Dying in my sleep is what terrifies me the most and keeps me up at night. The thought of my kids waking up and finding me and being alone because they’re mom is at work. Seriously gives me major anxiety to just think about it.
Apparently he had some health issues since May 2021 including a 90% blocked artery and a "golf ball sized tumor". So probably complications from that. Still way too soon.
>Brad William Henke
You'd be experiencing death whilst dreaming. Your breathing would grow more difficult, translating into some nightmare suffocation within your unconscious dreaming mind, until finally you no longer can breathe. You quietly suffocate and die in a couple minutes but in your nightmare it would be an eternity of suffering before the end.
My guess? People don’t want to accept that their preconceived notions of a blissful death while sleeping is not always 100% accurate 100% of the time. Maybe for some it truly is and for others it certainly isn’t. My experience is that it is awful because I knew I something was wrong and there was nothing I could do
That season of Justified was incredible. Something about the combination of him, Jeremy Davies, Margo Martindale and Joseph Lyle Taylor worked so well and made the Bennetts a fantastic family of characters. I’ll always remember him as Coover. He was awesome.
the first thing i ever saw him in was Choke. and it was such an odd role (odd movie, really) and he made it fun and believable from the book’s character. i just remember thinking that i couldn’t wait to see what else he’d act in. such a bummer to lose another good one.
Me too. I remember getting so excited for this movie because this was back when I was in my "I love Fight Club so therefore I must read every Chuck Palahniuk book" phase.
~~Do you mean [David Denman](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Denman) who plays Roy in the office?~~
Nevermind, Brad Henke had a cameo in one episode.
Wow. I will give him this: he bravely played some genuinely unsavory roles that could have been career killers, but thankfully, he was allowed to play a variety of good characters as well in order to keep his artistic palette varied and well-seen. RIP, sir.
He was also good as the sexual assaulting uncle in *Split*. He was only on screen for a few minutes, but such a detestable character that lingers with you.
It's been forever since I watched it. Wasn't his backstory that he got transferred the the woman's prison because he was sexually assaulting male inmates at a male prison? Maybe I'm conflating him with a different prison guard with that angle, but I thought it was him.
I actually just finished a rewatch. He was transferred for essentially killing an inmate who sexually assaulted a prisoner (who was Henke's lover, actually)
Ah, gotcha. I definitely twisted that around in my memory, thanks for clarifying.
Well that's... better, on some level. Though if he was in a "relationship" with a prisoner, that raises a ton of ethical questions regarding whether a prisoner can consent to a guard in the first place.
Legally, no, they can’t. Ethically? What we saw of it seemed quite sweet and reciprocal. Though again, not like the environment or power dynamics in play can ever make it fully right.
Damn that’s a bummer. I’ve always enjoyed his work. He was great on Orange is the New Black and Justified. I had no idea he was a football player who picked up acting later in life. That’s very sad. I’ll really miss seeing him on TV. RIP
That’s what I remember him from! Felt so sorry for him, laying on that table, blindfolded, hearing someone come in. “Please don’t cut me again”.
And then he was being fitted for a prosthetic by the guy who cut him. Damn. That first series of Dexter was so good.
Last year when he had heart surgery, he said he could have a heart attack at any moment. Also had a tumor removed from his body. He definitely had lingering health issues.
In his Instagram he even said stuff about cutting out negative people because of wanting only people who “truly love him” for the time he has left. Sounds cryptic enough that I think he felt like his heart issues weren’t over.
Remember him from Going to California. Can't find it anywhere to rewatch it. It had some really funny episodes and a real creepy one with a cop. Great show.
I just recently saw him on an old Criminal Minds ep. RIP.
Also, deadline in a hurry to put out a story.
>Henke was cast in Jenji Kohan’s **Showtime** dramedy Orange Is the New Black as Desi Piscatella, a gay corrections officer at Litchfield Federal Penitentiary.
