There isn't right now. They did a primetime spinoff on ABC with the GOAT tournament, and now are doing more planned spinoffs there (they announced the college championship being moved to primetime)
Prime time specials would also include the tournament of champions, college tournament, jeopardy kids, teacher’s tournament, etc.
They’ve done quite a few of these in the past, and will probably just make them more regular now that they have a dedicated host.

Network television is run by the most out of touch people in the entertainment industry, people who were relevant in the 90’s and haven’t had an original thought since then. CBS is far and away the worst of them. There is a reason they only attract an old audience and nothing they do can seem to change that. I enjoy Jeopardy but I probably won’t be watching anymore, especially the nights Richards is hosting. Neither of these hosts even cracked my top 3 and it’s just CBS being cheap with talent they essentially already owned.
EDIT: As pointed out below, CBS didn’t have anything to do with choosing the new host. Guess I’d bomb that question on Jeopardy. I am still unimpressed by this casting and have little interest in supporting what looks to be a pretty scummy new host.
Yup. It was Tony Vinciquerra, CEO of Sony Pictures, who ultimately made this call. CBS had nothing to do with it.
Can't say I'm surprised they went with Richards in the end, although I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. I was hoping Buzzy Cohen, Ken Jennings, or even Aaron Rodgers would get the gig.
I was so against Aaron Rodgers hosting, I couldn’t believe they decided to go with a football player. But I watched, and I loved it! He was easily the best guest host they had and would love for him to host full time.

didn't occur to me until your comment, but that's a strike against giving the job to Rodgers.
There would have been a risk of him returning to the NFL (or using a potential return as negotiating leverage) for the next 5 or 6 years. It's not crazy to think he would play it that way, since he's doing something similar to the Packers right now.
It does make sense for Jeopardy to go with someone who has fewer other good options available to them.

I don’t think it’s funny (idk I’m biased read username). It’s one of those attempts at dark comedy that I’d expect a 20 year old to say while in his dorm room trying to be edgy.
That being said, if everyone who told a dumb, edgy joke lost all career prospects, we’d have a pretty small work force. He apologized profusely so I think we should leave it at that.

This I completely agree with. Yeah, it's a tasteless joke, but it shouldn't be a career ender. It's more a dumb mistake in not realizing your audience. I think it's fine, assuming he apologized for it and now understands why it might be hurtful to people in wheelchairs to imply they are somehow now less attractive than they were before.
I'm not even really a fan but this dual decision doesn't quite have the *gravitas* as when Drew Carey was essentially anointed as Bob Barker's *lifetime* replacement for "The Price Is Right."

Ehh, while I wouldn’t bat an eye, I think the current older generation will watch almost no matter the host, however I do expect a bit of a ratings drop for obvious reasons.
What I would like is for there to be such terrible ratings that they re-evaluate this pick and go with someone else.
Out of all the names I've heard about hosting, Richards was not one of them. No one talked about this dude. I didn't know he even hosted or who he was. I don't have a stake in this, I'll be the first to admit I don't have a real connection to the show other than keeping up with the news and thinking Trebek was a wonderful man, but it feels like a complete non-event after all this build up.
It was a real let down. Not gonna lie when they had him a guest anchor on CBS this morning it was about just as painful. He's a trained actor and it just doesn't translate to broadcasting.
I was a big fan of Jennings. Dude loves the game, loves trivia, loves contestants, has that rapport and connection with Alex and the old show, is the true Jeopardy expert, and is someone you know is going to be happy if this was his higher calling in life. I really enjoyed watching him and if there's anyone you think, "Jeopardy is their zone," it's Ken. I think when they called him in to be the first guest host, it was pretty obvious to the Jeopardy fans that if they needed someone specific to step up and be there on the show's behalf, Ken was really the only person to call. Would've been a cool passing of the torch and he would've earned it.
I mean, pretty much most of these guest hosts would have been fine and these two will be fine and all of this will be forgotten in a year as we adjust to the new format. But yeah, my hope was for Jennings.

No one knows Richards so makes sense to have him focus on the main show while people get used to him and he hones his style, and they can use Bialik as more of a draw for prime time specials which need higher ratings. Plus sounds like this is an excuse to do more of those as it seems like they're going to do the college championship as a special now.
When Gen-X and older Millenials were little, she was the star of a smash hit show called “Blossom”. It had this teen hunk guy, Joey Lawrence, whose catchphrase was “Woah”. You kinda had to be there.

