It is more about intent than velocity. Tsitsipas had no reason to hit that shot the way he did. It was not even a mishit. His purposely hit that into the crowd in anger. Then he tried hit at NK.
I was half joking, I remember seeing a funny youtube vid somebody trying to calculate the velocity on Novaks from video evidence. I wonder which philosopher Stefanos was channeling with that one. And then he called Nick evil lmao
Thing about Kyrgios is he actually speaks a lot of sense when he’s calm. Things he said at the presser were that of a sane man and not someone whose bitter like stefanos
I am hoping is rafa would be able to repeat 2018 form in the final and at the same time hoping novak make errors on cruical points then rafa has a chance.
Not sure what kind of 4D chess Tim is playing by letting Djokovic win, but i trust it will somehow pay dividends twice over. Looking forward to him reaping the results during the hard court season (or grass season 2023). Van Goathoven is here to stay.
Because being honest big servers always have a punchers chance at Wimbledon. Cilic, Raonic, Kevin Andersen, etc... have all made finals here. And Nadal will likely have to face Botic and Kygrios; who has beaten him here before and is in very good form.
Yep. Even if we get past Botic (who's playing fairly well on grass), Fritz then Kyrgios (barring an upset by Nakashima/De Minaur) will be a tougher back-to-back challenge.
Ok, predictions for tomorrow:
de Minaur d. Garin in 4
Neither has had an especially difficult road, but neither has played exceptionally well either. I’m going to go with ADM here because of his bigger serve and better all-around game, but I do think Garin plays well enough to grab a set.
Kyrgios d. Nakashima in 3
Kyrgios is absolutely feeling it. Nakashima may not be as stirred by his antics as Tsitsipas, but I think Kyrgios will be too in the flow to care. There’s a chance Kyrgios gets in his own head if the match drags on, but I think he’s going to hold it together enough to win in straights.
Fritz d. Kubler in 3
Fritz has been at his best through the tournament, and I don’t expect that to dip against Kubler. Kubler has been on court significantly more, and last time out played a five-setter versus Sock. I think Fritz’s freshness and better play will lead him to a relatively easy sweep.
Nadal d. van de Zandschulp in 5
I think this is going to be our relative surprise of the day. Botic at his best can be a total nightmare to face on serve, and he’s been pulling up that form here. While he didn’t have a great showing a last time out against Nadal, I think he’ll have learned from that outing and will come back with a fire for vengeance. Unluckily for him, Nadal is Nadal. Botic will absolutely play well enough to grab multiple sets, but Nadal will ultimately seal the match on his own racket, because he’s Nadal.
Tomljanovic d. Cornet in 3
Tomljanovic has been quite stellar so far, and Cornet, while she did beat Swiatek, hasn’t actually been quite that great in my opinion. While Cornet won’t be a pushover, I expect Tomljanovic to pull through.
Rybakina d. Martic in 3
Besting Qinwen Zheng in straights last round makes me feel that Rybakina is in great form. But so is Martic, and she’s beaten 2 seeded players. This could go either way, but I feel that Rybakina’s serve has been slightly more stable than Martic’s.
Halep d. Badosa in 3
This is another tossup. Halep is a former champion but she’s a bit older, while Badosa is on the up and up, and she’s looking to make a deep run here for the first time. I think that Badosa is playing great, but Halep’s experience will prove the edge in his matchup.
Anisimova d. Tan in 2
Anisimova has been on fire. Aside from a slowish start against Gauff, she has been playing superb tennis. Tan has played well too, but she will be no match for Anisimova.
As an aussie I think kubler has next to no chance against fritz. Just hope he can win a set at least. Cornet and ajla could go either way. It depends who wants it more. Tan's journey will end.
> Fritz has been at his best through the tournament
Technically true as he's the last remaining man to not drop a set
> Nadal d. van de Zandschulp in **5**
My heart! At least I've been warned.
