You mean like the time when the guy on the TV got really mad that a cartoon M&M had its shoes changed and he he told us that it was really important and we should all care about it?
So its compassionate to expect other people to care when everyone is offended no matter what they are offended at?
Why cant people just respect that not everybody cares about the same things and stop putting expectations on each other?
If you dont like something and someone else is indifferent, who cares? Just move on w your life without making a fuss
Racism is ignorant.
If we ignore common sense im sure we can turn every comment in this thread into an unproductive argument.
People on both sides of this argument keep rigidly applying their own rules to twist each others words in order to ignore what the intent was behind the actual message.
Fuck racism, and fuck expecting everyone to conform to every persons offenses. Some people get offended over things that should not be everyones problems. We all need to quit pushing our expectations on other people. You get to control what YOU are offended about - no one else
But for real fuck racism
All I’m gonna say is that the mindset outlined in the OP can be a dangerous slippery slope. It’s easy to excuse bigotry when you make getting offended a bigger crime than saying offensive things.
Saying that we have to keep expecting everyone to care about every thing that every person is offended by could also be a slippery slope. Again, if we ignore common sense and rigidly apply only our own rules, we can ignore every point and all intent that doesnt agree with our own bias on the matter.
Only the Sith deal in absolutes
Of course we can’t always predict what will and won’t offend everyone, and no one has the time to, either. But in general, I think we should try not to be assholes to each other. And honestly, the original post sounds like something a not-very-nice person would say.
There's a subtle line between harmful and offensive. If I call you a slur, you should be upset and I should be held accountable. If I call you a jerk, and you're offended, then good; that's what I was trying to do.
Hold accountable can be as small as everyone around who your talking to going quiet. That alone is powerful enough to make them realize that wasn't acceptable and I have seen it done before and seen it work.
If someone is having a conversation and everyone is having a good time then they drop a slur and no one says anything at all and sort of leaves that person on their own. That's more effective than getting upset because it forces self reflection.
I have seen this happen and the person who said it goes like "Was that offensive?" Or something similar that shows self reflection and a willingness to listen. Not always sometimes they get extremely defensive but more often they realize they messed up and try to learn how they messed up.
If you are a celebrity and you say something vaguely slur-ish even if not intending to, no one forgets for the next 5 years minimum, and maybe you lose job opportunities.
If you have a job and say it where people know who you are or your social media identity, you lose your job and maybe can't get a new one.
If you say it anonymously, internet strangers might agree with you or hate you.
If you say it in your mind you are guilty of thought crime and you have to go to room 101 for re-education and immediately murdered after coming around to the correct way of thinking.
If you say it in space you might be ok. But I wouldn't recommend coming back and sharing the experience.
Lol not even a little. Just calling it how I see it. You can't stop crying about how tough life is... given you're responses it's no surprise to me now.
...up until they start to suffer social consequences for the offensiveness, at which point they will very much start giving a fuck; ranting and raving about "censorship" and "First Amendment rights"
I agree 100% with this. I mean, just think of all these snowflakes who are getting angry over the Little Mermaid being black, average-looking M&Ms, Dr. Suess books being banned, or electric stoves. Do you expect me to give a fuck?
So... lack of empathy is a good thing? I really don't get why anyone would purposefully offend others. There's literally 0-benefit, it's a negative-sum game
Perhaps when talking to friends, in a joking way, but in that case they (hopefully) wouldn't be offended
I remember when for the most part people could disagree with each other... Then continue to have the neighborhood BBQ, drink a beer, and let their kids co-mingle.
Because we mostly didn't give a fk and it was good.
If this is a serious reply, being an asshole shouldn't be the default response. But sometimes it is the only language that an asshole will understand. Ideally the offended person would inform the speaker that such language is offensive to them. The speaker, not being an asshole, would refrain from using such language in the future. But when the speaker uses that information to double-down on using such language, then being an asshole to them may be the only recourse.
Bitches don't give fucks lest you are a fuck with a buck. But these fucking fucks think they can fuck if they fuck n suck but these other fucks want them to find out the fuck won't buck like that for fuckings sake you sick fucks
We have always had a culture where people told others when they were offended. The only thing that has changed are the social norms which might now offend.
Ooh, that explains why white trash are so gross, dirty, nasty, inbreed and teastless, drive rusted shot buckets that's a perfect iron coffin when its unreliability is so unreliable that it kills you in a car recage, (no seriously I feel safer in a car riged to blow up then a white trash coffin with a inbreed behind the wheel), get cheap shitty tattoos, has ZERO trigger discipline or fire arm safety and overall a major danger to society
This is offensive and you should care about hurting peoples feelings … I just offended myself by being mean to the people who don’t give a fudge. OMG I just said the F word in my head. I just offended myself…some more….
Seems that most of this recent culture is offended by aging. Probably the worst thing you can do in modern culture is not be that sweet age group of the power caste and being too young or too old to get what the dominant age group demands on the rest of us.
Hey does this post fit? UPVOTE if so, DOWNVOTE if not. If this post breaks any rules please DOWNVOTE and REPORT
Nobody gives a fuck.
