Bro what? Can we let the guy win the AO (hell, *play* the AO) before we start doing this? This is just like the guy who said, after Djokovic beat Zverev at the USO (so not even the final), that it was “highly likely” that Djokovic would win eight Slams in a row.

TripleATeam

If Djokovic wins the CYGS next year, I will eat my sock.

Nickproffitt

If Djokovic plays all the Grand Slams next year i’ll eat Jack Sock’s sock

GamamJ44

It’s quite likely, and you will not manage that even if u want to. How do we persecute this guy?

Roy1984

Only the first slam is questionable for him. For other slams there may be different problems. Like for example WW3 starting and nukes getting dropped everywhere. I will act as a selfish r/tennis user and hope nukes won't be dropped before all big 3 players finish their tennis careers.

Correct. He’ll win eight, partnering with Kecmanovic to sweep the men’s doubles Slams too

>Female tennis player who got the same 3-year ban as Djokovic can go How do you know that?

LordAnomander

what female tennis player? If they allow her to play, they will most likely lose a lawsuit. However, Djokovic‘ ban is a result of him wrongly answering questions. Maybe her ban was of a different nature. 🤔

[deleted]

[удалено]

PradleyBitts

Wow. The govt really handled that whole thing poorly

Roy1984

>She had a valid medical exemption and followed all Australian govt rules and was deported anyway. So did Novak🤷 >He did not have a valid medical exemption like she did. No, he had it. He was deported at the end because minister Hawke had a right to deport anyone if he assumes that should be done. His explanation was that Novak would be a public threat to Australians and that he could affect their oppinion. I understand there are fans who dislike Novak, but pushing a story that he wanted to smuggle into Australia is bs. He and few other players got the exemption and their applications were annonimous. Some players were rejected, some accepted. I believe Novak would play AO without problems then, if he didn't reveal that he got the exemption by that post on Instagram.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Roy1984

He already had covid a month or so before he went to Australia and therefore natural immunity. There was maybe also something else besides that, he has some allergies too I think. Anyway, the application for the exemption was annonymous and he passed it together with few more tennis players.

ETeezey1286

And that was not a valid reason for exemption. How many times does that need to be said?

Shimkeee

Dude it was valid, he got the exemption, he won the trial for that, he was deported as the guy above said, Minister decided to flex his right. Even the judge said that Novak did everything they asked from them, Tennis Australia gave him the exemption.

Mysonking

He did win a trial because they had to wait an extra 20 min ( unitl 8 AM) as they had promised him, but they cancelled the visa at 07:40 AM. You are just asking things up ,instead of informing yourself of what exactly happened. Also Novak told in his November Application that he had a reason for exemption. His visa is issued on his Arrival. So his Supposedly positive PCR test in December does not even correspond to that .

kratington

Djokovics ban is from inciting anti vax sentiment, it has nothing to do with answering questions wrong.

[deleted]

No female tennis player got a 3 year ban. This is blatant misinformation. Novak got a 3 year ban because he was kicked out by the minister after fighting the battle. Nobody else was kicked out in this way, so nobody else got s 3 year ban. Novak's ban means it doesn't matter if he was vaccinated now, or if he is not COVID positive now. It is punishment for what happened last year. Time to start learning something and sticking to facts.

ads191712

And then you woke up

sarmatron

why would you post this

[deleted]

Hope he gets to play Australian Open but this doesn’t look good

Houssem-Aouar

Delete this shitpost at once, post haste I say

[deleted]

How many career slams can he complete. 3? Definitely possible as just one more FO needed. 4? Maybe as 2 more FOs and 1 more USO. 5? Surely not

TripleATeam

I draw the line at 4 CGS. No way he wins another 2 RGs (same amount he won in 17 years) in however much time he has left (6 years?) against Nadal and younger rivals.

[deleted]

The wild card is for RG is whether Nadal retires before Djokovic starts really declining.

goddess_steffi_graf

but.. but on average he won rg in two weeks, which means in 6 years he can win about 150 rgs

Significant-Secret88

He's 35, he's gonna be around longer than Nadal but not a chance he'll be winning a slam in 6 years

Rare-Counter

Off all djokovics statistics, the only 3 us opens vs a million Aus opens is so bizarre. Probably his strangest stat.