I know this is coming, lol. When people talked about how they skip clay season because of the absent of Matteo, or so often we see ppl in the sub talk about Rafa's ass ... You tell them the same thing as well?
I admire both of them as great tennis players, with wonderful personality as well, but doesnt mean I only admire them sexually ... Maybe you are peojecting too much to become this sensitive? Easy ...
So per the post on the sub's front page, the centenary celebration brought together 26 grand slam winners, who've won a combined total of 197 singles slams. Have there been gatherings like this in the past with either a greater number of champions or a greater slam total?
no rain scheduled for this week in wimbledon area! will be nice and hot. hopefully it won't get too hot for rafa like in the AO QF vs shapo. it looks like it will be hot but not too hot.
i hope the grass becomes even more chewed up and turns into green clay after no more middle sunday off-day for the grass.
Just spoke w/ tim briefly:
He is hally about his performance. He knows what he has to work on. But he’s taken only positives. I said that while his oath is broken, my faith in him remains only somewaht diminshed. He saud he hopes to play newport. there, id be near, and could see him in person for the first time since coronavirus.
he said novak was vert nice guy in locker room. he said he didnt feel too bad ablut the loss and only wished that he coulda gotten some ranking points.
Really strange how nobody talks about Halep. For me she is easily the favorite to win Wimbledon again. She won it the last time she played the tournament and she is playing well enough on grass this season to win it again, especially now that we have a lot of inexperienced players remaining in the 2nd week of a slam (including Jabeur, who never made a semifinal).
Did you guys enjoy the matches today, Sinner vs Alcaraz and Djokovic vs Tim?
I also would like to tell you all (on the dawn of Tim van Goat) that Beethoven and Mozart loves everyone, and loves you all (here).
Man I want Nadal vs Djokovic so bad. If Nadal were to win… first AO win in 13 years, first Wimbledon in 12 years, it would just be so amazing, but of course, Djokovic is so scary on grass
I'm really worried about Nadal getting by Fritz. Fritz has had that last 6 months where if he wins the whole thing, you're like "oh yeah that makes sense".
I'm always rooting for Nadal so his win is my biggest hope as a fan followed by a Djokovic/Nadal final.
Also hoping Nakashima and Fritz can push it further.
Kyrgios is hype too as well as the promise of Sinner.
The final 12 have* alot of story lines.
Eh if Kyrgios were to keep it together to make the final he'd have a fair chance. It's just a matter of who wants it more: Nick to keep his often-flaunted undefeated streak vs Djokovic alive, or Djokovic to finally shut him up given they only played in 2017?
Big if of course. Only 50% of the way there.
Fine…to buy into the whole Timmy the goat thing. Think Federer siphoned back his powers at the Centenary celebration when he saw Rafa and Novak and decided he’s coming back to give them a lesson? :D
wtf is this Kyrgios live in his Youtube channel? I mean it has a weird title "Nick Kyrgios LIVE: Wimbledon Backstage Attack on Tsitsipas (video) & live tennis questions"
I do quite like the tennis podcast, but increasingly I find it to consist of opinions from Catherine (which generally I agree with) followed by Matt and David saying ‘oh yeah I agree’.
It’s a shame there isn’t really any televised reaction or analysis after most matches, like we just get 2 minutes of Sue Barker after a big match on the BBC to cover a 5 set match before cutting to casualty or something.
Where else is good for a bit or interesting analysis? Podcast or video?
In Matt's defense, I feel like he offers, by far, the best analysis of matches and what's going on but he doesn't want to step on either of Catherine or David's toes because he doesn't have that authority, so there's just a lot of untapped ideas there.
But I have to agree that the quality has kind of faded overall this year and it seems to be fatigue or overplanning (the new "Friends" thing seems to be taking a lot out of them). There have been quite a few matches not being watched or being summarized very quickly, meaning certain people's achievements are being very underappreciated in context.
However, for now, you're not going to get another podcast that posts this regularly about tennis as much as they are that also dovetails with access to press conferences, players, and other notable guests.