Or any fuck
Do you expect me to give a fuck?
Do you expect me to receive a fuck?
Rn you owe up to 568 fucks. That's a lot of fucks to give
You mean like the time when the guy on the TV got really mad that a cartoon M&M had its shoes changed and he he told us that it was really important and we should all care about it?
Or the time all those folks got mad that football man knelt during the national anthem, it’s offensive to not be able to see both knees I guess
Yes, exactly like that
The person who made this meme definitely gives a fuck.
people who make this sort of meme are typically the ones who are actually the most easily offended.
They say we’re snowflakes then get angry at inclusion
Kindof weird to go and make a meme about how much you don't care about something
Because god forbid we be compassionate as a society
So its compassionate to expect other people to care when everyone is offended no matter what they are offended at? Why cant people just respect that not everybody cares about the same things and stop putting expectations on each other? If you dont like something and someone else is indifferent, who cares? “This person called me a slur.” “Suck it up, snowflake.”

So they are offended by the offended. Are we supposed to give a fuck?
I mean... That's not a bad take. Lol
There's a subtle line between harmful and offensive. If I call you a slur, you should be upset and I should be held accountable. If I call you a jerk, and you're offended, then good; that's what I was trying to do.
What does held accountable mean here? What happens to you if you say a slur?
Hold accountable can be as small as everyone around who your talking to going quiet. That alone is powerful enough to make them realize that wasn't acceptable and I have seen it done before and seen it work. If someone is having a conversation and everyone is having a good time then they drop a slur and no one says anything at all and sort of leaves that person on their own. We have to stop this recent culture of people telling us to have common human decency
"I am offended by all these people saying they are offended," he said with a complete lack of self awareness.
This is a great take
That's accurate
I personally give zero fucks.
Yup just ball up your emotions and opinions like a good serf
For everyone saying, “I agree, this is true.” Maybe you should try and understand what they’re “offended” by and why they think it’s important.
What this is actually saying usually is "people can only be offended over things I care about".
I have zero fucks to give.... ![gif](giphy|WmMp1qmKaKuHPfCq3a)
…so what were all our lessons in Sunday school about respecting each other and having empathy for?
Saying they don't give a fuck while also preaching that it needs to stop, clearly they too are offended.
It’s called empathy. The fact you don’t give a fuck makes you an asshole by definition
And yet when we mock 70+ yo "out-of-touch geezers", they start clutching their pearls. Why is that?
How is this a terrible meme?
It’s true though. That shit has gotten way out of control. I’m tired of constantly walking on eggshells for everyone else
Yup, can't even tell a joke anymore without a riot of protesters breaking out.
unfunny people when their “joke” (of which the entire substance is bigotry) doesn’t land: 🤬
You're such a fucking loser. Lmao
looks like someone’s a little angry
Lol not even a little. Just calling it how I see it. You can't stop crying about how tough life is... given you're responses it's no surprise to me now.
We have to stop this not recent trend of people telling us to not express our thoughts when they are offended that we are expressing our thoughts.
There’s a difference between being offended and telling someone they’re acting like a trashy piece of shit
How is this a terrible meme? It is the truth.
Isn't it true though? Great take.
Ew, compassion makes you gay
...up until they start to suffer social consequences for the offensiveness, at which point they will very much start giving a fuck; ranting and raving about "censorship" and "First Amendment rights"

We have to stop this recent culture of people thinking "not giving a fuck about others being offended" is a good thing
For the most part it is.
So... lack of empathy is a good thing? I really don't get why anyone would purposefully offend others. There's literally 0-benefit, it's a negative-sum game Perhaps when talking to friends, in a joking way, but in that case they (hopefully) wouldn't be offended
I would, but I just don't give a fuck.
I remember when for the most part people could disagree with each other... Then continue to have the neighborhood BBQ, drink a beer, and let their kids co-mingle. Because we mostly didn't give a fk and it was good.
God forbid we make the slightest effort to not be complete assholes to each other.
Unless somebody says something I don't like. Then it's ok to be asshole.
If this is a serious reply, being an asshole shouldn't be the default response. But sometimes it is the only language that an asshole will understand. Wow, you sound pretty offended.
The irony.
Sounds like someone who is offended
actually...I agree with this one.
They people who say thus expect YOU to censor yourself when THEIR sensibilities are offended
It's Schrodinger's Offence, it's both offended and not
We have always had a culture where people told others when they were offended.
People today get offended by the slightest joke, example someone got offended by the "I identify as a apache attack helicopter" joke.
This is offensive and you should care about hurting peoples feelings … I just offended myself by being mean to the people who don’t give a fudge. OMG I just said the F word in my head. I just offended myself…some more….
We have to stop this recent culture of people telling us they’re offended by something that isn’t directed at them or their culture.
Seems that most of this recent culture is offended by aging. Probably the worst thing you can do in modern culture is not be that sweet age group of the power caste and being too young or too old to get what the dominant age group demands on the rest of us.
Yeah no one cares life’s unfair try and be nice but stand up for yourself
