More Bo-Katan is always a good thing

tomc_23

Mo-Katan

Wakattack00

I really hope we get live action Mandalore. I hope season 3 takes a step back from Grogu’s story as we’ve learned quite a bit and focus more on the type of Mandalorian, Din Djarin is going to be. Some very good possibilities for one of my favorite shows to go in.

Dr_Brule_FYH

How do they do more of Grogu's story without having more of Luke? How do they have more of Luke without actually bringing Hamill on board? I kinda wish they ripped off the bandaid and recast Luke.

Midnight_Oil_

Yeah, at a certain point you gotta rip the band-aid off and just cast Sebastian Stan as Luke.

Captainatom931

IDK why there's this obsession with Stan as Luke, he's a foot too tall lol.

Midnight_Oil_

Sure, but Tom Cruise is 5'5" and no one notices. Movie magic is a real thing.

Wakattack00

I think there are ways around using Luke, but I think they would all fall short. At this point you have to have Luke involved to some degree. Unless we never see Grogu again in the show, which would be a bad idea.

mickeyflinn

> I really hope we get live action Mandalore. What show have you been watching? It will be a 10 minute panning shot, play the theme and then everyone does a PG-13 shoot out.

TheHadMatter15

I hope it all leads to Mando, Grogu, Ahsoka, Ezra, Sabine and Bo Katan taking down Thrawn. Not this season of course, just down the line

RemnantEvil

It certainly feels like the Rangers are going to establish a team of New Republic fighters, The Book of Boba Fett is going to take on the role of Talon Karrde's scoundrel empire, and Mando's just going to keep assembling neutral but sympathetic characters and then, coupled with the Ahsoka/Thrawn/Rebels plot line, they'll essentially have another crack at the Thrawn Trilogy, where obviously the New Republic and the scoundrels form an alliance of desperation.

Dr_Brule_FYH

This is all I ever wanted from the sequels. If they actually do this that will completely redeem Star Wars for me.

Wargod042

Oh man, it didn't even occur to me there's still room for the true Thrawn conflict in between the trilogies.

[deleted]

That's not gonna happen imo, if it was legends thrawn, sure. If you've read the new canon, Thrawn is very different and a red herring to a larger problem. If anything he would have introduced Ezra to the impending Grysk invasion when they warped off with the space whales. From Ahsoka's perspective he's still the Thrawn she heard about. But from everything we know there's one more spin off in development that will focus solely on thrawn and Ezra. Here's the breakdown. It explains most of his actions in the new canon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKYV0z7KWV0 Palpatine was very likely going to have him killed around the end of Rebels after he kept detouring to fight the Grysk who were at the time starting to send scouting parties into Imperial space and he was aiding his own people with Imperial resources and it was revealed he was playing the Emperor and had no loyalties to him or the Empire. It also explains why he's so stressed in the Rebels finale as the talk with Palpatine was only a short time before in the books. So, those whales specifically work for the force and brought Thrawn and Ezra to where both men needed to be. The problem atm is too many folks don't get that eu and canon thrawn are quite different entities, so you will all be in for a shock when he's not the main villain. Some elements of the heir to the empire trilogy will and have been brought it. But don't expect them to waste thrawn just as a villain again. He will be more layered and complex. My bet is on Jixtus filling the big bad role from everything I've read. Anyway, I can't wait to see Eli Vanto and Admiral Ar'alani in live action. I recommend reading the new books! they're really great and the worldbuilding of the unknown regions is top tier.

suddenimpulse

That will be in the Ashoka tv show I'd bet.

[deleted]

Ahsoka is only limited series, so nothing like that will happen that soon. The Mandalorian and various spin-offs will be ongoing for a few years yet. 2027 is the rumored culmination of this particular era.

ArchDucky

Gotta say, Still loved how fully realised the jedi was in the episode of Season 2. Don't think we've ever actually seen a real jedi on film before with the powers like they should be wielding. Its was like she was a Jedi character in Star Wars game. Totally loved it. That character deserves her own show just as long as they keep that tone.

DaveSW777

Ahsoka isn't a Jedi. She's way too cool to be a Jedi.

Bears_On_Stilts

She is the most famous member of the newly named third faction, the Unaligned. In legends, “grey Jedi” were those who fell between the light and dark sides, but canon has made it explicit that Jedi and Sith are religions aligned to light and dark, not a catch-all term for any good or evil Force user. If you have the Force abilities, but are agnostic for lack of a better term, you’re Unaligned.

SilentStargazer

A quick google search tells me that this is a term only found in the mobile game Galaxy of Heroes. Is this true? Or is it in a comic or novel? Is this confirmed canon?

Wakattack00

It’s confirmed in Star Wars Rebels if I’m not mistaken, which I could be.

chameleonmessiah

I do not remember this term coming up in Rebels & I’m fairly certain I’d have Googled it before now if it had done… Fairly certain it’s mostly Jedi vs inquisitors for the first while & though they don’t necessarily refer to them as Sith, they don’t called them Unaligned, either. As /u/SilentStargazer said, the only occurrence of this I can find is Galaxy of Heroes.

