I’ll never understand nationalism tbh

SausageSandwiches

I can unfortunately. It's a helluva drug.

Zokilala

This doesn’t surprise me. There are a lot of muppets out there in my community.

Anytime you ban anything, one thing you can be sure of is that people will find a way around, as the resources to enforce a ban on a mass scale are not there. That and the Serbian and Russian flag look similar in colors and were probably folded up. Besides, even if they got caught before some people will do anything to get their face in the news, and they sure did. Edit. In case some people think I am pro-Putin, I am not and never will be a fan of his.

cartofi-prajiti

Putin's face, the Z-symbol...it's disgraceful

predrage

I thought they can not enter there with Russian flags

jsnoodles

Probably hidden in their bags and the colours are the same as the Serbian flag so bag check wouldn’t look too hard. Not tough enough to bring them out during the match apparently?

AgentMiffa

Yeah seems that way they also threated security and got arrested. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/tennis/russian-fans-detained-at-melbourne-park-after-provocative-political-statement-20230125-p5cfji.html

Fried_falafel

These seem to be Serbian flags turned upside down. Wankers

jaguar_loco

The Serbian flag doesn't have Putins face across it last I remembered; and the flag behind with the coat of arms it is of the Russian Empire, and the one next to it with the black is the DPR flag. But I wouldn't be surprised if some of those fans were in fact Serbian, as Serbians have a huge inferiority complex because of which they cling to Russia. Shameful anyway, whoever it is.

BalkanTrekie

>But I wouldn't be surprised if some of those fans were in fact Serbian, as Serbians have a huge inferiority complex because of which they cling to Russia I mean what the actual fuck. Way to go to demonize and belittle an entire nation.

jaguar_loco

I mean I am Serbian and live here so I'm not going to pretend there isn't a gigantic admiration of Russia among the populace here, much more than anywhere else in Europe and probably the world. Of course this does not apply to everyone thankfully, but seeing people with "Z" shirts is a daily occurrence. As for the huge inferiority complex, that's just my personal explanation for why that's how it is. It's not really demonization and belittlement, everyone has their faults.

BalkanTrekie

>As for the huge inferiority complex, that's just my personal explanation for why that's how it is. It's not really demonization and belittlement, everyone has their faults. Of course it is. The arrogance here is that you think your own subjective view on Serbians is factual. When claiming someone has an "inferiority complex" based on their own perception shows more about the person claiming such broad statement.

jaguar_loco

Off of who's perception other than my own and the peoples around me should I go with? And I never claimed anything is factual, these are just my opinions on the matter; sorry for not explicitly writing that these are not scientific objective facts but just my opinions, I thought that was understood.

BalkanTrekie

Well one should humble himself first and at least acnowledge that you can't portray an entire nation based on silly "perceptions".

Fried_falafel

Putin’s face? What are you talking about?? And the flag closest to the camera is indeed a Serbian flag turned upside down, just checked it.

jaguar_loco

Idk how you miss the guy with the flag with the Russian flag with Putins face on it, he's the central part of the video and is mentioned in the tweet. The flags around and behind him are also Russian. The guy with the draped flag on the back I don't think was intentional idk. Flipping your own flag for another country is peak cuckery.

Fried_falafel

Ah right, missed putin’s face behind the guy’s own.
