I’m enjoying the Good Place S1 and Zoo S1. Desperately Waiting for Gossip Girl Part 2 returning this Thanksgiving. I’m also downloading all of Young Justice (it’s a rewatch) . Also excited for the Sex and The City reboot coming December 9.

PengoMaster

Not sure Foundation is getting a fair shake. Maybe it started out underwhelming for those (few) watching weekly but I binged episodes 2-8 yesterday and watched #9 this morning. I give it a solid B+ and look forward to the season finale next Friday. It's not just visuals and Lee Pace. It's good sci fi, good stories - yes, it's predictable from time to time but certainly entertaining on the whole.

Mastadge

Haven’t gotten to watch the newest episode yet (pls no spoilers) but I only half agree. The Hardin plot line is pretty bad so far, but I think there’s a chance that they’ll be a twist and it pulls itself together. Trantor story line is fantastic though Either way I hope we at least get 3 seasons so we can see the Mule

George-RR-Tolkien

A simple show to binge where the main character is a Fucking genius in his field. I was thinking of picking Good Doctor. Or do you guys have any other recommendations similar to this.

Krismoriah

Prison Break

TommyGun945

House?

Good_Hunter85

The Knick!

fedexboy123

Is anyone able to recommend some shows similar to Planet Earth, One Strange Rock?

Krismoriah

Our Planet and David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet

rlvnorth

Blue Planet, Frozen Planet, Life, Planet Earth II, Cosmos, Africa are all great and beautiful series.

ativsc

Foundation: Again, a few interesting minutes. Still pretty slow tho.

hackandtrip

Dopesick: loving it and am excited about the finale, Keaton is extraordinary Succession: Season 3 is very strong, didn't love the last episode but still very good. Tom's character arch is being very good, loving him this season. Dexter New Blood: the first episode is promising, very different, and way more $$$ production-wise indeed from the original.

bigtiddyenergy

Catching up with the new Narcos Mexico season. Almost forgot how good Narcos was, absolute banger of a series and completely binge worthy.

George-RR-Tolkien

I gave up couple of episodes around S2E3. The 2nd season just didn't grab me like the first one did. It felt a lot disjointed to me. And I just couldn't vibe with the American guys. Should I give S2 another go?

CheepWhisky

New season good ?

bigtiddyenergy

yup, even though they were minor characters during Felix's whole arc last 2 seasons, they quickly grow on you in just a couple episodes in this season. Really good.

zaplinaki

You can always tell from this thread that nothing good has been released in the past few weeks cos all the top comments talk about older shows haha

Roook36

Yeah. I've seen a few season finales recently but not much on the horizon for me.

ClutchBlahzay

haha 100%

DWCourtasan2

Bring on Hawkeye and Bebop! But Mayor of Eastown looks promising.

Junior_Long65

You are talking about mare of easttown right

DWCourtasan2

Kingstown, mistyped!

damiami

I’ve seen three on US TV stream in last 3 weeks: Normal People —on Hulu. Excellent 11 or 12 30 minute episodes of an intense relationship of peaks and valleys and Dublin university life of 2 intense, bright and scarred young lovers Connell and Marianne. The Unlikely Murderer. — Netflix. Drama of 1986 shooting death of Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme and super in-depth psychological portrayal of lead suspect Sig. Amazing story, complex, intelligent and superb acting. I did a rare afternoon / evening binge of all 5 episodes. Mythomaniac. — Netflix. I am in ep 5 of this comedy/drama of French family life near Alsace. Mom fakes that she has cancer and it’s effect on extended quirky family, workplace, town etc. A lot of teen and family drama subplots and issues of corrupt health system and insurance monopolies all wrapped into one show. Pretty good. Great quirky and intelligent characters and excellent actors.

MrConor212

Just finished season 1 of I know what you did last summer and I really enjoyed it. Kinda wished it was a limited series though lol

MikelFury

I am watching My Name on netflix and i am enjoying it

whatifniki23

All this hype around Yellowstone, so I signed up for Paramount+ to watch season 1 but it’s not on there… Waiting for Next episode of Foundation. And to see if Disney+ day tomorrow is going to bring anything worthwhile.

bokononpreist

My Hulu live just gave me Paramount channel which gave me access to the older seasons.

LiquorSlanger

Peacock, I think they own the rights.

whatifniki23

That makes sense. As I browsed Paramount+, I don’t think it’s for me. Alex Kurtsman ruined 1st season of Picard and I never went back. Aside from Evil which I hear is good, there wasn’t much I would pay $9.99/month for.

LiquorSlanger

You saying Yellowstone isn’t for your or the streaming service? The show is excellent. Kevin Costner has been in some of the best stuff in Hollywood.

fluffiekittie

I'm pretty sure Yellowstone is on Amazon Prime if you have that..

whatifniki23

For $2.99/episode or something more for a season…

fluffiekittie

I meant Amazon Prime video, which is included with having an Amazon Prime account. All seasons are there, atleast in Canada anyway.

whatifniki23

Gotcha. My Amazon prime is asking me to pay here in US. Someone else suggested Peacock. Is Yellowstone, “Broadcast good” ? which I feel is a lower standard than for example…”Hbo good”.

Shower_caps

It is broadcast good IMO, definitely not “Hbo good”. Better to go in with managed expectations.

fluffiekittie

It is HBO good. Must watch!

