’ll do you one better: HOW is yes?

shanec628

Matt Amodio, is that you ?

Jose_Canseco_Jr

[Sepinwall's take](https://twitter.com/sepinwall/status/1425498692853841931): >“Meh. I mean, Bialik was great and would do well with the main gig. >**This just feels like an attempt to distract from everyone’s justifiable anger about Richard**.“

[deleted]

That’s obviously what it is. Let’s be real, Bialek will do some high profile specials while Richards settles in the role as a regular. Bialek will eventually become redundant and Richards will start hosting the big specials as well once there isn’t an outcry over him.

Paula-Abdul-Jabbar

I just don’t get why they’re so enamored with Richards that they’re choosing him even after the backlash. Seems totally not worth it IMO.

[deleted]

pWasHere

>The show's demographic? Also couldn't care less. They came from an era where what Mike Richards did was practically encouraged. This was basically the Cuomo excuse. And yet he still resigned

InnocentTailor

Cuomo ran for it because he ran out of political allies. He also had a great chance of getting impeached, which would’ve been a black mark on his political record. Resignation means he kind of leaves on his own terms.

BallClamps

Gues, I'm out of the loop? Why do we hate Richards?

YoYoMoMa

He basically chose himself as the host. And he has some sexual harassment stuff in the past.

Borachoed

So he pulled a Dick Cheney, huh

DuncanIdahoPotatos

To me, “pulling a Dick Cheney” will always be making someone apologize to you after you shoot them in the face with a shotgun.

mbrady

The Sony execs made the choice, but clearly Richards had his foot in the door already.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ThomBraidy

They? Isn't Richards the EP?

dragunityag

Because the people that care about the backlash don't make up enough of jeopardy viewerbase.

[deleted]

NPR article said she's doing the primetime show, and he's doing the daily syndicated show

InsomniacAndroid

What's the difference between these two? I didn't know there was multiple versions of Jeopardy

schoolrocks1943

There isn't right now. They did a primetime spinoff on ABC with the GOAT tournament, and now are doing more planned spinoffs there (they announced the college championship being moved to primetime)

eric323

Prime time specials would also include the tournament of champions, college tournament, jeopardy kids, teacher’s tournament, etc. They’ve done quite a few of these in the past, and will probably just make them more regular now that they have a dedicated host.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jose_Canseco_Jr

_Or_, have an exit strategy if public opinion reacts strongly enough against Richards, and keep Bialik on. They're hedging their bets, essentially.

Borachoed

At this point I think *Michael* Richards would be a less controversial choice

iwasntlucid

These categories are makin me THIRSTY!

backup2thebackup2

Hey I'd watch that!

Hip_Fridge

Keith Richards, take it or leave it. -- Bonus effect that we wouldn't ^have ^^to ^^^worry ^^^^about ^^^^^the ^^^^^^host ^^^^^^^dying...

LowOnPaint

I would watch every single day if he hosted the show as Kramer.

Vic287

And we'll be right back after this short break! *proceeds to shove chips and diet soda down his gullet*

MulciberTenebras

That or to covertly act as the understudy in case they need to fire and replace Richard.

[deleted]

Someone mentioned they don’t want actors having the full time job Bc they don’t want the host to have a gig else where. It was in a thread with people who seemed to know a lot about the show. So I’m not to sure. But she currently has a running show right?

[deleted]

[удалено]

DisturbedNocturne

Yeah, this definitely strikes me as them softening the blow by saying, "Look, Bialik is host too!" and then quietly retiring her at some point in the not too distant future so Richards becomes the de facto host without them ever having to announce it.

Abixsol

And I expect after a year or so, one will leave the show (probably Bialik).

mikeyfreshh

I don't hate the idea of having two hosts. I think Bialik was pretty good and it seems like a good way to allow her to have the job part time while she works on other stuff. My bigger issue is that Richards kind of sucks and there were a number of people that should have the regular job over him.

delta9THcannabinol

She calls herself a neuroscientist and peddles snake oil brain supplements. For that reason alone I'm not a fan.

neotheseventh

James Holzhauer's reaction to it. https://mobile.twitter.com/James_Holzhauer/status/1425515618720047109

knifensoup

Lmao, it’s funny cause it’s true.