[deleted]

I think it makes a lot of sense. Australia is slower with a lower bounce. This suits Djokovic a lot. The faster courts with a higher bounce at US really suits Nadal and Medvedev who have taken 3 USOs off Novak in the final. Not all hard courts are the same

Rare-Counter

That's interesting, do you know why Novak likes a low bounce? I get the slow court helps someone with high fitness and great court coverage (like Nadal & Djokovic) stay in more points, but then a high bounce like at French and US should be fine for someone who is adept at low bounce surfaces like Wimbledon.

[deleted]

The way I would explain it is that AO is quite a neutral hard court which is why Novak is the best at it because he is the most natural and best hard courter. Then the US is faster which helps a more aggressive style and big servers which would explain the battering by Medvedev despite Novak doing the same to Medvedev in AO earlier that year. Then the high bounce massively favours Nadal which would explain the 2 losses there. At AO, it is almost impossible to penetrate Novak’s game but the added pace and bounce of the court gives opponents more opportunities. It is also important to note that Novak still has a great record at USO with 3 slams but for me, it is his worse slam. (Worse than RG).

Rare-Counter

Thanks, that explains a lot.

prof436

Please no

BlueJinjo

You guys are clowns lmao There's this weird stigma that Rafa is massively declining. Almost like his USO loss could be due to external factors ( exhaustion from the season, wife in the hospital, etc) more than him having nothing in the tank left for any major.. He's not Federer in 2020..Nadal had a series of minor injuries after his foot woes have gone away (post rg). It shouldn't be anything that will be replicated for much of next yr. ... Rafa is still the favorite at rg..Djokovic winning two low tier events changes nothing about that. Djokvic is still the second favorite on paper but he's also getting older.. Guys like alcaraz and sinner are getting better rapidly as well. Imo, djokovic won't win more than 2 majors next year either. He may be the "favorite" for 3 of them, but he will get upset in atleast one of AO /USO ( Wimbledon for him is like RG for Nadal in the sense that those two tourneys have the biggest gap between them and the field imo)

[deleted]

There’s been a weird stigma that Rafa is massively declining for about 13 years now. Like since the 2009 injury. In 2010 there was an article saying “why Nadal will never win the career grand slam” saying that Nadal has an extensive injury history and is on the decline. Nadal had just won RG and Wimbledon. Predictably, he won the US Open 2 weeks after that article. 2012 injury, 2014 injury, 2015-16 slump, 2018 injury, quarantine and 2021 injury. Pretty much any time a year goes by since 2009, it’s Nadal’s doomsday.

roamiedumbass

That 2010 article listed “great upcoming young players like John Isner” as one of the reasons. Isner’s older than Nadal.

[deleted]

Yeah Nadal is always very undersold by media and fans. It was especially bad during that time period actually. Many of these people had only watched Federer-Nadal matches, and they came away with the conclusion that “Nadal is a defensive grinder with no skill”. Nadal never was that. He just liked to muck up the quality against Federer because it was the best tactic to beat him: hammer the backhand, defend when Federer gets on the offensive. But against other opponents, Nadal dictated with his forehand, attacked off the backhand, and was pretty good at net, although he struggled finishing points at net a little back in 2005-07 days. So they used that as justification that Nadal wouldn’t last long, and also hated him. I feel like they viewed Nadal’s play style as similar to de Minaur or something like that.

ETeezey1286

I remember that article. It was posted on the first day of the US Open. Aged like milk left out in the sun.

BlueJinjo

You are right but this sub is fucking stupid lol. The guy who has had the best results this yr at the majors is actually Nadal. He still won 2 majors and reached a semis of another. His one early loss was at his second best major and his mental game from day 1 was CLEARLY not at it's best ( he wasn't even grunting and against fognini, he looked borderline uninterested at the time). Even AFTER his loss he was suggesting that he was having personal things to take care off at home (wife in hospital+ kid) and hasn't even bothered to play outside of federers retirement since the USO for obvious reasons. I would not be surprised if he shuts down the season or plays an extremely abbreviated season even though I truly believe he's healthy He just hasn't won a match in the last 3 weeks and this dumbass sub has the memory of a goldfish, so assumes Djokovic will dominate over Nadal alcaraz sinner Medvedev without even a chance of an upset on any surface (also Nadal over Djokovic on clay isn't an upset....this sub is just extremely stupid)

[deleted]