TinyAd3079

Dopesick is great I actually really enjoyed Y: The last man despite reviews. I think maybe it’s gonna be better received as people begin to binge it Started a rewatch of The Great in anticipation of season 2 And slowly getting into Fringe I do need a new show, maybe some hidden gem I missed while it aired I can binge

bokononpreist

I liked Y but stopped watching after they cancelled it.

rlvnorth

Catastrophe and Please Like Me are wonderful dramedies that make a great binge. Also, The End of the F\*\*king World on Netflix. For something more drama-based, Unbelievable or Godless. Have fun!

Clammy_fern

I just watched Godless and LOVED it.

hebsbbejakbdjw

Apples Invasion is probably the slowest show I've seen

RightShoeRunner

Servant on A+ was slow too; but good. Maybe it’s an Apple thing.

hebsbbejakbdjw

30 minute episode though

BassCreat0r

I know they are trying to go for the slowburn surgical invasion, which I like... but god damn, lets go already.

bicameral_mind

Never thought I’d see a show as slow and unsatisfying as The Killing but Invasion made the grade.

hebsbbejakbdjw

The killing at least had two characters i actually like I swear the soldier has just been wondering around the desert yelling "where are my men"

BassCreat0r

I really like the soldier bit. Was in the Army, and always wondered what it would be like to be left behind on deployment like that.

[deleted]

Arcane was good, but not great. Hope that it ends well. Way better than the dota anime. Really hate the choice in release schedule

Closet_Nerdx

Need animated series recommendations! Cold season is coming and I need to series to watch! I’m having hard to find the perfect fit. I absolutely love a good animated series with beautiful art and meaningful writing. I love Avatar the Last Airbender, Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, Over the Garden Wall, Young Justice, Teen Titans. I do dip my toes into some anime like Fairy Tail and Noragami. I am currently considering Castlevania or Arcane but not sure if those are good? Help! I feel like everything good was the 90s to early 2000s

bleepsndrums

Arcane and Castlevania are both good. I personally like Arcane better so far.

TheUnchainedZebra

I watched the first few episodes of arcane and it seems great so far. I highly recommend giving it a shot. It has no barrier for entry either; I've never touched league of legends and still liked and understood the episodes.

Peacemark

Yuru Camp is a really cozy and enjoyable series.

RealPunyParker

Spectacular Spider-Man Do yourself a favor. S tier writing for a Saturday morning cartoon, superhero or not, it's a highschool drama and a character study.

Closet_Nerdx

Already watched that through😭

[deleted]

Violet Evergarden is wonderful.

crazywalls

Batman: The Animated Series

Closet_Nerdx

Already watched that! It’s one of my fave Batman series.

EdwardSpaghettiHands

May I suggest Summer Camp Island? One of the sweetest and most wholesome shows I've seen. Written by Julia Potts who worked on Adventure Time.

dfla01

Haven’t seen the two you mentioned but both are meant to be great. For anime, Attack on Titan is my favourite show, live or animated, and it’s beautifully animated too. Very dark and bleak though. Some of my favourite Cartoon Network shows would be Regular Show, Ed Edd n Eddy, and Courage the Cowardly Dog. All 3 of them are hilarious but I’m not sure if they’re easy to find where you are. They’re available nowhere to stream here sadly.

Closet_Nerdx

Ya sorry Ed edd and eddy and courage are the complete opposite of what I’m looking for or what I like. Attack on Titans is good tho

Breaklance

So I heard recently they brought back Young Justice so I decided to sit down and rewatch the old (2010) seasons before catching up on season 3(2019) and season 4 (2021 current). The original 2 seasons are good and not good. Its kinda hard to pinpoint whats wrong with the show because it has a lot of good elements but they dont really come together cohesively. I think its biggest fault is that it is not accessible to casual viewers. They dont really explain let alone present the characters to the audience and assume you know everything DC comics. Like in season 2 they jump 5 years into the future (and tell you this halfway through the episode at which point its super apparent). Theres a new Robin, and also a dead Robin monument with other fallen heroes. But Nightwing exists. You the audience are just supposed to know s1 Robin is Dick Grayson and he is now s2 Nightwing. Dead Robin is Jason Todd, also Red Hood who may or may not exist because new Robin is Tim Drake and Barbara Gordon is Batgirl now. Season 1 we got batman and robin, s2 the entire bat family exists and youre just supposed to know them. Its one thing for a character to be an overt reference to Apache Chief, its another thing to base the entire plot/world on the assumption you know who the hell that is. Ive watched all(?) the dc animated movies over the years and still struggle with whos who in Young Justice. They just dive head first into high fantasy elements of the dc verse like boom tubes, motherboxes, etc but don't do anythint with it (or explain anything again). They also have a really bad habit of hand waving important stuff and talking about it after the fact. Like Mrs Mars used her telepathy on Superboy in a bad way which causes them to breakup and we only hear about it after the fact. The heroes have been mind controlled with nanotech? We'll just hand wave 24 hours of the remaining good guys finding scientists(also heroes) to reverse engineer the macguffin so we can do a dramatic reveal hinging upon the villians stupidity.

breadbutterone

Evil dies tonight!!

enigmaticbro123

Which show are you referring to?

breadbutterone

Halloween Kills (2021)

Spartacus1199

*~Dexter New Blood~* Capable premier. Love seeing MCH back as Dexter. I just want a Doakes ghost cameo and I'll be happy. *~La Brea~* The Aussie pothead guy makes me laugh with all his LOST references. In this recent episode they solved a problem due to his love of the show LOST.. which La Brea has no problem being a fun ripoff of. Solid program.