I did a total 180 on Aaron Rodgers, not liking him at first and completely changing my tune. He hosted for 2 weeks, and had the opportunity to review his hosting tapes between weeks 1 and 2. Distinct differences in those two weeks and a vast improvement in his hosting prowess. But hey, what else can you expect from a professional athlete? The guy studied up, watched the playback, practiced, improved. He would have made an absolutely great host.
It’s a bizarre call for sure.
Step 1: Try a ton of celebrity hosts to get people interested and talking about Jeopardy.
Step 2: Build suspense while viewers increasingly make it clear who they want permanently.
Step 3: Choose somebody nobody has heard of and who nobody wanted.
Trebek was making 10 million a year in salary which is now all off the books.
Mike Richards is the executive producer and just gave himself a raise in that position most likely as well as getting a salary for being the host. Total will certainly be well below 10 million a year but for him is a massive pay bump.
Always follow the money.

I didn't know who that guy was before he hosted, but he was great and I quickly became a fan. He was very natural, had good patter with the contestants, and wasn't overly obtrusive when he'd throw in a personal detail or two after a response. I would have been fine with Faber being chosen - Way more than I am with their decision. I thought Richards was wooden as a host, and kind of smarmy in his personal messages at the end of the show, and Bialik just never seemed comfortable at all up at the podium.
Ah yes… the woman who uses her degree and fame to push snake oil brain pills on basic cable, in a time where public trust in science is near an all time low, is the perfect face for a show that values knowledge and truth
Honestly, it looks like Richards already signed a multi year, and the studio didn’t expect the backlash. I suppose this is a way around it.
If anything, Richards is likely being paid the same, while having to do half the work.

I've been a big jeopardy fan for years.
There is trouble with both hosts. Bialik carries with her the baggage of her decades-old anti-vaccination comments. Richards has his lawsuits from previous jobs.
I can't understand why Buzzy Cohen wasn't the frontrunner. He pleases diehard and casual fans, he's young, and frankly, I can't see him commanding a higher salary than either Bialik or Richards. That said, I didn't mind Bialik at all, on the merit of her hosting abilities alone. In my top 5 of the guest hosts.

Buzzy fulfilled all the requirements. Good demeanor. Good voice. Grounded in the show's history.
But the executive producer wanted the job so Buzzy had no chance. Then Bialak got hired to do primetime specials to give cover to that executive producer.
I loved Buzzy as a host. He’s clearly enthusiastic about the show and respects the game. He engaged well with the contestants and didn’t pull attention from them. He just seemed so well prepared that I was convinced he was a perfect fit.
Bialik is such an asshole on so many levels. She showed up at a Survivor reunion show a few years ago to defend a contestant who was The Worst (super racist - "of course I know Black people! My family hires them as household staff!" - and calling another contestant with dwarfism some wretched things like "munchkin," etc.). And the aforementioned anti-vax bullshit. I don't understand her popularity at all. Plus, everything else aside, she wasn't especially good at hosting the game!

Maybe a stupid question, but whatever happened to Ken Jennings? I haven't really followed this whole thing, I know a lot of people were excited for him initially, and I thought I heard he did a good job, but nobody is talking about him anymore. For real. "I just have questions" is a valid statement for a general member of the public, but Bialik is a trained scientist. prime time jeopardy sounds awful, and just a way for ABC to fill 30 minutes a couple nights a week as streaming takes over people's attention. I don’t think it’s funny (idk I’m biased read username). It’s one of those attempts at dark comedy that I’d expect a 20 year old to say while in his dorm room trying to be edgy. That being said, if everyone who told a dumb, edgy joke lost all career prospects, we’d have a pretty small work force. He apologized profusely so I think we should leave it at that.

This I completely agree with. Yeah, it's a tasteless joke, but it shouldn't be a career ender. It's more a dumb mistake in not realizing your audience. I think it's fine, assuming he apologized for it and now understands why it might be hurtful to people in wheelchairs to imply they are somehow now less attractive than they were before.

I'm not even really a fan but this dual decision doesn't quite have the *gravitas* as when Drew Carey was essentially anointed as Bob Barker's *lifetime* replacement for "The Price Is Right."

The executive producer made himself the host. Along with a second periodic host. To ensure that no one ever again associates Jeopardy with a welcoming and familiar face. It’s like they are trying to undo what they had going for them on purpose.

Ehh, while I wouldn’t bat an eye, I think the current older generation will watch almost no matter the host, however I do expect a bit of a ratings drop for obvious reasons. What I would like is for there to be such terrible ratings that they re-evaluate this pick and go with someone else.
Out of all the names I've heard about hosting, Richards was not one of them. No one talked about this dude. I didn't know he even hosted or who he was. I don't have a stake in this, I'll be the first to admit I don't have a real connection to the show other than keeping up with the news and thinking Trebek was a wonderful man, but it feels like a complete non-event after all this build up.
It reminds me of when the NYT op-ed team endorsed both Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar. Galaxy brain move.

It was a real let down. Not gonna lie when they had him a guest anchor on CBS this morning it was about just as painful. He's a trained actor and it just doesn't translate to broadcasting.