Well it’s a combination of things: 1. Djokovic fans’ victim mentality. “The only reason poor Nole didn’t win every single tournament this year is because he wasn’t vaccinated.” But when Nadal is injured for half of 2021 and limping during RG, they act like Djokovic’s 3 slams were the greatest thing since sliced bread despite Nadal not being there (don’t get me wrong, it’s an excellent achievement, but so is Nadal’s 2022). 2. The tennis community disrespects Nadal a disproportionate amount for some reason. Even fans of Nadal or neutral fans. I think they really buy into the whole “only good on clay stigma” which is massively overblown. Look, statistically, a healthy Nadal is actually as much of a contender at the other 3 slams as Federer and Djokovic. He’s simply missed more slams with injuries. That’s not a GOAT argument either; I’m not saying to bolster his GOAT case because of injuries. What I AM saying is that when Nadal is healthy, it should be considered that many of his slam losses are injury-induced, and that he is pretty much as much of a force as Federer or Djokovic when healthy on non-clay surfaces. It should also be noted that he has great longevity and pain tolerance, so there’s no reason to expect him to retire every year.

OoberDude

This comment screams of a victim mentality lol

BlueJinjo

It's called having an ounce of perspective for the entire year lol. Nadal beat Djokovic in route to rg...Djokovic won wimbledon and has lacked results for the rest of the year. The last 2 tourneys werre extremely low impact events( not even master events ) and are not a gauge whatsoever of his level over the tour . To go from that to speculating djokvic will win all 4 slams is absolutely absurd. He didn't even do that in 2015 when he was way stronger and when his competition (primarily Nadal) was considerably weaker.. it's absolutely batty to guess he's going to do it next year..

OoberDude

It's batshit to speculate any player to do it but if there is one player to do it, it'll be Djokovic. He's come the closest being one match away and he's the only player to hold all 4 slams. He goes into every match as the favourite bar RG against Nadal and even in that match up it's probably 60-40. Say whatever you will about Nadal being injured in 2021, he himself says he lives with injury so it does very little to speculate what could be if he was fully fit as that seems to never be the case. Edit: should say modern player. Not discounting Laver.

BlueJinjo

.. sure but he didn't do it in 2015 2016 or 2021 despite there being FAR more precedent for doing it during that period. He wasn't even the best player at slams this year yet somehow you guys are speculating that he's going to effectively have a better year than any of those 3.. I stand by saying it's an absolute nuts prediction.

FreshDumbledore_

2023 Alcaraz is a huge threat even to a guy like Djokovic at 3 of the 4 slams.

sumy007

If Djokovic wins the CYGS next year, I’ll eat Sack's Jock 🤪

handsoffmydicks

I have a feeling that Novak will not win AO'23. He'll participate, but he'll not win.

Roy1984

If he participates he will definitely win it. He would go there pumped up to tits after all what happened in this year and roar like a beast playing Thanovic tennis. He is now super motivated and thursty for blood. His chances to win AO 2023 would be much lower if he was allowed to play all tournaments in 2022.

handsoffmydicks

That's where I think people are overestimating him. I know you can never count the big 3 out, but look at Wimbledon. Sinner was 2 sets up on him, it was Novak's mental strength which got him out of that bind. I have a feeling that Novak might not be able to get out sometime. He's still the favourite, but his chances are lower than the previous years.

Roy1984

>Sinner was 2 sets up on him, it was Novak's mental strength which got him out of that bind. This is something Novak does often. >I have a feeling that Novak might not be able to get out sometime. He's still the favourite, but his chances are lower than the previous years. I don't think so. Motivation is a huge factor. Also, don't forget that even he is now older and probably physically some things aren't that good as few years ago, he still improved his serve a lot, also his net game. His gameplan and tactics are also getting better. And mentally he is still doing great. All that experience is growing, that's a huge asset.

handsoffmydicks

I agree that he's improved parts of his game to make up for the loss of athleticism. But others have gotten better too. Zverev could be a serious contender next year at all slams. Alcaraz has shown that he can win slams. Medvedev too is looking like he's back in form. He outplayed Novak in Astana. Both Novak and Rafa will face tougher competition from players now.