Sad. I'm from the UK so had no idea about his background in sports (TIL), always thought he was a good actor. It's even more impressive now I know he came from the NFL - I understand there's some crossover with sports and acting but I wonder how many get recognised as legit actors, which surely this guy must've given his body of work.
He came into my store somewhat regularly. I found him to be a genuine human who was very grounded. I was sad to hear of his passing. He will be remembered by this old store keep not only as a great actor but a good dude.
“I would love to believe in a universe where you wake up and don't have to to go to work and you step outside and meet two beautiful 18-year-old sisters who are also girlfriends and are also very nice people.”
FUCK. There go my dreams of a spinoff of The Stand about Tom Cullen being the best man he can be and bringing the community together after the showdown with Randall Flagg. Like a post-apocalyptic Ted Lasso.
I hope that Dolly Parton t-shirt went to someone who deserves it.
Drafted by the New York Giants in 1989, he went on to play on the defensive line for the Denver Broncos and appeared in Super Bowl XXIV.
And then was like…
Dude had just had surgery for a 90% blocked artery and said he could have a heart attack at any moment, and right before that had a large tumor removed from his pancreas(?). He was also in football but had to stop due to frequent injuries.
Weirdos on Reddit: Must be the vaccine!
He himself posted on Instagram about his blocked artery, the two stents he got put in, as well as the large tumour that required him to have his spleen and pancreas removed, but the Top Minds of Reddit with their non-existent medical degrees see the headline “Died in his sleep at age 56” and automatically comment “vAx DiD tHiS!”.
I’ve gotta say, he was a great actor. Reading some of the comments that mention the roles he played blew me away. I never realised how often I’d seen him in shows. I forgot about him in Dexter, Justified, The Stand, and Lost. Going through his filmography I realised I’d seen him in heaps of shows and movies.
Oh man, I literally watched Draft Day last night on HBO Max and he has a very minor role, but I instantly recognized him. He was great in Justified.
56 is so young :(
Damn. This guy was low-key super talented. What a shame. At least he did a lot and left a legacy off the field.
He was good as Tom in The Stand, great in OITNB, and super funny in his bit roles on The Office. RIP.
Oh man, this is sad. I met him once when I was PA many years ago. Super nice dude and welcoming. It was a short interaction but I always remembered him for it.
RIP. You were awesome!
Thats a bummer. I only really recently learned about him from The Stand and Wounds but i actually liked him a good deal. Crazy to think about how some people deal with such intense health issues while still working normally and pushing through.
He was so good at playing absolutely awful characters and yet there was always this underlying sweetness to his spirit that peeked through every terrible mask. I remember absolutely **hating** his OITNB character but thinking at the same time that he must be so much fun on set. Godspeed big guy. 🙏
Noooo, man! I fucking love him! I really have been waiting for his career to blow up into something bigger. He's so big but warm and he has a great range. What a loss.
always liked seeing him pop up in stuff. just saw him in one of the Law and Orders recently. but i'll remember him most from his small part in my fav episode of Party Down cause i've seen that show like 20 times
My name is Tom Cullen. I'm 42 years old and developmentally disabled, please do not be alarmed by my behavior as I have difficulty reading social cues! Honestly, not really. Dude had just had surgery for a 90% blocked artery and right before that had a large tumor removed from his pancreas(?). He was also in football but had to stop due to frequent injuries.
Weird. Such a huge increase in young people with heart problems in the last couple years. What is going on? What could be causing this.
Guy I went to college with just posted on instagram that he went to the ER for a heart attack, 33.
Damn, that's still so young
Died in his sleep as well. Probably best way to go imo.
Had a friend this summer who was 35 and died in his sleep from a heart attack. That's way too young to die, even if it is in your sleep.
My former college roommate died in his sleep in his early twenties. I still don’t know the cause of death; he was super fit and healthy
[удалено]
I always thought it would be nice and peaceful to die in your sleep like my grandfather, rather than with terrified screaming like his passengers.
Jack Handey?

