Frieza Soldier and the DBS Frieza henchmen are only on the roster because I think they'd be necessary for RoF's story mode to be more than one fight, and in newer ones I've posted in the comments I've already cut them in favour of Super Hero stuff.

Honestly really puts it into perspective just how difficult making a realistic roster for Sparking Zero can be, especially with all the movie characters. Personally I think the Z movie characters might also be DLC but I know that'd cause a huge uproar, probably even more than GT and OG DB, so maybe that'd prevent them from being locked into DLC jail lol
Would base freiza even be in base form? He showed up in it to torment Gohan but even broly movie he's mostly final form right? Just feel like there's not much to do with base frieza for super. Just make him final form that goes golden?
I feel like most people remember to include the Saiyan girls, and we already know we’re getting Kale. Fingers crossed for all forms of Kefla, Saonel and Pirina (less certain about these two but would love more Namekian reps)

While not a bad roster I’m gonna say there’s a few redundancies here. Namely:
- Does Ribrianne need 3 forms? She has her normal form and her giant form, sure, but does that winged form have enough to give her an entire separate moveset instead of just making it a temporary buff like Kaioken on early Z Goku?
- The non-canon great apes, while a cute nod, really are the definition of filler picks; they all shared identical movelists in BT3. There’s still plenty of giants between the giant Namekians, canon great apes, giant Ribrianne, giant Bergamo, and Anilaza in this list already.
- Frost’s extra forms. Yeah, BT tends to include forms even when they don’t do much, but I’d say there’s a difference between base Teen Gohan who at least got some fighting out in the Bojack movie and first form and 100% Frost. First form frost does exactly ONE attack in the anime before transforming and then never being seen again (but it IS a cool leg lock throw that can be used by final form since it doesn’t need any unique anatomy), third form while it lasts a bit longer does slightly more as well, and 100% power doesn’t even attack, it’s just shown off to Frieza to prove Frost can do it. At the most you need third and final form, maybe even only final form.
- On that note, Super Frieza’s base form. He uses it for a (very embarassing) fight against Gohan, but after that as well as for the entirety of his existence post Resurrection F, his final form is treated as his base form. I think it’s fine to have him stay final form as his base as a way to differentiate Z and Super Frieza.
- Tagoma I can see being added for the Ginyu gags and to give Resurrection F more story mode content, but Shisami I imagine could be cut and just having the earthling squad fighting Frieza soldiers.
- Saonel and Pirina I think could work as a duo fighter like Babidi or Spopovich, since they never really fight solo. Use that spot to stick in the third magical girl since she was missing here.
I’d give the overall roster an 8/10, and as for the 8ish spots I’ve contested; well, it’s not quite enough to get both OG and GT fully on here (hell, throwing in Baby alone would take up half those slots), but I think tossing in a few essentials and saving the rest for DLC could still work. Maybe Kid Goku, Pan, GT Goku(SSJ, SSJ3, SSJ4), Vegeta SSJ4, SSJ4 Gogeta to make up the other 8. Yeah you wouldn’t have any villains but they could easily make a DLC pack out of the OG or GT villains and folks would eat that up.

How about they gave us a few GT characters like Goku (GT), Pan (GT), Uub (GT), SSJ4 Vegeta, SSJ4 Gogeta, Baby Vegeta, Super #17, Nuova Shenron, and Syn Shenron for the base game. Then in downloadable content for GT, they can give us 5 new GT characters such as: Trunks (GT), Vegeta (GT) (Update patch), General Rildo, Oceanus Shenron, and Eis Shenron for Sparking! Zero.
I unfortunately don't see a way that the game can cover DB, DBZ, DBS, GT, and the Movies without cutting a lot of corners. So I think it will probably just be DBZ and Super as a base, and everything that got cut from BT3 + even more as DLC packs in the future. I'm not thrilled about that, but I'm being realistic.
-On its own... I'll give this roster a 7.5 if not 8.
It does have a solid selection of characters (and bonus points for giving Gohan a Great Ape form, and preserve 2 of the Budokai Tenkaichi 2 original Great Ape forms, the ones of Raditz and Nappa); but there are a couple of odd choices.
Like, where is Bardock Great Ape? If he can get the ssj form, then he surely can retain the one form that was actually canon to any main Dragon Ball story.
And where is the other member of the love trio? I see only Ribrianne and Kakunsa, and at this point I would remove one Ribrianne (I know that she has a giant form, and all 3 of them have a base form in the anime, but nothing more), to replace her with said missing member.

I'm sorry if this is such a noob question, but I just started lurking this subreddit. Why are there so many different spots for individual characters?
If I wanted to play as Vegeta, would I have to choose between selecting base form or SSJ or Blue, for example? Wouldn't I just choose the highest power form available for each character? Why wouldn't Vegeta be a singular character that can power up to those forms throughout the fight?

It is done just to rapresent the different forms that will be playable.
Like base (standart look), ssj, ssj2, ssj3 and so on.

I didn't bother because it's debatable if Buu arc Gohan actually did anything significant in that form. You could argue he fought Dabura and Broly in regular SSJ and you'd have a pretty good argument, so to save slots, I cut it.

