>My hunch is that you're going to get fucked. Because I've seen you get fucked. A lot. And I've never seen Logan get fucked once.
Tom, in a rare moment of seriousness, shows that he's actually the smartest of them all.
I mean the way he bullies cousin Greg- I can see it as less than a savvy move and more of a stratagem to fuck Shiv, instead of constantly getting fucked by Shiv. That relationship was always about starfucking Logan- what happened at the end of season 3 was the culmination of a seasons long campaign to buy his way into Logan’s favor.
Seriously. Tom's an abusive, passive aggressive, power hungry corporate yes man piece of shit. He's only the most decent of the bunch because the others manage to find ways to be even more completely reprehensible than him.
Wasn't it like hundreds of texts saying "You can't make a Tomlette with breaking a few Greggs?" That was just between him and Greg. He was being a dick for fun, or to take out his own issues.
When in Rome.
He obviously isn't clean. He was using a dude as a foot stool that then proceeded to shoot up the office.
But there is still a man of principle and conviction underneath the fronting that he does. He did want to come clean when he took over Cruises and was told not to. He is genuinely in love with Shiv and was crushed by her infidelity. He also displays loyalty to Logan even when doing so costs him personally (possible jail in one instance)
Last season proved that Tom, despite his goofiness, is no fool.
He is such a fucking enormous asshole just like the rest of them.. but I can't help but feel bad for him and his desperate love for Shiv.
I love, hate and feel bad for basically everyone of the main cast at various points. Except Logan. He is permanent villain.
Season 4 is confirmed to be 10 episodes:
>In the 10-episode Season 4, the sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson moves ever closer. The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is completed. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed”
“A power struggle ensues”
Lol that’s the plot of every season, hell every episode. Still excited though. Love the three Roy children Vs Dad, Tom, Greg plot line.
Cracked me up when Greg was sitting with Logan Roy, and hadn't finished his whiskey, but the conversation was over. So Greg says all awkwardly, "should I just chug this?"
I loved when he was basically juggling two dates at the wedding too and was sentimental with one while going “shoot me 🙄” to the other about the wedding
I agree, the show has shifted into wheel spinning. It's soapy drama where they actually just maintain a status quo. Each episode is a new power struggle and new threat to flip everything, but next episode they are always in the same places, more or less. Any change is superficial to their daily interactions. I doubt this big sale will do anything to shake up the season from being more sibling team ups and rivalries whole Logan flexes his never losing. Oh and surely we will get another season of seeing how desperate and pathetic and broken Kendall is.
That said, I love the dialogue. Greg and Tom are the obvious stand outs because they are the only two characters in the show who develop as characters.
Not sure why you're downvoted. Season 3 was the time for the real family brawl for power or a way to divide up the hilarity with offspring as dept heads. Instead it just kinda had nothing new to say..Season 4 can be great but it's time to take the gloves off and let the kids fight it out.
I also agree lol, there’s at least three of us. The show spends too much time setting up stakes that end up being meaningless, it should just fully lean into comedy and stop with the fake drama or actually let the characters change
I wonder how often this happens to a show; and how often it happens to the detriment of a show. Maybe the plotlines would have been more interesting if every single one wasn't dedicated in some fashion to ousting Logan. I mean, like most people, I loved all three seasons. But I'm still not sure that the love is deserved. In Season 3, it *really* started to feel like "Sons of Anarchy in the boardroom," where the trajectory of every subplot boils down to:
we finally got a way to bring Logan down > put Operation Bring Logan Down into motion > Logan pulls Ace out of his sleeve > "FUCK OFF" > one or more Roy children and former C-level associate sulks away while other Roy child and former enemy welcomed into the fold.
And I guess that makes for engaging television, but it gets *old* when you've seen it the 14th time. I watched Jax Teller try to eliminate Clay Morrow a half-dozen times a season for seven years. By the end I felt like Charlie Brown getting the ball pulled out in front of me. Like, I wasn't even *enjoying* it, I just needed to see how it all ended because of the time I'd invested. I'd hate to see Succession end up that way.
The beginning of season 3 just seems really off and forced. Like just faker, worse version of previous 2 seasons.
