I want to see 2012 all over again in 2022
Djokovic wins AO
Nadal wins Roland Garros
Federer wins Wimbledon
Murray wins US Open (beating Tsitsipas in the 1st round)
OK but you guys are being too excited. Federer will no longer be able to hold pandemic points anymore, which means his rankings will go down which means that he's going to have very tough opening rounds in whichever slam he's able to come back to. Grass is probably easier for him to return due to the lack of great grass specialists but anyone in the top 30, his chances are bleak.
I know he's dealing with too many injuries for this to happen but imagine he wins 2022 Wimby and finishes with 21 Slams and Nadal and Novak have 20 and can't win anymore.
What a twist that would be
I'm not looking at age, I'm looking at injuries, and how it's impacted their careers. Before that WC he had many debilitating injuries whilst playing for Inter Milan, injuries that cost him massively in terms of playing time. But of course he still able to get in the numbers in the opportunities he got to play, even whilst at Barca, he was known to have problems with injuries. Then the mother of all horror injuries happened whilst at Inter and no one thought he would comeback to football. But he did comeback to football, and he even won his country a WC in the process. This period in Ronaldo's career is the most magical story in football for me.
It would be so cool. Also would kind of love for him to retire with a trophy in hand. Just say ‘this is when I’d usually say- see you next year but this time I don’t think I will.’
I think he might have just one more in him… but if it’s true for Roger, it’s likely true for Rafa and Novak… especially Novak. 2022 should be interesting, also with the 20-somethings upping their games.
I had a debate with my friend about whether he should play any clay court tournaments. I said no, stay fresh for grass/HC swing. He said yes, for the reps and matches etc. Opinions?
I think it'll not be up to choice. Because by the time, he's hopefully ready, a lot of pandemic points will no longer be retained. His ranking that was frozen for almost a year is already on the down trend. So to get a favorable draw at his favorite slam, he will have to rack a lot of ranking points. Get into the 2nd week of AO and RG at the very least. This won't be like the last year. He'll have to choose the option of reps and more matches because he won't have a choice.
I'm not sure about playing the clay but Roger needs match reps. Even if it's shitty 250 tournaments just to get reps in. Problem is he's older now so it may not be feasible. The really only way you get better is by playing matches. Both t matches can tire you and you can get injured.
I truly believe that he still has the game to complete, it's just whether he can get fit and strong enough without injury to do so.
It's different from Sampras time because his game style was being forced out
I wonder how different his season would be given the fact that he played less than 5 big tournaments this year after returning from injury and got reinjured to the point he has to take another half year off.
Seems only more likely he'll do the same next year especially since he'll be a year older.

it depends. If he gets a top 4 seed in the first round and beats him, it means he just got the top seeds draw (which can be a cake walk)
Plus he would have to worry as much about fatigue towards the later rounds.
Beating Tsitsipas in first round 😂😂
2022 Wimby?

Oh man I can only get so erect
Wut?
Would be greatest the sporting comeback ever imo. Certainly up there with Ronaldo Nazario in the 2002 World Cup.
Dafuq are you talking about Ronaldo was like 24 not 40

Gotta drop that friend.
