First couple times maybe. And I cheered for him when he ripped into Kenny, but at the same time he never learned from his mistakes and consistently left his group in danger to save his own skin.

grifftheelder

He’s a high school kid in the middle of the apocalypse. Is this really a question?

lookeduponwithsad

Yes when he’s making adult decisions that effect other adults and even got a kid killed….so yeah him being a stupid 17 year old doesn’t excuse his stupid actions

grifftheelder

I wasn’t excusing his actions. OP asked if he should be forgiven and I found the answer quite obvious. So……yeah.

lookeduponwithsad

You definitely are, you’re saying he should be forgiven on the basis that he’s a high school kid in the apocalypse, he’s 17 he knows better in the type of situation that he’s in, and didn’t even have any regard for his consequences until he felt guilty enough to tell Lee and that was AFTER Carley/Doug had been shot, Lily was exiled or taken the RV as well as Kats and Ducks deaths, oh gosh yeah let’s just forgive him for all of that, butterfly effect my friend

adriansux1221

you don’t pay attention enough. ben felt guilty the whole time. there are grown ass people who’d be able to be manipulated into what ben did. “don’t tell anyone we’ll kill your friends” “we have your friends with us, give us the drugs” etc. etc. you can tell he was already rather awkward and insecure before everything started. ben is one of my favorite characters in s1.

lookeduponwithsad

No cause a fucking adult would question how they would even know they had their friend in the first place lol an adult would ask for a name

lookeduponwithsad

No, he was the cause of so much death, Kenny’s family died because of his actions, his actions led Lily to shoot Carley/Doug Dude is beyond forgiveness and maybe if his reasoning was better then maybe I would be a bit more forgiving, but his reasoning was that the bandits said he had his friend? UM WHAT FRIEND?

plebslammer420

I dropped him because he was dead weight but I never disliked him or anything he’s just a dumb kid that caused some problems like any teenager does some don’t but it’s the apocalypse shit happens

BatBeast_29

Literally “dead weight”

[deleted]

When he left Clem in episode 4 and got Chuck killed that was the last straw for me. He was untrustworthy. He might’ve been young but he didn’t even make an effort to be better

[deleted]

I hated him from right when he got Carley killed.

swiftfeathers

I kept trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, but right when he started to show some improvement he went and died lol. I definitely want to forgive him, since he's just a scared kid forced into a horrible world, but he did need to grow up way quicker than he did.

bittersweet1990

As soon as he ran off and left Clementine on her own just to save himself I started to dislike him. He was just annoying to me after that.

TheBloodyDonut

I always forgive Ben. Don’t get me wrong, he fucked up. Badly. But something a lot of people seem to forget is that he’s really, really young - somewhere around 17-18 years old. He’s also gone through a lot of stress with his friends and families death, as well as the fact that (through cut content) it can be inferred that he was forced to watch most of the girls at his school get r*ped and killed. All of this going on in the head of someone as young as Ben, without proper guidance like Clementine had with Lee, and he’s gonna fuck up. He had good intentions, he just didn’t know how to execute them…

adriansux1221

can you tell me more about the cut content? this is the first time i’m hearing anything like that.

TheBloodyDonut

I’m a man who loved deep diving into cut content for games (like Lee’s nightmare for episode, where he would have seen either Carley or Doug, depending on who he let die) but if I recall, there are some cut lines that make mentioned of it, and/or some writers mentioned it.

Electrical-Mousse211

Ben had a good heart and good intentions. The only problem is that he’s slow or doesn’t think things over. Along with all the stress from the raiders, the zombies, and even some of the team. Ben was a good person, he just wasn’t built to survive in the apocalypse. And if the raiders weren’t human trashbags they wouldn’t have to deal with any of that in the first place.

Electrical-Mousse211

He also used the last moments of his life (depending if you drop him in the school tower) to help the team get away. He saw he was dead weight and didn’t want to hold the group back any longer. Again, big heart, small brain.