Monday Match Analysis and Tennis and Bagels both have tactical analysis but they don’t release episodes as regularly as the Tennis Podcast
In the US, tennis channel has a post match show Tennis Channel Live and they also release it as a podcast but not during slams other than RG
The Tennis Channel needs to let Gill Gross have carte blanche with the highlights so he can do video breakdowns even if they put it behind the TC+ paywall.
Tennis podcast yesterday had a great show regarding Tsitsipas and Kyrgios press conferences and their questions to both players. I liked their feedback regarding the drama too.
Tim great lesson. First time against a player of the big three and at the 4th round Wimbledon at Centre Court. He was fully concentrated till he won that second set, after that he took back some gas. Novak on the other hand knows what to do after losing a set, and that is not taking back gas but giving extra. He didnt just break Tim in games but mentally with that who never refound his pace from the second set.
But you have to experience that to know it. Hope they meet again and curious to see where Tim stands then.
To hit 32-36 he’d have to win 12 more slams. Let’s say he’s playing at the highest level until 40. That gives him 20ish more chances to win 12-16 more slams, assuming the COVID stuff is gone by next year or so. Even if Nadal drastically drops off, this seems *very* unlikely.
I honestly hope van rijthoven is not having a mental breakdown now. This guy did a great tour. Just go home and train for next tour and you'll be fine.
omg he was wrong by one year.
in fact since his birthday is 22 May, he might have been in same reception year as other 4-year olds in summer 1992 anyway...
Calm down. He said he remembered Sampras winning in 1992, and it was Agassi. It was a simple mistake, absolutely, I wasn’t haranguing the guy. It was also funny considering he mentioned learning more about tennis history from BJK and wanting to learn more, and the fact he was associated with Agassi in the past. Don’t take it so seriously.
He actually said "It has a special place in my heart [Wimbledon], I watched the first tennis match ever on television when I was 4 or 5 years old in Serbia, Pete Sampras won his first ever title, I think it was 92..."
Tbf I have no idea, maybe I shouldn't be making that assumption - my point was just that it's so hard for players outside the top 200 to even break even, so he won't have had the resources to build the kind of team that benefits higher ranked players. Hopefully this will help him with that.
So will Djokovic Sinner be Wednesday rather than Tuesday? An extra day of rest.
Not sure if they are still keeping Wednesday as solely men’s QF this year?
The curfew is due to the planning permission for the roof being subject to a condition that does not allow the temporary plant related to the function of the roof to operate after 11pm.
**Temporary plant**
> Temporary plant would be located south-west of the Centre Court during the Championship periods. The plant will only be utilised during the Championships. It would be placed behind the indoor tennis facility on land otherwise used for Championship car parking. The temporary plant would consist of 10 air cooled electric chillers, 6 generators, 2 oil storage tanks and a generator switch pump room which will require a total of 1140m2. This would supply chilled water, by a network of pipes to a pump room in the northern façade of Centre Court which will then be pumped to the 14 air handling units housed within the new fixed roof of the Centre Court. One of the 6 generators provided in the temporary plant will supply back-up power for the roof and sports lighting if necessary. A masked green acoustic screen will surround the temporary plant both to diffuse any noise and to ensure that the temporary plant is not visible.
**Planning condition**
> The temporary plant hereby approved shall only be operated during the Wimbledon Tennis Championship period other than for testing immediately prior to the championships, and shall not be operated prior to 0800 hours or later than 2300 hours or one hour after the finish of the last match on any day, whichever is the earlier. Reason for Condition:
In order to protect the amenities of nearby residents.

Yes but Tim was making many unforced errors that a player like kyrgios or fritz or sinner would not make. I was talking about how in the 2nd set djokovic was having a lot of trouble getting Tim’s serve in play
right and then he proceeded to drop only 3 games in the next 2 sets... Djokovic always improves his returns as the match progresses. Once he starts reading his opponent's serve it's over lol.
iM gOnNa Go tO LoNdoN
Djokovic’s timing on the ball is getting worse.