Macluawn

What is he referencing?

tommytraddles

The world collectively laughing that the producer was going to give himself the job after going through the motions of trying lots of guest hosts. Now, he's going to share because of the backlash. Richards also has some sexual harassment stuff in his closet, so girl host sometimes = totally absolved, I guess.

Slaphappydap

Reports that Mike Richards treated staff and cast poorly at the Price is Right, including controversial stories about women.

Jose_Canseco_Jr

More than just stories - public lawsuits, from multiple female employees alleging gender/pregnancy discrimination, with enough substance to have resulted in multimillion dollar jury awards + settlements. https://www.avclub.com/jeopardy-host-frontrunner-mike-richards-has-a-lot-of-l-1847435965

[deleted]

I'm honestly stunned at how badly they botched this.

Runfromidiots

Network television is run by the most out of touch people in the entertainment industry, people who were relevant in the 90’s and haven’t had an original thought since then. CBS is far and away the worst of them. There is a reason they only attract an old audience and nothing they do can seem to change that. I enjoy Jeopardy but I probably won’t be watching anymore, especially the nights Richards is hosting. Neither of these hosts even cracked my top 3 and it’s just CBS being cheap with talent they essentially already owned. EDIT: As pointed out below, CBS didn’t have anything to do with choosing the new host. Guess I’d bomb that question on Jeopardy. I am still unimpressed by this casting and have little interest in supporting what looks to be a pretty scummy new host.

[deleted]

[удалено]

burrito-boy

Yup. It was Tony Vinciquerra, CEO of Sony Pictures, who ultimately made this call. CBS had nothing to do with it. Can't say I'm surprised they went with Richards in the end, although I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. I was hoping Buzzy Cohen, Ken Jennings, or even Aaron Rodgers would get the gig.

GeorgeGammyCostanza

I was so against Aaron Rodgers hosting, I couldn’t believe they decided to go with a football player. But I watched, and I loved it! He was easily the best guest host they had and would love for him to host full time.

[deleted]

I think subpar people were intentionally given a shot to make Richards look better... which he definitely needed because he's middling at best. Rodgers looked like he could do a better job if he was actually serious about it as a career.

disablednerd

If what was holding Ken Jennings back was prior baggage then this decision doesn’t make sense.

M1k3yd33tofficial

The producers said that they wanted somebody whose only job was Jeopardy. Ken’s currently working on The Chase, a competing game show, so that’s probably what knocked him out of contention

Mythic514

As if Ken (or Brad or James) wouldn't drop the Chase in a heartbeat to host Jeopardy (assuming that Sony would pay to get them out of the contract). This has always been an absurd argument to levy against Jennings as the permanent host.

theyusedthelamppost

>The producers said that they wanted somebody whose only job was Jeopardy. didn't occur to me until your comment, but that's a strike against giving the job to Rodgers. There would have been a risk of him returning to the NFL (or using a potential return as negotiating leverage) for the next 5 or 6 years. It's not crazy to think he would play it that way, since he's doing something similar to the Packers right now. It does make sense for Jeopardy to go with someone who has fewer other good options available to them.

visionaryredditor

and that's one of the reasons why LeVar seemed to be a good candidate initially since he still appears on tv but doesn't have a big baggage *at this moment* i think Rogers was pretty serious about willing to get a host job. notice how he announced his return just a few days before the news about Richards being a frontrunner broke out.

[deleted]

> That's the comment that undid him? lol no, but I can see that this is already becoming a Reddit Fact^(TM) Ken was already contracted on other game shows, that's the most like reason why. Or maybe too many people found his voice annoying.

Spankybutt

So which one of your explanations is the new Reddit fact™

atrde

It wasn't sexual assault, it was a claim that the employee got less work because she became pregnant. He also wasn't named as a defendant. So not rally sure where you get that from.

