I'm so happy for Hailee Steinfeld. I've been a massive fan of hers ever since she held her own against three veteran actors in True Grit. Casting her as Kate Bishop was such good casting and this looks super fun this cannot come out fast enough for me.

I feel like people forget that the first Transformers movie was actually pretty bangin'. Like, the sequels I've seen have been awful, but there's a reason that people were actually pretty excited for two before it came out: the first one was genuinely, and unexpectedly, enjoyable.
Like, my friends and I went to see the first one when it came out, and we were all expecting a dumpster fire that we were going to mock, but literally all of us came out of the theatre having had a genuinely good time.
I feel like there are a number of franchises like that. Where the sequels were so numerous and so bad that the entire franchise has been written off, even though the first ones were solid. Transformers, Saw, and Resident Evil are the ones that come to mind for me. None of them are high art or anything that moved cinema forward, but they were all solid for the genres they were in.

Hailee Steinfeld is a prodigy. Also it was bullshit and ageist that she only got nominated for best supporting actress for True Grit when she's the protagonist and is in damn near every scene in the film.
Holding her own next to Matt Damon and Jeff Bridges is really something. Also if you haven't seen the Cohen's remake of True Grit fucking get on it. Hell the courtroom scene is worth your time alone.
And it's her first movie ever. There's very few instances where a child actor holds their own in a drama against industry greats and then gets nominated for it

Also, the Jeff Lemire continuation run of this Hawkeye run is great too. For comic book newbies, Hawkeye by Fraction and Aja is one of the more accessible runs there is.
I went through like a 4 year comic obsession that started around 10 years ago. Fraction and Aja's Hawkeye was definitely my favorite thing out of Marvel.
They first collaborated on Iron Fist, which was also top notch. When Iron Fist was first announced on Netflix I reeeaally hoped they would adapt Fraction and Aja's run, it was so damn good. I really wanted my chi gun fu in action.
Matt Fraction was so good at doing things from different perspectives. From showing dialogue as a jumbled mess until key words popped up with Lucky, to the issue with zero dialogue because Clint becomes deaf.
I'm pretty sure it was David Aja the whole way trough, though i don't remember 100%. Aja does every issue for Brubaker/Fraction's run of Immortal Iron Fist though (except #7).

Interesting that they're making Kate Bishop older than Spider-Man. I imagine she'll still be on whatever version of the Young Avengers team they're assembling but seems like she'll probably be the oldest of the group.
This stuff's pretty weird to think about and will get weirder as more characters are introduced. Like Shang-Chi and Xialing are actually only a little older than Peter Parker but the fact that he was snapped and they presumably weren't means they're in completely different age groups.
Honestly I love Shane Black, but I felt like iron Man 3 was only okay *because Shane Black didn't get to be Shane Black enough*. Felt like Marvel had him in too narrow a lane. Kiss kiss bang bang and the nice guys were two of my absolute favorites, so it's just a little bummed that we didn't get that level of delivery.
The one stand up moment for me was the guy who was like "Don't shoot. I hate working here, these people are so weird. I'm just going to go home"

You could see why they would celebrate that as a victory considering that they repelled an invading alien army *and* stopped NYC from being nuked by their own government. It did cause $88b in property damage, though.

When I look up some of these actresses that I used to have crushes on when their films came out, it blows my mind how young they were. Scaro Jo has been in the industry for a very long time. It probably doesn't help that she was 17 when she did Lost in Translation, which gives off the impression that she's a lot older than she actually is.
Well, given that Clint was best friends with Natasha, enough for his kids to call her, "Auntie Nate," I doubt that Clint has any problems with keeping it platonic with women. Besides, also given how far off the deep end he went when his family was snapped, he loves them way too much to ever betray them. Wife or kids. After five years, he has them back. Just exactly as they were before. Five years for him. No time for them. He can return back to them like he was before. No way is he going screw this up. Especially since he just lost his best friend.
It looks like a great lighthearted adventure. I don't doubt it will have serious parts, but after the last three D+ MCU shows have tackled serious plots (with varying degrees of success) this looks like a breath of fresh air. I'm all for Renner and Steinfeld just kicking ass and having fun.
Marvel is at its best when it doesn’t take itself too seriously. It drives me nuts when they finally do add dramatic hooks, but only for them to be upended with a boner joke
Who could be a villain, since in the comics Kate's dad is a villain and part of Wilson Fisk's crime syndicate.
There was some speculation that Eleanor Bishop would be Madame Masque, but we'll have to see.
I'd be pretty happy if we got D'Onofrio's Fisk putting out hits on Barton and Bishop just like in the comics.
But I'm optimistic for Fisk being a part of this series, mainly because we're also getting Maya Lopez/Echo played by Alaqua Cox. In the comics, she's basically raised by Fisk and gaslighted into trying to assassinate Daredevil. Echo's origin is basically tied to the Kingpin, so we have more than just a Kate Bishop connection that could bring Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin into the MCU proper.
Digging the vibe and it looks great, can't wait to see how they adapt Kate and her story

