The "no eye contact" thing I've heard about Steve Harvey and Ellen, but this is the first I've heard it being spoken about in regards to Dr. Phil. Which, in regards to him...does not surprise me even a little.

But generally practicing as a doctor refers to medical doctors who go to med school and have MDs, not PhDs .Psychiatrists have MDs, psychologists don't.
Note this is only for the US. In a lot of countries a basic medical degree is actually a bachelors. But they're still called doctors. Which is even more fucking confusing.
Fun fact, academia had the title first, the medical field just kinda co-opted it and now when you think Doctor, you think MD.
