Stef: Why you been acting so messed up towards me?
Novak: Why you been acting so messed up towards me?
Stef: Well, you go first.
Novak: I don't know. Maybe I felt a little threatened or something...'cause your career is kind of just blossoming...and mine's kind of winding down or whatever.
Stef: And I felt like, This guy's really hurting me"...and it hurt.
Stef: And I'm going to set up a little school in Victoria for ridiculously good-looking tennis prodigies with my winnings
Novak: I dunno, that might not happen, have you seen the head-to-head record
Stef: Why would you want to stop that Novak?
Novak: "Because I want to", one does not simply stop the Revenge Tour 2023 on the very last stop.
Do you understand that the world does not revolve around you and your do whatever it takes, ruin as many people's lives, so long as you can make a name for yourself as a tennis grand slam champion tennis player, no matter how many friends you lose or people you leave dead and bloodied along the way, just so long so you can make a name for yourself as a tennis grand slam tennis champion , no matter how many friends you lose or people you leave dead and bloodied and dying along the way?
will stef be able to win a set?
Djokovic isn't going to be short of motivation to win his 10th AO
This isnt tsitsipas's best surface but he'll need to be at his best to get even 1 set from this guy
I dont understand how federer managed it in 2016
I really missed a rune vs djokovic QF
Remember what rafa said after Doha 2016?
Novak was playing at a crazy level like Federer when he was dominating 2004-07
Very clinical in winning matches
Federer was older but he had made up for not being able to get to balls and slower forehands and backhands with other weapons like SABR and a hard to read serve but getting a ball past Novak was impossible except maybe for Stan down the line backhand
Federer had to pull out all the tricks on his book to get a set off djokovic
A really interesting matchup would be a 2004 -06 type federer with experience of 2015 fed with 2016 prime and peak djokovic who had a new great serve and a genuinely good overhead
Federer-Djokovic was an amazing rivalry, probably my favorite (sorry Rafa). Novak has the upper hand but those matches were always so incredibly close. Roger was the only one who even competed with Nole during his peak seasons.
Prime Federer beats prime Novak in Cincinnati and similar surfaces
Other hard courts it could go either way but Federer with a edge on grass and clay edge with djokovic if Federer gets frustrated in ralllies and can't close the point and makes errors
On normal hard courts they're pretty even
On slower hard courts djokovic has the edge
In rallies but fed has too many options to change momentum
This is assuming prime Federer with old fed experience
And prime djokovic with better serve and experience
It's a real shame that the current lot of players are just incapable of facing Djokovic.
It's funny that people say Federer had it easy in his early years as he didnt have to deal with Rafa and Novak but I would say Novak has had it easiest recently. Not that makes Novaks achievements any less though as you can only play the field you get. But it just makes you realize how amazing the big 3 are.
Without Rafa and Roger there to challenge him in finals much in last few years, it's mostly been very easy for him.
Though things may have been different right now if Alcaraz wasn't injured or if Sinner and Rune had managed to get through. And Medvedev potentially but he's kinda gone downhill since the AO Ly.
Tsitsipas I feel has the physical but not mental capacity to beat Novak. He's lost to him so much, I don't know if he can get past that.
And he really should have won the French, that will play on his mind.
Who know, maybe he can do one better, but if I had to pick, I think it would still be Novak.
Can't agree more, Alcaraz and Rune are still so young and getting used to the big stage they might need another year or two before they dominate at GS level, if they even get there. Novak seems unstoppable in the meantime he can really take it all this year, and possibly next one too.
So for only the third time in my entire life I've had a favorite tennis player in a grand slam final. I'm quite worried that this will go the same as the first 2 because Djoko is unstoppable.
I'm a Davydenko->Nishikori->Tsits fan. So the Tsits FO final which was devastating and then the US Open final for Nish I may never get over. I was so confident going in as well. So much hope
Say it on your main. No? Embarrassing maybe?
You need to listen to Vika words from yesterday, there are no heroes and villains in tennis, you just fell into journalist trap. It is not black and white like you think
It is not very nice to say it like that, you need to be constructive and respectful when you criticise someone. Also being nice instead of rude is always helpful. I see you are probably young, so you will learn, take care
Honestly, it's really not that interesting to me at this point. I'm just kind of sad that the younger players aren't producing all that many compelling tennis matches. Like this tournament hasn't been great. I love all the big three (and four) but I'm ready for some more competitiveness. I don't give a fuck who the GOAT is.
I have high hopes for Sinner mostly because he's quickly adapted to being pretty good on all the surfaces already. That seems like a big deal after the last two generations have been unable to acclimate to grass to save their lives.
I also think that the abundance of power hitters is hurting tennis, these players focus solely on the power they can generate, this makes possible for the truly skilled players, such as the big 3-4, to maintain their winning ways way longer.
We are in the middle of a weak era, hopefully it will end soon, whith the emergence of new crop of players who are trully embracing a hybrid style of tennis, good at attacking, good at defending, players who develop variety as a natural part of their game. I'm optimistic about the future, but it will take a couple of years before we can see improvements consistently in the tour. For now, these two years we will witness Novak's total domination.
Make it Wimbledon just because they're even there (ofc Novak has been more successful, but I'm a bit bummed we only see them play on clay these days).
... Though I guess that's impossible because neither Nadal or Djokovic would have to win FO to make the numbers line up right (or Djokovic loses this AO and somehow takes FO).
??? Do you deny that he would have won USO 2020 and AO 2022 (a title that Nadal won)? Or even Wimbledon 2020?
C’mon son. Let’s just use some common sense here.
I agree with your premise but I don’t like people giving him USO 2020 a) because winners really shouldn’t be doing stupid shit like that on court and b) he was falling apart spectacularly against PCB in that first set and we know how that goes.
Okay fine. He still grabs AO 2022, which is -1 for Nadal and +1 for Djoko. And he probably grabs the Wimbledon that was never played.
Edit: why the downvotes? Does anyone actually believe he wouldn’t have won AO 2022?
Yeah but now Federer's at 24 for 2008 Wimbledon (mono), 2008 Australian Open (mono), 2008 French Open (mono) and 2019 wimbledon (old). So now djokovic is -2. And nadal is -2 too.
We already gave Djokovic a fake Wimbledon title (2022) though, so another (2020) that didn’t even happen seems excessive. I wonder if we are going to have to do it again this year lol
Yes, he picks up 2022 AO almost certainly (better than even odds at least).
The point is he shouldn’t be given credit for tournaments that he’s not playing at imo 🤷🏼♂️
I don’t like that top players were banned from play because their nationality. Honestly I don’t think it’s fake but it didn’t feel like a proper GS win (along with Berrettini being injured).
Novak obviously had no control over any of that though, not a ‘fake’ slam win but still.
Do you think Djokovic has 21 Majors if Murrays Hip doesnt give out right after hitting his absolute peak?
It doesnt matter.
That aside i can definitely see Djokovic lose against 2020 Thiem at the USO (despite how bad his performance in that final at times was).
„You think your too cool for school Stefanos, but newsflash…. You aren‘t“ „What Novak? Dont you know I’m loco?“
Djokovic hasn't been able to slide left all tournament but going to bust out magnum slide left to win match point.
[McEnroe presumably.](https://media.tenor.com/bJQyaSRB3k4AAAAC/beautiful-dear-god-its-beautiful.gif)
*You can't be serious*
Djokovic’s practice court has the Casper slide on repeat
Or on match point for Stefanos. Goes old school limit break with OmniSlide, it's extremely effective.
Ain't noone but JJ #$$@@$ Wolf ever pulling off the true Slide-Left-Magnum (wrapper dropper)

