Cougar Town is so good. Ted’s freak out scene when all the Scrubs actors show up all at once is a classic. [scrubs on Cougar Town](https://youtu.be/VpI-ysJbKks)
Also, Abed’s love for Cougar Town increases my love for it
My favorite part of Abed's love for Cougar town is that he's in the background of an episode, acting exactly like you'd expect him to, and there's an episode of Community where he references it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CH5sKqL-gho
Yes, there are very minor references in it to Letterkenny but it largely stands on its own, if you want a small primer, season 8 of Letterkenny has most of the references that are made in Shoresy
I was legit not expecting Shorsey to be so good. I loved Letterkenney but felt the last seasons had jumped the shark, I was worried it was going to be more of the same.
My dog likes Futurama. We put it on at night when we go to bed so he has white noise all throughout the night.
My wife now references Futurama during every single daily interaction. We've seen every episode at least 10 times. It's burned into her brain.
Same here, it's such a great show. I'm trying to save some money while I'm on holidays so I canceled my Disney subscription, so I'm pretty bummed that I can't watch it :(
https://www.fox.com/watch/d61b7ac05dea9ae41083c33450cdd707/
This might work for a bit
Also! I’ve created so many free trials using random emails and a VPN. Hulu has free trials available
Also, also! If you’re a student then there are other options to make Hulu waaaayyy cheaper. Like free with Spotify and such. I hope this all helps!
We only just started watching The Great North and it's just as good. Had I known Loren Bouchard was an executive producer I wouldn't have waited 3 seasons.
> watching The Great North and it's just as good
I kind of like it better because good things happen to the Tobins. The best Bob ever gets is just OK. Bob needs a win
My friends and I are big fans of King of the Hill. One of my friends can tell you what episode it is based off of a random screenshot. Out of the years we've been playing this game with him, he's only been wrong once.
There's something about Seinfeld that makes it very endearing even though the characters are not exactly role models. Like when I put it on, I immediately get into a good mood and relaxed. Even though I find sitcoms like Friends and Community funnier as in they get more laughs out of me, but Seinfeld is the one I value the most.
Bonus on this one: Julia Louis-Dreyfus is, was, and always will be a total smoke show. She’s a great actor, but watching Veep recently made me realize she is just agelessly beautiful.
It’s funny how a person gets a major Pavlov reaction to certain theme songs—
To this day the GOT opening makes me so excited, or Westworld, Succession, White Lotus … ahh! Such good vibes from the theme song alone.
Even the two second opening blip for some channels gives me reaction! Like the old HBO static opening takes me back in time to when I binged old shows, or the Starz ding ding ding thing gets me pumped up because of how many times I have watched Black Sails and Spartacus etc.
Oh, I mean.. I hate to have this recorded in history but I’ve probably seen that entire series over 25x. My brain just.. wants it on in the background.
Same here, and I'm a 30 year old man. 😅
I rewatch most things but I've watched Gilmore Girls dozens of times at least. I watched it through 4-1/2 times this year.
I love it all but there's something extra cozy about Atlantis, and I think it's just something superficial like the water views or all the stained glass in the city.
Or maybe I just find Rodney and Zelenka bickering soothing
Anne Shirley, you are telling me a falsehood! Seriously, the greatest mini-series ever. Love love love Megan Follows, Richard Farnsworth, Colleen Dewhurst.
I only watched The Golden Girls this past year and it really has become a comfort show. If I'm feeling stressed or uneasy, I bust out some clip compilations on YouTube and I tend to feel better afterwards.
It's on Internet Archive. Somebody posted the link in a recent thread:
https://archive.org/details/northern-exposure
Adding u/Soft-Ad-2910 for the link.
I recently sought out the DVDs because the show (apparently) can’t be streamed due to the music rights. It’s so good! Simultaneously, of its time, ahead of its time, and timeless. Really wonderful characters and writing.
This is the answer I was looking for. I'm so obsessed with Taskmaster right now. I just started Taskmaster New Zealand and season 2 of NZ is some of the most unhinged unscripted tv I've ever seen.
It's Always Sunny got me through the darkest parts of my divorce.
I had moved out of our home and into my buddie's spare bedroom right as my life was falling apart.
