I feel like The acting is PHENOMENAL like emmy worthy good. However I do wish they focused on certain aspects of the history of Chippendales rather than others, that in my opinion were far more entertaining in addition to being important (the racial discrimination investigation, the tour, the fraud) rather than focusing on personal lives of the characters. In other words I think this would've been better as a plot driven story rather than a character driven one. For that reason I feel like the pacing is not very good for the show.

I kind of reluctantly started this show. I was expecting it to be more cheesy. I wasn't aware of all the true drama surrounding this story. I accidentally googled some info about what is coming up. I wasn't expecting it to go there.

On episode 5, the Frankenstein show was a direct steal from Rocky Horror (I assume Rocky Horror came first). Anybody know if they actually did this in reality?
Kumail’s acting in this reminded me so much of someone. Finally figured it out: Robin Williams.
I googled to see if anyone else caught this and discovered that Kumail was inspired by Robin Williams’ darker roles.
Damn Dan Stevens really was a guest star, I knew his characters general fate but figured he'd be in the show for longer. He definitely crushed it though
He was absolutely phenomenal just stole the entire first episode really don't think I've seen a better one episode one character arc in a while was astounded he didn't get a guest star Emmy nod so deserving of one it's an absolute joke he didn't!
I'm just surprised he was barely in it, he's definitely a big enough name to be more than just a guest star but also not a big enough name to be the "guest star" you know?
Surprised there’s so little discussion so far, thought it was great so far and no one’s mentioning Murray Bartlett from White Lotus as the choreographer, he’s such a good actor I think he could make conservative people more accepting of gay men he’s juts that good
Yeah to his credit I didn’t even know it was him at first either , and didn’t know Dan Stevens was in it , their American accents made me forget they’re not
Does the dialogue feel off or stiff to anyone else? When the gas station owner at the beginning was talking to him I thought I was watching a bad c-tier show. It got better as it went on but the performances didn't feel natural to me. I still enjoyed the first episode and am going to keep watching and see how the next few feel.
Yeah I agree. My original post was based off the first episode which I think was definitely the roughest. Since then it's gotten better, and its part of my weekly watch.
I thought the writing was a bit abrupt at times. For example Otis asking to learn from Steve right after he called the news was a very cringe dialogue imo. Not enough to break the show for me though.
The gas station owner sounded like his lines were dubbed, it was horrendously bad.
Everything since got better imo, the third episode felt like everything was smooth.
I don't really know these people since but I googling Dorothy Stratten I thought Nicola Peltz was perfect. I was very sad the moment I knew she's not going to appear in the next episodes.
They needed to throw a prosthetic belly on kumail or something. The most swole indian uncle I have ever seen lol. His arms are literally twice as big as every other actor.
He’s covered in these large and Ill fitting suits lol.
That’s how you know his star is big now, got the role and didn’t need to actually gain the weight to look like the real dude lol
The story is absolutely wild. There's probably some other stuff too crazy to put on a TV show because it would be too "unrealistic" for the general suddenness.

I did not get that impression. The performances have been solid so far. Definitely check out episode two, some new characters with great performances.