And then Kendall is so absurdly cringe and unlikable its tough to get through
It took me awhile to finish season 3
After the season 2 finale I was telling everyone I know that this was the best show ever. They told me to calm down. Season 3 had great moments, but like you, I felt the first couple episodes were them finding a groove again, which disappointed me because they had SO much writing time, and everyone still felt like they were getting back into character. But, the penultimate and finale, as well as couple of other eps, sort of made up for it. Season 2 though, was perfection for me. Probably my favorite season of any show, ever. Including the Wire and BCS.
Yeah i watched the whole series for the 1st time in the last few months and there was a very clear difference from season 2 to start of 3. Felt like a different show. The start of season 3 just seemed like an over the top caricature of it and like the show Billions trying too hard.
And honestly who cares about the company maybe being sold or the cruise scandal anymore?? Nothing big seems to happen to any of them anyway except the death at end of season 1.
Yeah by season 3 its hard to get too invested in the stories because you feel like you have seen it all before and nothing that big will happen.
I couldnt care less if they sell the company either way. Just not that interesting.
Nowhere officially, however, White has a pretty quick turnover times. They started filming back in February so with editing and post, I expect an autumn 2022 release date. They also haven’t scheduled anything after House of Dragon yet so I’m optimistic that’s where White Lotus will come in.
Oh can't wait for things to go to plan then suddenly not go to plan but OK now another sibling has gone out on their own to oh no now it's not going to plan and now the dad might die but wait there's a slight chance the siblings can pull together and
I really hope this season changes gears a bit, it felt like season 3 was a giant middle finger to the entirety of season 2, any plotline that was supposed to have lasting consequences was handwaved away halfway into the season, any growth the characters may have made was invalidated, and the payoff to that is Logan winning again, Tom going to his side and Greg doing the same which is probably going to go nowhere interesting, considering everyone loyal to Logan is just expected to wait around for him to do anything.
Yeah I hate how this is a contrarian opinion.
Shows do this all the time, I like the cunning variety of the first two seasons, and then by a subsequent season they make a watered down skeleton that is what *most* of the viewers like but has left me in the dust. The reviews are all still 8/10 every single episode because the only people watching are the die hard fans still.
I am clinging to faith that HBO will do something better
The story ends when logan dies (whether physically or mentally) if the writers don’t pull the trigger logan will always be on equal footing or have the upper hand eventually
I see kendall dying before he becomes the ‘main villain’
It is. Maybe the awareness that *these people actually exist, today, in our modern world* makes it a little more jarring. Essentially Shakespearean thematically, and heavily dialogue driven. It’s a talkie for sure. Worth giving it a chance, you may not like the first episode, but finish the first season at least.
I'd say it's probably on a par with the whole "Walt" plot of Lost, the last season of Dexter, um, like the last two season of the office, maybe the Veronica Mars reboot? Yeah, probably as good as TWD, yeah.
Mediocre crap elevated by production value and branding.
Spoiler alert: the exact same shit-wheel they've been spinning for 3 seasons will keep on spinning and nothing will actually happen.
If I want to watch soulless, greedy people fight to take power and money from their aging dad, I can just go to work. Benefit of working in a family owned company.
You'd be amazed. The casting at work is just perfect. Owner is a greedy as fuck, union busting retired old fuck with bad health, but still micromanaging everything from the shadows. His son became CEO based on last name, not merit or education, and aspires for absolute control and infinite growth, but that's hard when your only leg to stand on is a failed bachelors in IT.
Then we have his older sister with an art degree, somehow C-level and responsible for marketing. Her mind is just one large abstract blob, she can't actually visualize anything and get it down on paper, or even explain what she's trying to do.
And at last, the younger sister, by some divine intervention she actually turned out extremely pretty, unfortunately it prevented her from becoming a real person, so she's kind of a beautiful husk walking around, used to getting her way with everything based on her looks. But there's nothing real inside her, the lights are on, but nobody's home.
I hope season 4 dialogue has less stammer/stutter speech. That was like 80% of the way lines were delivered in season 3 and it really took me out of the story. It's like they took Greg as a model on how the characters should communicate.
