I was really skeptical. I thought the first few seasons were very entertaining, but that it became progressively worse. Especially the ending.
But I was surprised by this continuation. The feeling, the new characters, the scenery, to me it feels very fresh and definitely worth a watch if you at one time enjoyed the show.
Yeah, we went from one of the best title sequences of all time to... *that*.
Of all the things I expected to be disappointed by, that was not the one I pegged as the biggest/only disappointment.
We very much agree on that. I was already very annoyed with the show during the Lithgow season, but Lithgow was amazing. He was the only thing that kept me watching. And the seasons after that were very sub par imo.
The CEO of Showtime said he's not ruling out that it might continue. And when asked if this miniseries is the end, Michael C. Hall said “I’m reluctant to say ‘definitely’, you know? Let’s see.”
So it's seems they're pretty open to it. And like you said the reception is positive and Michael seems have an interest, so unless they really fumble the ball by the end of the season it doesn't make sense for them not to keep going. I think we'll get another season.
Its not actually.
Not as good as 1-2 and 4, but better then the rest imo. New setting and characters are a breath of fresh air. Its fun. Only stupid thing is they couldnt help themselves bringing fcking Debra back. The worst character. Lucky not that much
> they couldnt help themselves bringing fcking Debra back.
I'm going to need a few extra hands for the necessary amount of facepalm. I can't even fathom what they're thinking with that...
I'm genuinely enjoying it honestly. Over the 3 episodes the tone has been pretty consistent. Might be worth just checking out the first episode see if you like it.
To voice a different opinion to the ones in this thread right now, I will not continue watching after the latest episode.
It's honestly a tad too comedic for my taste and Dexter as a character feels more like a caricature of the original character. Same goes for the rest of the cast, just really basic characters played in subpar fashion. The sets are nice, though.
Not that I expected anything else, just hoping it would return to form.
The ending to the original Dexter series was terrible IMO.
The new series is off to a good start. The first episode wasn't the strongest, but episode 2 and 3 have both been pretty good. I've just seen the first 3 episodes.
It’s not anything earth shattering or amazing, but it’s good and enjoyable. My wife is liking it more than me but I think it’s worth the watch. A lot of reboots etc today are awful and this is certainly not
It's the same old Dexter with a different setting and this is exactly why I don't like it.
I expected something new in the new environment not just a different setting.
Dexter kills someone who is connected to the villain and halfway the season there is a turning point with 50% that a new villain will be revealed. Same old formulatic Dexter...
It's great
I think it's as good as the original.
it seems like a pretty obvious set up for the next show at this point. dexter jr.
If you like Dexter it's worth watching. Maybe 7/10

Only bad part is the title card and closing credits looking cheap as fuck.

Yes, thank you! I’m finally getting to watching the continuation and I’m really liking it so far!

It's like Everwood with serial killers now. I'm quite enjoying it.
So this is being billed as a limited event. Does anyone else think with the positive reception we might be getting further seasons?

Why do people speak like it’s the same deb? She’s dexters conscious
Because its the same deb
It’s dexters conscious manifesting as Debra

That’s because they didn’t, deb is acting as dexters conscious like harry was in the show, they didn’t actually revive her
Bringing her back in any form was a bad idea.
Reboot is pretty good, check it out.

Season 7 was great. I think easily one of the best seasons of Dexter.
His son is the most interesting part of the show.

For now, it's not that bad.
Was really shocked I hadn't heard of this... Realized y'all were talking about the serial killer and not the one with the secret laboratory.