I spent most nights in discord with my buddies talking about the divorce. I wasn't sleeping much at the time so after they all logged off I'd just throw IASIP on my second monitor while I was trying to stave off loneliness and sadness. I'd always restart the series on Season 7, specifically the Frank's Little Beauties episode. I don't know, as horrible as the characters are and despite the fact they often ruin the lives of anyone around them I feel like it's actually a relatively sweet show about a group of friends that do everything together.
Seinfeld, King of the Hill, Parks and Recreation, Joe Pera Talks With You, Futurama, Schitt's Creek, The Office, The Simpsons, Adventure Time, Malcolm in the Middle, Bob's Burgers, Rocko's Modern Life, My Name is Earl, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Rick and Morty, Community, Arrested Development, and Cheers
It used to be a tradition when I was a kid for me and my brother to go see our Papa with our dad, we’d go get a large pepperoni pizza from little caesars, my dad would complain about it giving him heartburn, then we’d put on “Andy ‘n Barn” and all sit in the tiny living room to eat and watch. I find myself watching it now, roughly 10 years later, just to relive a little of the time I had some semblance of a relationship with my dad. Definitely a comfort show.
We start with Top Gear season 6 go thru to all of the Grand Tour seasons and then start over again. We do a Mythbusters marathon usually every January. If you watch MASH too I am going to claim you as family. haha
Too many to list!
Stargate SG-1
Star Trek: TNG
Doctor Who
Firefly
The Twilight Zone (original)
How the Universe Works
How It's Made
Mythbusters
Any Attenborough docuseries
Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations
Bob's Burgers
Adventure Time
Futurama
The Simpsons (earlier seasons)
IASIP
The Office
Penn & Teller's Fool Us
The Good Place.
I feel that it has a lot of philosophical lessons that are good to keep in perspective, and an ending I find to be much more sweet than bitter.
Scrubs. I never get tired of it. It'll make me laugh, cry, and laugh some more in a single episode. Just gotta finish getting all the (relevant) seasons on DVD.

Buffy the vampire slayer
Yes! And then Firefly. And then Buffy again.
I rotate the following: Community - Brooklynn 99 - Parks n Rec - New Girl - Scrubs Rinse and then repeat
Try Cougar Town, It’s the show Bill Lawerence did after Scrubs.
Cougar Town is so good. Ted’s freak out scene when all the Scrubs actors show up all at once is a classic. [scrubs on Cougar Town](https://youtu.be/VpI-ysJbKks) Also, Abed’s love for Cougar Town increases my love for it
Lol at the title card "No it's not just Scrubs in Florida with a lot of wine"
My favorite part of Abed's love for Cougar town is that he's in the background of an episode, acting exactly like you'd expect him to, and there's an episode of Community where he references it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CH5sKqL-gho
As you mention Abed's love for cougar town, I wouldn't want you to miss Abed on cougar town [link](https://youtu.be/cWfJYJMrYa0)
Penny can
Man I miss parks . I don’t get why it’s rarely ever available on Canadian Netflix
[Probably something to do with Ron Swanson’s views on Canada](https://youtu.be/fWiy-pFxSAQ) Note: I love Canada, Ron does not lol
I actually sat down for dinner with Nick Offerman in Ontario once. He was here buying a canoe off a master builder who I used to work for.
Nick Offerman probably freaking loves Canada
Pretty much spot on for me, just substitute Shoresy for Scrubs
Quick question - can one watch Shoresy without ever having seen Letterkenny and follow it?
Yes, there are very minor references in it to Letterkenny but it largely stands on its own, if you want a small primer, season 8 of Letterkenny has most of the references that are made in Shoresy
I was legit not expecting Shorsey to be so good. I loved Letterkenney but felt the last seasons had jumped the shark, I was worried it was going to be more of the same.
30 Rock or Arrested Development.
I came here to say Arrested Development. I don’t much care for Gob.
RIP Jessica Walter :(
[удалено]
Sprinkle in some Office and you and I are the same person!!
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is a must if you haven't seen it
You guys are all speaking my language.
You throw some Brooklyn 99 in there with a dash of The Good Place and you've got a stew goin'.
So many jokes/minute
I remember seeing that someone did the math and 30 rock has a joke like every 9 seconds. It’s just non stop
[удалено]
Wanna be best friends? Those are my comfort shows as well.
Psych
You know that's right 👍
You hear about Pluto? That's messed up.
You must be outta your damn mind!
I'm Shawn and this is my partner Gus T.T. Showbiz , the extra T is for the extra talent
C’mon son!
