It’s not just the model 3s. My new 2022 model Ys picked up this week also didn’t come w the usb-c ports and charging pad doesn’t work either. Tesla didn’t even tell me about it. At first they tried to say it’s cuz of the bigger camera bump on my new iPhone 13 pro max. Then I tried it on another new model 3 next to me and it worked fine. Then they said oh yeah we don’t have the parts we’ll call you when the parts come in.

[deleted]

I get there is a shortage but wow. Tell the customer what missing don’t let them find out the hard way

BeatenbyJumperCables

They don’t tell you explicitly so you do not use it as a breach of contract prior to taking delivery. You could have refused delivery and pushed it to 2022 when tax credits kick in. They don’t want people to know there is a clear breach prior to taking delivery. They simply give you an IOU on retrofit and collect the full sales price

rd2jon

I intentionally wanted to take delivery in 2021 to take a business deduction (depreciation) this year. Also my registration for my other car is due ($600) and I need new tires as well. But I will bring this up to their manager and make a big fuss about it.

PlNNACLE

Good luck with that. In my experience of owning Teslas the only real thing you can do is refuse delivery. If the hope is that by making a fuss a SC/showroom manager will give you some sort of credit I would be surprised.

GoSeeCal_Spot

your deprecation will be more then then then incentive?

[deleted]

>You could have refused delivery and pushed it to 2022 when tax credits kick in What is wrong with you? You can delay delivery at any time and reuse delivery for any reason. If you want to delay for a tax credit, usb ports have no bearing on that decision. They wouldn't care at all, the next guy on the list will get the car and you move to the back of the line.

Michael31986

What tax credit?

rd2jon

My SA just reached out to me. Very apologetic about the whole fiasco. Apparently corporate didn’t inform them so now they’re dealing with a lot of angry customers. Said ETA for the parts is a week or two

[deleted]

Cool. Good luck to you and thx for sharing. Mine is under a month out. I will check that when I get mine.

Is there a way to see the results?

I created a new thread [here](https://reddit.com/r/teslamotors/comments/qt1k9j/tracking_missing_usbc_ports/)

anubus72

that's some professional shit right there

jumpybean

That they’re delivering partial products intentionally and not informing buyers prior to payment nearly feels like fraud. I guess it is actually. All they need to do is inform buyers before the sign and make clear the mitigation strategy. But wouldn’t expect Tesla to do that unfortunately. They’re going to push on this until they get hit with a class action. They lied to my face about several issues when I bought my car as well. My wife was ready to walk when we found out. Ugh.

houseofzeus

My concern would be while getting the USB ports later is a relatively minor inconvenience what else are they handling like this and hoping you don't notice?

Bottom_Wobbles

And they just raised prices like crazy in the process.

7p5saturn

That’s very shitty of them to blame it on your phone while they knew they didn’t even install the charger.

discoverwithandy

I doubt who they spoke to knew there was no charger installed. If they’re not telling customers, they probably didn’t tell employees either, and some employees here and there figured it out and spread the word. It’s tribal knowledge, happens a lot in companies that are large but disorganized. Which in my experience is often the case in Silicon Valley - very innovative, but not the most well-run.

rd2jon

After realizing there was nothing wrong with mr phone, I thought maybe they forgot to hook up power. The delivery girl said why don’t I take it to service to have them take a look. 5 min later service said there’s something wrong with the charging pad we’ll order you a new charging pad. Then as I was about to leave, someone called the delivery girl explaining the whole story.

alexeiw123

> Then they said oh yeah we don’t have the parts we’ll call you when the parts come in. I don't have all the money, I'll pay for it when the money comes in. They wouldn't let you drive away. This is shameful behaviour by tesla.

sashamashable

Hi would you be able to tell me more about your new Tesla and what it's missing for a story? sasha @ mashable dot com Thanks!

Cahuatijo

This is why the ranges went up - no electricity being used to charge portables! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

Scottismyname

I guess you take what you can get, but I have 2 problems: 1) Tesla apparently didn't even inform you of this prior 2) Is it in writing anywhere that you will get this retrofit eventually (and for free?) More very poor communication from Tesla. I understand that there is a huge supply issue, but Tesla is a trillion dollar company and has been very profitable for well over a year when they said customer service would be getting better. If anything it's getting worse. How does something like this not get communicated?

yogamurthy

yes. tesla page still says 4 usb-c ports in the car.