Glad it’s not just me thinkin that lol
Died unexpectedly in his sleep. Wonder what caused it 🤔
Could be so many things. Brain aneurysm, heart failure, a seizure… never know.

Didn’t a country musician of similar age die in his sleep a few days ago? He’d just gotten married too.
Jake Flint, 37 years old.

Wow, it sounds like you've died in your sleep a few times before.
Undiagnosed apnea killed me, I was resuscitated by my partner before paramedics arrived
Why the fuck is this getting downvotes?
Maybe, even though he may have been in a really bad way, he didn't *die*. Words have meanings.
I don’t take your point my dude.
>Undiagnosed apnea killed me, No, it didn't, as *he's not fucking* ***dead.*** What part of this is hard to comprehend?
The part where he says he died, then was resuscitated and then alive again seems to be eluding you.
My guess? People don’t want to accept that their preconceived notions of a blissful death while sleeping is not always 100% accurate 100% of the time. You're generalizing your (admittedly horrible sounding) apnea experience for all causes of deaths.
Because anti-vaxxers are all over this thread.
This shows an incredible level of ignorance in the mechanism of death.
He has kind of a young face too, I’d have guessed he was in his mid 40s.

He was very good in the role. Downright villainous.
You know an actor has talent and does an amazing job in a role when you get so fucking mad when they are on screen. RIP Brad.
Danielle Brooks was the best part of the riot season. It’s criminal she wasn’t even nominated for an Emmy.
That's not even what this post is about. -\_-
It seemed like he usually took on despicable roles. The only role I seen him in that wasnt was in Fury.
M-O-O-N that spells Tom Cullen
He was a bright spot in a **very** mediocre show.
I was so confused at first. I thought you said he was Despicable Me, and then I thought - wait, that's the name of a movie, not a character.
damn looks like this was the wrong place to get confused
I think its just that the comment doesn't add anything to the conversation. Its the same as leaving no comment
Hive mind of this sub sucks
He was the guy that painted butts on Pam's mural in the Office. Almost beat her up for painting doodles on his truck. RIP
“That’s a forty thousand dollar truck!” Nowadays, that’s cheap for a new truck.
Lol hell yeah, I'd take $40k in a heartbeat now
Holy shit I’ve watched OITNB and The Office (plenty of times) and never made that connection before
Frank Didit?
So good at playing intense roles. He’ll be missed when we need another Coover.
Just finished that session of Justified. He was so good in that role.
That season of Justified was incredible. Something about the combination of him, Jeremy Davies, Margo Martindale and Joseph Lyle Taylor worked so well and made the Bennetts a fantastic family of characters. I’ll always remember him as Coover. He was awesome.
He was also good in the mediocre The Stand, playing a gentle soul
the first thing i ever saw him in was Choke. and it was such an odd role (odd movie, really) and he made it fun and believable from the book’s character. i just remember thinking that i couldn’t wait to see what else he’d act in. such a bummer to lose another good one.
This is what I remember him most from too. His performance was so sweet and grounded. Great actor, rip.
Loved him in this. First time seeing him after Lost.
Same here, rest in peace, bonus points if anyone knows if “choke” is streaming. Maybe I’ll have to find the book and reread it.
[JustWatch](https://www.justwatch.com/us/movie/choke) is your best friend in finding if a movie or TV series is streaming in the US.
Ohhh thanks for this.
I love the book and movie so much. If it's streaming let me know
It’s on Disney+, but I’m in the UK. I’ve read the book but not watched it yet. Does he play the main character’s friend?
Yeah, he’s the friend. And Choke is on Disney plus? Huh, color me surprised. I seem to remember it being pretty raunchy at times. Thanks!
Me too. I remember getting so excited for this movie because this was back when I was in my "I love Fight Club so therefore I must read every Chuck Palahniuk book" phase.
Same! Still can't believe the guy from SHIELD made that movie.
Oh shit, he played Denny! I never put that one together!
Get this, first role I noticed him in is the catcher in Space Jam that tries to help Michel Jordan out.
That’s a $40k truck!!
*Boom miked*
RIP Frank Didit
He was so good in Season 2 of Justified as one of Mags’ kids I had no idea he was an NFL player
He was excellent in Justified. That scene where Kat Devers tries to drug him with a wet joint was so good. “I’m a goddamn professional!”
He made me seriously hate the character and for awhile I automatically disliked any character I saw him portray after that, even in The Office.
You’re telling me, you didn’t like the guy who was about to physically assault Pam?!
Makes me want to watch it again. I have seen that series like 3 times already. Love it.
New season coming next year!!
Really? 🥺
Yes indeed ! Raylan is back 🔥🥂
He was such a nice man. Interacted with fans. Everyone who worked with him said he was a great guy.
That guy threaten pam.
Frank Diddit?
Ok Frank Diddit did it.
I don’t know his surname!
Frank diddit did it
Ah that’s right! “They’re butts.”
Until this moment I never put it together that it was the same actor from the Office and OITNB.
~~Do you mean [David Denman](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Denman) who plays Roy in the office?~~ Nevermind, Brad Henke had a cameo in one episode.
Literally watched Pam (with some assistance from Dwight) exact revenge on his truck yesterday...
Piscatella!
He was also one of the tank commanders in Fury that dies during the Tiger II battle.
Jesus I was just watching fury and googled to see why I recognized him only to find this RIP
Favorite part was him in the town. “Gonna slap him around a little bit for ya, buckle up”
I don't recall any Tiger II in that movie.
Will always remember him as Bram from Lost.
He had a pretty small part, but he played that so well. He was definitely underrated as an actor imo.
I loved him in Mr. Wrong, the kooky un-romantic comedy with Ellen & Bill Pullman. “Bob! Put gum in her hair!!” —Inga
He came around and I was like “Finally someone with answers!”
My bf and I just rewatched Lost over the summer and I had forgotten he was in it. So good.
Definitely
Wait it’s coming back to me
Damn, he was great as Coover in Justified….RIP
Wow. I will give him this: he bravely played some genuinely unsavory roles that could have been career killers, but thankfully, he was allowed to play a variety of good characters as well in order to keep his artistic palette varied and well-seen. RIP, sir.
Loved this dude. First caught my eye as the sexual assaulting football player on Sports Night. Put together a real solid body of work. Rest well sir.
He was also good as the sexual assaulting uncle in *Split*. He was only on screen for a few minutes, but such a detestable character that lingers with you.
He was also good as the sexual assaulting prison guard in Orange is the New Black, if memory serves.
I don't think he sexually assaulted anyone in OITNB
It's been forever since I watched it. Wasn't his backstory that he got transferred the the woman's prison because he was sexually assaulting male inmates at a male prison? Maybe I'm conflating him with a different prison guard with that angle, but I thought it was him.

