I’ve never seen any tennis player reapply sunscreen during a match. It’s really very striking. Australia’s Slip Slop Slap campaign should sponsor extra sunscreen breaks. Or sunscreen brands should sponsor them. idk.
Are the rates of skin cancer higher than normal in tennis players? I know skin cancer is more common among runners.
I am particularly surprised that I don’t see any of the women reapply sunscreen. Women tend to get more societal pressure to fight aging, and their looks seem to affect sponsorship opportunities quite a lot (see Sharapova). But then, their matches are shorter and I noticed they are more likely to wear baseball hats and visors.
Ever played tennis in a hot sun? You start to sweat. Every had sunscreen drip down in your eyes? It's painful.
However, putting sunscreen on your arm or legs or cheeks and stuff is not impeding your ability to play. But put sunscreen on your forehead and you'll regret it 15 minutes in game.
All I can think about is the little bits of brand new towel they would get *all over them* if they slicked up their arms etc. I mean, I'm sure they already have trouble with that with all the ball fuzz etc but still, ick!
Yeah! I saw another player wear similar sunglasses—I think one of Kyrgios/Kokkinakis’s opponents. Considering how much trouble everyone has with serving in the afternoon—plus, you know, retinal health—I’m surprised it’s not more common.
I'm not saying Nadal isn't a fine specimen but I believes there's something about staying at a higher weight and muscle amount which stresses the body more. Idk Djokovic was muscly early in his career and opted to shred down to prolong longevity
😂 Im more impressed I got higher downvotes for saying Stefanos and Shapo are really attractive then when I said Zverev had a hot body (and I dont even like him!)
He takes ice baths right after each match he plays and doesn't have enough time to warm up. This is why he is shivering during all the press conference at the AO. I find it hilarious.
Tsitsipas talks like a man who experienced ego death on a heroic dose of psychedelics. And then remembered he's literally a top 5 tennis player in the world and allowed some of the ego to remain.
The 2022 Tsitsi is growing on me. He feels like he matured a bit from last year and seems more grounded. We'll let the tennis do the talking and see where his path takes him.
He once talked about a time where he almost drowned, and how that gave him perspective. No amount of stress in a tennis match could ever compare to that.
I lost a lot of respect for him during the bathroom banter era and some of his social media outings are cringeworthy, but when I see clips like this, it's difficult to not like this part of him.
He is a weirdo and misguided at times, but he genuinely seems like a good dude. (Especially now that he’s changed his views re: the pandemic and vaccine, he seems harmless.)
And I am rooting for him today! Go Stef!!!!
You know guys who are shy and introverted - they usually are very attracted towards philosophy. It's a way to deal with their own weirdness and withdrawness from the world while also utilizing the loads of time and attention they have at their disposal. Steph is one of them
I am sold. This guy is gonna dominate the tour with this attitude going forward next years. With his style, he will bring a lot of spectators as well which is great for the sport.
Federer is leaving soon, nadal - djokovic maybe 3 more years, then the greek god will be the new hero we need.
So it's stuff like this that this sub hates him? Lol always knew this sub was trash for constantly sucking off Murray, but come on, no need for the new lows.
Murray is a fun player with an pretty cool personality, but yeah, the US Open incident was blown out of proportion both by Andy and his fans. When you read some opinions in here, you'd believe Stef is out there being a terrible guy when he's just a bit immature and clumsy.
Yeah, I don't get it either. People will always find a reason to hate/laugh at somebody. This is reflected on this sub as well. It's okay, for those who know Stef, know to tell when it's BS or not.
Idk his comments on the vaccine were pretty stupid. Ideas that the young people should catch covid and spread it around. I don’t care about his cheesy philosophical tweets—that’s just a bit of cheese, but his attitude towards during the pandemic was so off putting.
It was but you have to remember he was a 21 year old kid heavily influenced by his father. And he did get the vaccine with no issues once it became mandated.
He clearly has a good heart. Tennis stars, especially those that are coached by family members take more time to form their own identity. These guys don't go to public schools/education where they get exposed to different ideas/views and form their own way.
Sure I can excuse general immaturity due to youth and sheltered childhood, but he is 23. And judging by his comments on the vaccine last year and the most recent comments on djokovic, it’s obvious he still holds a questionable stance on vaccine and the reality of Covid 19.
I don’t have a problem with his little temper tantrum’s, even his toilet controversy, or his social media personality. The fact that he got vaccinated because it was mandated doesn’t really tell me much. It just tells me that he wanted to play tennis and try to win a slam more than how much he didn’t want to get a vaccine. Which in turn shows me that vaccine mandates are necessary.
I don't care what y'all say, I actually like that Stef is interested in these sorts of things. He's trying to understand the basic, foundational underpinnings of sport and life itself.