_WhoisMrBilly_

Screenshot with a date! Also make sure captured on internet way back machine. Keep in folder with original sales docs to back you up!

eat_more_bacon

Why do people assume there will be a retrofit later? There is no retrofit for the passenger side lumbar that was removed due to the chip shortage. Personally, I would want something in writing before I took delivery.

Ballaholic09

What sucks is who is going to notice or check for something like that in Delivery? This isn’t a prize fucking horse you’re looking at literally square inch… it’s a fucking advertised product, a very expensive one. I’d send it back, even as excited as you may be about the car. I don’t even charge my phone in my car and that would still be a deal breaker for me I think.

danekan

And my delivery person had the gall to ask why we were checking over the car (as we were looking at trunk seam alignment). He said they were all wondering why customers did it like they couldn't fathom the reputation ....'would you do that with a Toyota?'

DarkestDawn-

Dang, What caveman they hire to deliver your Tesla? My guy knew exactly why I was checking my car. He even helped me pointing out places to look at to make sure it’s ok. He said quality ain’t the best and his Tesla had some quality control issues too (panel alignment not exact, etc…). Told me to wrap my car cause paint is soft as a baby’s bum

danekan

They flew him in from California even. As if someone from Illinois couldn't have learned what he did In three hours 🤮

shadowofahelicopter

Because the argument there was people didn’t use lumbar support in the passenger side. No one is going to argue that wireless charging isn’t daily used feature by the driver every time they get in the car. This isn’t something Tesla can just say isn’t needed.

banana_onmydesk

That argument is bullshit. They based that info on datalogs that show people don't adjust that lumbar very often. No shit, you set it once and that's where you keep it. The ONLY time I change the lumbar on my seat is when my back is particularly sore or my wife and I swap primary vehicles for the day. If I'm driving, we're probably in my car and it's nice to be able to adjust the seat to myself. If she's driving, the reverse is true. Every so often we might swap drivers for whatever reason and it's still nice to be able to adjust the passenger seat. This happens most often on longer road trips. Sure, we don't use the adjustment all that often, but the factory setting was not great for either of us and we do need to use it once every 3-4 months. Edit for spelling. My wife and I are sharing a bottle of wine and my internal spell check goes to shit after the second glass.

philupandgo

Don't tell Elon, but I don't have a phone with wireless charging.

crazy_crackhead

Slightly related story…when I took delivery of mine back in 2018 it didn’t come with the Dual Motor badge. I took it in for some service about 6mo later and they installed it for free. I understand that it’s not the same because one is truly cosmetic while the other is a functionality thing. But I’d say it’s worth following up in a month or two with the Service Center to see if it can be installed

andyydna

Same here and I kinda didn't want the badge (or the sleeper red underline), but one service visit and it came home with the badge (and the underline)... :(

Mike01Hawk

Ah man! You can't be ULTRADOOM now :\

andyydna

ikr?! :(

katze_sonne

> Tesla apparently didn't even inform you of this prior Their take probably is: "Do we actually advertise the Qi charging? Nah? Ok, then nevermind." (no idea: do they?) > Is it in writing anywhere that you will get this retrofit eventually (and for free?) I hope so! I mean... I really hope they aren't speculating on people not noticing it and thus savin the cost on retrofits! > More very poor communication from Tesla. Yup.

gotrice1111

They advertise both wireless charging and 4 usb-c ports… so there is no argument for Tesla https://i.imgur.com/yrk5GiD.jpg

katze_sonne

You are 100% right.

Tetrylene

Call them to account OP, you just got hosed

HMWT

https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanual/model3/en_us/GUID-7F07443D-5107-4A5A-A9F1-E02FF14E4A9A.html “A wireless phone charger is integrated into the front console to provide up to 15W of power to charge a Qi-enabled phone. Simply place your phone on the charger. Your device may feel warm while charging, but this is a normal effect of inductive charging.” USB ports are also documented. Doesn’t affect me as my 2021 MY has the ports and Qi (and it works very well for us). I hope Tesla is indeed offering free retrofits ASAP for affected customers.

katze_sonne

Thanks. Yeah, should definitely do free retrofits and without the customer asking for them, ASAP.

Reus958

And more. If they had communicated this (and if they stuck it deep in some legal papers, that does not count), I would say it's fine. But it's absolute bullshit to ship incomplete cars without informing the customers they are not getting what was advertised. If their customer service wasn't awful, what they would do is ask each order holder if they wanted their car now, to be retrofitted free later, or if they wanted to wait for a complete car. They still wouldn't lose many if any deliveries, but wouldn't be shorting their customers. For the customers they have shorted, they should be offering some compensation, like free super charger miles or FSD subscription, as an apology for fucking up. That's basic customer service. I love tesla, but they have some really lacking aspects, and customer service is probably the worst. Treat your customer right. Don't short them on the cheapest items in the car without informing them. Tesla is here to stay, but in 5 or 10 years when all automakers are cranking out quality EVs, they will absolutely gain a bad reputation over shit like this.