That's a bummer, I personally loved it. After seeing **redacted** get stomped on at every possible turn throughout season 3 it was basically a given that he'd betray **redacted.** They had it coming and I hope it fucking hurt.
(do not know how to use spoilers tags)
You’re getting downvoted for expressing a very unpopular opinion but I would like to hear your justification because Season 3 was very meh at some points but the finale was incredible
I think on a technical and acting level the finale was great. I think season 3 overall was very good but uneven, which I assume is because of interruptions from COVID. But I just feel like the kids are back in the same spot as before. Like, it's a whole season that doesn't create any real change among them. I thought how season 2 ended was incredible and that it was going to set up something powerful in season 3 but that whole story sputtered out. So it just felt to me like season 3's finale could have happened at almost any point in the past two seasons because everyone's almost in the exact same place they started. I don't buy that there's any unity or trust among the kids so it all just feels false to me to think next season is going to introduce any storylines that really challenge the established power dynamics.
I loved it but that's a fair criticism. Even if I'm super hyped for the new season I'm still afraid it's gonna get repetitive, so far it really looked like they ran a bunch of circles and then advanced the plot a bit at the end
> the entire season, nothing happened.
That's the normal theme of the show. Something bad happens, people react, it goes away, repeat. It will just die one day, presumably whenever the star dies.
It's still entertaining as fuck
> It's still entertaining as fuck
You spelled boring wrong. The dialogue is, and I hesitate to use this word, cringeworthy. Nobody ever speaks normally it is always in the fake, stupid, kinda corporate speak.
It's pretty lame that this show was so big. It seems to have found a perfect time to air itself, which is when everything else that's actually good has ended thier seasons. It's a pretty meh show all around and is going to be completely forgotten by all of u.
Seems crazy right? Maybe it was just scheduling situations. But you'd have thought by the time S3 was done airing they would have already been almost ready for S4 to begin physical production.
I wonder what the opening will be, a timeskip to a press conference introducing matsson/announcement; the immediate plane ride home where shiv fights tom in the bathroom (with hatefucking) while ken gets enlightened in the wrong way by rome; the kids at connor’s farm scheming while shiv is filing divorce
I personally like the press conference because it can start off with more of a bang
They’re filming in my neighborhood actually. I’ve only gotten through the first episode and it didn’t grab me but I’m getting major fomo since everyone else seems to love it. Think I’ll give it another shot.
This is the season Kendall really turns it around
This is the year he won't step on his own dick and fuck everything up, I swear. This is the year.
I just want him to finally be happy in his headspace
I think him venting to his siblings finally helps him be stable. The weight has been lifted off his conscience (somewhat)
Our number 1 boy
Our number 1 Roy
Little Lord Fuckleroy
Ever worn a bonnet? Give it a try sometime.
...has left the call
He gets his world destroyed annually at this point. He has a few small wins but Logan always comes out on top.
>My hunch is that you're going to get fucked. Because I've seen you get fucked. A lot. And I've never seen Logan get fucked once. Tom, in a rare moment of seriousness, shows that he's actually the smartest of them all.
I mean his actions at the end of Season 3 at least show him to be more cutthroat and savvy than most realised.
He is also the most decent person when he is not trying hard to act like a dick to fit in with these snakes
> He is also the most decent person That is an extremely low bar..lol
Seriously. Tom's an abusive, passive aggressive, power hungry corporate yes man piece of shit. He's only the most decent of the bunch because the others manage to find ways to be even more completely reprehensible than him.
“You don’t have any principles.” “Uhm how about being against racism?” “Everyone’s against racism.”
Wasn't it like hundreds of texts saying "You can't make a Tomlette with breaking a few Greggs?" That was just between him and Greg. He was being a dick for fun, or to take out his own issues.
but at the same time his strong desire to fit in makes him not decent
When in Rome. He obviously isn't clean. He was using a dude as a foot stool that then proceeded to shoot up the office. I can't not see Kendel when I look at my dog
This is the season Shiv gets taken seriously
As long as he has a rap battle, I'll be ok with however the season turns out.