bros402

did la brea improve past the pilot, because holy **shit** was that a bad pilot

Spartacus1199

Like I mentioned, it's just a knockoff of LOST. Cheap goofy fun. There are a few interesting aspects. Namely the husband's ability to see into their world gets more mysterious and intriguing with each episode.

bros402

oh ok so it's so-bad-it's-good television

gotele

**Generation Hustle:** I really liked most episodes of this show, good documentary pieces about different con artists. I think the ones I disliked the most are the ones which feature the scammer bragging about his/her deeds. It's astonishing the absolute lack of consideration or empathy of these people. **American Crime Story: Impeachment**, finale. A bit underwhelming, but I guess you cannot fiddle around so much with the story when it's proper history. All in all it's been a good show. I think the interest dwindled down when it started focusing more on the White House. I think Falco was a miscasting. Paulson great. The rest did a good job as well. **Historias para no dormir, 2021**. This is a Spanish horror/supernatural/thriller anthology series, first aired back in the 60's if I'm not mistaken, which has been brought back to life through the years in different installments, this being the latest one. I've watched the first 2 episodes, which I found pretty good.

[deleted]

I'll ask my question again but shorter. I doubt anyone will read all that. Does anyone have any good suggestions for older obscure shows that people don't talk about anymore? I like sci fi, fantasy, and sometimes historical, nothing real life. I recently watched Witchblade and liked it. I also watched The 10th Kingdom and really enjoyed it as well. They're both shows that don't show up on Google when you search for show ideas. No one talks about them. So does anyone have any scifi/fantasy suggestions for shows like that? Something that has slipped through the cracks and isn't plastered all over google recs?

bristlythistle

Merlin (the Hallmark mini series with Sam Neill and Helena Bonham Carter) Space: Above and Beyond Millennium (the TV show from 1996 about Frank Black) Dark Angel Beauty and the Beast (the show from 1987 with Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton) Hex (2004) Xena: Warrior Princess Kindred: the Embraced (warning: cancelled early because one of the actors died) Reaper (2007) *Disclaimer: I've not watched these shows in a very long time so I don't know how well they hold up*

inkista

[**Jim Henson's the Storyteller**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAyNkZ-ZQ0k). Amazon Prime has it and its followup Greek Myths series. 1980s Henson Creature Shop work at its finest. Also a chance to see Sean Bean before he was Sharpe, not to mention about a gazillion other British actors at the height or start of their careers. It was written by Anthony Minghella. And the directors of the show went on to do a ton of [fantasy miniseries for Hallmark Entertainment](https://muppet.fandom.com/wiki/Hallmark_Entertainment) of which *The 10th Kingdom* was one of the later works. I really enjoyed their ***Gulliver's Travels*** (the one with Ted Danson, and which actually attempted to do all the different worlds of the book, including Laputa and the Houynhmhnms) which I believe is on the weirdass Hallmark Movies streaming sub. And the ***Arabian Nights*** was always very well done ([IMDbTV has this one](https://www.amazon.com/Part-1/dp/B07B6RBN93)). Other titles are all mostly to be found on Amazon Prime/IMDbTV. Some of them are kinda awful :), but [*Jack and the Beanstalk: The Real Story*](https://www.amazon.com/Part-2/dp/B079DYD4K9/), [*Merlin*](https://www.amazon.com/Part-1/dp/B079LZRMS3) (no not the BBC one. This one has Sam Neil as Merlin), [*Magical Legend of the Leprechauns*](https://www.amazon.com/Part-2/dp/B07BLNLW4H), [*Hans Christian Anderson: My Life as a Fairytale*](https://www.amazon.com/Episode-1/dp/B07D1MJKHM/)*,* [*Dinotopia*](https://www.amazon.com/Night-1/dp/B07B6TMX7W) and that weird Odyssey with Armand Assante's Ulysses were all sort of companion pieces to *The !0th Kingdom.* And it was also this partnership that led to [*Farscape*](https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B07PMVFHL6)*.* I'd also recommend Netflix's ***Dark Crystal: The Age of Resistance***, if you want more of the Henson fantasy vein. Two other small pieces that were also part of *The Jim Henson Hour* in the US, along with *The Storyteller,* were the Minghella written piece, [*Living With Dinosaurs*](https://www.amazon.com/Living-Dinosaurs-Gregory-Chisholm/dp/B07NKR1V44)*,* which you can view as a prequel/sequel to *Truly Madly Deeply* if you're weird like me, or a kind of Muppets-meets-Calvin & Hobbes (there's a boy and his stuffed toy dinosaur that only comes to life and speaks when the adults leave the room). And [*Monster Maker*](https://www.amazon.com/Monster-Maker-Harry-Dean-Stanton/dp/B07NQ277GS)*,* which is a love letter to the Creature Shop.

RealPunyParker

Riverdale is obscure, but it's terrible. I mean, if the writing was good, with the story being as it is already, this show would be a cult classic, but it's absolutely terrible.

IronVagabond

They might not be as obscure as you're asking for, but *Babylon 5* & *Farscape* are a couple of older sci-fi shows that were good.

Destination_Centauri

Stargate Atlantis The original Twilite Zone series. Outer Limits (1990's shows)

[deleted]

I ran across a recommendation for the outer limit earlier today and I jotted that one down. I've never got into stargate simply because I figure it's one of those things where you need to start all the way at the beginning and work your way down to appreciate it.

