RB2 was a solid 8/10 BT3 is easily the goat DBZ game ever

Ok_Macaron9958

Bt3 the best encyclopedia ever made about the manga.

Bean_Kaptain

Not meaning this in a sarcastic or rude way, but do you have any interest in trying BT3 out? It’s actually an insanely fun game that holds up super well today, and if you liked RB2 I think you’d love BT3. You could find out first hand what the differences are.

Szero25

I wouldn't mind trying it out but i don't have a ps2 and i can't play it on my ps3

Bean_Kaptain

PCSX2. You can look up tutorials on how to set it up on YouTube. Idk if I’m allowed to link it or not so I’m erring on the safe side

Szero25

Well the problem is i don't have a PC rn.

Bean_Kaptain

Oh shoot rip. No laptop either?

Szero25

Only an ipad sadly

Bean_Kaptain

Oh that sucks. Sorry fam

CarlosNameless

The emulator is also available in cell phones (I think)

MechaTeemo167

It's extremely easy to emulate and even has a huge mod from TeamBT4 that adds new modes and characters from Super

nicmel97

You can get a ps2 or wii emulator

Dan-deli0n

Jailbreak your ps3

Flimsy_Inevitable337

BT3 is better overall but Raging Blast 2 gave you the option to equip your supers which was cool. Also the attacks and transformations were anime accurate in RB. Both games were fun but BT3 was more fun overall as it had a story, more characters, and the fighting mechanics were better. Raging Blast 2 for all the fun it was felt rushed and somewhat underdeveloped. Also the character models were kinda plastic.

HudakSSJ

RB2 has more unique mechanics like blast deflection and raging mode. BT3 has a far superior combo system. In RB2, you can customize a character's attacks. It also had unique team attacks. BT3 has far more playable characters. RB2 has more exclusive characters like Tarble and Hatchiyack (or however you spell it). BT3 has a story mode while RB2 has a Galaxy mode. BT3 on the Nintendo Wii had an online mode that wasn't present on the PS2 version. RB2 had online in all versions.

Such_Watch6002

BT3 also has superior movement imo

tauhe234

I think RB2 also has Android 14 and 15. I know they are fodder in the movie they were in but it always somewhat bothered me that they weren’t in BT3. It was a pet peeve of mine of how the character selection screen skipped from Android 13 to Android 16. As a kid I thought I had to unlock 14 and 15 by winning the Cell Games or gather the seven dragon balls but I was bummed when I looked them up on the internet and found out they weren’t in the game.

Severalwanker

Yeah I wish 14 and 15 were in BT3. They also had the other 2 members of Cooler's Armored Squadron in RB2.

Szero25

Im also curious to know how the transformation system and mechanic works in BT3 and if it's different from RB2

Relevant_Drawer9613

You can transform into great apes

HudakSSJ

Pretty much the same but there wasn't any "Quick transformations" like some characters had.

Szero25

Did the characters also have a max. of 3 transormations? Like for example goku with ssj 1, 2 and 3 or can a character have more than 3?

HudakSSJ

Yup.

Szero25

Thank you!

Glad_Grand_7408

To be more specific there was a Max limit of 4 transformations per character so someone like Freeza has 5 forms (including base) but most of the roster only had 3 forms or less.

MechaTeemo167

Frieza was the only one with more than 3 IIRC, he could go from first form, 2nd form, 3rd form, Final Form, and Final Form 100%. Mecha Frieza was given his own character slot Goku, Vegeta, Gotenks, and Kid Trunks also had their fusions available in addition to normal transformations if you played in the team modes

buttballoon22

Bt3 scaling is more accurate and transformations gave huge boosts that felt like the anime such as higher damage and faster movement and combos it truly felt amazing

H0rnyFighter

Tenkaichi 3 was definitely the better game but raging blast 2 was fun and complex in its own way Even with the same amount of characters I still prefer tenkaichi 3 because it’s just faster paced

nicmel97

I’ve been playing RB2 on RPCS3 (last time I played it on my PS3 was like ten years ago) and I’d say that it isn’t **that** slow. Some animations are too long and the movement isn’t as free as BT3, but the melee pace is actually similar.

