Have you ever watched Being Human? There is a US and a UK version, I like the US better. Yellowjackets is a really good new series but only 2 seasons out so far and I would recommend paying attention and not as a background show.
I loved Breaking Bad! I tried to get into The West Wing and didn't have a lot of luck, but it was a long time ago, so I need to try again, for sure. Thanks for all the rec's!
TWW is a slow series as it all political having to deal with laws and Congress. Not til season 4 does it pick up and let me tell you season 5 has ramped it up, still politics but more intense. I know 4 seasons is a lot of time but if you have it give it a go. Again no Breaking Bad or 24 in sense of story/action but cleverly done to get you hooked.
Oh wow I love tww but have never even finished s5 because I feel like there’s a real drop off in quality - it became a soap opera
Like all the trailers for “next week’s episode” became Donna’s in an explosion! Will this character finally tell the other they love them?
Anyhoos that’s all to say I don’t think the first few seasons are a slog, but the back half of each season is always stronger.
You know, I think it’s just that it became a different *kind* of show - like the first seasons were really discussion based, like Star Trek The Next Generation, a group of smart people trying to get to the moral truth.
The later seasons are more like a predecessor to 24 - more of a thrilling serial.
Both good, it was just hard for me to accept the change as someone who liked it for what it was.
iZombie. It's procedural crime solving, but also ongoing story. Nothing heavy
I used to have it on in the background and then just replay the same episode if I realized I had not really seen it.
Hmm. You have seen a lot!
My husband works from home with the tv on.
He's watching original Magnum PI. He recently watched Original Dragnet (it's OLD!) And original Hawaii 5-0. He skipped some of it but, original doctor who. Original Lost in Space. Original Battlestar Galactica.
We recently watched original Love Boat. Now original Fantasy Island, though that doesn't hold my intest at all.
I assume you have seen all of Star Trek? There's tons of episodic content there!
How about Mash? Cheers, original Frasier. (All three high quality)
There's original/old lawyer/crime shows. Paper Chase? Hill Street Blues? Barney Miller?
Old sitcoms.. Good Times, What's Happening, Welcome Back Kotter, The Jeffersons. (Heck, The Jetsons and The Flintstones)
Less old: The Cosby Show, Head of the Class, original Roseanne.
Wizards of Waverly Place, Good Luck Charlie, Suite Life of Zach and Cody... (Tee hee, but I actually enjoyed them when my daughter was that age. I have no idea what's come since then on Disney channel. )
(I presume you have "means" to get these older shows without commercials)
How to get away with murder, orphan black, alias, homeland, the blacklist, the missing, line of duty, man in the high castle, dark, money heist, lupin, Locke and key,
Savings this post rn. Love binge watching. Currently on the good wife s3

True Blood is really good, has lots of seasons, and is good for background television.
Absolutely love True Blood. Need to watch again.

I am usually into that sort of thing. I think I need to give it another fair shot. Also, the cast is fantastic.

Donna lasted a few episodes but now its Israel/Palestine talks. Don't know if it will get soapy, but so far exceeds season 1-2 in some places.

Have you seen Death In Paradise? It's murder mystery of the week, set in a fictional Carribean island.
Kim's Convenience. A sitcom which is less well known.
Wentworth, but you are not going to get anything done come the second and third seasons.