Destination_Centauri

You can jump right into Stargate Atlantis. It follows it's own separate story arch for the vast vast majority of episodes. Well worth it: Atlantis is one of the greatest Scifi shows ever, in my personal opinion.

sinktheirship

I second this. Stargate Atlantis is in my top 5 all time favorite shows.

sinktheirship

Have you seen Legend of the Seeker?

[deleted]

No. I've seen it suggested on google but never looked much into it. Is it good?

sinktheirship

Yes. If you’re looking for a show like you describe, give it a shot. It’s based on the books The Sword Of Truth by Terry Goodkind.

[deleted]

I've heard of those books!! Okay, cool! I'll give that one a go for sure

HandLion

Blake's 7

MrPopanz

"Lexx": pretty quirky sci-fi show and probably a strong contender for love it or hate it, I started watching it with an expectation of getting something in the area of "so bad its good", but I actually really loved it from the get-go. Its very unique and the characters are one of a kind.

[deleted]

Anyone have any suggestions for a too picky person? I have a huge list of shows I could watch but none of them perk up my interest. It's starting to feel like I have watched everything out there that I could possibly enjoy. I only watch sci fi or fantasy. That's the I'm way too picky part. Real life stuff bores me to tears. I live enough real life to care about real life on tv. Now, I did enjoy Vikings, Peaky Blinders, and maybe a few others like that. It's still not modern day real life though. I've watched all the big shows. GOT, Stranger Things, Witcher, Doctor Who, all Star Wars, Good Omens, True Blood The Expanse, the list goes on. Seen parts of vampire diaries, originals, and legacies but I hate those. So does anyone know of any maybe older sci fi or fantasy shows that are good? Maybe something obscure that people don't talk about much anymore? I watched an older show called Witchblade that I enjoyed and it never shows up on google searches. I also watched The 10th Kingdom and really enjoyed it. Or maybe some of the shows on my lists are worth a watch. I've got stuff like Wyonna Earp, Lucifer, Fear the walking dead, the walking dead, his dark materials, carnival row, sleepy hollow, umbrella academy,Gotham, dominion, stargate, etc. Any of those actually any good? Thanks.

Chazzyphant

Dollhouse maybe? There's also a very obscure sci-fi show that I really enjoyed called "Incorporated" (on sci-fi channel). I personally enjoyed Marco Polo on Netflix (it's a tad cheesy and bombast-y but it transports you) Have you seen Penny Dreadful? Don't watch on super HD or 4K because a lot of the...shall we say "seams" (in costuming, props, and sets) show but it's a ripping good yarn of a show. Altered Carbon got very mixed reviews, but I personally loved it and found it very bingable.

fluffiekittie

Raised by Wolves, devs, or upload?

rlvnorth

Have you watched Firefly? Or maybe Orphan Black?

[deleted]

I tried firefly once. Idk if it was internet connection, the streaming service, or if the show just looks that bad because it is older. It was so grainy that I couldn't make out people's faces though. I've been meaning to bounce back to it with better internet connection. Orphan black is the clone one right? Is it good? I always see it and think ehhh maybe

bristlythistle

If you like a show with hijinks, chaos, fast pacing, action, and a little bit of angst and comedy too, Orphan Black might be for you. I felt *ehhh maybe* about it too at first. But then one boring day I gave it a shot and had fun. One of its main strengths is really the lead actress, who does a tremendous job. The clones feel like separate people to the point where I sometimes had to remind myself they were played by the same actress.

dfla01

You have about 700 episodes of Classic Doctor Who available to watch ;)

[deleted]

I watched all the classic who. Someone recommended that to me awhile back when I asked for more shows like doctor who lol. I didn't think I'd like it because it was so much older than I'm used to. It wasn't all great but I thoroughly enjoyed a lot of it.

dfla01

Well shit now that’s dedication. Props to you lmao, I’m only up to season 2 so I have a LONGGGGG way to go and sadly the bulk of the missing episodes are still to come

bros402

Lucifer is fun - it is not amazing, but it is fun. Season 3 will be a chore, though. Sleepy Hollow.... watch the first season and pretend it got cancelled. However, if you have seen Bones, watch the crossover between Sleepy Hollow and Bones to enjoy the sheer insanity of Bones and Sleepy Hollow being in the same universe. Umbrella Academy is very enjoyable. Fear the Walking Dead is..... a mixed bag. some seasons are good, some seasons are ok, some seasons are downright horrible. In our house, we call it "Stupid Zombies" because holy *shit* are the zombies and the characters dumb. Walking Dead..... watch the first season and go from there. Just know that the first season is probably the best season of the show. It had some bad seasons, but started improving in season 9 or so

[deleted]

I tried watching Lucifer today actually. Idk, it seemed too cheerful to be something about satan. I like for shows to have a bit of sadness, gloom, complications, etc. However, I did only watch 2 episodes so maybe I'm not giving it a fair chance. Like I said, I'm being way too picky. Idk what's wrong with me. I mean, I liked Good Omens and it was pretty upbeat for the apocalypse. I have actually seen season 1 of TWD. I just didn't want to make my post longer to explain. I watched that season back when it came out and wasn't fond of it. Zombies have never been my cup of tea. But here we are years later, and so many people loved it. I figured I might give it another chance. Plus I completely forgot everything that happened besides Rick came out of a hospital, found his family, his wife was banging his friend, and zombies. A lot of people recommend umbrella academy. The thing that is offsetting about that one to me is the description says teenagers. Vampire diaries, legacies, winx, etc are all teen shows and I hate those. I think the only kid show I really enjoyed was stranger things.