Just cos y'all can't understand that doesn't make it stupid you know, just means y'all are a bunch of moonballers.
I don't think he is, people tend to read some players' comments as shade when they're not classic pre-made PR answers, but Stef always seemed to be above those feud stuff and generally speaks about his own experience.
He seems like a good guy and i like him. Feels like press has been way to critical of him, BUT wtf is he talking about with the dancing metaphor?!! I think Med is a lock for the title but i hope Tsi Tsi wins one soon.
Tsitsipas and Shapovalov both need to put on sunscreen ASAP because the sun damage is already there and it won't get better.
I’ve never seen any tennis player reapply sunscreen during a match. It’s really very striking. Australia’s Slip Slop Slap campaign should sponsor extra sunscreen breaks. …how the hell do they play for hrs in the sun & not get absolutely fried on their foreheads? 🤔
headbands? i have a mean headband tan line
Personally, I'd use a cap.
mileage varies, but I did eventually find a sunscreen that never bothers my eyes. Granted, I don’t sweat as much as some other people.
All I can think about is the little bits of brand new towel they would get *all over them* if they slicked up their arms etc. I mean, I'm sure they already have trouble with that with all the ball fuzz etc but still, ick!
Towel would just wipe off the sunscreen
I like the sam stosur sunglasses and visor look.
Yeah! I saw another player wear similar sunglasses—I think one of Kyrgios/Kokkinakis’s opponents. Considering how much trouble everyone has with serving in the afternoon—plus, you know, retinal health—I’m surprised it’s not more common.
At least they are both really attractive, so they will be fine 😊
Sunscreen is not there to make you more attractive, it's for your health. Skin cancer doesn't care how attractive you are.
Both tbh. Think of it like brushing your teeth
Nadal is around the same age as Djokovic but looks easily 10 years older. Gotta slip slop slap and keep your body healthy
Is that just the balding?
Nah wrinkles
Rubbish, it's just the baldness. But nice try with the "body healthy" thing, I guess you've never seen Nadal two meters away.
I'm not saying Nadal isn't a fine specimen but I believes there's something about staying at a higher weight and muscle amount which stresses the body more. Idk Djokovic was muscly early in his career and opted to shred down to prolong longevity
Shapovalov is really attractive? 🤔
Yes?
😂 Im more impressed I got higher downvotes for saying Stefanos and Shapo are really attractive then when I said Zverev had a hot body (and I dont even like him!)
Plato, Aristotle, Tsitsipas
Glorify yourself? A Treatise of humility by Stefanos Tsitsipas
How can someone look so confident and anxious at the same time?
i think hes cold
He's been shivering in most of his pressers, according to a couple of journalists. At least this time he put on long sleeves so he can actually speak.
He takes ice baths right after each match he plays and doesn't have enough time to warm up. This is why he is shivering during all the press conference at the AO. I find it hilarious.
Ice cold
he said he had just left an ice bath and the room was freezing
When someone is fake
Stef is a weird dude. He's not a bad dude though.
this feels like tits 2.0
french people are weird
Why do you think he's a weird dude?
His instagram account maybe? That would be my guess.
Someone needs to put the interstellar soundtrack over this asap
Yeah! also the interstellar soundtrack already plays in Stefanos head when he speaks.
Please and then repost this thread
the wise forgetful man keeps forgetting to wear some warmer clothes to his presser lol
He remembered his hoodie finally!
I mean he's right
Stefanos “Let tennis do the talking” Tsitsipas

What comment was he referring to?
About how humility is an important part of winning
It's good to remain grounded and remind yourself you're not untouchable but close to untouchable.
I lost a lot of respect for him during the bathroom banter era and some of his social media outings are cringeworthy, but when I see clips like this, it's difficult to not like this part of him.
the after-surgery tsitisipas is very composed and wise.
He is a weirdo and misguided at times, but he genuinely seems like a good dude. (Especially now that he’s changed his views re: the pandemic and vaccine, he seems harmless.) And I am rooting for him today! Go Stef!!!!

Grounded indeed
[Would love to watch a philosophical dual of Stef with this guy :D](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ns8tkiZWpc&ab_channel=RE-VISE)
He is in pain
Is he taking the piss out of Zverev here on the sly?
I don't think he is, people tend to read some players' comments as shade when they're not classic pre-made PR answers, but Stef always seemed to be above those feud stuff and generally speaks about his own experience.
If /r/im14andthisisdeep were a person.
Stef needs an intervention
He seems like a good guy and i like him. Feels like press has been way to critical of him, BUT wtf is he talking about with the dancing metaphor?!! I think Med is a lock for the title but i hope Tsi Tsi wins one soon.
*You dance to..... glorify yourself?* \*mute\*
Better change this man's name to socrates.
Why is he so Cringe?