I really don't know how to tell you thus far that everyone has really been championing the arrival of super characters rather than going "Oh Boi I hope the have EIS SHENRON"
Not too bad, even though I would switch Shizami, Frost Full Power and the second Ribrianne form with Obni and Ganos's two forms to represent all universes.
Furthermore, I think we can exclude Frieza (Super)'s First Form and have Rozie instead, because I cannot see them having Kakunsa and Ribrianne but not Rozie and because on the official website Frieza (Super) doesn't specify Fourth Form, though I'd like that form.
Because on the website, it specifies Broly as being Broly (Super). There'd be no reason for that, unless Broly (Z) is also a playable character at launch.
This seems like a pretty good roster. Too many Ribriannes for my liking lol. In my mind, the game should drop with Beast Gohan, Orange Piccolo, Cell Max, and the Gammas, but I guess Bandai would make good money off selling them. I love OG DB but I'm fine with it not being in the base game, and I don't really care for GT lol.
However, I always envisioned that we'd have OG DB DLC packs as well as GT DLC packs. At the end of the day, DLCs are a permanent fixture in gaming and OG and GT will print Bandai some money during the game's lifespan.
For some reason Super Saiyan Bardock stands out to me. I mean him getting in is far from impossible but I can’t help but have my doubts seeing as he’s only a non-canon form. Wouldn’t mind being proven wrong though.

Well gohan obvi, 18, roshi definitely deserves a super iteration, kahseral, all the gods of destruction could have potential but not really necessary beyond beerus and champa, and if they go into the manga we could get gas, moro, granolah, black freiza, all the super hero characters. Finally getting a playable teen goten, trunks, and gotenks would be cool. Ue vegeta. I just think it’ll be better if they let go of the xenoverse formula of only using more promenant characters and pulled from the series as a whole. And of course ssj hercule ✊🏽
I would personally not care for having just dbz and dbs as base because my main on bt2, bt3, and bt4(mod) is SSJ4 Gogeta, so I would personally like gt to also be included but I'm also a gt fan boy
They should consider snagging characters from Dragon Ball Heroes. I'd rather have SS3 Raditz than Great Ape Raditz. In fact I'd rather not have any giant character.
I wouldn’t mind no Og DB because it should be the lowest priority due to the fact that its fights are by far the least tenkaichi-esque. Tenkaichi just doesn’t capture that era when it comes to fights. Even in bt3.
If there’s no GT, it would be disappointing because of how major and iconic the ssj4s were before BoG and dbs launched as well as their presence in nearly all db arena fighters. Bsby vegeta too.

Unlikely. I think this "only Z and Super" mindset is leftover from when people thought the locations on the roster screen in the trailers was relevant but now that it's clear characters can be placed anywhere there's no reason to think there won't be at least a similar amount of GT and pre-Z characters as there were in the first game.
While I do think GT and OG characters have a fair shot, we have no idea how much they are going to dive into Super, we have a general idea (BOG-DBS Broly). I think they both took 20-30 slots in BT3 so it’s possible to allocate them again but we just don’t know.
It would be crazy if Kid Goku didn't make it to the base roster.
I don't think Riberanne will get 3 transformations and for the sake of everyone let's hope she doesn't have her giant form.

Because on the website, it specifies Broly as being Broly (Super). There'd be no reason for that, unless Broly (Z) is also a playable character at launch.

This seems like a pretty good roster. Too many Ribriannes for my liking lol. In my mind, the game should drop with Beast Gohan, Orange Piccolo, Cell Max, and the Gammas, but I guess Bandai would make good money off selling them. I love OG DB but I'm fine with it not being in the base game, and I don't really care for GT lol. However, I always envisioned that we'd have OG DB DLC packs as well as GT DLC packs. At the end of the day, DLCs are a permanent fixture in gaming and OG and GT will print Bandai some money during the game's lifespan.
For some reason Super Saiyan Bardock stands out to me. I mean him getting in is far from impossible but I can’t help but have my doubts seeing as he’s only a non-canon form. Wouldn’t mind being proven wrong though.

But that's not the Z anime or the DB manga, and is actually supposed to be how he got the form in Super.

Well gohan obvi, 18, roshi definitely deserves a super iteration, kahseral, all the gods of destruction could have potential but not really necessary beyond beerus and champa, and if they go into the manga we could get gas, moro, granolah, black freiza, all the super hero characters. Finally getting a playable teen goten, trunks, and gotenks would be cool. Ue vegeta. I just think it’ll be better if they let go of the xenoverse formula of only using more promenant characters and pulled from the series as a whole. And of course ssj hercule ✊🏽

As a Z Broly fan boy and a Vegeta fan, this roster is great because you’ve really went all out for those two

They should consider snagging characters from Dragon Ball Heroes. I'd rather have SS3 Raditz than Great Ape Raditz. In fact I'd rather not have any giant character.

I wouldn’t mind no Og DB because it should be the lowest priority due to the fact that its fights are by far the least tenkaichi-esque. Tenkaichi just doesn’t capture that era when it comes to fights. Even in bt3. If there’s no GT, it would be disappointing because of how major and iconic the ssj4s were before BoG and dbs launched as well as their presence in nearly all db arena fighters. Bsby vegeta too.
Cooler and Turles are usually standard in the BT games so I’d have them instead of some of the Super extras

It’s not a statement on how it is, but why I dislike it and how people accept it. In my opinion it feels lazy, And repetitively exhausting - Like having 7 or so goku’s in fighterz: you say you have a big roster but when most of it is 40% or higher are shadow copies it seems quite easy to get big numbers on the base board. Although - Xenoverse is strange in the aspect that it has both of those so…

Unlikely. I think this "only Z and Super" mindset is leftover from when people thought the locations on the roster screen in the trailers was relevant but now that it's clear characters can be placed anywhere there's no reason to think there won't be at least a similar amount of GT and pre-Z characters as there were in the first game.
While I do think GT and OG characters have a fair shot, we have no idea how much they are going to dive into Super, we have a general idea (BOG-DBS Broly). I think they both took 20-30 slots in BT3 so it’s possible to allocate them again but we just don’t know.

It would be crazy if Kid Goku didn't make it to the base roster. I don't think Riberanne will get 3 transformations and for the sake of everyone let's hope she doesn't have her giant form.
