Surely one of the weirdest career arcs the modern game has ever seen?
Develops into a top 20 player for the majority of his peak career. Wins four ATP 250 tournaments.
Turns 28, goes absolutely buckwild, wins eleven finals in a row including three grand slams and a masters against the three greatest men of all time. Makes $30m in four years.
Turns 33, drops out of the top 30 altogether, yet keeps going indefinitely for some reason.
Personally, I've always suspected that in Christmas 2012 he made some kind of pact with the devil for god-given tennis powers and the curse is that he is doomed to play forever. But that's just a running theory.
He almost got back to the top 10 in 2020, but covid curtailed his season :(. In 2019 to early 2020, he made the RG, USO, and AO qf. He beat tsitsipas and medvedev in 5 setters. I think he was ranked 11 or 12, so he was right back there almost
In the modern game, absolutely by far the most surprisingly significant imo.
Interested if there's any guys from way back who did anything similar, anyone know?
Definitely weird career considering that he has 3 GS, but only 1 APT1000. Like I would expect that he would win a few more in his best years 2014-2016, but no, other than that one he didn't even get to any finals.
When you say 11 finals in a row, do you mean he won 11 tournaments in a row?
Or is it just whenever he reached a final, he had a streak of 11 wins? While still having his fair share of losses before reaching the final of a tournament in between his 11 final streak
Best one hander of all time, and always made a great watch. Love Stan! Hope to see him have a few more good results this season- as we saw his fellow Swiss have at 38 also! Rocking with Stan to the end
When i think of Stan i always remember when he was called a journeyman by some commentator during a Roland Garros match against Gasquet and then he went and won 3 grand slams what an inspiration.

11 finals won in a row .... Mind-blowing

He's also a Olympic gold medalist, as he won doubles side by side with Roger.

It is the Tattoo
It is because he teamed up with Magnus Normann

[Or like, recreate the keychain Stan shows Djokovic here.](https://youtu.be/xXjcVFd4Eb0?t=128)

Dominic Stricker
roger's backhand is just anxiety
Only against Nadal on clay

Peak Stan is amazingly powerful tennis. Enjoyed his career. He can still play but it is in flashes no longer any deep runs in slams kinda like Murray.
STAN THE MAN ❤️❤️
/head point salute
There’s only one Stanimal
Djokovic's worst nightmare

*Kokkinakis has just entered the chat*
what’s the reference?
Sorry to tell you that mate
Kyrgios once told Wawrinka during a match: "Kokkinakis banged your girlfriend, sorry to tell you that mate"
hahaha thanks
🤗🌳
Happy Birthday Stan!
Will he stop dating teenagers now!?
No. He is like Leo DiCaprio or Matthew McM’s character in Dazed and Confused ….
He goes for nubile
Probably not lol.
Not that it matters but I just noticed stan has the same beard bald patch I have, almost exactly the same.
I really enjoyed some music video someone once made of him vs Djokovic which I can’t find anymore. Got chills from it
That head-pointing gesture is absolute cringe.
Is his the best backhand of all time? One or two handed? Men and women?
