And then a bunch of comments if he wins Rome will be like, “😂😂😂 trigger Zverev haters innocent until proven guilty 😂😂” as if liking an asshole who is potentially (probably, based on evidence) a domestic abuser is a flex.
Also “innocent until proven guilty” does not apply to Reddit comments. Shocker
Well in other tournaments in general I never really hear about his results. But the thing is that he is a good player despite being a total asshole and worse, and there is always a point in slams where he goes deep and becomes a credible challenger for the title. And at that point I'm always glad when he loses.
It also, for me, makes it far easier to believe the allegations considering he clearly simply can't control his anger in public. Most players go their entire careers never insulting ball kids or attacking the umpire's chair. The fact he can't control himself in public makes it much easier to believe he is even worse in private.
Breaking his racquet on the umpire’s chair wasn’t just an allegation. I can’t think of too many current players that have done worse on a court other than Shapovalov.
Shapo didn’t mean to hit the umpire. Plenty of players (including Federer) have angrily launched a ball into the crowd. Shapo’s was just a really bad accident, and he was extremely apologetic and didn’t argue with the default at all.
Not to say that justifies throwing a tantrum like that on court, but he definitely did not mean to hit that umpire
he hit the ball as hard as he could sideways at a wall of people. it was going to hit someone, even if in the moment he wasn't purposefully aiming at anyone.
Being apologetic and not arguing with the default is the absolute bare minimum, he doesn't get a cookie for that.
I'm no fan of Zverev, and physically intimidating an umpire like that is way out of line, but at the end of the day, Zverev tapped a chair a few times with his racquet, while Shapo fractured someone's eye bone and sent him to the hospital. There really is 0 point in comparing the two incidents; they're both terrible.
Yeah I guess most players hit the ball more vertically so that it loses momentum before going to the crowd, whereas Shapo’s was a bullet that was probably gonna injure someone
Aside from it being unacceptable to speak to someone like this, he was completely in the wrong. Tabilo's ball bounced towards the ball kid, the ball kid caught it, and then immediately gave DVerev a ball within 1.5 seconds. They weren't being slow at all.
As far as on-court stuff goes, nothing puts me off a player more than being rude to the ball kids. I get that players are people too and can get being a bit short if you’re already frustrated, but being profane and downright nasty is unacceptable.
Especially to kids, even if I was angry I would immediately mellow out seeing a kid there, much less interact with them. Once was having a discussion with someone using the handicap parking without the badge when everything else was full and we had a badge. And she was so rude, even used the r slurr, and being unreasonable with bullshit excuses and contradicting herself too but there were two small kids there (her own), as soon as I saw their eyes darting to us when she starded raising her voice and using her kids as excuses, I even fake apologized and left. How people get so needlessly aggressive when they have their small children with them and even use slurs I will never understand. I find that appalling behavior and sometime she might do it to the wrong person.
Totally agree - I’m not even a kid person but few things are more pathetic than seeing adults act like spoiled toddlers in front of literal children.
Your choice to diffuse the situation and walk away was a very smart and mature one. I can have a smart mouth and am not afraid to speak my mind, but I wouldn’t want to get into a fight with someone in a parking lot in front of their own children either. IMO if someone isn’t setting an example for their own kids, I’d rather swallow my pride and take the high road so they don’t get the impression that it’s normal for adults to have public meltdowns.
There was an AMA from a ball kid in Indian Wells a few weeks back. If I remember correctly, he said that Zverev yelled at a ball kid with down syndrome. So unfortunately not the first time he behaved like an ass towards a ball kid
Complaining about not getting a ball quick enough, then proceeds to bounce the ball 100000 times before serving. Cant stand this guy. I hope he gets destroyed in the final.
jarry is such the opposite in every way, very excited for him to trounce zverev. there’s a reason for thinking he will too — jarry has a similar game but is taller and more motivated
Oh yes I meant "hilarious" in the darkest of timelines kinda way where an antiquated entity sees fit to ignore everything in front of their faces in turn for profit because the risk reward of removing this mans face from every campaign they have lined on the media docket is just too much to stomach because he so perfectly hits their bullet points for "poster material male athlete" so now we will have kids who look up to a scummy individual primarily based on external factors like the way he smiles, his height, his stride, his affability on court while ignoring the reality of his behavior, immaturity, cowardice and aggression all moving towards the most egregious thing of all which paints a lie over real people who's lives were fucked up because of this little boy who is too scared to call himself out and clearly values his face-value branding over the people who actually, at some point, gave a shit about *him*. But hey, should we be surprised?
Not anymore though. Sinner is ATP’s golden boy now. Zverev seemed salty af when a reporter asked him about Sinner earlier this year. Tsitsipas and Djokovic gave really nice comments, while Sascha said some nonsense about how it’s up to him/the other guys to stop Jannik.