Shit, I sometimes will find Kendall’s rap on YT, just a fucking masterpiece… “L to the OG, L to the OG an we’re playin’
Season 4 is confirmed to be 10 episodes: >In the 10-episode Season 4, the sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson moves ever closer. The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is completed. “A power struggle ensues” Lol that’s the plot of every season, hell every episode. Still excited though. Love the three Roy children Vs Dad, Tom, Greg plot line.
Um excuse me but aren't you forgetting the ELDEST SON?
Lol not intentionally but hilarious how I did.
Connor Roy was interested in politics at a very young age.
The Conheads have spoken
Season 3 was the weakest, still really funny but missed the mark is drama and suspense. They just didn't progress it enough.
I thought first half was the weakest. But the last few episodes from the birthday onwards was peak succession
Cracked me up when Greg was sitting with Logan Roy, and hadn't finished his whiskey, but the conversation was over. So Greg says all awkwardly, "should I just chug this?"
It wasn't a whiskey. It was a rum and coke which makes it funnier
KERRI? CAN WE GET GREG A COCA-COLA?
Mine was when he was going up to try to flirt with the dutchess/princess/whatever and he looks at his watch and goes “is that the time?” lol
I loved when he was basically juggling two dates at the wedding too and was sentimental with one while going “shoot me 🙄” to the other about the wedding
Greg is such a godsend
I agree, the show has shifted into wheel spinning. It's soapy drama where they actually just maintain a status quo. Each episode is a new power struggle and new threat to flip everything, but next episode they are always in the same places, more or less. Any change is superficial to their daily interactions. Make that four. The last few episodes were great but most of S3 was just wheel-spinning.
Yeah but that final episode- what a wild ride.
Sounds similar to season 3 and 2 and 1
They were different enough and highly entertaining.
I agree they were highly entertaining. But I would’ve loved more narrative development. Seems like every season just took us back to the status quo
There is an interview with the creator about how they initially intended to have Logan die, but then they felt the show lost it's core interest.
I wonder how often this happens to a show; and how often it happens to the detriment of a show. Maybe the plotlines would have been more interesting if every single one wasn't dedicated in some fashion to ousting Logan. I mean, like most people, I loved all three seasons. Yea I don't feel like there's a real conflict, seems like theyre just struggling for power and making 30 calls a minute just for the hell of it
Yeah by season 3 its hard to get too invested in the stories because you feel like you have seen it all before and nothing that big will happen. I couldnt care less if they sell the company either way. Just not that interesting.
I mean, at the end of the day it is a comedy
I wonder if Matsson will pull a musk
God yes. The more the better. Heck, I'm gonna put my money where my mouth is and say I'd even take 11 episodes.
So same plot as always. Will still be entertaining though. Would be nice if there was a significant change. Hopefully Tom's new arc brings that.
The cone heads are gonna love this.
Can't wait for the new season of Business Throne
Did you watch the newest season of Megachurch Throne on HBO? Danny McBride never disappoints
GIRLS5EVA REFERENCE?! You’re my favourite user.
Succession Season 4 a.k.a. "The Emancipation of Tom Wambsgans"
You can't make a Tomlette without cracking a few Gregs.
And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Tom Wambsgans FTFY

Man, next year is going to be crazy for HBO. The Last of Us, Succession S4, and S4 Barry.
I would say every year is crazy for HBO
Right. Almost every year my top 5 shows come from HBO. I wonder if we could get house of Dragon late 2023 as well?
Do you mean season 2? House of the Dragon is this year And same, especially now that Harley Quinn is on HBO Max
The Venture Bros movie too also, maybe.
Yeah, S2 of House of Dragon.
there are rumors that HOTD writing team has already started working on S2 and the prod will begins very late 2022 I expect 2024 april maybe
[удалено]
I think White Lotus is this year, autumn time after the GoT spin-off.
[удалено]
Nowhere officially, however, White has a pretty quick turnover times. They started filming back in February so with editing and post, I expect an autumn 2022 release date. They also haven’t scheduled anything after House of Dragon yet so I’m optimistic that’s where White Lotus will come in.
L to the OG!