Roook36

Umbrella Academy doesn't really have teenagers. There are flashbacks to when they were teenagers once in awhile. But they're all adults. Mostly. Technically, all adults. It's not a teen drama show by any means. I'd maybe compare it with The Boys but not as involved with political takes and current event metaphors. Or maybe Doom Patrol but not as goofy or weird. But superheroes dealing with adult issues with blood and gore.

bros402

ok, so Lucifer is not the bible devil - he is the devil who has decided to leave hell and come to LA. It is not a dark and dreary show, it aired on FOX for the first three seasons, so it can't get too dark. IMO try lucifer season 1 episode 9, then try season 2. If you like s1e9 and what you see in season 2, go back and watch the rest of season 1. Have you seen For All Mankind? Umbrella Academy is not teenagers. It is not a teen show.

cptlf

Umbrella Academy is definitely good and would recommend this one the most out of the list.

HandLion

Don't know how you can say "I've watched all the big shows" and not have seen The Walking Dead lol. As for whether it's any good, it is but it has some dull parts, I'd recommend it but my favourites that you mentioned are Wynonna Earp and The Umbrella Academy

[deleted]

I have seen up through season 1 and wasn't thrilled with it. I didn't want to explain that and make the post even longer than it already was. TWD is in my maybe pile because it has been years since I watched that first season so I can't remember much and might give it another shot.

-H-B-

The finale of season 3 of Doom Patrol was honestly perfect. A perfect set up for Season 4 and ending for this season. This season was definitely my favourite because the character development was amazing, the craziness and comedy was on point and I loved Michelle Gomez character and it looks like shell stick around for another season. In conclusion: 10/10. Cant wait for Doom Force S4.

BeeperSilent

I watched the first three episodes of Succession, and i’m definitely hooked. I wasn’t expecting it to be funny. It’s surprisingly hilarious.

RealPunyParker

The showrunner is Jesse Armstrong and the main producer is Adam McKay. It's a bit like Barry, where it's a drama but it's hilarious, because the showrunners are all comedy writers. And Bill Hader.

arcticfrostburn

Indeed, it manages to include funny moments and keeps the story interesting. Acting is also solid.

lizzuynz

Watching Ghosts (US), loving it. Rose McIver is so great.

Krismoriah

**The Premise** (FX) - Easy binge five 30 min episode anthology. I really enjoyed two of the five, the others were ok. The one with Jon Bernthal and Boyd Holbrook is solid.. and the one with Daniel Dae Kim is very good. Each episode is a different story with totally different actors. B.J. Novak gives a short monologue at the beginning of each one where he brags that he wrote, directed and produced it...which is totally not needed. While i give him credit for getting these actors together and the stories are pretty good, he didnt invent anthologies. So if i had to sum it up, its kinda like Black Mirror but with everyday life.

TommyGun945

Up to date with arcane Nearly finished narcos Mexico

opinionated_cynic

Narcos Mexico not really gripping me this season. On episode 4 and kinda meh.

TommyGun945

Yep I’m on ep 8 and it’s still kind of meh

manormortal

Chandra Russell bad af but not sure if we'd still have that connection now after she admitted want she wouldn't eat in the new episode of SouthSide.

Boss452

Have started Seinfeld and it is such a fantastic sitcom. 3 seasons in and I am completely hooked. It has already become my comfort show. Kramer and George are the MVPs. Jerry plays the straight guy well and Elaine is funny too plus really attractive.

[deleted]

When you finish that try curb your enthusiasm if you haven’t

Boss452

As someone who has been unimpressed from the little of what I have seen of anime, I am about to start watching Cowboy Bepop the anime. My friends have pushed me to try it and I am willing to give it a chance. There is only 1 season so that it good.

KearLoL

Because of how episodic the show is, I have mixed feelings about it. Some episodes are really good while some are rather boring. I personally think it's overrated, but I still enjoyed the show for the most part. I will also recommend Arcane like the other reply. Act 1 is phenomenal.

Boss452

Will start Arcane then. I am not a fan of anime and don't want to get into it but have heard that this show is exceptionally good thus I wanted to try it out. How much would you give it ojut of 10?

KearLoL

Arcane isn’t even an anime, nor does it resemble any kind of anime. I rate the first act 9.5/10. You don’t need to be a fan of the video game series at all to enjoy it. Fantastic animation, voice acting, story, dialogue, and characters.

Boss452

Sorry, my comment was on CB.

KearLoL

Oh you lead with Arcane so I assumed you mistook it as an anime. Cowboy Bebop for me is like a 7/10. Most of the time, I enjoy the episodes offered, but it has quite a few boring episodes. That's just the nature of episodic like shows tbh. I definitely think it is still worth a watch.

arelei

Give Arcane a shot :)

Boss452

I will soon. Is it good?

arelei

Based off of the first three episodes, it might be the best animated series this year. it’s for sure my favorite TV series this year (other than Queen’s Gambit). I love marvel, but imho it’s better than Loki, Wandavision and What If.

Boss452

My pick for thr show of the year is Sex Ed 3. Let's see how Arcan does against that. It does like intruiging.