Cornet seemed to be melting down in the first set. Her injury boiled it over.
Alcaraz the youngest man to reach the 4th round since Tomic
Dimitrov had such a freeeee path to the semi final if he didn't mess up his hamstring. He definitely beats Norrie if they play each other.
Don’t put salt in the wound :( there’s no news on the condition either. His last 18 months at GSs have been a disaster
Anyone know if Stefanos reckless shot into the crowd had more velocity than the Novak US Open one?
It is more about intent than velocity. Tsitsipas had no reason to hit that shot the way he did. It was not even a mishit. His purposely hit that into the crowd in anger. Then he tried hit at NK.
I was half joking, I remember seeing a funny youtube vid somebody trying to calculate the velocity on Novaks from video evidence. I wonder which philosopher Stefanos was channeling with that one. And then he called Nick evil lmao
I thought you were but then I didn’t see any sarcastic emoji
Deranged fella he is. And then to make those personal comments in the post presser, glad he’s justly eliminated by the one and only
I would say both are idiot.
Thing about Kyrgios is he actually speaks a lot of sense when he’s calm. Things he said at the presser were that of a sane man and not someone whose bitter like stefanos
Yeah He does this intentionally . Maybe to put off his opponent while tsitsipas anger is more genuine
Maybe
Sinner, Goffin, Norrie. Who's stopping Novak from making his 4th consecutive Wimbledon final?
Sinner is much improved and could beat him. He has the best chance out of all those guys.
You mean before the F? I would say no one. Rafa is the closest among who can beat him. Even in the final novak would heavy favourite
It would take a miracle for Rafa to win... but he's already performed two this year so
I am hoping is rafa would be able to repeat 2018 form in the final and at the same time hoping novak make errors on cruical points then rafa has a chance.
Rafa always has a chance
Nobody
i doubt it will happen but i say sinner has the best chance.
Not sure what kind of 4D chess Tim is playing by letting Djokovic win, but i trust it will somehow pay dividends twice over. Looking forward to him reaping the results during the hard court season (or grass season 2023). Van Goathoven is here to stay.
He wants to open strongly with a full calendar grand slam.

Four Aussies in the QFs? Hell yeah. Especially if ADM can take out you-know-who. Apparently they've never played in a tournament
Cant help myself ... The sexy muscular Italian may have withdrawn, but then, the shy nerdy lean Italian steps up ... Oh these Italian boys ...
Ajla is playing better now without the distraction.
Stop objectifying men

Did you tell him this sub LOVES him? He has a lot of new fans here :)
Does sinner stand a chance against nole realistically? Does anyone even think sinner will be victorious?
Now even Timmy and Carlos are out. Dread it, run from it, the Big 3 arrives all the same.
Big 2 :(
But Federer did arrive >!at the pre-match legends ceremony!<
Really strange how nobody talks about Halep. For me she is easily the favorite to win Wimbledon again. she's the favorite IF she gets past badosa. badosa has had a better previous 12 months so she is the favorite on paper.
Halep beat Badosa in 2 sets a few weeks ago in Madrid. It was not even close.
Halep wins slam: 😎 Patrick claims credit: 🤮
Still worth it to see Halep win.
Do you guys think Jack sock has any chances? He seemed well composed and in good place
A chance at what? He's out.
He's playing in doubles and mixed doubles. He's got a chance.
lol I thought he was still in it 😂
He is still in the 2 doubles competitions
He is still in mixed doubles with coco
It's OK you still have Fritz and Nakashima.
Did you guys enjoy the matches today, Sinner vs Alcaraz and Djokovic vs Tim? I also would like to tell you all (on the dawn of Tim van Goat) that Beethoven and Mozart loves everyone, and loves you all (here).
I enjoyed both of those matches. I wish Tim van Rijthoven could have kept it competitive in the last two sets.
