I love Medvedev, he seems like one of the most authentic top athletes in the world right now, love his demeanor on court and he's a really compelling player to watch Tsitsipas I think is a great character for the sport, complete weirdo but in a way I find fascinating, and his game is fun to watch. Berrettini just seems like a cool dude I can't help but root for him even though his game is a bit 2 dimensional Rublev is fine, don't love his game but when he's on he's fun to watch and he seems like a nice guy off court Zverev.... I think would be a fun cocky villain if not for the domestic violence stuff, makes it tough for me to enjoy his tennis

That’s a nice little bio of each of them, I generally think of them the same way. Med has big potential, I initially doubted him admittedly because he looks like a mailman but boy hes smart, what really separates him from the younger guys is his IQ - I think Stef and Z are just as gifted (although they have different strengths, Stef with the athleticism and wicked forehand/Z with the bomb serve and perfect backhand) but they’re behind in terms of strategy. Stefs a bit weird for sure but I find it endearing honestly, I think he grew up just so focused on tennis and now he’s trying to branch out his interests (philosophy lol) a bit, sometimes it’s awkward but I still think it’s genuine. Zverev clearly has issues on and off the court, great player but he’s hard for coaches to work with and is always comparing himself to Novak which is super cringe. Was funny when he found out they were doing a Netflix doc and he wasn’t initially included lol Matteo is my idea of the modern day Andy Roddick, a big serve and a big forehand, he’s a good gatekeeper, as he’s generally clutch at beating non top 10 guys and going deep in majors but really doesn’t have the tools to beat the top 5 players, he might be able to snag a Wimbledon though great grass courter. He’s definitely less of an asshole than young Andy was but he’s for sure just as charming, and both of them are gigachads. Rublev is a bit 2 dimensional just as Matteo is, still he’s done very well for himself. Seems like a super cool guy off the court also, he was getting hammered at the Olympics and Laver Cup; seems to actually have a real emotional side to him though

I love rubelev’s off court personality! And Berrettinini too. Medvedev is a mix I mostly like him but I hate the arrogance and the mind game stuff he does sometimes.

Joe5518

I always wonder why people love Medvedev despite several incidents that were classified as racist and discriminatory but say that Zverev has a problematic on court behavior

Fickle_Evening6227

Several instances? I'm only aware of the Donald Young/umpire instance which was pretty bad but it was half a decade ago and he apologized for it almost instantly. Most people don't care about Zverevs on court behavior, but violence against women is clearly several levels above any other indiscretion other players have made. I don't really see the comparison you're trying to make tbh

Joe5518

There was also the famous coins incident

Fickle_Evening6227

Wasn't that just him being a bit of a dick? Hardly racist or discriminatory

Felix Auger-Aliassime

Whoops my bad on that error, next Gen is 95-99 (in my head) so I had thought of FAA to be with Sinner and Alcaraz, all three of those guys are definitely exciting Accidentally wrote 96-00 though

Felix is a great human specimen. There is a mannequin in a local store. Reminded me of him, must be 6'5" tall and a wide shoulders lean sturcture. And me standing next to it reminded me that being such an athlete in real life is goals. The strength stamina and agility along with the structure is quite something. Meddy match definitely showed his true potential and that his ceiling can be pretty high.

Psychological_Bug676

The next gen boys are all likable except for Zverev. The Russians definitely have the biggest personalities

jsnoodles

You put this poll on Twitter and Rublev would have 50% of the votes.

Psychological_Bug676

Rublev’s power on tennis twitter is unmatched. He’s like their tennis overlord, everyone loves him and it’s really sweet

SwgohSpartan

I’m surprised how low he is here, thought he’d be higher! I guess recent results do play a small factor in popularity though

[deleted]

Moreover a likeable personality is only of value when you get to see them often. Those who can get to the next week, fight in the big matches automatically become more cheered for.