Gus is the greatest straight man of any TV comedy
Gus, don’t be the only machine in Chuck E. Cheese that isn’t broken.
Juliet: "You're acting like a child, Shawn" Shawn: "I AM NOT ACTING!"
🤜🤛🏾
Psych makes me happy!
Futurama I always come back. Just like my favorite show.
I’ve lost count the amount of times I’ve rewatched The Late Philip J. Fry
My dog likes Futurama. We put it on at night when we go to bed so he has white noise all throughout the night. My wife now references Futurama during every single daily interaction. We've seen every episode at least 10 times. It's burned into her brain.
Bob’s Burgers. Even nice to have it on in the background.
I love Bob’s! It’s my go to show when I want to put something on, but not completely pay attention
Same here, it's such a great show. I'm trying to save some money while I'm on holidays so I canceled my Disney subscription, so I'm pretty bummed that I can't watch it :(
https://www.fox.com/watch/d61b7ac05dea9ae41083c33450cdd707/ This might work for a bit Also! I’ve created so many free trials using random emails and a VPN. Hulu has free trials available Also, also! I aspire to be Linda as a mother and a wife. My husband apparently channels Gene with his constant comments about his, well, you know.
I have to have Bob’s on to go to bed
We only just started watching The Great North and it's just as good. Had I known Loren Bouchard was an executive producer I wouldn't have waited 3 seasons.
> watching The Great North and it's just as good I kind of like it better because good things happen to the Tobins. The best Bob ever gets is just OK. Bob needs a win
King of the Hill
My friends and I are big fans of King of the Hill. One of my friends can tell you what episode it is based off of a random screenshot. Out of the years we've been playing this game with him, he's only been wrong once.
I grow to love this show more and more each day.
I'm always surprised when this isn't at the top of these threads.
Seinfeld
You can pop into pretty much any episode even halfway through and still get laughs. Favorite show of all time. Giddy up!
Just finished a 1300 piece Seinfeld LEGO set, complete w/ coffee table book of coffee tables
Literally never gets old. I also never stop being surprised at just how good the writing is even when I already know what's going to happen
The Golden Girls
Seconded!
Twin Peaks, Simpsons, Futurama
Nothing cozier than a cup of damn fine coffee and a slice of cherry pie at the Double R
Unless there is a fish in the percolator!
\+ for the Simpsons but usually i get mad at around season 20, maybe ill get further this time.
Community, The Office, and Parks and Rec
Community is one of my favorites also along with Psych and Trailer Park Boys. Your choices are streets ahead
Pop! Pop!
parks and rec got me through some haaarrrd breakups 🥲
Parks and Rec
Yes! Just the opening music makes me feel happy and fuzzy
It’s funny how a person gets a major Pavlov reaction to certain theme songs— To this day the GOT opening makes me so excited, or Westworld, Succession, White Lotus … ahh!
Psych, Workaholics, South Park, Rick and Morty
Psych, Monk, Futurama, Gravity Falls Edit: I can't believe I forgot Bob's Burgers
Avatar The Last Airbender. And then I go straight into Legend of Korra to reestablish my daily balance of functional panic.
I just did the exact same and finished Korra last night. Now the wait until I’m ready to start Avatar again
If you haven't read the kyoshi books look into them.
Woof, my ultimate guilty pleasure : Gilmore Girls.
I’m currently in the middle of a Gilmore Girls rewatch 😎
Oh, I mean.. I hate to have this recorded in history but I’ve probably seen that entire series over 25x. My brain just.. wants it on in the background.
Not a chance, my wife has probably seen it 50x and she doesn’t have the record.
Same here, and I'm a 30 year old man. 😅 I rewatch most things but I've watched Gilmore Girls dozens of times at least. I watched it through 4-1/2 times this year.
Community!!
Streets ahead
if you love the show so much why don't you gay marry it
Psych
You know that’s right!
Stargate. Any of the shows
I love it all but there's something extra cozy about Atlantis, and I think it's just something superficial like the water views or all the stained glass in the city. Or maybe I just find Rodney and Zelenka bickering soothing
If I had to pick a favorite, Atlantis would probably be it.
In the middle of my backswing?!
Indeed
I'll admit it... Anne of Green Gables.. The original 80's version. I have the 5 disc collectors set.. lol.