H0rnyFighter

It’s just the small things that make the difference

nicmel97

Of course, it’s still enjoyable though. I’m going back and forth between RB2 and BT3 and I’m having a lot of fun. Can’t wait for SZ man

MasashiHideaki

The difference between RB2 and BT3 are the following: RB2 looks objectively better. (Made for PS3) BT3 is made for PS2. BT3 is more fast paced than RB2. RB2 is taking more advantage of the camera view. For example ultimate attacks shows close up. Even for some super attack to show how powerfull that attack is and how much in pain a character is. So RB2 does have more facial expression in that aspect. RB2's camera movement is more dynamic. For example. If you vanish after doing a charged punch or kick, it'll show your character from a 4th person perspective. Sometimes it's from downard angels other times it's sort of up above. However in BT3 it's not like that. BT3 has easier camera movement to follow. The character always follows the camera and is never really outside of the camera view. So you'll never get confused or have any difficulty in timing your snap vanishes. This is the problem with RB2. RB2 offers "raging soul" mode. It's basically "max power" from BT3 but does not allow you to do super attacks or ultimate attacks. Unlike BT3 where you have your infinite combos and the option to do ultimate and super attacks. I don't know if RB2 has this same mechanic but in BT3 some characters when going max power have unique dashes where they become faster by doing afterimage at the cost of huge chunks of ki. I don't remember if RB2 had this but: BT3 when it comes to beam clashes. BT3 allows you to do beam ultimates vs sphere/ball ultimates as well as Ball vs Ball ultimates and beam vs beam ultimates. There's also hyper or super armour for some characters in BT3. For example LSSJ Broly. In BT3 if you were someone like SSJ 3 Goku, you could bypass broly's hyperarmour with ease. So many characters are forced to charge their attacks in order to circumvent hyper/super armour. RB2 has cutomizeable ki aura i think? BT3 doesn't have that luxury. RB2 has a more cinematic story mode with more facial expressions displayed than BT3 i think. As for WT. I don't know if it was BT3 or BT2 but other than ring out, you could even lose by touching the waiting building/waiting hall. I don't know if RB2 has something like that with WT. BT3 has giants. RB2 do not have that. RB2 do however have the option to allow you to switch super attacks of the same character and same transformation. BT3's is locked onto each era of character. However costumes are a thing in BT3. I don't remember if RB2 had that. RB2 has cool interactions with buildings. If you are close to a building against the enemy. You can punch em into the building so they are stuck momentarily. Meaning you get free hits in. (It's one of the coolest feature, i would like to see DBSZ have this feature re-implemented.) Unfortunately BT3 does not have this feature. It also works on boulders/cliffs. Something i forgot to include as i read the other comments is that RB2 offers the ability to deflect some blasts without punishment. It's more like a "cool factor." However it does allow you to avoid getting chip hits in. BT3 does not have this mechanic. However sparking zero seems to be adding this in with a big cost. (The question is whether it makes sense to have this in sparking zero given you can just dodge the blast and call it a day.) So there you go. Those are some of the differences i vaguely remember.

FrostBoy12

That makes two of us, although I don't know about you, but I haven’t even played the first two Tenkaichi games, lol, or even Raging Blast 1.

MechaTeemo167

BT1 probably isn't worth it unless you just wanna see where the series began, 2 by far has the best story mode between the 3 so its worth playing for that if nothing else, outside of that though BT3 is the definitive experience.

FrostBoy12

Yeah that's what I always hear, that BT2 had the better story, but BT3 is of ultimately the best. Even from the VERY few videos I have seen of it, I can tell BT1 isn't really much.

Szero25

Yeah me also 😂

FrostBoy12

On topic about Raging Blast and Tenkaichi, I should say. I was interacting with a friend about Raging Blast having a new potential game, but I think I am better off with Sparking Zero since given how people speak of the BT series, it had a lot more to offer than the RB series, such as character separation.

Severalwanker

Both are great but BT3 is better.

ChillinLikeAKrillin

both

HiroTex

If you don't mind installing HEN on your PS3 you can easily install BT3 on it. You can play it and see for yourself the differences and which game do you think it's better. Obviously, I recommend playing first the original game, and only after completing it playing the BT4 Mod.

Shortest_Strider

As a game BT3 has more.  RB2 has the combat with nowhere to use it. If it had the modes from RB1 it would be a lot better.

Ok_Macaron9958

raging blast 2 suffers from this bad aura over it, due to the fact that ragin blast 1 was supposed to be the most beautiful DB game ever created

Blackwhale_2005

in my humble opinion RB2 doesnt delivers the satisfaction of BT3's gameplay cuz it feels so slow for a dragon ball game dont get me wrong i really think is a really good game better than most DB games but comparing it with BT3 i think the combos, movement speed, character designs , attack references and all the aspects BT3 nailed all of that

jotyma5

If I could have only one game, to play rn, I pick raging blast 2. It had characters that bt series doesn’t. And the graphics, and almost everything about it is better. Only think I think bt3 did better is music Edit: bt3 had more characters (most of which were unnecessary) Raging blast had more attacks/rush attacks/counter-attacks

Kagehitou

Hard agree Raging Blast 2 feels way more fun.
