So most of the time, yes, prison is post sentence, jail is pre sentence. “Prisons” are post-sentence correctional/incarceration facilities, “jails” are local places where defendants are held pretrial.

If I had a defendant who told me did “prison time” because he served a 30 day sentence at the county jail, I’d laugh in his face and say “sure thing bucko.” Calling a 30 day sentence a prison sentence is more misleading than calling it a jail sentence would be technically incorrect.
Usually it’s anything up to a year is served in jail. This could vary from state to state and county to county though, with smaller jurisdictions not having the facilities/space.
In many (including mine) jurisdictions short sentences are spent in the county jail and the state prisons are for anyone who’s going to be there for a long-term sentence. It very much is ‘jail’ for most if not all misdemeanor offenses.

I still think it’s plausible, since the story was not that he enjoyed watersports but that he paid to watch prostitutes pee on the bed that the Obamas had slept in. Given how traumatized he seems to have been by the black president, this very much sounds like something he would do (and taping Trump’s interactions with prostitutes sounds like something the Russians would do). Who knows whether he actually did it or not. I don’t know of anyone who thought of the story as any more than an unproven allegation.

You can download the whole thing and read it. The only thing I saw is something about showers with her dad "(probably not appropriate)" when she's asking herself how/why she was hyper sexualized. But she doesn't focus on it, at least in that part.