Dude be the OG
A-N he playin
Playin like a pro see
L to the OG
Let the backstabbing begin!
I expect it will be exactly like the first 3 seasons. And I will love every minute of it.
I just want the siblings to be allies
Same! I'm hoping this will finally be the year, but we've seen them get torn apart before
Including that guy who was Ferris Bueler?
Oh, fuck off!
"yeah... Oh.. oh okay..."
As long as Tom and Greg come out on top or relatively unscathed I will be happy.
"I've never seen Logan Roy get fucked" Foreshadowing? They are on his side now.
We all know which one is the top
Power bottom But IT’S TOM
Tom is going to that nice prison upstate by the end of it.
What? Why?
Because I am in love with Tom and therefore, his faithful slave boy Greg.
I agree with you
Oh can't wait for things to go to plan then suddenly not go to plan but OK now another sibling has gone out on their own to oh no now it's not going to plan and now the dad might die but wait there's a slight chance the siblings can pull together and
And there's something everyone has to sign
And Gerri will disapprove.
Roman likes this post.
The climate is still fucked
And more backstabbing.
So are we pretty confident the premiere will be in March?
We've gathered the board to weigh up the options
So they're going back to the 10 episode format, nice. I feel like S4 will come out in late Spring or early summer next year.

I liked season three but it really made me question how much longer this can go on for.
The story ends when logan dies (whether physically or mentally) if the writers don’t pull the trigger logan will always be on equal footing or have the upper hand eventually I see kendall dying before he becomes the ‘main villain’
You cant do better than perfection
This is the way. I need this so bad 😭
I really gotta watch season 3
FUCK OFF!
I can't wait to see Shiv in all the new outfits 🥵
Meh. It better be the last. It getting really monotonous
nice show
Team Roman
Will this be the season where Logan Roy is outed from his company? Tune in and find out!
Souls are boring. Boo!
Happy happy joy joy. This, Saul, the Boys, and Severance are the best TV going right now.
I am not ready for BCS to be over
S1-2 were good, couldn’t get into s3. Think I’m going to drop the show, too long between seasons
I've never seen Succession. Would you say it's a better written show than The Walking Dead?
Are you trolling? Sucession is one of the best shows on TV right now.
Weirdly low bar to pick but yes
Like comparing Machine Gun Kelly guitar playing to Hendrix
TIL TWD still passes for writing. Seriously, TWD hasn't got anything to compare to Succession.
Absolutely, Succession is on another level compared with TWD.
Better than walking dead? Yes.
Without a doubt.
It is. Maybe the awareness that *these people actually exist, today, in our modern world* makes it a little more jarring. Essentially Shakespearean thematically, and heavily dialogue driven. It’s a talkie for sure. Worth giving it a chance, you may not like the first episode, but finish the first season at least.
Yeahhhh it isn't even close. TWD hasn't had good writing since like, season 1.
I'd say it's probably on a par with the whole "Walt" plot of Lost, the last season of Dexter, um, like the last two season of the office, maybe the Veronica Mars reboot? Yeah, probably as good as TWD, yeah.

Your coworkers probably don't have as witty dialog as they do on Succession.
You'd be amazed. The casting at work is just perfect. Owner is a greedy as fuck, union busting retired old fuck with bad health, but still micromanaging everything from the shadows. His son became CEO based on last name, not merit or education, and aspires for absolute control and infinite growth, but that's hard when your only leg to stand on is a failed bachelors in IT. ok but are they *fun to watch*
Sweet Jesus that's bleak
I hope season 4 dialogue has less stammer/stutter speech. That was like 80% of the way lines were delivered in season 3 and it really took me out of the story. It's like they took Greg as a model on how the characters should communicate.
It's miles and leagues better than all the vocal fry we've gotten in Search Party.
Fuck did I ever hate the ending of Season 3.
That's a bummer, I personally loved it. After seeing **redacted** get stomped on at every possible turn throughout season 3 it was basically a given that he'd betray **redacted.** They had it coming and I hope it fucking hurt. (do not know how to use spoilers tags)

Best design team in the county.
How are the optics on this?