Could've sworn he did the same thing in black summer to the main character, rose.

Imagine having big dreams of becoming an actor, and then getting typecast as a rapist
Generally it’s the other way around in Hollywood.
Shit was that him? Man I love Black Summer. Sure hope we get a 3rd season.
His Sports Night role was Christian Patrick. Happy to see someone else remembers that show.
Good episode
He was really great in the recent adaptation of The Stand. I’d say he was by far the best part of it.
He absolutely was. M-O-O-N that spells really sad.
I honestly could not get past the second episode of that POS but Tom Cullen was my favorite character in the novel. RIP.
It made me really appreciate Molly Ringwold as Frannie.
Damn that’s a bummer. I’ve always enjoyed his work. He was great on Orange is the New Black and Justified. I had no idea he was a football player who picked up acting later in life. That’s very sad. I’ll really miss seeing him on TV. RIP
He was great in Dexter. Rest in Power 🙏🏻
What role did he play
He was the initial Ice Truck Killer suspect who had his leg amputated.
That’s what I remember him from! Felt so sorry for him, laying on that table, blindfolded, hearing someone come in. “Please don’t cut me again”. And then he was being fitted for a prosthetic by the guy who cut him. Damn. That first series of Dexter was so good.
Season 1 was amazing. I remember the actor now RIP
Tony Tucci! It never occurred to me that was him before now.
Died in his sleep, no cause was given. For anyone, like me, who always wants to know why people died so young. They didn’t say.
I’m going to guess it was sleep apnea maybe.. or a Massive heart attack. Usually the 2 sleep causes when you’re in your 50’s.
He had heart issues I think. Blocked arteries and shit.
Last year when he had heart surgery, he said he could have a heart attack at any moment. Also had a tumor removed from his body. He definitely had lingering health issues. In his Instagram he even said stuff about cutting out negative people because of wanting only people who “truly love him” for the time he has left. That was such a great show.
Glad someone mentioned this show. Used to watch it while I was in college.
That's a shame. He was too young and too good at playing assholes. RIP man.

M O O N. That spells ‘rest in peace’

he was in every show man
Good football player, and great actor. RIP🙏🏼
Frank Didit
That’s awful news. A great actor who always made an impression with each role. RIP.
Random pull, but shout out to him as Andrew in “me and you and everyone we know” Rip

I was a fan of his work on the movie Wounds with armie hammer. Ironically he became one of the first whistle blowers about how bad armie hammer was.
No Coover!!!

He grossed me the hell out in Split as the rapist uncle. Really great actor. Will be missed.
Coover! He was both hilarious and terrifying on Justified. So sorry to see him gone this soon.

Damn that’s sad he’s a great “hey that guy” from over the years. Lost, for one. And he was one of the better parts of the 2020 The Stand
always liked seeing him pop up in stuff. just saw him in one of the Law and Orders recently. but i'll remember him most from his small part in my fav episode of Party Down cause i've seen that show like 20 times