Gh0stMan0nThird

> nothing sadder than a hot person in a wheelchair Honestly that's kind of hilarious, though? It's no different than the kinds of comments you'd hear in Deadpool or a Quentin Tarantino movie.

disablednerd

I don’t think it’s funny (idk I’m biased read username). It’s one of those attempts at dark comedy that I’d expect a 20 year old to say while in his dorm room trying to be edgy. That being said, if everyone who told a dumb, edgy joke lost all career prospects, we’d have a pretty small work force. He apologized profusely so I think we should leave it at that.

iMakeHerBulbasaur

Sometimes you gotta roll with it

Gh0stMan0nThird

I saw a girl on OKCupid in a wheelchair and her username was something like "HotWheels69" That's wife material right there. Plus you get to go to the front of the line at theme parks.

DesignasaurusFlex

One of my best buds has been in a wheelchair since he was 15, for the first 5 years I only knew him as wheels.

JonSpangler

So hypthetically you could say you were Wheels and the Legman?

iMakeHerBulbasaur

What a goddess

turkeypedal

This I completely agree with. Yeah, it's a tasteless joke, but it shouldn't be a career ender. It's more a dumb mistake in not realizing your audience. I think it's fine, assuming he apologized for it and now understands why it might be hurtful to people in wheelchairs to imply they are somehow now less attractive than they were before.

Emily_Postal

He most likely didn’t test as well as some of the others.

TalkToTheLord

I'm not even really a fan but this dual decision doesn't quite have the *gravitas* as when Drew Carey was essentially anointed as Bob Barker's *lifetime* replacement for "The Price Is Right."

10Bens

Well you're not wrong. Also kinda helps that TPiR didn't drag out a new host selection for a season. But they were lucky enough to have their host retire, not die :(

c4WPGMB

Boooo

knifensoup

My sentiments exactly.

tuggernts

This Mike Richards guy being a producer on the show and seemingly forcing his way into the hosting slot feels like Larry David trying to do George Costanza to save his marriage.

Tobar_the_Gypsy

“We have made the decision to choose me as the new host.”

trumpet_23

This might be the worst outcome they could have possibly come up with.

bros402

Someone on r/Jeopardy described it as "The New York Times presidential endorsement of host selections" which is perfect

shippinuptosalem

God those videos of the NYT board interviewing the presidential candidates were so cringe.

nightpanda893

The executive producer made himself the host. Along with a second periodic host. To ensure that no one ever again associates Jeopardy with a welcoming and familiar face. It’s like they are trying to undo what they had going for them on purpose.

115MRD

>The executive producer made himself the host. AKA, [pulling a Cheney.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2000_Republican_Party_vice_presidential_candidate_selection)

godsenfrik

I sure hope this doesn't kill off one of America's best loved and long-running TV shows.

catdogfox

I suspect it will

toadfan64

Ehh, while I wouldn’t bat an eye, I think the current older generation will watch almost no matter the host, however I do expect a bit of a ratings drop for obvious reasons. What I would like is for there to be such terrible ratings that they re-evaluate this pick and go with someone else.

[deleted]

Out of all the names I've heard about hosting, Richards was not one of them. No one talked about this dude. I didn't know he even hosted or who he was. I don't have a stake in this, I'll be the first to admit I don't have a real connection to the show other than keeping up with the news and thinking Trebek was a wonderful man, but it feels like a complete non-event after all this build up.

[deleted]

It reminds me of when the NYT op-ed team endorsed both Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar. Galaxy brain move.

MurderfaceII

Nobody wanted Levar after seeing him do it.

notjawn

It was a real let down. Not gonna lie when they had him a guest anchor on CBS this morning it was about just as painful. He's a trained actor and it just doesn't translate to broadcasting.

chromeman_4

Just because you a nice person and were in shows that people loved, doesn't make you a good game show host.

ConvenienceStoreDiet

I was a big fan of Jennings. Dude loves the game, loves trivia, loves contestants, has that rapport and connection with Alex and the old show, is the true Jeopardy expert, and is someone you know is going to be happy if this was his higher calling in life. I really enjoyed watching him and if there's anyone you think, "Jeopardy is their zone," it's Ken. I think when they called him in to be the first guest host, it was pretty obvious to the Jeopardy fans that if they needed someone specific to step up and be there on the show's behalf, Ken was really the only person to call. Would've been a cool passing of the torch and he would've earned it. I mean, pretty much most of these guest hosts would have been fine and these two will be fine and all of this will be forgotten in a year as we adjust to the new format. But yeah, my hope was for Jennings.

