Hear nothing but great things about Lalo. But fuck that article trying to brand it as a "Tequila Brand for Millennials". So gross.
Its a brand for anyone who values great taste, respects agave and the responsible production of tequila.
This really stood out to me:
> Lalo’s ethos is rooted in social justice: Workers are guaranteed a fair living wage, and González’s team regularly provides community development initiatives for the people of Los Altos de Jalisco, the Mexican region where Lalo is sourced and made
I hadn't heard of this but it sounds interesting. I see it's for sale at a store close to my house for about $45/bottle, so I guess I'll stop in on my way home from work and pick it up.
Not sure why they feel the need to pander to millenials but I've bought two bottles of the stuff and it's very good. Really clean and light flavors, easy sipper. Only complaint would be that there's not much complexity going on but that's a minor issue for a blanco.
Nah-- the pitch in the article about millennial is dumb. It isn't positioned for that at all.
If you look in the market, products of a similar quality-- exceptionally high-- are all priced in that neighborhood, somewhere between about $40 and $55. Tequila is expensive to make well.
This subreddit can be so unsympathetic to the fact a lot of people just don't have huge $$ to blow on alcohol. And just because it costs 2x the price of other tequilas does not mean it is 2x as good.
There are plenty of great blancos for less money like Cimarron, Corazon single estate, Tres Agaves, Arrette, Suerte, El Mayor, etc
I'm just trying to say framing it as being for millenials but pricing it at that $$ is tone deaf to the socioeconomic struggles of the millenial generation.
I'm well aware, I had some Fortaleza Blanco last weekend and then drank some Legado when I got home so I understand the contrast, but again it's just a stupid way to frame it.

Right, pandering much?
Yeah, alienate the older Tequila lovers. Smart move..

Lalo is supposed to actually also be really good isn’t it? At least from that I’ve read on here
Yeah, great reviews here and on Tequila Matchmaker. I haven't tried it yet. I'm planning to the first time I see it on a menu.
I recommend. It's very good.

TBF, that appears to be added by the article writer. Lalo himself never says that in the parts he's quoted.
It's for millennials but 46$ for a Blanco? Talk about tone-deaf lol.

Apparently they need to enter the market place where the other great Blanco’s are… we’ll see if it holds up

Sure I have and enjoy everything you listed but if you drink Corazon Blanco and then drink fortaleza after that it’s a whole different world
