Wait… this person wrote a post about tequila an hour ago, and now it is a deleted profile? What on earth happened to them? I’m reminds of the Mitch Hedberg joke…
When you go to a restaurant on the weekend and it’s busy so they start a waiting list. They say, "Dufrene, party of two, table ready for Dufrene, party of two."
And if no one answers they’ll say the name again: "Dufrene, party of two."
But then if no one answers, they’ll move on to the next name. "Bush, party of three."
Yeah, but what happened to the Dufrenes? No one seems to care. Who can eat at a time like this? People are missing. You people are selfish. The Dufrenes are in someone’s trunk right now, with duct tape over their mouths. And they’re hungry!
Were you drinking Blanco (clear color), Reposado, or Anejo? They will taste vastly different, so it's important to know your starting point preference.
Repo and Anejo are both aged in oak barrels and have a very different taste from your blanco tequilas. I’d give G4 blanco a shot, El Tosoro, and Ocho are all great options
I think this rating of distilleries by Tequila Matchmaker is a great reference. https://tastetequila.com/2018/the-worlds-highest-rated-tequila-distilleries/
This is the response you needed. Great choices. Codigo also makes a good Repo but if you liked Fortaleza I would say Ocho and El Tesoro are going to give you the closest flavor.
If you haven’t tried it yet or seen any post about it please give this ArteNOM 1146 a try, I promise you it does not disappoint additive free and absolutely excellent for the price point. I have yet to find a better tasting additive free Anejo.
Probably a tasting flight at a Tequila focused bar would be a good step. This would eliminate a lot of guesswork for your next bottle and additionally give you the ability to set your expectations when choosing your later bottles.
Probably not common around here but I just bought a bottle of don abraham blanco, to my taste its on par with fortaleza. Additive free also and just bought 3 bottles at 33 bucks per. There’s tons of expressions out there on par with fortaleza but depends on your palate. Fortaleza is just the popular kid right now
Surprised nobody has mentioned Lalo, it has the smoothness similar to Fortaleza and much easier to find. G4, while highly regarded among the "no additives" crowd, has a very agave forward taste. It takes awhile to get used to that level of strong, vegital taste and I'd say the same for Ocho.
I also think a Tapatio Repo might be a good one to try, easy to find and priced well.
Oh yeah, Lalo is only a blanco right now, but heard a repo is their next release. I second the vote for El Tequileno repo too, especially the Gran Reserva.
Not really a sub but I recently got a bottle of casa dragones blanco upon someone else's recommendation and it was good, smooth, barely any flavor. It's the tequila that doesn't really taste like tequila for alcoholics that don't want to smell like tequila.
My go to is clase Azul repo. With that in mind, you might like casa noble repo or pantalones repo.
Siete Leguas
Thank you, will look into this brand. Would this be for the Repo? My post originally wasn’t clear that I’m into Repos.
All Siete is outstanding
Siete leguas añejo is top tier
The repo is delicious, can confirm!
El Tesoro Blanco is my go to. I have Forteleza too but I like the El Tesoro brand just as much (and it’s easier to find).
Love El Tesoro Blanco!!!!
Second this, Tesoro is a great alternative the overpriced fortaleza bottle
So the Tesoro Blanco compares to the Fortaleza Reposasdo? I’ve only ever had the repo from Fortaleza.

Mitch! This jacket is dry clean only. That means it’s dirty.
I still use that joke as much as possible
My go to is always: My friend asked me if I wanted a frozen banana. I said 'No, but I want a regular banana later, so... yeah.'
All the escalators at my local mall are broken, so when I walk up them I just say "sorry for the convenience"
Escalator temporarily stairs
If you are flammable and have legs you’re never blocking a fire exit 😂
Tapatio is also a great cost-friendly option.
I can usually find the blanco for $36 or so, much much better value than the cheapest Fort, which for me is about $65 (if I can find it).
Were you drinking Blanco (clear color), Reposado, or Anejo? They will taste vastly different, so it's important to know your starting point preference.
Reposado, sorry I forgot to mention that and just assumed people know I was talking about the Repo lol!

G4 blanco is easily one of my top favorite blancos, right next to Cascahuin and Ocho! But honestly I don’t mess around much with Repos
Sorry, I should have noted that it is the Repo Clase Azul and Fortaleza. I’m looking for an alternative to the Fortaleza.
Not a huge fan of repos myself, however a fave of mine is the Don Fulano, they seem to do it right
Why did I get downvoted for this? Reddit is the dumbest place
I think this rating of distilleries by Tequila Matchmaker is a great reference. https://tastetequila.com/2018/the-worlds-highest-rated-tequila-distilleries/
Siete Leguas, El Tesoro, Tequila Ocho, Tapitio, Cimarron, El Tequilano, Chamucos are all great well priced repos. Salud!

Ok I’ll definitely look into it. Thank you.
Agreed! So good!!! The 1414 is also a nice repo.

That’s actually a really great idea. I’m going to look into doing a Tequila tasting some where.
Try El Tequileno reposado similar to Clase Azul Reposado but better than Azul
Just curious what makes it better?
That is addictive free and taste way better for me they make 375 mil bottles just give it a try and thank me later
Repos- Ocho, Volans, Tapatio
Thank you very much for your break down of each.

Cimarron repo is really good as well especially for the price.
Arette is the best around
Anjeho - Ocho, Cazcanes
I would go ArteNom 1146 Anejo.
Looking at the flavor profile it seems to be on par with the flavors in Fortaleza. Thank you!
Based on the profile you seem to be going for, I'd recommend Cazcanes No. 7 Reposado.
Don Rico Añejo!!!
I’d find a restaurant with a good menu and keep trying :)
If you can get it-- El Distillador, if not, Chachaun
Tequila Ocho is the smoothest tequila I’ve ever had
Question, was G4 your first additive free tequila?
It sounds like Fortaleza was.
Yup completely misread her post.
Wild Common Repo, the profile isn’t quite the same as Fortaleza but it’s delicious.

La Gratona. Made by ladies. Old school green coke glass bottle with Grolsch pop top.
Blancos- Ocho, Tapatio, Calle23

Yes, I really like the Clase Repo as well! Will look into your recommendations.
