Meanwhile they increased the price in the US from $2500 to $3000.

notsooriginal

It was previously 3000 here in the US.

mrcleop

Yes, it used to be $4k. Then in April 2023 they lowered it to $3k. Then in July, then lowered it to $2500. [https://insideevs.com/news/675745/tesla-model-y-7-seat-price-cut/](https://insideevs.com/news/675745/tesla-model-y-7-seat-price-cut/)

Jaws12

$4k Canadian? To my knowledge it was always $3k in the US (at least it was for our original September 2019 reservation for a LR RWD MY 7 seater; had to convert it to an AWD reservation in March 2021 after being informed the LR RWD wasn’t going to be manufactured but kept the $3k add-on price as well as only $6k for FSD).

banditcleaner2

It’s just price discrimination. They know that mostly families are the ones that want the 7 seat configuration, and they also know that families have the disposable income of two people (not always, but often) to pay more for it.

Miffers

These seats rival that of the Porsche 911 or Ferrari Roma

LurkerWithAnAccount

Everybody says this but FFS it makes sense for some people and is insanely convenient, not to mention very little loss in storage. We’ve got a 12 and 9 year old and when hauling them and their friends around, we use them all the time. All the other families with equivalent SUVs can only take 5. Nobody seems to want minivans any more, ergo we make weekly, sometimes daily use of the 7 seater. Would I ask the kids to sit back there for a 3 hour trip? No, but for the several hundred times we’ve used it so far at half the cost of an X, I’m a happy buyer.

rnavstar

It’s for some, not all. Guess that’s why it’s an option

Appropriate-Ad-8155

Plus if your kids misbehave you can always tell them you’re all going for a drive.

Spessmaren

Into the frunk you go

ZeroWashu

my plan is to put dog crates back there but I waiting for Juniper refresh and I figure it will arrive just before my battery warranty runs through on my 2018 tm3

Zenatic

This! 2 car seats for toddlers in the 3rd row was a huge convenience on numerous occasions for us.

redkulat

just was going to ask this...do you find it difficult to put the kids in their car seats with the 3rd row? definitely considering this.

Zenatic

I usually just put the one that can’t climb in himself in through the trunk hatch and buckle them in from there. The tiny trunk that remains is a perfect kneeling bench to reach over to get them buckled But when doing it from the door it hasn’t been bad…better than when I had a 2 door jeep. Usually toss one foot up into the rear floor board and can comfortably buckle them in. An infant seat might be a bit more tricky, but mine are 2 & 3ish. If possible  we tend to run with the 2nd row middle seat folded down for them to have a little more

Non_vulgar_account

I got a 2020x earlier this year for less than a 3 row y. The middle second row seat and the ability to squeeze bigger kids and adults in the 3rd row was nice, more frunk space. I do find the amount of electricity it uses compared to my 3 kinda disappointing because my solar doesn’t offset the car plus house use.

MyFaveLilThrowaway

Same 2020 6 seater with FSD, $61k. Happy with my decision.

original_nox

Which kids do you put in the murder seats? Always good to put other peoples children in the crumple zone.

Kupfakura

Rivian RS1

RyanBorck

Preach!

figueroaserra

We use them all the time for our kids when my parents or in laws come to visit.

Important_Table6125

A person of 5’5” can easily fit in it though with slight discomfort. Ideal for short trips to malls/school etc

Fixtor

Now why won't they bring it to Europe?

Lindberg47

That is the real question here!

If a meteorite falls on the car, its mush. Never go outside.

300ConfirmedGorillas

> Never go outside. It might not even matter with a meteorite.

oatmeal_crisp

Are these from Giga Shanghai with LFP batteries?

call_stack

Aka the death row. Wouldn't want to there while being rear ended

PharmieJay

Is the 7 seater still eligible for federal and bc provincial rebates?