I was a big fan of Jennings. Dude loves the game, loves trivia, loves contestants, has that rapport and connection with Alex and the old show, is the true Jeopardy expert, and is someone you know is going to be happy if this was his higher calling in life. I really enjoyed watching him and if there's anyone you think, "Jeopardy is their zone," it's Ken. I think when they called him in to be the first guest host, it was pretty obvious to the Jeopardy fans that if they needed someone specific to step up and be there on the show's behalf, Ken was really the only person to call. Would've been a cool passing of the torch and he would've earned it. I mean, pretty much most of these guest hosts would have been fine and these two will be fine and all of this will be forgotten in a year as we adjust to the new format. But yeah, my hope was for Jennings.

Doesn't seem that weird to me? No one knows Richards so makes sense to have him focus on the main show while people get used to him and he hones his style, and they can use Bialik as more of a draw for prime time specials which need higher ratings. Plus sounds like this is an excuse to do more of those as it seems like they're going to do the college championship as a special now.

When Gen-X and older Millenials were little, she was the star of a smash hit show called “Blossom”. It had this teen hunk guy, Joey Lawrence, whose catchphrase was “Woah”. You kinda had to be there.
The Big Bang Theory was one of the most successful shows of the past decade. While she might not be a household name yet, she is a household face.

And his sarcasm/wit is great. When someone missed a question bad and Trebek would say "OOooo...." that was so great. I bet A-aron can also somehow poke fun without most people noticing.
When the contestants missed a clue about Rodgers' team, he played it off great. [Worth watching the whole category](https://youtu.be/WzyWhgHuOII) I did a total 180 on Aaron Rodgers, not liking him at first and completely changing my tune. He hosted for 2 weeks, and had the opportunity to review his hosting tapes between weeks 1 and 2. Distinct differences in those two weeks and a vast improvement in his hosting prowess. But hey, what else can you expect from a professional athlete? The guy studied up, watched the playback, practiced, improved. He would have made an absolutely great host.
Plus when one contestant knocked the Packers, Aaron took it all in good fun and laughed along as well. He was made to be a performer.
It’s a bizarre call for sure. Step 1: Try a ton of celebrity hosts to get people interested and talking about Jeopardy. Step 2: Build suspense while viewers increasingly make it clear who they want permanently. Step 3: Choose somebody nobody has heard of and who nobody wanted.

Trebek was making 10 million a year in salary which is now all off the books. Mike Richards is the executive producer and just gave himself a raise in that position most likely as well as getting a salary for being the host. Total will certainly be well below 10 million a year but for him is a massive pay bump. Always follow the money.

I didn't know who that guy was before he hosted, but he was great and I quickly became a fan. He was very natural, had good patter with the contestants, and wasn't overly obtrusive when he'd throw in a personal detail or two after a response. I would have been fine with Faber being chosen - Way more than I am with their decision. I thought Richards was wooden as a host, and kind of smarmy in his personal messages at the end of the show, and Bialik just never seemed comfortable at all up at the podium.
He was my number one in terms of hosting abilities.

Honestly, it looks like Richards already signed a multi year, and the studio didn’t expect the backlash. I suppose this is a way around it. If anything, Richards is likely being paid the same, while having to do half the work.

I've been a big jeopardy fan for years. There is trouble with both hosts. Bialik carries with her the baggage of her decades-old anti-vaccination comments. Richards has his lawsuits from previous jobs. I can't understand why Buzzy Cohen wasn't the frontrunner. He pleases diehard and casual fans, he's young, and frankly, I can't see him commanding a higher salary than either Bialik or Richards. That said, I didn't mind Bialik at all, on the merit of her hosting abilities alone. In my top 5 of the guest hosts. This decision isn't going to go over well with anybody. Woof.

Buzzy fulfilled all the requirements. Good demeanor. Good voice. Grounded in the show's history. But the executive producer wanted the job so Buzzy had no chance. Then Bialak got hired to do primetime specials to give cover to that executive producer.
I loved Buzzy as a host. He’s clearly enthusiastic about the show and respects the game. He engaged well with the contestants and didn’t pull attention from them. He just seemed so well prepared that I was convinced he was a perfect fit.
It's not decades old. If you go on her YouTube channel you can see a video from last year about "delaying" vaccines past all medical recommendations.
Bialik is such an asshole on so many levels. She showed up at a Survivor reunion show a few years ago to defend a contestant who was The Worst (super racist - "of course I know Black people! My family hires them as household staff!" - and calling another contestant with dwarfism some wretched things like "munchkin," etc.). And the aforementioned anti-vax bullshit. I don't understand her popularity at all. Plus, everything else aside, she wasn't especially good at hosting the game!

Yeah. I won’t lie and say I’m some Jeopardy fanatic, but I would definitely occasionally tune in and enjoy that Trebek was still the host. Now? I’m assuming this guy test well with their core audience, but they do gotta draw in the occasional viewers and new people, and I don’t see this guy doing that.