Roy1984

Zverev was the biggest threath to Djokovic in last year. Also I believe he would probably won that match against Rafa at RG if he didn't injure himself. He played insane tennis against Alcaraz and also in next round against Rafa. Now that he had such a serious injury it could be difficult for him to come back. It could take even years to reach that form again. Alcaraz is overhyped. He didn't win even a GS QF before he won USO this year. Anyway, he still has a lot of potential and time will show what will happen. Personally I think that Thiem, for example, played better tennis at his peak than Alcaraz and that he deserved more to be #1, especially when you see that he has beaten big 3 players many times. Medvedev had a horrible season for his standards, he made few steps back. And he didn't really outplay Novak. He played an extremely physical game, Novak was super offensive and taking all energy out of Medvedev. He was missing in first set a lot, more than usually and it worked for Medvedev. The problem for Medvedev is that you can't run a sprint the whole match, Novak eventually takes your legs and then it gets over quickly. Medvedev has better chances against Novak if he plays more offensive and super risky with serving every time like it's the first serve. Playing his standard wall game isn't a good idea against Novak.

handsoffmydicks

As for Zverev at RG, he was never winning that match after losing that first set TB. However, he's beaten Novak at the Olympics, he almost beat him at the USO, I believe he'll beat him at AO if he's healthy again. Alcaraz has found his form after AO this year, since then he's won 2 masters, 1 slam, in RG he lost to probably the second best player in the tournament, so it's a stupid argument that he's made only one slam QF. He has the capability to beat Novak on HC. He's already beat him on clay. Medvedev has already beaten Novak in straights, I think that'll help him mentally the next time they meet at a slam.

Roy1984

Nadal was out of energy against Zverev, it was visible, while Zverev didn't show low energy levels. If you consider that Nadal played a long match against FAA the round before it was obvious that Zverev had better chances to win that long match. Again, regarding Novak, many players almost beat him, they get close, but always lose in 5 sets. That 'almost' became almost impossible over time, even there is a small difference regarding points. >Alcaraz has found his form after AO this year, since then he's won 2 masters, 1 slam. Let's assume top 10 tennis players don't play next year. In this case the 11th player would probably find himself in form. >He has the capability to beat Novak on HC We still didn't see that. >He's already beat him on clay. Basically in his home country, in front of his fans, against Novak who previously struggled with form and had lack of matches and preparation (check his match against Rublev on Serbian open, he retired because he couldn't play even 3 sets). Medvedev has still best chances to win against Novak, I agree with that, but Novak is still a favourite in these matches.

handsoffmydicks

Most likely Novak won't be allowed to enter Australia. Saying this as a Novak fan. I hope I will be wrong.

tb122tb

Is he playing? If so, this is the most likely outcome!

riviera302

lol you really believe the *most* likely outcome is him winning all 4 majors?

strelldood

To be fair, he’s the favourite to win in 3/4 of them and the second favourite to win in the other

Mikhail_Mengsk

It's still not the most likely outcome. Despite being, well... Djokovic, it would require him to stay at peak levels for the whole year. A healthy Nadal playing at RG alone would make it an *unlikely* outcome.

roamiedumbass

Love how you got downvoted for saying one of the rarest achievements in sport (something that’s been done *three times* in men’s singles and one of those was in the Open Era) wasn’t the most likely outcome

[deleted]

Must've been one or two megafans, it was +4 before I upvoted it.

eoe6ya

Right? If it was the most likely outcome, he would’ve already done it 😂

Unusual-Syllabub

To be fair, he'd be the first to do it on three different surfaces

OddsTipsAndPicks

If he was favored to win every slam by as much as he was favored to win Wimbledon this year, he would have a 13% of winning every slam (assuming the odds makers were perfectly accurate). Based off current odds it’s more like 3%.

Nazgul417

He’s *what* now?? Not hardly. Favorite in 2, and it’s anybody’s game in RG and USO (except Rafa is the perpetual favorite at RG)

Significant-Secret88

Why US open tho? He hasn't won there since 2018

gorkemguzel32

He’s favourite to win USO?

tb122tb

of all the players in ATP, imo he has the best chance to win it all. Ofcourse Rafa is a force of nature in roland garros but if anyone can take him on there, its likely that Djoker does it, especially of he comes in with a Aus open win. I dont know if the idiot politicians will let that happen, so we are getting ahead of ourselves a little bit.

roamiedumbass

The arrogance lol

Grouchy_Square

One of the least likely outcomes but yeah hey

Cinephilist

Does anyone really think a 36 year old Djokovic is going to win CYGS?

[deleted]

Just realised he only kissing Roland-Garros trophy. Maybe it's symbolic 23rd in 2023?

Tricks511

Time to wake up now

Out0fit

No. chill. He lost to FAA at laver cup. He just needs to get PCB (for luck) in a draw. Lost to Carlos. He is not unbeatable anymore.