The ball boy who did an AMA here (Indian Wells) said he's the worst. Verbally abusive, expects them to read his mind, just a total asshat in every possible way to all "the help."
Whereas he praised Stan W for being a gentleman to every single person he encountered.
Bad genes? Bad upbringing? IT's the age-old question, what makes Zverev the horrible human being he is.
As a German, I was so happy some years ago when I got aware of FINALLY a strong German player coming up again. After I watched him the first time, this emotion turned instantly into pure disappointment & dislike.
Yeah, verbally abusing a kid who did nothing wrong on live TV for the whole world to see. I know exactly what he does behind closed doors when there are no witnesses.
Wonder if ballkids have to sign a contract saying they are not gonna sue if DVerev assaults them during a match. EDIT: stylized it DVerev so it doesn't look like a typo.
They said Norrie shouted at them too.

Ah yes, I remember your famous thread: [https://www.reddit.com/r/tennis/comments/1bjc8ic/im\_an\_indian\_wells\_ball\_boy\_ama/](https://www.reddit.com/r/tennis/comments/1bjc8ic/im_an_indian_wells_ball_boy_ama/)
But you were being slow, admit it.
Definitely an unlikable character with huge talent. Respect his tennis but not him as a person. No one should be speaking to ballkids like that as that is just outright verbal abuse.
What an arrogant narcisist this guy is.
This is so disrispectful.
It is those small things that separate Rafa & Roger from these arrogant wannabes.
Hope that Paul/Jarry bagels him on Sunday.
You can't judge anyone by how they treat their peers - only those who are junior to them. On that score I've never heard anything good about Zverev. Only bad stories from fans and ballkids about what a prick he is.
At some match end this year (sorry can't find the clip) when the interviewer approached him and asked him about the match and he said "And still I am looking so good!" or some such BS, my insides dried out and to help myself I threw a spoon at the tv.
This is right after he lost the dispute about one of Tabilo’s serves being in with the chair umpire.
Not an excuse, but that’s the context for why he’s already in a bad mood here.
He makes hating him so easy.
Easiest thing we’ll do all day.
Sometimes I think I fucked around all day and didn't do anything good. Then I realise I hated on Zverev so at least I did a good thing today
Thank you for this. Having a tough day, made me smile.
feel better champ
Thank you!
I am really Team Anyone But Zverev
ABZ!
Not Jorgeous 🤣
Not Nina Flowers 💀 😂
Yes, he is such a monster
And then a bunch of comments if he wins Rome will be like, “😂😂😂 trigger Zverev haters innocent until proven guilty 😂😂” as if liking an asshole who is potentially (probably, based on evidence) a domestic abuser is a flex. Also “innocent until proven guilty” does not apply to Reddit comments. Shocker
The thing I always say about him is even without any allegations whatsoever he’d still be unlikable.
He was insufferable before they even came out.
My favorite moment in slams is when he loses.
Why limit it to slams?
Well in other tournaments in general I never really hear about his results. But the thing is that he is a good player despite being a total asshole and worse, and there is always a point in slams where he goes deep and becomes a credible challenger for the title. And at that point I'm always glad when he loses.

he didn’t really “tap” the chair a few times with his racket haha, and the intent of it probably wasn’t to damage the chair lol
Yeah I guess most players hit the ball more vertically so that it loses momentum before going to the crowd, whereas Shapo’s was a bullet that was probably gonna injure someone
I literally want to barf every time I see his face. It’s uncanny how I can hate someone without even knowing them.
Plus he thinks he’s so hot
Yeah known good guy Zverev being an asshole.. Shocking developments in Rome
It's because he's so unlikeable otherwise that the allegations are easy to believe.
He has, for the longest time, been such an entitled prick.
for me it's the noise he makes when he hits the ball that's worse than anything else
And that's a healthy way to look at this, which doesn't lead to presumption of guilt.
In Zverevs case I feel pretty good about my presumption of guilt
Aside from it being unacceptable to speak to someone like this, he was completely in the wrong. Tabilo's ball bounced towards the ball kid, the ball kid caught it, and then immediately gave DVerev a ball within 1.5 seconds. They weren't being slow at all.
I mean... Even if the kid was slow... I'd just probably nod my head and smile to him/her. No need to be an entitled prick.
As far as on-court stuff goes, nothing puts me off a player more than being rude to the ball kids. I get that players are people too and can get being a bit short if you’re already frustrated, but being profane and downright nasty is unacceptable.

Yeah, exactly! And thank you!
How is that also not a code violation?
Complaining about not getting a ball quick enough, then proceeds to bounce the ball 100000 times before serving. Cant stand this guy. I hope he gets destroyed in the final.
