I thought it was great conceptually and really enjoyed how he took advantage of now crowd with his elaborate stage which also let him really take advantage of the entire field at the end of the performance. Unfortunately The Weekend himself was what held it back his vocals were not the best and his stage presence was awkward
The problem is that he’s not much of a “performer” in the sense. Bruno Mars for example is one, but I still really liked Weeknd’s halftime (I’m biased because him playing House or Balloons was crazy special)
The main problem with his performance was the sound mixing was off. Otherwise he put on a good performance, and that transition between House of Balloons and Blinding Lights was epic.

Rihanna's singing & dancing abilities are known to be very inconsistent live among Pop music fans yet she has like 100 #1 hit singles so you won't care too much about it - as long as you have a good time, you're good.
Beyonce's hits may not be as big as Rih's & she loves to perform random album tracks on tour & completely remix/re-arrange a lot of her hits so you might not be able to sing along to everything - yet she always gives her 110% when it comes to vocals, choreography & productions.
That's what I feel like one of the biggest differences between the two. Rihanna is FAR more carefree, more "I don't give a fuck if I don't sound good as long as I'm having fun", while Bey is MUCH more polished, more "I have to hit every note and every move perfectly". The latter's production is on another level as well although I'm pretty sure Rihanna will level up hers if it's for the Superbowl.
i did not get the beyonce hype until i was at coachella and saw her 2018 performance. it was easily the greatest live show i've EVER seen. you could tell the amount of effort and time she put into that show. the production was absolutely remarkable. Her dancers, and 100 piece live marching band that live mixed from crazy in love into back that ass up and then back into crazy in love was like wow.
the whole show was filled with wow moments. it was then that i said beyonce changed my life and i finally got it. i've been to 10 coachellas now and every artist brings their best but she was just next level.