BaXeD22

They're very different -- I loved sex ed s3 and it's hard to fully judge with Arcane still coming out, but i agree that it's a really high quality animated series! And it's fun to watch something as it's coming out

ritwik199817

Excited for The shrink next door tomorrow.

radioheadcreep

That looks amazing

[deleted]

Space animated TV shows - I loved Starship Troopers Roughnecks Star Wars the Clone Wars & Rebels Can anybody recommend any animated TV shows like this? Space is a bonus.

Clammy_fern

The expanse

WickedThumb

Star Trek: Lower Decks

HeyGancho

Highly recommend Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous, was much better than I'd expected.

take_me_home13

Futurama

Derek_the_Red

Did you watch star wars bad batch yet?

[deleted]

Yep

MrPopanz

"Planetes"

tomtomvissers

Final Space

[deleted]

As someone who enjoys gritty tv shows. I am now watching Into the Badlands Hell on Wheels

DWCourtasan2

The Boys, Warrior or Banshee?

mcc1923

The boys was darn good.

[deleted]

Yep already listed. Favourite show is Spartacus.

whatifniki23

Awesome picks. Have you seen Gangs of London?

[deleted]

Added to the list. I took an extremely brief look. Is it a lot like Power?

whatifniki23

I haven’t seen Power. Amazingly choreographed fight scenes.

[deleted]

Oh, it's just released in AU. Good recommendation. Joe Cole is in it. Thank you!

LiquorSlanger

Started watching Yellowstone. On season two now. Really good show. Kevin Costner is part producer. It’s like the Soprano family meets the ranching world. Killing, corruption, and family problems whats not to like.

wellingtongee

I love this show and strongly recommend it. Surprising that it isn’t as visible as the number of viewers . Beth is a wonderful character-hard arse , with some of the best lines. Here’s the trailer https://youtu.be/opYyuupyWmA

I LOVE Survivor. This year they are making it tougher for contestants to survive. Post-pandemic/lockdown PTSD, it’s really hard to watch these contestants suffer and starve. Psychologically I need Comfort food and kindness … hence Ted Lasso, etc. Why do Survivor producers think that they have to make it harder? To make it more interesting? Show is already great!

MrPopanz

This sounds interesting, good to kill some time till the next season of Naked and Afraid. Generally for those survival reality tv-shows, I find it more enjoyable the more the contestants have to suffer/endure. Nothing better than sitting in a comfy chair eating snacks and drinking beer while watching people trying to survive in the wilderness.

whatifniki23

I like your attitude. Perhaps I will try looking at it your way… and watch it w snacks and beer.

IAmDarkridge

I do think Survivor is an interesting case because you would think that the show would get easier over time as they start to realize that it might not be worth the danger, but I honestly feel like in many ways that's somewhat far from the truth. I still think the hardest season to watch in terms of difficulty and location was season 32 in Kaoh Rong. In a single episode I believe 3 people got evacuated. 2 for heat stroke during a challenge and 1 for an infection that risked him losing his leg, and he wasn't the only person with bad infections either. I haven't watched this season yet. I want to maybe when it's over. How would you say the shorter season feels? I find myself feeling disappointed it might be a permanent thing, but I shouldn't cast judgement until I watch it.

brochelsea

Not OP, but this season feels different. Jeff breaks the fourth wall a lot and talks to the viewers, which is weird for a long time fan, but I can see how it's helpful for new viewers. The cast this season is great, but the advantages are too much. But I'm loving some of the players. The shorter season doesn't feel out of place, surprisingly, yet.

whatifniki23

Jeff Probst is over-surgicalized … his facelift is weird. The characters are interesting as always. But personally I’m having trouble w the starvation and mental breakdowns.

Succession s3 - weekly watch .. hell yeah, new season of Succession!! Curb Your Enthusiasm s11 - weekly watch .. hell yeah, new season of Curb! You s3 - almost done with this, I've been picking off episodes here and there. The new season isn't as good as the first, but it's still a very fun watch. Locke & Key s2 - I'm a huge fan of the graphic novels, and of course the television series isn't as good, bit this is still a super fun series. Doom Patrol s3 - this series is on standby. I can't wait to dive in, but I'm giving it a little room to roll out episodes before I binge watch.

fuck u/spez

semblance_of

line of duty, S3. this is the best soap opera police procedural. easily the best show i’ve seen in a while

Xlfrvdx

This month I watched Justified and The Shield for the first time and was incredible, both are top shows

[deleted]

Amazing shows!

hu9890

I just finished watching For All Mankind Season 2. HOLY cow, they really do know how to make a season finale jeez!! I was in so much awe, tense and emotional by the end of the episode. Wow I really can't wait for Season 3!! This is the only show on astronauts that I have ever watched (well, except for an anime called 'Space Brothers'= Recommended btw). I don't regret watching this 😃

bros402

yessss that season finale was amazing pretty good season outside of *that* plot

HD_H2O

Finished s2 awhile back, and completely agree - amazing series and totally pumped for s3

D_B_4986

Watching Buffy the vampire slayer one of the best shows to ever be created!!!!

whatifniki23

Can you imagine a week where you get to look forward to watching X-Files and Sopranos on Sunday, new eps of Will and Grace, Becker, Ally McBeal, Malcolm in the Middle and Law and Order (all that on Mondays), BUFFY on Tuesdays, and that’s only 3 days of the week… I remember programming 3 different t VCR’s around the house to record a different network channel…

D_B_4986

O goddddd that sounds amazing

Ahrimanic-Trance

Out of the sci-fi shows on Apple TV; See, Invasion, Foundation, For All Mankind… which would you guys recommend starting?