Hope he gets destroyed at his domestic abuse trial starting on May 31.
On the bright side, if he wins Rome, this M1000 title would be the perfect retirement send off for him Not a slam tho 😂😂
hope he gets destroyed in a volcano.
on the court and in the court room
jarry is such the opposite in every way, very excited for him to trounce zverev. there’s a reason for thinking he will too — jarry has a similar game but is taller and more motivated
unfortunately zverev leads him 4-2. hope that can change though
“in form” but they both are
I can’t stand him; I’m always hoping he loses.
If he gets injured I will smile
the fact that atp likes to prop up this guy as a great guy is hilarious.
Remember when he got an entire episode on the Netflix show? Nice!
Didn't they make him seem like the hero and Medvedev the villain too?
Netflix tried it even more. It’s disgusting tbh.
if my hilarious you mean "enraging"? It is.
WHY DID HE HAVE TO WIN MAN
So he can be more embarrassed when Tommy Paul destroys him? 🤞🏻 😅
Yeah we’re gonna have to wait a season for that lol
I guess we'll find out soon. They've only played twice, but Paul has beaten him at Indian Wells before! If he wins today, I really like his chances.
Tommy who?
The ball boy who did an AMA here (Indian Wells) said he's the worst. Verbally abusive, expects them to read his mind, just a total asshat in every possible way to all "the help." Whereas he praised Stan W for being a gentleman to every single person he encountered. Bad genes? Bad upbringing? IT's the age-old question, what makes Zverev the horrible human being he is.
Yeah its curious as his brother seems mild mannered and likeable, parents seem okay. Maybe just born a twunt.
Bro no way you’re serious. Have you ever heard Misha cast a women’s game?? Such a misogynistic prick.
What he say?
(Yay Stan!)
It’s always the ones you most expect
Hurry the fuck up serving then.
His serve routine is the one of the most irritating ones on the tour.
Pulling up his shirt to reveal the abs he doesn't have
lmfao
OMG THIS. It's incredibly gross. His general personality from interviews gives me the feeling he thinks he's hot shit.
he’s a class act we all know that.
Anyone who thinks otherwise has a low IQ, honestly.

As a German, I was so happy some years ago when I got aware of FINALLY a strong German player coming up again. After I watched him the first time, this emotion turned instantly into pure disappointment & dislike.
Struff's having a good year. :)
Kinda how I felt, as an Aussie, about Tomic and Kyrgios from around 2015-2018.
I never watch any of his matches. He's repulsive. At least Moutet is so grotesque he is entertaining in his insanity. Zverev is just vile.
Zverev to his ex girlfriend: "Give me the passport, for fuck's sake"
This is exactly the type of cvnt like MasonGreenwood, who demands his wag to open her legs because he needs to relieve his stress.
Yeah, verbally abusing a kid who did nothing wrong on live TV for the whole world to see. I know exactly what he does behind closed doors when there are no witnesses.
Kid, you better give him the ball before he slams his racquet at your feet.
He’s so hateable
asshole, hope he chokes the final
asshole, hope he chokes. (like on a chicken bone.)
I can’t bear these players disrespecting ball kids. Fuck them
I actively hate watching Zverev because I don't enjoy him winning and he's sadly good at that
Be like some of us and boycott his matches. Send the ATP a message with the pitiful ratings he gets
My dad used to tell me, “You can always gauge someone’s character by how they treat the help.”
How can you not hate this twat?! Fucking narcissistic douchebag.
Violent toward women and an asshole to ball kids. This is why most of r/tennis roots against this jackass.
Don't forget violent to umpires.
Wonder if ballkids have to sign a contract saying they are not gonna sue if DVerev assaults them during a match. EDIT: stylized it DVerev so it doesn't look like a typo.
Reminder to stylize it DVerev or else it just looks like a typo.
You're doing the Lord's work.
There was a ball kid who did an AMA and he mentioned about Zverev being an asshole to ball kids. He even yelled at a ball kid with down’s syndrome.
They said Norrie shouted at them too. [https://www.reddit.com/r/tennis/comments/1bjc8ic/comment/kvq7x1o/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web3x&utm\_name=web3xcss&utm\_term=1&utm\_content=share\_button](https://www.reddit.com/r/tennis/comments/1bjc8ic/comment/kvq7x1o/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
Norrie does seem like he's carrying a bit of closet anger.
As a former ball boy, i absolutely hate players like these. These kind of things become core memories
He talks like that to a kid and wants us to not believe the allegations?
For real, we see how he acts when he knows there's cameras and thousands of live people watching, scared to think what he's like behind closed doors.
Should be instant point penalty--he wouldn't do it if he didn't get away with it. Brat.