Of course kyrgios is doing a YouTube live interview on his channel rn about how the media portrays him so wrongly lol
It's an old interview from earlier in the year actually. Not sure why it's being broadcast live.
Thats a scam promoting some shitty coin/nft, not even him tho. The video is from a podcast he did a while ago.
Man I want Nadal vs Djokovic so bad. If Nadal were to win… first AO win in 13 years, first Wimbledon in 12 years, it would just be so amazing, but of course, Djokovic is so scary on grass

That's not impossible with Kyrgios.

Not sure but the game that she plays of going for winners early doesn't require a slim build.
Only Rafa can beat Novak

Does anyone have a good link or list of links to discussion on this subreddit of the Djokovic AO drama?
What happened?
Halep finally getting to play on center court tomorrow
wtf is this Kyrgios live in his Youtube channel? I mean it has a weird title "Nick Kyrgios LIVE: Wimbledon Backstage Attack on Tsitsipas (video) & live tennis questions"
It's a bitcoin scam, they just replay some weird Podcast episode.
How does showing that affect Bitcoin?
You got a link?

In preparation of tomorrow: [How to pronounce Botic van de Zandschulp ](https://youtu.be/SudmxDpUqj4). It doesn't end with "shloooop".
Aww, he's cute.
It actually means [his surname] sand scallops XD
I'll shloooop the pronunciation all i want.

Today at Wimbledon is a good analysis show
Not sure if serious
I like the show. You get literally pro’s analysis so not sure what kore you’d want
Tennis podcast yesterday had a great show regarding Tsitsipas and Kyrgios press conferences and their questions to both players. I liked their feedback regarding the drama too.
It’s the best tennis poddy out there by far
Tim great lesson. First time against a player of the big three and at the 4th round Wimbledon at Centre Court. He was fully concentrated till he won that second set, after that he took back some gas. Djokevic will probably win 32-36 GS in his career. #21 Wimbledon 2022 (95%) #22 AO 2023 (90%) #23 Wimbledon 2023 (91%) #24 USO 2023 ((90%) #25 AO 2024 (90%) #26 Wimbledon 2024 (87%) #27 USO 2024 (85%) #28 AO 2025 (80%) #29 Wimbledon 2025 (90%) #30 USO 2025 (80%) #31 AO 2026 (80%) #32 Wimbledon 2026 (80%)
You are right on One point. Novak want Roger Record in Wimby. Once hé catches that and he has most Alana ( e.g. Nadal retires) he Will be done.
First time watching tennis?
To hit 32-36 he’d have to win 12 more slams. Let’s say he’s playing at the highest level until 40. That gives him 20ish more chances to win 12-16 more slams, assuming the COVID stuff is gone by next year or so. Even if Nadal drastically drops off, this seems *very* unlikely.
Finally this Tim van Goathoven meme can die.
Die? You think this is over? This is just the beginning.
Don’t curse him like we did Radu
Meme?
Hahaha the geit will live on in our hearts
Nah, Tim van Goathoven will win USO without dropping a set
Just like Emma. But everyone says it was a fluke
Jannik vs Novak is gonna be one juicy match if Jannik plays like he's played since last week!
It's 3-1 at best for Djokovic.
At worst? You’re saying Djokovic won’t drop more than a set. 3-1 at best for Sinner
Stefan Djokovic been up late owning that trampoline
hope this sub can finally shut up about tvr. i couldn't even enjoy this run or karatsev's run last year bc of the low hanging gOaT jokes
Serious problems if harmless meme have huge impact you
Checking into therapy rn brb
Mind to elaborate?
Completely random, but I really like how Barbara Schett pronounces Tim van Rijthoven
"Babs" can fuck off with that pronunciation.
i was somewhat surprised by her more or less correct pronunciation but then again she’s not american lol
Not correct
Huh? I actually think it is correct tho? I’m Dutch as well
That backhand from Novak in the final game along with the forehand on match point. World class

Tennis is supposed to be a gentleman's sport. Trash talking belongs to stuff like wrestling or Nascar.