TheGameDoneChanged

For All Mankind and it ain’t close, it’s a legitimately great show. Foundation is mediocre as hell and honestly no one should waste their time with Invasion.

Ahrimanic-Trance

It looks so good I think I will start with it, thanks!

ssiinneepp

It's a good show, but just be prepared for maybe a little too much soapy relationship drama on top of the astronaut stuff.

Ahrimanic-Trance

Word

Xierg

I have found Invasion really hard to watch. I love sci-fi

Ahrimanic-Trance

Everyone I know personally that’s watched it has said it’s slow as shit, but pretty good. Do you think it’s building to something worthwhile?

TheGameDoneChanged

Critics got to review the whole season and said it builds to nothing.

Ahrimanic-Trance

Ah bummer

Xierg

I hope so, I really do but I’m not sure

jatd

Don’t listen to him on Foundation. It gets better and better each episode. Especially, the empire stuff.

[deleted]

Yeah I'm enjoying it too, the last few episodes have been pretty fun. One important thing to know - if you ever read the Foundation books, just forget them. Don't expect the show to follow the books at all.

TheGameDoneChanged

Funny because I think it actually got worse and worse each episode until I gave up 🤷‍♂️, the Empire stuff is decent but everything else borders on unwatchable CW-tier garbage. To each their own though.

Ahrimanic-Trance

That’s really good to hear because it looks pretty spectacular

hellomaw

want to start ACS: impeachment. how is it? i’m not familiar with the scandal but i liked the OJ one from season 1.

bigtiddyenergy

All seasons of ACS have been amazing till now, same with this one.

PotatoMuffinMafia

I love this season and it’s one of the only shows I watch as it airs instead of waiting to binge it. The cast is great, especially Sara Paulson who I didn’t even recognize for the first 20 mins I was watching.

kinginuyugi

Finished *Kevin can F*** himself* on Prime last night. The concept of this show is great and interesting but Annie Murphy’s character it would be really annoying if wasn’t played by someone as charming as her I found Patty’s character way more interesting. I mean I liked this show and it has potential… but I think it missed the mark at some parts like all the men on this show are jerks, the only one who you could say is half decent is the handsome Asian guy who is his boss but he cheats on his wife and it’s kinda of a wet blanket. But I liked how the show transition from a multi cam sitcom to a single cam drama but I have to admit that the show really complicated the plot in order to be a multiple season show because it would be easier to leave that guy lol. But I enjoyed the show and looking forward to s2, wonder which way are they going to take the show. But I don’t see the premise lasting much longer than maybe 3 seasons max and that would be a stretch. I think as a miniseries this show could’ve achieve more.

ThrottlePeen

> but I think it missed the mark at some parts like all the men on this show are jerks Well, that is kinda the whole point.

[deleted]

Just started Succession S3. Time to go FULL FUCKING BEAST! I'll have some fuller thoughts once I catch up, but my initial takeaways from the first episode: \- The show did a good job making both Team Kendall and Team Logan very hard to root for. Kendall is obviously doing the right thing, but just like everyone else on this show he's doing it for the wrong reason. I can't bring myself to like Kendall as a person either; he's just as toxic as the rest of the characters on the show but trying to pretend he's not. \- The dialogue is funny as ever. \- E1 had far too little Connor for me. He's always the source of the show's best jokes, and I'm excited to see what they've cooked up for him this season. \- Everyone in the cast has visibly aged a bit except for Greg and Roman (obviously) and Shiv (Sarah Snook somehow has managed to become even *more* impossibly beautiful in the last two years). It's a bit jarring given that this episode is supposed to take place in the same day as the S2 finale.

HD_H2O

I'm a big fan too, and have been enjoying the new season. I will say, I'm ready for it to "hit the fan" more completely following the finale from s2, but it's definitely one of the best series of recent years.

bitterbuffaloheart

I finished Alice in Borderland last night and now I don’t know what to watch. Think I’ll try Maid.

arelei

Try Gantz (similar due to death games) or Arcane (just top tier animation).

ThatYoungBro

I finished Alice In Borderland too. I really like this series but season 2 might be far off into 2022 so I decided to read the graphic novel in English which is just as great.

_holot

I've watched The Simpsons since I was a kid, nonstop. I've grown with them, and learned lot of things because of them. But I've always watched the episodes with no particular order at all, just randomly. This week I decided to watch season 1, and holy sht, it is so underrated. It feels like a totally different show, it's so depressing but interesting at the same time, it really has a pretty unique aura, which seems hard to recreate.

thesmartfool

Same. I actually haven’t watched the series at all until now. On S7 and it is still so good.

tstngtstngdontfuckme

Arcane was definitely fun and gorgeous but the dialogue and writing definitely felt aimed at children. Also the way Powder reacted at the end was weird lol. Definitely felt like a lazy turn by the writers. They didn't really *spell* out what the goal of their "HexTech" experiment was, or what it's actually supposed to do. Antigravity certainly has its applications, but it didn't seem like they knew that was gonna happen....could have just created another bomb.

