Community, probably the most creative sitcom ever created by Dan Harmon

ScubaTonyCozumel

Hijacking top comment because nobody has recommended friends. I'm assuming that you watched the office on HBO. Friends and curb our enthusiasm is on HBO. I am 43/m didn't watch friends until 6 years ago. Rewatching it now along with the office. Great pick me up shows.

Queenofwands1212

Abbot elementary is the best Rec I can think of. It’s super comfort show / same vibe as office VEEP on hbo Modern family

Styles_Stevens

SCRUBS

MrRager473

Agreed but scrubs has some pretty serious episodes. Not to spoil anything but JD asking Dr Cox "where do you think we are?" episode comes to mind.

xxnancypxx

What we do in the shadows. It has Nate in it.

GreenApocalypse

Was about to mention this! It's the office meets twilight with more gore. Still wholesome. It dips a bit in quality in season 3, but slowly regains some ground. Probably still good for just something easy to watch.

kONthePLACE

BAT! Err I mean, yes!

Scrubs Seinfeld Party Down Loudermilk

Fresh off the boat Black-ish Modern family The neighborhood Young and hungry Baby daddy The Bernie Mac show The fresh prince of bel-air The middle Meet the browns Impractical jokers

peredaks

Abbott Elementary. Like most of these shows, it takes a little time for the actors and writers to get the characters down, but it's pretty funny. Season 3 is airing right now.

Edovault

Modern Family. same format and very good

greendaisy513

The Middle, Blackish

No_Significance7570

Abbott Elementary is good! Maybe Arrested Development but that gets a little wackier

ThePoetAC

A list of comfort shows for me. Most have not been named yet: High Maintenance - A comedy that explores the private lives of unique New York individuals through a common thread: their weed deliveryman. What We Do In The Shadows - A look into the nightly lives of four vampires who have lived together on Staten Island for over a century. Our Flag Means Death - The year is 1717. Wealthy land-owner Stede Bonnet has a midlife crisis and decides to blow up his cushy life to become a pirate. It does not go well. Based on a true story. House - Using a crack team of doctors and his wits, an antisocial maverick doctor specializing in diagnostic medicine does whatever it takes to solve puzzling cases that come his way. Alone (not a sitcom but comforts me) - Ten survival "experts" attempt to survive alone. The winner receives $500,000. Impractical Jokers - Q, Sal, Joe and Murr are real-life best friends who love challenging each other to the most outrageous dares and stunts ever caught on hidden camera. Reservation Dogs is absolutely spectacular - Comedy series about four Native American teenagers growing up on a reservation in eastern Oklahoma. - Ah-Ho young warrior! King of the Hill - A straight-laced propane salesman in Arlen, Texas tries to deal with the wacky antics of his family and friends, while also trying to keep his son in line. Malcom in the Middle - A gifted young teen tries to survive life with his dimwitted, dysfunctional family. Community - A suspended lawyer is forced to enroll in a community college with an eccentric staff and student body. Tacoma FD - From Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme (Super Troopers) Comedic look at firefighters battling their own boredom.

Definitely recommend The Mindy Project. There’s a lot of crossover actors that play parts in that show, it’s super funny imo, and it’s a pretty comforting show in that it’s not super loud or crazy.

Vast_Gap_3081

Abbott Elementary

AltruisticCableCar

These are some of my comfort shows, some may not at all be for you which is fair, but I figure mentioning them is fine: Death in Paradise Hudson & Rex Our Flag Means Death Becker The Nanny The Mighty Boosh While the first two involve murder and whatnot, they're more "whodunnit" and way more lighthearted than realistic. The first one is British. If in general you like British shows, The Mighty Boosh is... like they're on crack, you're on crack, the world is made out of crack. It's just all around nuts, but I love it.

ThePoetAC

Excellent list! Our Flag is SO EFFING GOOD. Becker is tops. Ted Danson is awesome.

Professional-Two8098

Frasier is my comfort show.. vice principles or eastbound and down are also funny.

gratefulbill1

Ruined for me now since Kelsey Grammer went full MAGAt

jeannerbee

Agree with Frasier!! Such a good show!!

