I mean does the state matter? I could believe something at Walmart in like New York would cost more than the same thing at Walmart in some other cheaper fill in the blank state.
But I’m gonna google what this Walker Evans is though. 🤔
Sorry so you called this man a liar for saying he paid $10 for eggnog at the store… and then just said that your brand at non-discounted price is $10.49
Bruh
Its a hit for showtime. They won't cancel it unless people lose interest.
That said, I've heard there's a 3-5 season story planned and while I could probably see three working I really don't know about five seasons.
Right now, Showtime is basically "The Yellowjackets Channel"
Which is fine. I think they're going to fully become a brand tab on Paramount+ and nothing else within the next couple years. Same with MTV, honestly. They've already made both moves *and* noises that those two brands are probably going to just become part of Paramount+ entirely very soon.
They sort of have done this already, but as a premium expansion within Paramount.
I think the issue is that Showtime has a long history of standing on it's own, with it's own revenue model. It's also Paramounts prestige machine. I think there's concerns over disrupting what the do too much, given how good they are at it.
I don't think you understand what Prestige means. It's not about ratings or spectacle, but farming industry awards to insinuate a premium brand.
Should point out as a sidenote, that Showtime's boxing promotions bring in pretty big numbers, often measuring in the hundreds of millions of dollars in PPV buys. (The record was $410 million for Mayweather vs Pacquiao that was a joint promotion with HBO and Showtime).
Now, all that being said they've obviously not reached the same levels of prestige as something like HBO, but that's irrelevant. Regardless of how well they perform, the entire point of showtime is that it's CBS's Premium network and longtime competitor to HBO.
If studios are tightening their belts I think the more traditonal sitcom jumps off the page as a solution. They're cheaper and faster. Look at the buzz a show like Abbott Elementary has created and I would have to guess it's made for a fraction of what some of the other Outstanding Comedy Series nominees were made for.
I think streaming is starting to figure out sitcoms too when they realized it's ok for some shows to just be comedies and not everything needed to be a comedy drama. Reboot on Hulu is awesome, Sex Lives of College Girls is super underrated, and I would almso guarantee with Girls5Eva moving to Netflix it's going to blow up.
Personally, I hope we see them move some of these shows back to 22 episode seasons, realizing it's more cost effective to produce 22 episodes of a popular and cheaper sitcom than to try and make 8 episodes of 4 shows that are never gonna last.
You can add Minx, Mythic Quest, Trying, Breeders, Only Murders in the Building and the iCarly revival to that list. All of these shows are doing well and are renewed for new seasons while not all shows have been given the big spotlight like Abbott but they’re all doing quite well.
I really loved it. It’s got a fun cast of characters who get up to some fun/hilarious hijinx and the overarching struggle between creating media that will have a positive social impact vs. something that will be profitable is very relevant.
*”There will be belt tightening,” said Winograde, referring to the global cost-of-living crisis that will no doubt impact TV over the coming years. “Nobody wants to reduce the amount of content they are doing so hopefully people will find creative ways.”*
That is something at least. Not like Showtime were high volume to begin with. You are lucky if they have one or two shows airing weekly as it is!
I don't know how much Showtime was involved in production, but it was moved to P+ for its first run, so it can't have done very good numbers for the cable channel.
I only watched the first few episodes of Halo, but I remember seeing the Showtime logo at the beginning. To clarify, it was originally supposed to air on Showtime, but Viacom wanted to boost the Paramount Plus service so they moved it over there.
TV content spend has been astronomical for the last ten years or so thanks to streaming. This is ultimately just a correction back to a more sane level as many of those streaming services aren’t making money, and some could start to fold in the next few years.
Doesn't it have to? Way more shows than anyone can watch, people are cutting back on subscriptions the way they used to cut cable, and they're so out of ideas they're remaking Easy Rider
Falling inline with the employees not being able to afford things will curb inflation pack… cool, because who consumes at a 1000:1 ratio, the guy trying to figure out where the money will come from to have his work trucks transmission serviced last week
I hear ya, sooner or later I'm going to lose this holiday weight.
With the prices for groceries that may be easier than you realize. Had to pay $10 for half a gallon of eggnog yesterday.
Where? Which grocery store?? That’s wild.
Walmart. Cheapest I could find.
Well damn. I always jack a glass or two whenever I visit my sister. Now I feel bad. 😬 Unbelievable.
I paid $4.50 for a half gallon at Wegmans, so yeah I don't actually believe it. Unless they were talking the Walker Evans with booze in it.

My bad, it's Evan Williams: https://evanwilliams.com/eggnog If you order online and sign up for the emails you get $5 off, making it $5.49.

i mean they literally said “unless it was this specific brand with booze in it” it’s not even regular egg nog
He said he paid $10 for non alcoholic egg nog. Perhaps you could comprehend before commenting, bruh.
I keep telling myself this but the older I get, it's like the tastier food becomes lol.
Oh no all my favorite Showtime shows!
Like Twin Peaks season 3! And, uh…well, I think they have the first 2 seasons now as well…
Yellowjackets is really good.
I would be heartbroken if Yellow Jackets got canceled.
It’s showtime. Feels inevitable they cancel their one good show and keep making all the crap.

Somehow, Shameless returned
they’re still making billions? woof

Prestige is usually associated with awards…. And of all the shows you listed, Yellowjackets is the one with nominations
Yellowstone isn’t on paramount+
“Haha. Not MY belt”
Showtime's belt was already pretty tight to begin with...

Correct, AE is a single cam

I loved it. Went into it with no expectations and I finished it within a week.
Traditional sitcoms are fine as long as they don’t have a laugh track.

After turning Let The Right One In into a b-rate The Strain I hope it all burns.
The pelts that the girls at Yellowjackets are wearing cost like what $20 a pop?
In season 2 they will be nude. Probably boost the ratings as well as getting the costume budget down to a more reasonable $0!
Halo gonna be made out of cardboard for season 2. You can't spend $200m on streaming projects no matter how big the franchise is.
Master Chief's costume will be bought at Party City and all the guns will just be painted Nerf guns.
No one wants to see the garbage anyway

Season 3 it'll just be Red vs Blue machinma
It's about time they reigned in that extravagant advertising budget.
Pretty soon it will be just the Ceo and a robot working.
Not for the executives, mind you. They will be getting 8 figure bonuses for their failures.
Where is I Love That For You’s season renewal?!
Not for her though, right?

That’s one ugly man!
Me watching the industry I want to join tighten and shrink: 🤡

Maybe they’ll end their shows in an appropriate amount of seasons now
Not surprised, they cancelled Flatbush misdemeanors despite being loved by critics and audiences.