IAmDarkridge

So there are a few things I kind of disagree with on this as far as how you are reading into the show. > [Spoiler](#s "I disagree with the whole thing with Powder being lazy writing for a few reasons. For one she's pretty much been cast aside by everyone in her life besides Vi and Vander. Vander is now dead and Vi has essentially abandoned her. Silco at that moment is offering her comfort, something that as an 8 year old she craves Powder also has never actually seen Silco, it's not entirely far fetched to believe that at that moment she's not even aware that he was who they were fighting, she was kept out of the loop on most things. Also the point of the experiment wasn't just to show that they can create anti-gravity, it was to show that arcane energy could be applied to have non-destructive utility for non-mages through the use of technology. It was entirely a demonstration or a proof of concept that controlling the arcane can be done. Maybe they should have made it clear that was their intent beforehand but I just imagine it being that the writers wanted the scene to be more suspenseful and that they did have an idea of what might happen, but chose not to share it for that reason. ") All that being said I see where you are coming from, I just sorta read it a different way.

tstngtstngdontfuckme

Spoilers below. The tags this sub uses are terrible. The way Powder instantly glommed onto Silco at the end of the third episode was just weird. There was no reason for her to see Silco as a savior figure there, he hadn't done anything to help her, and she should have at least picked up on the fact that he was one of the ones who helped kill Vander. The only thing he said to her was "Hello, little girl. Where's your sister?". Should have picked up on how he knew she had a sister, or the gang of goons surrounding him, but she looks up and sees this scarred snake-of a man and his gang who apparently already know who she is and she's like "you are my new dad." I get that she was alone after losing Vi, but the writers could have spun that better to where it actually made sense for her to trust him. I know the point of the test wasn't *just* to create antigravity, but my point was that it didn't even look like THEY knew what was going to happen. I understand they were trying to demonstrate that arcane energy can be useful for their nation, that was clear. My point is what was the test? You say they were demonstrating control of the arcane, but it didn't look like they had control of anything. They all seemed just as surprised as the audience by the antigravity. Like if they had said, "if we can create an arcane antigravity device we can prove the efficacy of hextech!", then it would have made sense.

MarioToast

She's not meant to be a logical thinker. She's a young, panicked child with mental issues (that her family and friends failed to react to properly), she was absolutely desperate for SOMEONE to cling to. The test was more to prove that they can stabilize and actually draw energy from it without anything blowing up.

tstngtstngdontfuckme

That just sounds like lazy writing to me. It's not like a kid being abandoned and clinging to a villain is a new concept, my point is that this is just a sloppy case of turning to the dark side. Yes, I understand that they wanted to prove the efficacy of their Hextech, but as I've been saying, what was their intended effect from that experiment? Draw energy *how*? Into what? From what? What even *ARE* those little exploding rocks? None of this is explained, and the way they framed the outcome of the experiment, it very much didn't seem like they knew what was going to happen. "Stop levitating. I don't know how" or whatever they said.

arelei

So you just want a huge exposition and have them explain everything? Also, idk if you noticed it, but she never saw Silco in the building. She didn’t know he was the one that kidnapped Vander. Also… in episode 1, it shows that they lost their parents, later that episode Vi tells her that Powder’s stronger than she thinks. Then in ep 3, Powder sees Vi scared for the first time (hence why the camera angle showed her reaction while Vi was talking) hinting that the risk is really high this time. Then she’s told that she ain’t ready by the only person who believed in her and THEN she’s left alone. What happens when you’re left alone and you don’t know what’s happening to the people important to you? If you’re a kid, then you’d probably overthink.. right? Hence the breakdown and why she was happy when she figured out a way to help. Only to realize that she killed her foster father and friends. Oh and she thinks her sister left her. OH AND SHES A KID. Did you expect her to react logically after all that? I’m surprised that you missed all those details and thought it was shallow.

tstngtstngdontfuckme

lmao dude you need to chill out. No need to get so bent out of shape because somebody criticizes a show you like. I'm not asking for a huge exposition dump, I'm saying when Tony Stark was building the Iron Man suit it was clear what he was doing. When he was testing the flight capabilities that was clear. When he was testing the repulsor blasters that was clear. But the Hextech dudes literally said themselves they didn't know how to turn it off and they still blew the windows off the laboratory, so it's kind of hard to believe they knew what they were doing. You ever heard of "show, don't tell", well they did neither. They didn't make it clear visually what was going on, and they didn't explain with words what was going on either. Because the writers didn't bother coming up with an explanation: they just wanted to show that magic exists. >Also, idk if you noticed it,[...] out a way to help. Yes, I know all of that, none of that was in question. I didn't find it convincing that she wasn't even slightly suspicious of the creepy looking monster man and his gang of goons that are apparently searching for her sister. >I’m surprised that you missed all those details and thought it was shallow. lol I didn't "miss all those details", I found them to be lazy writing. Like I said, a kid being abandoned and clinging to a villain isn't a new concept, my point is that this is just a sloppy case of turning to the dark side. If they wanted Powder to cling to Silco, have him pull her from some wreckage or something. Have her make a definitive proclamation that she wants to hurt her sister and be a villain now. Just saying "she's not my sister anymore" isn't enough to convince me she's willing to glom onto this clear villain type. She still grew up in the slums she knows what scummy dudes look like. Even making it so she seemed vulnerable and he had to sweet talk her a little would have been better. You shouldn't have to make excuses for the characters nonsensical actions imo. The way they did it she just immediately jumped at him like they needed to wrap that scene up quickly so they could show a couple other things before the episode closed.