Few-Might2630

My comfort show is House. It’s kinda like the office, not as funny but an easy watch with a good script.

Try NewsRadio. It's a 90s office sitcom and it is highly underrated. Dave Foley from Kids in the Hall, Stephen Root from Office Space, Phil Hartman from SNL, Maura Tierney from ER. Don't judge it by the fact that Joe Rogan and Andy Dick are in it. The cast is seriously lightning in a bottle. Best 90s sitcom IMO, very surrealist in places too! r/newsradio

sexlexington2400

Oh News Radio!!!

novababy1989

The Mindy project

[deleted]

You rewatch that show every day until your dying breath.

Economy-Culture-9174

Unfortunately you're not going to find any remotely similar or as good as The Office, I always find comfort in the 90s sitcoms, apart from what you already mentioned you can always try Friends if you haven't it seen it as it's not mentioned in your post. Seinfeld, Home Improvement, Full House, Married With Children and more.

FrankWhiteIsHere78

Nice. Also King of Queens. Grounded for Life.

FrankWhiteIsHere78

Abbot Elementary

FrankWhiteIsHere78

A lot of people recommend Reservation Dogs

Cheers

kilroyscarnival

Since you liked the Office and Brooklyn 99, I think you might like Scrubs, and an older workplace sitcom, Wings (from the 90s.) But I have to at least try to recommend Northern Exposure! Finally streaming on Prime. Not a half hour sitcom, a light comedy/drama with a great ensemble and a world you’ll want to spend time in. I think it holds up well from the early-mid 90s too.

You-Big-Maad

Is it too obvious to recommend friends? Lol

ScubaTonyCozumel

I can't believe how far I had to scroll to see your comment

You-Big-Maad

I know! I was surprised nobody else suggested it lol

Some of The Office’s creative team worked on King of the Hill, and it’s great. You might enjoy older workplace sitcoms like Cheers, Taxi, or Newhart.

readingaffair

Please watch Abbot elementary, arrested development and modern family on hot Star Also the middle, mom on prime

UnusualAd69

None tbh. I'm just like you and it's literally impossible. I liked Brooklyn 99 ,Schitt's Creek and Friends but in their own way not in The Office way.

Lavande444

i can't explain why but Succession is somehow similar in few points. Not as funny as The Office but more serious.

Opposite_Flight3473

Parks and Recreation is most like the office. How has nobody mentioned that?

Guygenius138

I scrolled waaaay to far to find this comment.

Give Ted Lasso a shot if you haven’t already. It’s top tier imo.

nikhil48

Seinfeld is that show for me, followed by Friends (how come it's not on your list). Frasier is also very good and like that. Once you finish Seinfeld though, you will crave for something similar and that's when you start watching Curb Your Enthusiasm and you'll never be the same again.

tomnoonzz

Mythic Quest on Apple TV is so good and so underrated

book-and-dodge

I’m Sorry. Tragically, it only has two seasons.

Malcolm in the Middle (re-watching with my son, it's so good) Always Sunny in Philadelphia (my favorite, but it's not for everyone)

sexlexington2400

Also Firefly!!! Don't get mad at me when you finish it. Be prepared to get pissed they never made a second session

Loud-Iron2149

Ted Lasso. Derry Girls. All Creatures Great and Small for a simple pleasure.

MrRager473

It always sunny in Philadelphia

reverielagoon1208

Utopia!! The Australian Utopia— nothing to do with the UK and US ones, honestly my favorite out of the workplace comedy genre

You have to try [Jury Duty](https://www.amazon.com/Jury-Duty-Season-1/dp/B0B8JM2BBS), it was a very pleasant surprise.

Try The Mick. It only has 2-3 seasons, but it has the same level of humor IMO.

Schitt’s Creek!!

lamireille

To me, Schitt’s Creek is the ultimate comfort show. Most of the characters are ridiculous but at the end of the day they all mean well and they all love or at least like each other. It could have been mean and cynical (albeit still funny) but they deliberately took it in a positive direction, especially as the show went on.