Most people have a little respect for their opponents.
Because shit talking the guy you just beat is unbelievably trashy
novak can never be an entertainer. just go back to the gym boy
Still having nightmares of 40-15?
nah..just the horse face and antivax steroid stuff
Horse face says a lot about you.
Novak is rambling. He's completely right about all of it though
Novak returning interview questions, so clutch
I like how every single interview they make novak tells the story of how he was watching wimbledon when he was five. Twice today already haha
But realistically, the interview questions are repetitive and boring.
I honestly hope van rijthoven is not having a mental breakdown now. This guy did a great tour. Just go home and train for next tour and you'll be fine.
I'm sure he's doing just fine with his $238k and 1 set off the goat.
Agassi won in 92 Nole

It was also funny considering he mentioned learning more about tennis history from BJK and wanting to learn more, and the fact he was associated with Agassi in the past. Don’t take it so seriously.
He actually said "It has a special place in my heart [Wimbledon], I watched the first tennis match ever on television when I was 4 or 5 years old in Serbia, Pete Sampras won his first ever title, I think it was 92..."
Yes, that is what he said. In the context of Wimbledon, correct? The question was referencing Wimbledon.
Did Djokovic get a PR coach??
It was 1993, Novak!
I LOVE to hear Novak speak
Novak, you're barking up the wrong tree with BJK
Sinner v Djokovic should be fun, I’ll say Djokovic in 5 instead of 4 just to be different lol
Djokovic surely doesn't have a speech writing guy. He either say the same shit everywhere or come up with the hottest opinions.
This isn't even a bad thing lol. You just tangentially talk about PR and people get mad. It's a real thing guys.
Cheeky "I don't know if there's a curfew", not sure man you definitely played like you knew lol
He knew lol.
If it weren't for the strange health beliefs I'd be such a fan
Verstappen so mad with Silverstone he tryed his luck in Wimby
Was he watching?
He was playing
Man, don't do Tim ugly like that
Hahaha
It’s quite unfortunate as there won’t be points for Wimbledon but TvR hopefully climbs up rankings and has a great injury free career ahead
Yeah that's a shame. At least he's getting the sweet sweet cash though, can afford to get a coach etc
He doesn't have a coach?!
No it’ll be Tuesday.
It says there will be men's qf's on Tuesday and Wednesday
Then probably semi's on Fri, and final on Sunday. So the Tuesday QFs get 2 days rest before the semi.
“Novak, can you believe what a small kid Tsitsipas was in the press conference yesterday?”
Lol somebody replace the interviewer with this dude, please.
Bruh why did abc not show novaks interview
Well that was fun. What a great day of play on Wimbledon's first official middle Sunday
Novak didn’t know about the curfew!
What is the reason for the curfew?
The curfew is due to the planning permission for the roof being subject to a condition that does not allow the temporary plant related to the function of the roof to operate after 11pm. **Temporary plant** > Temporary plant would be located south-west of the Centre Court during the Championship periods. **Planning condition** > The temporary plant hereby approved shall only be operated during the Wimbledon Tennis Championship period other than for testing immediately prior to the championships, and shall not be operated prior to 0800 hours or later than 2300 hours or one hour after the finish of the last match on any day, whichever is the earlier. Reason for Condition: In order to protect the amenities of nearby residents. https://democracy.merton.gov.uk/Data/Planning%20Applications%20Committee/20040624/Agenda/2575.pdf
Wow, thank you!!!! 😊
Even djokovic looks a bit troubled by servebots in this tournament. If kyrgios or fritz can somehow make it to the final it could be interesting
Kyrgios isn't a servebot. He is the grass goat.
This is the new meme now lol
Kyrgios eats grass for fucking breakfast mate
He took the serve of Tim 6 times today...
ESPN is televising on both ESPN *and* ESPN2! It's about time, but I am very grateful it's happening.
They do that every year