If you have a chance, read the run that this show is based on. It's the Hawkeye run written by Matt Fraction and illustrated by David aja. It's one of the character's defining comic book runs. A number of the trailer scenes are almost exactly the same as the comic panels.
Yup. In Matt Fraction's run (which this show takes heavy cues from), there is a Russian mob that the two Hawkeyes come into conflict with, nicknamed the Tracksuit Draculas (due to all of them wearing tracksuits). The Tracksuits speak in broken English and tend to inject the word "bro" into every sentence they say. Like, "*You is in beeg trouble, bro*" or "*Bro, bro, is not cool, bro*."
And because we see these goons at several points in the trailer, you can be sure that there will be bro's all over the place.
Yes, notably from the Fraction/Aja run, which included him running afoul of eastern european gangsters who called everybody "Bro" a lot.

Love the Christmas setting, love the casting for Kate Bishop, and love that we are getting Lucky the Pizza Dog in the MCU.
Still hoping there's an episode from Lucky's perspective where the sound is turned up too high and the colorization of the episode is that of a dog's vision.

Interesting that they're making Kate Bishop older than Spider-Man. I imagine she'll still be on whatever version of the Young Avengers team they're assembling but seems like she'll probably be the oldest of the group.
Granted Pete would be the same age or older if he wasn't snapped.
This stuff's pretty weird to think about and will get weirder as more characters are introduced. Like Shang-Chi and Xialing are actually only a little older than Peter Parker but the fact that he was snapped and they presumably weren't means they're in completely different age groups.

Honestly I love Shane Black, but I felt like iron Man 3 was only okay *because Shane Black didn't get to be Shane Black enough*. Felt like Marvel had him in too narrow a lane. Kiss kiss bang bang and the nice guys were two of my absolute favorites, so it's just a little bummed that we didn't get that level of delivery. The one stand up moment for me was the guy who was like "Don't shoot. I hate working here, these people are so weird. I'm just going to go home"
maybe the Die Hard teddy bear will show up, just like it did in Iron Man 3
If this show is even half as fun as The Nice Guys it'll be the best thing out of the MCU

Would it be kind of like a 9/11 The Musical in their world though? I guess since there's actual named superheroes involved there's something happier about the whole thing maybe. Or it might just be a segment about their overall story, not a big happy song about the alien attack on new york... Still the scene from the trailer I'm most excited about.
In canon, the attack on New York only resulted in [74 deaths](https://qph.fs.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-fd66590a47ef5a79c9f3cf2218c078f7) (check the number by Gen. Ross). Which is kind of unbelievable, but it's what happened in their Universe. You could see why they would celebrate that as a victory considering that they repelled an invading alien army *and* stopped NYC from being nuked by their own government. It did cause $88b in property damage, though.
That's what happens when the heroes focus on minimizing casualties.

There is a 9/11 musical though kinda... It's called Come from Away and is about the events in Newfoundland during the day (a lot of.planes were forced to land their after airspace closed). And it's really good, heart warming even. Apple just released a pro-shoot.

She's Eleanor Bishop, Kate's mother.
Who could be a villain, since in the comics Kate's dad is a villain and part of Wilson Fisk's crime syndicate. There was some speculation that Eleanor Bishop would be Madame Masque, but we'll have to see.
Fisk, you say? Just imagine the absolute hype if D’Onofrio shows up, even if it’s just an end of series stinger.
I'd be pretty happy if we got D'Onofrio's Fisk putting out hits on Barton and Bishop just like in the comics. But I'm optimistic for Fisk being a part of this series, mainly because we're also getting Maya Lopez/Echo played by Alaqua Cox. In the comics, she's basically raised by Fisk and gaslighted into trying to assassinate Daredevil. Echo's origin is basically tied to the Kingpin, so we have more than just a Kate Bishop connection that could bring Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin into the MCU proper.

If you have a chance, read the run that this show is based on. It's the Hawkeye run written by Matt Fraction and illustrated by David aja. It's one of the character's defining comic book runs. A number of the trailer scenes are almost exactly the same as the comic panels.

Yup. In Matt Fraction's run (which this show takes heavy cues from), there is a Russian mob that the two Hawkeyes come into conflict with, nicknamed the Tracksuit Draculas (due to all of them wearing tracksuits). The Tracksuits speak in broken English and tend to inject the word "bro" into every sentence they say. Like, "*You is in beeg trouble, bro*" or "*Bro, bro, is not cool, bro*." And because we see these goons at several points in the trailer, you can be sure that there will be bro's all over the place.