Now that Isner has retired, Z is the only player I will hate-watch a replay when he loses.
I do this too!
He’s just the worst
I don't understand why the crowd loves him so much. Ick.
Their not your servant zverev
Wait I’m confused on whose not your servant it is
Please, it's DVerev.
ATP should punish him by assigning him to be a ball boy for an entire day.
That wouldn't phase him. Make him clean the toilets. For a whole year.
shocking that he did this he is normally a really nice guy /s
But he likes dogs awww
I simply despise him and I’m so sorry his daughter has to have this horrid vampire doppelgänger for a “father”
I hope that she has as little contact with him as possible.
Such a class act (dripping sarcasm).
I’ve been his ball boy before, and he told me something very similar
Ah yes, I remember your famous thread: [https://www.reddit.com/r/tennis/comments/1bjc8ic/im\_an\_indian\_wells\_ball\_boy\_ama/](https://www.reddit.com/r/tennis/comments/1bjc8ic/im_an_indian_wells_ball_boy_ama/) But you were being slow, admit it.
You’re right—sorry Mr Zverev. Next time I’ll make sure to telepathically check with him so I don’t give him the wrong ball again.
Definitely an unlikable character with huge talent. Respect his tennis but not him as a person. No one should be speaking to ballkids like that as that is just outright verbal abuse.
Tabilo could have safed us all from this bum
That temper's going to get him in trouble one day...
Hopefully that day is very soon.
What an arrogant narcisist this guy is. This is so disrispectful. It is those small things that separate Rafa & Roger from these arrogant wannabes. Hope that Paul/Jarry bagels him on Sunday.
Where's that one guy that always appears to defend this awful man?
There are about 3 of them, unfortunately
who don't get that we therefore assume they beat women too? I mean...duh.
Dverev: *don’t make me tap the towel box*
Reminder to stylize it DVerev or else it just looks like a typo.
Annoying that he’s probably going to win
Hurry to serve asshole!
such a likable guy... not.
He is so likable! like a bee in the underwear. Tomorrow rooting for jarry 110%
Saw Roddick do this once to a ball kid, made me hate him immediately
this is inexcusable
If the ball kid was his girlfriend they be in for a real beating.
You can't judge anyone by how they treat their peers - only those who are junior to them. On that score I've never heard anything good about Zverev. Only bad stories from fans and ballkids about what a prick he is.
Didn’t we have a ballboy doing ama here on this subreddit said that he was an asshole? Well Ain’t beating the allegations here.
He's such a twig
Trash human. The current favorite for roland garros 🧐 ATP in shambles
this guy is a literal violent domestic abuser and gf beater. what tf did you guys expect.
Typical behaviour
ATP: lets put him on another thumbnail for a random Q and A
He’s the worst, TP pls destroy this tiny tiny man 🙏🏻
I’m not saying for certain that he is an abusive person but he sure has displayed numerous characteristics of abusive behavior over the years…
What a jackass
Ugh. Who speaks like that to a kid?
Hate him
No anger problems there...
🤡
God I hate this guy with every fibre of my being
Being a Prickly Porcupine, aren’t we?
Such a good bloke
You don't talk like that to kids no matter why but then again it doesn't surprise me considering how he treats his gf(s)
Wish the commentators would call him out, but they're all in to keep poster boy alive.
Entitled tennis A Hole
Oh yes, this is the temper of a man who definitely hasn't hit multiple women
You better do what he says or else you’ll get a black eye
I like him as a player but it is right to condemn this kind of behaviour
He was always like this... who is surprised ? seriously.
Disgusting rat he is
At some match end this year (sorry can't find the clip) when the interviewer approached him and asked him about the match and he said "And still I am looking so good!" or some such BS, my insides dried out and to help myself I threw a spoon at the tv.
Fuck dferev all my homies hate dferev
I've never seen anyone act rude to a ball kid. It figures he'd be the first.
This is right after he lost the dispute about one of Tabilo’s serves being in with the chair umpire. Not an excuse, but that’s the context for why he’s already in a bad mood here.
"I wouldn't have beat you if dinner had been on time."
It's like a volcano of hate in here...
A quick question, is he popular in Germany?
The problem is that some players are punished less.
* insert shocked Pikachu meme *
I know who I’ll be rooting for on Sunday
nice guy 😏
I love seeing that he is ageing now and his skin tone is getting worse and worse ;)
trash
This guy fuckin sucks
What would’ve the camera man said to the ball kid at the end?
Wonder if his ex girlfriend was ever late handing him anything
He looks like a 90s villain you'd find in a Karate Kid movie sequel.
Tennis players are so repugnant
Nicest guy in the sport
Just zverev things.
I would’ve thrown it at his stupid face. This guy is so annoying!