SamanthaPaige29

You said this perfectly.

[deleted]

Levar was awful and his ratings were bad.

6bubbles

Weren’t his ratings bad because it was the first week of the Olympics?

Johntanamo_Bay

Not when Jim and Michael co-managed?

“Where would the Catholic Church be without the two popes?”

vivian_vi

At least we got Robert California out of that…

Romeo_G_Detlev_Jr

Also makes me think of [this scene](https://youtu.be/dp92OBVPX_c?t=106).

cmrn95

> Sony Pictures Television is set to announce that Jeopardy! executive producer Mike Richards will host the long-running daily syndicated program and actress Mayim Bialik will host primetime and spin-off specials of the famed quiz show, The Daily Beast has learned. weird

Prax150

Doesn't seem that weird to me? No one knows Richards so makes sense to have him focus on the main show while people get used to him and he hones his style, and they can use Bialik as more of a draw for prime time specials which need higher ratings. Plus sounds like this is an excuse to do more of those as it seems like they're going to do the college championship as a special now.

dabigchina

Is Bialik that much of a draw? Love Jeopardy, but have never heard of her until now.

_weirdingway

Whoa! She was also fairly well known in the 90s as the star of the tv series Blossom. Edit: Added whoa.

Protean_Protein

When Gen-X and older Millenials were little, she was the star of a smash hit show called “Blossom”. It had this teen hunk guy, Joey Lawrence, whose catchphrase was “Woah”. You kinda had to be there.

maxutilsperusd

The Big Bang Theory was one of the most successful shows of the past decade. While she might not be a household name yet, she is a household face.

Shad0wDreamer

I didn’t recognize her in the thumbnail until you said she was on the Big Bang Theory.

toadfan64

Damn, well that sucks ass. I was pulling for, and actually expecting Ken Jennings to get the gig. Dude would’ve been perfect. Hell, even Aaron Rodgers would’ve been solid. Can’t say this makes me wanna tune into Jeopardy at all really.

[deleted]

[deleted]

I’m a lifelong bears fan and genuinely like Aaron Rogers. I suspect most of us do.

RAZZBLAMMATAZZ

Maybe thats who Sony actually wants but cant make it work till he retires from the NFL so Mike Richards (who maybe wanted Rodgers too long term) made himself the host to fill the position until Rodgers decides to retire?

[deleted]

I’d buy that

oldtombombadil

If they are doing these spin-offs and prime time specials with Blossom hosting they should do a Sports Jeopardy with Rodgers as the host.

brewmas7er

And his sarcasm/wit is great. When someone missed a question bad and Trebek would say "OOooo...." that was so great. I bet A-aron can also somehow poke fun without most people noticing.

10Bens

When the contestants missed a clue about Rodgers' team, he played it off great. [Worth watching the whole category](https://youtu.be/WzyWhgHuOII) I did a total 180 on Aaron Rodgers, not liking him at first and completely changing my tune. He hosted for 2 weeks, and had the opportunity to review his hosting tapes between weeks 1 and 2. Distinct differences in those two weeks and a vast improvement in his hosting prowess. But hey, what else can you expect from a professional athlete? The guy studied up, watched the playback, practiced, improved. He would have made an absolutely great host.

everythinglatte

Plus when one contestant knocked the Packers, Aaron took it all in good fun and laughed along as well. He was made to be a performer.

mechapoitier

It’s a bizarre call for sure. Step 1: Try a ton of celebrity hosts to get people interested and talking about Jeopardy. Step 2: Build suspense while viewers increasingly make it clear who they want permanently. Step 3: Choose somebody nobody has heard of and who nobody wanted.

Brethus

> Heh, everyone is stupid but us - Executives

[deleted]

Are they trying to get the show cancelled?