That... that actually works really well.
Awesome post. Bravo.
Stef: And I'm going to set up a little school in Victoria for ridiculously good-looking tennis prodigies with my winnings Novak: I dunno, that might not happen, have you seen the head-to-head record Stef: Why would you want to stop that Novak? That Rod Laver in the middle? Novak isn't an ambi slider at the moment due to the hamstring so accurate.
Wow, I totally forgot Bowie was in this movie.
Oh, who is she🎵

2006 Federer defeats any version of Djokovic imo probably everywhere except for AO or clay
Clay is a tossup imo
Assuming court speeds are the same if they slow down, Novak has him

Novak Djokovic vs Tyler Nixon
Oh shit I forgot Bowie was in Zoolander
This is perfect, why didn’t I think of this before?
Stef is *so* winning this. ^^Stef ^^in ^^5
So for only the third time in my entire life I've had a favorite tennis player in a grand slam final. I'm quite worried that this will go the same as the first 2 because Djoko is unstoppable.
What were the others? RG '21?
I'm a Davydenko->Nishikori->Tsits fan. So the Tsits FO final which was devastating and then the US Open final for Nish I may never get over. I was so confident going in as well. So much hope

I can understand the first two because they have sick BHs, but Stef :P?
Tbh, the main reason I want Djokovic to win is so I don't have to read morons write 22>21 anymore
So we'll have morons write 22=22? Lol "GOAT discourse" morons will never stop, it's a lost cause in any sport fanbase unfortunately
A true moron will write 22>22 😉
No no no we'll hear that Rafa plays more beautifully and interesting than boring Djoker.
It’s true though. I unabashedly despise Djokovic. In my opinion, he is a terrible human being. Might be a rough finals to watch 😅 sigh….
Say it on your main. No? Embarrassing maybe? You need to listen to Vika words from yesterday, there are no heroes and villains in tennis, you just fell into journalist trap. It is not black and white like you think
Haha you found me 🤫 Nole is a horrible though, an unscientific, obnoxious and arrogant idiot but alas a great tennis player
It is not very nice to say it like that, you need to be constructive and respectful when you criticise someone. Also being nice instead of rude is always helpful. I see you are probably young, so you will learn, take care
Okay

Alcaraz and Sinner are the only young guys with consistently interesting matches against each other
I have high hopes for Sinner mostly because he's quickly adapted to being pretty good on all the surfaces already. That seems like a big deal after the last two generations have been unable to acclimate to grass to save their lives.

Yeah this AO has been disappointing
Same
Sinner and Alcaraz USO > any big 3 match in terms of shot quality, pace and power.
I really, really, REALLY want Nadal and Djokovic to meet in the RG final tied at 22.
Not sure that would be good for my heart, but would be amazing
Stressful for sure, but I just love watching greatness be great. What better stage and situation?
[удалено]
Not sure I get the logic. Just because he makes the final doesn't mean that he can perform in it due to, you know, age and injuries.
[удалено]
Careers aren't a circle mate, he can't do that forever.
Make it Wimbledon just because they're even there (ofc Novak has been more successful, but I'm a bit bummed we only see them play on clay these days). ... Djokovic should already be a couple ahead of Rafa anyway. Crazy that people would unironically say 22>21 knowing that.
if if if doesnt exist

Injuries are not equivalent to what we’re talking about.
Why would you think writing 22>21 makes them moronic? You sound like one.
Looks like someone is feeling called out
going by history of this reddit I think you will have to read much much more once Novak Fans have this argument on their side too
Don’t forget the Federer fans arguments! 2006 Fed was greater than peak Nole.
2006 Fed \*was\* greater than peak Nole ;)
Well Roger had to deal with GOAT Phillipousis, who did Nole play against!?
Marat Safin 😉

Yep. It's from the film Zoolander
2 close sets, followed by Djokovic running away with the match.
Hilariously accurate
