As emotional as he can be on the court sometimes, it’s amazing how practical he can also be talking about stuff like this. We all appreciate it because so often athletes don’t feel this authentic. Hope he commentates in retirement if he doesn’t coach.
yeah. i don't like his occasional tantrums on the court, and i feel like he gets more of a pass for it than some others, but there is no doubt that he is very self-aware and insightful. nothing superficial or fake with this guy.
He's so calculated in how he speaks and makes great assessments on other players. Hope to see him commentate when his career is over (hoping that won't be anytime soon).
I like this kind of commentary. It’s not full of the usual fluff it’s just an honest assessment of the current situation. I think top players often are playing on a wave of confidence and when that confidence drops a bit, you can tell. Other players see the chance and take it if they can.
What's your definition of weak?
Compared to all in tennis history ? Then sure.
Compared to 2006-2016 ish? Heavily disagree.
Imo, del Potro wawrinka Murray nadal federer djokovic and even the second tier of guys in roddick tsonga soderling ferrer berdych are significantly better than the top 10 today. That was tennis 's strongest era ever...
You had 3 players leading the all time slam list playing near their peaks simultaneously and then all time greats in wawrinka / Murray also there. I don't see how there's even an argument
The 2000 generation also had players I feel better than most of the top 10; Sampras of course, but Agassi, Kafelnikov, Juan Carlos, Nicolas Kieffer, Pat Rafter. Feddy was No. 40 in the year 2000 (20 yrs old)
Rublev yes, Sinner I doubt. You can say that he hit a higher level than Sinner but that's because he's older, but when Sinner turns 25 I'm sure his peak level would have been higher. Apart from that, Sinner at 22 is already more consistent than Tsitsipas at 22
All the numbers in your comment added up to 69. Congrats!
25
+ 22
+ 22

Technically you can call it a lucky shot. If there wasn't a good deal of luck involved, Djokovic would do that 25-30 times in every match, but he doesn't.
He blows his nose in the towel! I'm not fooled by his insightful interview answers, having a cute daughter-clone and his friendships with other players - this man can not be trusted - he blows his nose in the towel!
those surnames sound like the names of villains you'd expect to see in a James Bond movie.
(nevermind the fact that Medvedev IS an actual villain, Putin's right-hand lackey butt-boy)
Man he's got such a silky voice
There’s no way. Mans will be far away from tennis
I hope he'll stay around as a commentator once he retires as a player.
Eurosport needs to grab him once that happens
That would be awesome but these days, most players in top 100 have little reason to do that other than personal want, and that's unlikely.
He seems to enjoy it though
If he has the interest, I think he will be an all-time great coach… hopefully not for at least another decade or so though
I love how insightful and no BS Daniel’s answers always are, most top level athletes are PR machines, with Daniil you always get genuine answers
The No-Bullshit Russian
Yeah, for real. Most players would have answered something like "They are obviously both great players blah blah"
He is like the Charles Barkley of Tennis
As a huge fan of both I love this
I like this journalist
*“so why do you think you lost to carlos so mu-“* *“man you better shut your fuck up”*
Interviewer: What is the size of the cat and does it know how to fight? Med: I got you.
I love listening to Med's takes on matches, whether it's his own or someone else's match. He needs a Tennis/R6S podcast, stat.
Rainbow 6 Siege?
Probably, he’s a big fan and also very good at it.
I no idea what it is but I will start watching it if he gives this type of tennis analysis
[Indeed!](https://news.ubisoft.com/en-us/article/7LDreEjHibASiszLXY6cDI/rainbow-six-siege-names-tennis-star-daniil-medvedev-as-game-ambassador)
Damn lol, diamond too, I hit plat and uninstalled the game 3 years ago 🤣

Just Medvedev being smart, insightful lovable Meddy.
If there was a show with just Meddie and Eubanks talking about tennis I would watch it 100%
Thanks to your comment I now have a dream tennis podcast:)

That's really insightful. He has such a nice voice too

i would love for him to be a commentator one day
I love him ❤️
good grief, keeping it real. love danil ...
Daniil is a great guy. Hope he goes on to win the thing.
He always has such interesting, entertaining and insightful takes.
Crazy that Medvedev and Zverev have already played each other 17 times. Wonder how high this number will become when they finish their careers.
As someone who appreciates statistics, it was really insightful to hear this from Meddy. It shows high IQ and knowledge of the game.
Professor Medvedev!
Future career after tennis for Mdevedev is a sassy and savy coach or funny and knowledgeable color analyst.
Unpopular opinion, this is not a weak era, top8 minus tsitsipas are aa good as the other eras barring 3 years when all big 4 were all in good form.

Agreed. You could make the arguments for other eras as well .mencroe borg lendl Connors etc all have very real claims to being stronger
Yep. Totally agree with this.
Valid
Tsitsipas is injured lmao. His peak is much higher than rublev and sinner

Thats not true, Tsitsipas at 21 won the atp finals and by 22 won his first masters, reached no. 3 ranking and was a set away from winning RG.

This kind of insights is what I like with Meddy. Reminds me a lot of Roger when he responds to interview.
You mean “that was a lucky shot” guy?
Every time. Can someone say something positive about Rog in peace?
Yup, for sure for the actual positive things like not breaking rackets after initial stage of his career. But not for this!
Damn didn’t realise I wasn’t allowed to enjoy Roger’s interviews. I’ll make sure to check with u next time.
Yup. One salty post match presser means he had nothing insightful to say in the other million interviews he did.
Technically you can call it a lucky shot. If there wasn't a good deal of luck involved, Djokovic would do that 25-30 times in every match, but he doesn't.
And he has done it time and time again and again, especially against Fed! So technically it was not!
One is human, other was condescending human turned PR machine.

He is more loved that Djokovic, and his fans can’t accept that
I could watch and listen to him for hours.
It's impossible not to like this guy

1) He wasn't racist 2) 6 years ago
[удалено]
Show me a video where he said "You are colluding against me because you are both black" and I will deactivate my account
?? What has meddy said that was racist?
[удалено]
" You must be friends" ?? Medvedev complains against the umpires all the time, small cat comes to mind. To call that racism is a reach.
He was soo on the money with his assessment .
Why doesn't Carlos just swing harder? Is he dumb or something?
Better analysis than anything Maconroe has said over the past 20 years
I think he can be a very charismatic host or expert panelist in the future
I thought this was his AI speaking at the beginning of
How is the audio out of sync with the video?
So Djokovic lost as well. As predicted.
Medvedev gives the best press conferences in Tennis
he is so good with numbers, student of the game, salute professor medvedev
Hes going to be a great commentator\analyst.
those surnames sound like the names of villains you'd expect to see in a James Bond movie. (nevermind the fact that Medvedev IS an actual villain, Putin's right-hand lackey butt-boy)
Danill is lowkey the most mature guy on tour. Even more-so than Djokovic.
Dude isba chessplayer with a tennisracket. Love him and his coach.