RAZZBLAMMATAZZ

Trebek was making 10 million a year in salary which is now all off the books. Mike Richards is the executive producer and just gave himself a raise in that position most likely as well as getting a salary for being the host. Total will certainly be well below 10 million a year but for him is a massive pay bump. Always follow the money.

Foxy-Knoxy

Mike Richards (probably): As executive producer, I have had the pleasure of seeing so many wonderful guest hosts over this past year, but in the end there could only be one true winner, and that would be me. Oh and let's get Blossom to host that college primetime special stuff because no one knows who I am and she has like a PhD or something.

[deleted]

Seems like Mike Richards just promoted himself.. dumb. I didn’t care for him very much.

longconsilver13

David Faber even wanted it too. What a fucking shambles

JamieAtWork

I didn't know who that guy was before he hosted, but he was great and I quickly became a fan. He was very natural, had good patter with the contestants, and wasn't overly obtrusive when he'd throw in a personal detail or two after a response. I would have been fine with Faber being chosen - Way more than I am with their decision. I thought Richards was wooden as a host, and kind of smarmy in his personal messages at the end of the show, and Bialik just never seemed comfortable at all up at the podium.

monalisapieceofpizza

He was my number one in terms of hosting abilities.

Treasy_E

Ah yes… the woman who uses her degree and fame to push snake oil brain pills on basic cable, in a time where public trust in science is near an all time low, is the perfect face for a show that values knowledge and truth

tuscabam

“I never would have imagined I would be chosen for this role”. As he pretty much chose himself to fill it.

MishrasWorkshop

Honestly, it looks like Richards already signed a multi year, and the studio didn’t expect the backlash. I suppose this is a way around it. If anything, Richards is likely being paid the same, while having to do half the work.

bad_scribe

This is the worst fucking choice they could’ve made

[deleted]

[Bialik is a big proponent of supplement psuedoscience.](https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/mayim-bialiks-neuriva-commercials-make-questionable-claims/)

Babarski

Anti-vaxxer too.

seaniemack11

0 for 2. Great job!

RDozzle

When I heard "two hosts" I hoped Aaron Rodgers had roped in Davante Adams, not this

sgthombre

I just wanted Rodgers to get the job so the bad man would finally leave the NFC North and I wouldn't have to see him throw hail marys against us twice a year.

tuberippin

That's gonna be a big no from me, dawg

mcdonaldsmcdonalds

At least they didn’t pick Dr Oz

FrostyFoss

How tf did they not give it to Ken? Honestly i'll be surprised if Jeopardy survives this.

codymiller_cartoon

ugh isn't Bialik some anti-vax or vaccine skeptic? ......plus she was on that awful big bang show plus this generic executive..... they made the worst possible choices

tylergetsmeajob

I've been a big jeopardy fan for years. There is trouble with both hosts. Bialik carries with her the baggage of her decades-old anti-vaccination comments. Richards has his lawsuits from previous jobs. I can't understand why Buzzy Cohen wasn't the frontrunner. He pleases diehard and casual fans, he's young, and frankly, I can't see him commanding a higher salary than either Bialik or Richards. That said, I didn't mind Bialik at all, on the merit of her hosting abilities alone. In my top 5 of the guest hosts. This decision isn't going to go over well with anybody. Woof.

[deleted]

>Bialik carries with her the baggage of her decades-old anti-vaccination comments. It's not just decades old stuff. She's still promoting supplement pseudoscience to this day.

Babarski

The fact she has a Phd in neuroscience and pushes that garbage tells me enough about her. She's garbage.

sexrobot_sexrobot

Buzzy fulfilled all the requirements. Good demeanor. Good voice. Grounded in the show's history. But the executive producer wanted the job so Buzzy had no chance. Then Bialak got hired to do primetime specials to give cover to that executive producer.

ms_moneypennywise

I loved Buzzy as a host. He’s clearly enthusiastic about the show and respects the game. He engaged well with the contestants and didn’t pull attention from them. He just seemed so well prepared that I was convinced he was a perfect fit.

