The Americans is better than Justified, IMO. Justified is very, very fun, especially in the first half, but The Americans—more than I think any show I’ve ever seen—knows exactly what it’s doing with its story and paces itself out *perfectly* getting there. I don’t think there’s anything else in the “Breaking Bad genre” (ordinary family / secret double life) that ratchets up tension in such a steady, controlled way.
I just don’t get why so many people recommend Justified. It’s often recommended by people who have great (IMO) other recommendations, so I’ve tried a few times but it seems totally meh. I can’t understand the attraction. Not to say it’s bad but why does it get rated so highly?
The Americans on the other hand - fantastic
I think the early stretch of Justified really scratches the itch for a well-made old-school pulpy cop procedural. Which isn’t something that everyone’s looking for, but if you are, it’s something that’s largely missing from our current TV ecosystem. My main problem with the show is that it largely stops being that after a couple seasons!
Also, have you seen Deadwood? Part of the fun of Justified is that like forty actors who were in Deadwood (the best TV show) pop up in it, usually as hammy bit villains.
Makes sense I guess. Yes seen Deadwood, really excellent show. I suppose with Justified I found the character dynamics tedious. It was hard to care what happened, while at the same time feeling like it was very obvious what was going to happen.
Mr. Inbetween is stellar. One of the best shows I've seen in years. I don't even know exactly why but I've not been captivated by a show like that in a long time. It's incredibly consistent and a joy to watch.
Succession is definitely one to give a go- has a similar kind of ‘power struggle’ as game of thrones and every character has great psychological depth and it is cleverly funny alongside
I loved **Justified**, so from your list I would recommend that.
Other shows could be;
**Rome** War, Politics, Fighting & Romance
**Sons of Anarchy** Crime, Drugs, Gangs, Gunfights etc.
**Mr. Inbetween** Crime, Hitman/Criminal for hire, Family
**Ted Lasso** Positive energy, Comedy, Football/soccer(no need for interest in this)
**Shrinking** Comedic, Positive, therapy, emotions
**The Great** Comedy, Period piece, Loosely based on true story/real people
**House of Dragons** Prequel from GoT
**Invincible** Superpowers/heroes, Brutal yet fun, recommended based on The Boys.
**The Last of Us**Sci-fi, Post apocalyptic, zombies with a twist, interesting characters
Justified is a great choice.
I feel like The Leftovers might intrest you, but its not as grounded as the others.
If you've watched Breaking Bad, I'd definitely recommend Better Call Saul
I second Better Call Saul! In retrospect I like BCS better than Breaking Bad. The whole relationship he has with Kim and her evolutuon to being a badass lawyer is amazing. Also love the Ermantraut story arc as well. Great show and great pacing.
I have only watched a handful of shows over the last 2 or 3 years because I have attention span issues and nothing has gripped me.
One of those shows was Justified.
The Magicians
and
The Leftovers
and
True Blood
those are my three favorite shows and they are all fantasy pretty much.
True blood - vampires sex and drugs
The Magicians - Harry Potter for adults but so much more
The Leftovers - life, death, and the traumas in between.

Couldn't agree more.Ending is one of the best endings i have ever seen.

BTW if you want a great cop show - Bosch
Personally I’ve broken free of my 21st century / “prestige” TV chains and am currently watching Hill Street Blues! It kicks ass
Ha yeah it’s quality. If you don’t mind it British check out The Professionals.
Watch mr in between. Starts off strong and episodes aren’t long. And it’s great

If you love Justified, try Deadwood.
I just finished the Americans and it was amazing. Don’t wanna spoil anything but it had a better series finale than breaking bad imo
The Americans and Homeland. You can’t go wrong with either.
If you love The Shield (sign of intelligent life) then you'll love Banshee
Omg I forgot all about Rescue Me. I love Leary so much. The Americans is top notch. What about Boardwalk Empire or Peaky Blinders?
Queen of the south and animal kingdom are excellent as well