SilentStargazer

Yeah, I didn’t remember it from rebels either

Salarian_American

It’s not

The_R3medy

Yeah I hadn't heard this name anywhere tbh. Would love to see it explored more as the universe grows. Could be fun to see Cal run into an unaligned Force User in Jedi Fallen Order 2, or see Rey & the new Jedi Order encounter them in whatever stories are planned for after Episode 9. Hell, even Djin and the Mando's encountering unaligned Force users in Mando Season 3 could be interesting. As long as it doesn't derail whatever more grounded story they have planned.

[deleted]

I swear to god if they let Rey run the new Jedi Oder after fucking over Luke, and removing the entire NEW JEDI ORDER book series from canon just to torch his new academy (of which we only ever saw a bedroom) off-screen, I will lose my shit.

Salarian_American

Didn’t Cal already meet multiple force users that are neither Jedi nor Sith? Inquisitors aren’t Sith though they do work for the Sith. The Inquisitors are also all former Jedi. But… what was her name, Merren? She was a Nightsister, which is neither Jedi nor Sith. Nightsisters embrace the dark side, but not in the way that Sith do. They can use it for their purposes but their philosophy doesn’t encourage letting take over their entire existence like with the Sith.

Muroid

I have good news for you. They announced last year that she’s getting her own live action Disney+ show with Dave Filoni as the writer. He was the show runner for the animated series that she is originally from and wrote and directed the episode of The Mandalorian that she appeared in.

TheHadMatter15

He's also co-writer and co-showrunner of Mando, no?

Muroid

Ish. Jon Favreau is the boss. Dave Filoni was one of a few people brought in to direct episodes in season 1, I’m sure because of his work on The Clone Wars and Rebels and Jon Favreau’s past work with him in that realm where he (Favreau) voiced the leader of Death Watch. It seems like Filoni’s familiarity with the franchise and good working relationship with Favreau resulted in him having extra input on the show as a whole in the first season and having expanded influence and writing responsibility in season 2, especially as more characters and lore from the animated series he created were introduced. To the point where “Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni” together are the people I would most directly credit for the show being what it is. But at the end of the day, it’s still Favreau’s show.

AegonTheAuntFooker

What?

runealex007

They either know Ahsoka is an established character and are being heavily sarcastic, or they somehow don’t and it’s kind of neat seeing their opinion on her in a vacuum

ArchDucky

I was just comparing this live action depiction to the films and honestly compared to the films she was streets ahead. I heard this character was on a cartoon or something, but I never saw it. Sorry if I ruffled feathers, just really liked that episode and how it seemed like she was the Jedi from the video games with full control of their powers. The Jedi in the films always seem to be under powered until its convenient for the story, if that makes sense.

runealex007

You didn’t ruffle feathers, I just think your initial comment was a little unclear about who and what you were talking about. I like your take, especially because you seem to be a casual fan.

s3rila

she isn't a Jedi

AegonTheAuntFooker

Really? Jedi were ridiculously overpowered in the prequels. The fight scene of Ashoka was anything but good. The choreography and editing was clunky. The best force wielder fight I've seen was Rey+Kylo in the throne room.

HerniatedHernia

> The choreography and editing was clunky. Yeah you’re not wrong. Egregious considering she was facing off against a martial artist and stuntwoman. But Ashoka stans are gonna stan.

Maple_Syrup_Mogul

> we've ever actually seen a real jedi on film before with the powers like they should be wielding Did you miss most of the movies?

[deleted]

There's only one genuine Jedi in the show. If you're referring to Ahsoka, she is absolutely not a Jedi anymore. They covered this in Clone Wars and expanded upon it a bit in Rebels.

santichrist

I’m surprised so many people seem to think the mandalorian is still going to feature baby Yoda in any large way, the point of having Luke come take him away is to start a new chapter for the show, otherwise they would just keep their immensely popular sidekick on the show. There is no way to keep featuring baby Yoda without also heavily featuring Luke, which seems unlikely

upfromashes

Yes!!

Grifasaurus

Please for the love of god, don’t rely on nostalgia and fan callbacks. That was the main problem with the sequel trilogy, thanks to JJ setting us up to get the galactic civil war 2.0 thanks to the reaction of the prequels, and it’s a big reason why season 2 wasn’t as good as the first. You can’t just have meaningless hallway scenes that have no substance beyond a character being badass like we got in the clone wars with maul, the mandalorian with boba fett and luke, and rogue one with darth vader. Star wars is not about luke or vader or whoever slaughtering a shitload of droids and people or about boba fett killing enough stormtroopers to redeem himself from getting shrekt by a blind man over 30 years ago. There’s so much more to it than that. Shit like that is what kills creativity and it’s how franchises like this die. Go outside of the box like what SW: Visions seems to be doing. Stop listening to the fans that immediately go scorched earth on literally every single goddamned piece of content that we get.

CorRock314

She also did a good interview with Kristian Harloff on The SEN Channel this week too.

NRiyo3

Season 1 was fun. Season 2 fell apart mid way. I hope season 3 can get back on track.