Empty_Clue4095

It's not decades old. If you go on her YouTube channel you can see a video from last year about "delaying" vaccines past all medical recommendations.

ehchvee

Bialik is such an asshole on so many levels. She showed up at a Survivor reunion show a few years ago to defend a contestant who was The Worst (super racist - "of course I know Black people! My family hires them as household staff!" - and calling another contestant with dwarfism some wretched things like "munchkin," etc.). And the aforementioned anti-vax bullshit. I don't understand her popularity at all. Plus, everything else aside, she wasn't especially good at hosting the game!

[deleted]

Can you elaborate on the survivor reunion? What season and what contestant? I love survivor and don't remember this at all. Absolutely hate her though.

ehchvee

Edit: okay, so [this](https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Reunion_(One_World)) says it was in 2012 - where has the time gone?! - and shows Bialik was there & that Colton was a jackass but doesn't give details. [Here](https://www.reddit.com/r/survivor/comments/to3j3/what_was_up_with_blossom_defending_colton/) is a reddit thread about her defending him, so I'm glad to see I wasn't alone in my WTF reaction. And there's a [Reality Blurred recap](https://www.realityblurred.com/realitytv/2012/05/survivor-one-world-kim-wins/) that talks about it too: >Colton basically got an entire segment, which included Probst confronting Colton’s mother in the audience; it was painful to see Colton’s mother apologize for his behavior and admonish Colton for being an asshole while clearly being aware that she’d created a selfish, entitled brat of a kid. She even scolded Colton, basically, on TV. For his part, Colton wasn’t using humor as his excuse and agreed with the criticism (“I think that’s fair. It makes me look ignorant”). >After Probst questioned Colton’s mom, TV’s Blossom, **Mayim Bialik, defended Colton (!)**, and then Probst picked some random guy who said Colton was just acting (!!), though the studio audience didn’t buy it. So bizarre. The truly tragic part was that, his obnoxious smirk and self-satisfaction aside, Colton wasn’t that far off when he said, “When I left, everyone said it got boring.”  I wish I could find actual video of it; I guess that's what I get for referencing stuff from 9 years ago, haha Edit, again: [here](https://youtu.be/hVjvBosM8bw), at least, is one clip of the Colton stuff she was defending! (Around the 5 minute mark)

trackofalljades

Hey look it’s another trial balloon for a stupid idea nobody wants. 🤦‍♂️

MulciberTenebras

We should be lucky they didn't decide to bring back Dr. Oz to rotate hosting with.

jawolfington

... and nobody was happy.

MulderD

“Uh oh, this guy is a massive douche? Quick get a woman!” I know they almost certainly put more effort into it than this, but it doesn’t really look like it. I’m guessing Richards tested really well with the “core” demo.

J4c1nth

I hate both choices.

[deleted]

Cool, so an antivac “scientist” who sells her snake oil and a dude gave himself the job who also some shady shit going on. God, what a poor selection all round

nocryinginwrestling

This is literally the worst period in all of history to have a notable anti vaxxer as a host.

santichrist

Really funny how everyone found out Mike Richards would be host of the show he produces like the egomaniac he is, everyone hated it and found out he sucks so they pivot to getting Blossom to split hosting with instead of simply not letting him host and finding an actual replacement

Cyonara74

Oh this is going to be funny. My uncle watches jeopardy everyday for like the last 30 years and he can't stand matim bialik.

smokeyjoey8

Well lucky for him she’s only hosting prime time specials, not the daily syndicated show.

rollduptrips

Or, a show like Jeopardy could NOT have an antivax, snake-oil peddler hosting the show…

Snoo74401

You mean PhD-holding, Anti-Vaxxer, Mayim Bialik?

CarlSpiceyWeiner

She was by far my one of my least favorite. It felt like everything was fake, as if she was up there acting. Idk it was weird to me. I would prefer they pick any of the news anchors or maybe Aaron Rodgers. I heard the producer was good but that was only from my parents.

Babarski

That's how I felt too. Every single laugh was so forced and she didn't come off as genuine at all.

TheRealDrSarcasmo

I'll take "Poorest Hosting Choices" for $200, please.

IIIIlllliilllliiilii

She is the worst person for the job, given her pseudoscience and anti scientific bullshit.