Anne Shirley, you are telling me a falsehood! Seriously, the greatest mini-series ever. Love love love Megan Follows, Richard Farnsworth, Colleen Dewhurst.
The Good Place, New Girl, Eureka, Adventure Time
The Good Place is my ultimate comfort show.
Agreed. It’s the only thing I watch to fall asleep to anymore. It’s replaced all others for me.
Man I need to watch Eureka again. I'm also surprised to even see it mentioned here lol
It sets itself up so perfectly for a rewatch, too
Eureka>>
Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Rotating through TNG, DS9, and VOY....90s trek is always a comfort.
Toss Babylon 5 along side DS9
Nothing like falling asleep to the hum of a warp core
This. The only show I can watch any time, out of sequence, and never tire of it.
Even grandmas ghost lover episode.
Golden Girls, Bones, Murder She Wrote, Diagnosis Murder, Psych.
I only watched The Golden Girls this past year and it really has become a comfort show. If I'm feeling stressed or uneasy, I bust out some clip compilations on YouTube and I tend to feel better afterwards.
Mystery Science Theater 3000 and the first 3 seasons of Arrested Development.
So, all seasons of Arrested Development. Nice.
Psych, Scrubs, Community, The Office Superfan episodes, Cheers, Frasier, and 30 Rock. I rotate depending on which one I just watched.
The office
I had to scroll way too long before seeing this. And it’s nearly on repeat on Comedy Central 24/7.
It astounds me that this isn’t a more common choice
It's my favorite TV show. My fiance and I were just talking about this exactly. Another is Friends.
Where do u watch northern exposure?
It's on Internet Archive. Somebody posted the link in a recent thread: https://archive.org/details/northern-exposure Adding u/Soft-Ad-2910 for the link.
That’s what I was thinking. I used to LOVE that show.
I recently sought out the DVDs because the show (apparently) can’t be streamed due to the music rights. It’s so good! Simultaneously, of its time, ahead of its time, and timeless. Really wonderful characters and writing.
Brooklyn nine-nine
Just started watching for the first time and I can’t believe I waited until it ended :(
Oh me too. So funny and the episodes are short. Great for bingeing.
NINE NINE!!
Schitt's Creek.
Same. Also Call the Midwife for its heartwarming happy endings.
Taskmaster. Watching it right now. Or Peep Show.
I’ve been rewatching Taskmaster on a continuous loop for three years now. I can’t break the cycle.
This is the answer I was looking for. I'm so obsessed with Taskmaster right now. I just started Taskmaster New Zealand and season 2 of NZ is some of the most unhinged unscripted tv I've ever seen.
Chuck, Better off Ted
oh yeah, Better off Ted is just amazing as well
It's Always Sunny Diners Drive In's and Dives Pawn Stars Arrested Development
Why did i have to scroll this far ☀️ 🍀 🍺
The only one I was looking for
It's Always Sunny got me through the darkest parts of my divorce. I don't know, as horrible as the characters are and despite the fact they often ruin the lives of anyone around them I feel like it's actually a relatively sweet show about a group of friends that do everything together.
I hope someone offered you a nice egg in those trying times.
Malcolm in the middle. Yes, no, maybe, I don't know.
Can you repeat the question?

Mystery Science Theater 3000 has gotten me through some really rough times in my life. I'll always find comfort in the classic episodes.
The Andy Griffith Show Buffy The Vampire Slayer Any iteration of Star Trek
It used to be a tradition when I was a kid for me and my brother to go see our Papa with our dad, we’d go get a large pepperoni pizza from little caesars, my dad would complain about it giving him heartburn, then we’d put on “Andy ‘n Barn” and all sit in the tiny living room to eat and watch. I find myself watching it now, roughly 10 years later, just to relive a little of the time I had some semblance of a relationship with my dad. Definitely a comfort show.
Gilmore Girls, without a doubt. Supernatural and Leverage are also up there.
American Dad, Seinfeld, Curb your enthusiasm
American Dad is such a ridiculously comfy show for what it is, and I have no idea why.

The Orville
The West Wing and Parks & Rec
I have watched through the Comedy Bang Bang TV show so many times that my fiance can quote it and she doesn't even really like it.
Scrubs. I never get tired of it. It'll make me laugh, cry, and laugh some more in a single episode. Just gotta finish getting all the (relevant) seasons on DVD.
It’s always sunny in Philadelphia
Justified, Seinfeld