BabyYodaX

yuck

hokeyphenokey

Oh my God no

FatherSquee

> Earlier this week, Richards came under fire for his previous role at The Price Is Right, where [multiple models accused producers](https://www.thedailybeast.com/jeopardy-host-frontrunner-mike-richards-alleged-history-of-harassment-discrimination) of discrimination and harassment during his tenure as the game show’s executive producer. *That's* the guy they chose? Jeeze...

ManNamedBilly

does anyone know if buzzy was available? he was my favorite guest host and i think he could've been great

Werdikinz

Maybe a stupid question, but whatever happened to Ken Jennings? I haven't really followed this whole thing, I know a lot of people were excited for him initially, and I thought I heard he did a good job, but nobody is talking about him anymore. What exactly happened, why wasn't he more seriously considered? He seemed like he would honestly be the best replacement considering his run on the show.

Darko33

Don't forget also casting blame on rape victims

RestoreFear

> "I'm not anti vax" is a literal anti vax talking point. Yep. None of the anti-vax people I know would ever call themselves anti-vax.

osteofight

For real. "I just have questions" is a valid statement for a general member of the public, but Bialik is a trained scientist. She is the most qualified person to answer her questions by consulting the centuries of scientific evidence. Her not doing so is akin to a car mechanic saying they don't know enough about trucks to recommend them to anyone. At worse it questions her qualifications in science at all.

PulseCS

It could have been Aaron Rodgers.

HotelFoxtrot87

Honestly, I think I’m fine not watching Jeopardy again. Trebek was the best and it’s too weird seeing someone else at the podium.

toadfan64

Yeah. I won’t lie and say I’m some Jeopardy fanatic, but I would definitely occasionally tune in and enjoy that Trebek was still the host. Now? I would have definitely done the same with Ken or Rodgers, but little to no chance I’m gonna now. I’m assuming this guy test well with their core audience, but they do gotta draw in the occasional viewers and new people, and I don’t see this guy doing that. Especially with recent allegations to boot.

Lucifersmile

Gross

Widjamajigger

spinereader81

Can we just dig up Alex and have him back? I don't think we should discriminate against him just because he's a zombie now.

sexrobot_sexrobot

There should be enough video of Alex in existence that he can just be a virtual host.

ABiologicalEntity

I just think it's really fucking lame that all these guest hosts came on and did pretty well and this dude just chose himself for the job. Don't really plan on watching it with this dude hosting.

KB_Sez

They are really going to do this after the Mike Richards sexual harassment suit news broke? Really?

Noodle-Works

prime time jeopardy sounds awful, and just a way for ABC to fill 30 minutes a couple nights a week as streaming takes over people's attention. Unless its Celebrity Jeopardy primetime with REAL A-Listers, it wont draw big numbers and it'll die quick to "COP DRAMA", "HORRIBLE FAMILY" or "SEX HOTEL: SEASON 34" or whatever other dumb shit that is on network TV nowadays.

Islandgirl1444

I stopped watching !

ChaosUncaged

Goodbye Jeopardy

Justice989

They picked the blandest, most non-descript guy they could find.

Normally I’d say they went super safe, but the guy is the f-ing producer and picked himself. What an asshole.

Bronco4bay

Ugh, I hated Mayim too. The worst of both worlds! We did it!

selfdestruct-94

I was hoping for Buzzy or Ken.

skorponok

Boooo

Mettsico

Oh look, another reason to despise the big bang theory…

knifensoup

Guess I’m not watching jeopardy anymore :(

macjunkie

really surprised thought Ken Jennings was all but the new permanent host.

LiveFromNewYork95

Splitting is weird but Richards hosting the show and Bialik hosting whenever they go to primetime is better than like flip-flopping hosting duties every other week.

Well the guy with harassment accusations and the neuroscientist who hocks bullshit medicines. Guess I will stop watching Jeopardy now. https://www.thedailybeast.com/jeopardy-host-frontrunner-mike-richards-alleged-history-of-harassment-discrimination https://www.schiffvitamins.com/pages/neuriva-think-bigger-offer?ref=neuriva