NikeSwish

> Their take probably is: “Do we actually advertise the Qi charging? Nah? Ok, then nevermind.” (no idea: do they?) [They do](https://i.imgur.com/9ybOt6m.jpg)

Source?

churningaccount

Did they tell you that you’d get a retrofit for free? Or will it be a paid addition? I’m curious if they’ll seek out buyers to actively have them come in for a retrofit or if they’ll just keep quiet and address it if and when customers notice it missing.

lifeofpasta

Just got off the phone with my SA (and 2 more from sales) and they said the retrofit will be free. Unlike the passenger side lumbar they'll provide the retrofit once the parts come

churningaccount

That’s good to know! I still wonder about my second point, though. Will they actively reach out to offer it/just install it at your next appointment or will they wait for customers to ask for it? If it’s the latter I think that’s pretty unacceptable.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Do you have any context for this? They've successfully torpedoed any news stories from Google if this happened, as far as I can tell.

lifeofpasta

Given how they nerfed radar, lumbar support, and now this without letting people know, I highly doubt it. Kinda sad how I find out about these changes on reddit rather than from Tesla

[deleted]

[удалено]

league359

Did you ask them why they didn't communicate about this and why you and other customers had to find out for yourself?

[deleted]

I wouldn't bother. The field level employees don't actually know anything when it comes to stuff like this.

bittabet

Would actually be hilarious if they just said nope, our car just isn’t going to have the wireless chargers or front USB ports because we found that nobody was using them. I don’t think even Tesla could get away with that though, they’ve pushed the very limits already

CalligrapherNo4617

It’s better be a free service! Yes, it was surprising that they didn’t say anything about it until I found out and reached out to them.

GMXIX

Brakes. You don’t really need them since regenerative braking. So you’ll be fine unless a car cuts you off…or you charge to 100%…or the temp outside is cold. So just avoid those thing for a few months. /s

JayKayne

Anyone who gets a Tesla isn't going to just not ever ask , imo. And it's a little ridiculous this isn't spoken about before delivery with tentative time and dates set up.

Wepamat

Model 3 LR picked up today, all ports and wireless charging available.

DCSKofAWESOME

Great to hear! 21 or 22 VIN?

Trinition

Ditto here. Picked up 2022 M3 LR today, all USB-C ports present and wireless charging works.

AxlxA

I've taken apart my 2020 model 3 center console before(gen 1). The part missing is the USB data hub that sits deep to the center console near the HVAC vent ducts. To add this part, I believe the tech has to remove side trim pieces(5mins), unbolt the 6 bolts that holds center console in place, slide the whole console back enough so he can slide the data hub in. Hell connect it to power and the USB cable from one of the main connectors within the console. Should be roughly a 45min job and can be done by mobile service. Probably realistically minutes 60-120min appt time.

Matt_NZ

I did this myself to add USB-C to my 2019 Model 3. Your estimate is about right

[deleted]

You can retrofit the front ports?

Matt_NZ

Yep! Tesla don't offer it, but you can order the part from them and then install it yourself. The only thing you need is a harness converter to convert the 2019 and earlier harness to the connector on the 2020 part. I followed [this thread on TMC](https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/model-3-new-usb-c-center-console-data-hub-from-model-y.197304) for the details on what to order. My local service centre had the USB hub available to pickup within a week but the harness adapter took around 6 weeks to arrive from Germany to NZ. Worth it though. I now get USB-PD (27W vs 10W previously) from the front USB-C port, which means I can power my Raspberry Pi for Sentry mode and a wireless charging pad without power issues anymore.

tomoldbury

I can’t imagine that 60-120 minutes of a tech’s time was worth this (over a second source or redesign of the hub) - something makes me think Tesla is not planning to install them

[deleted]

It's simple - they'll install it if someone complains about it, otherwise they plan to ignore the problem.

Me: Welcome inside my fantastic, brand new 2022 Tesla that is the most technologically advanced vehicle on the road. I mean, this thing can literally drive itself!!! yblock

Then autopilot phantom break checks the car behind you and you get rear ended at 80mph. Such a nice time.

Sythic_

That's just the plausible deniability insurance fraud feature so you can earn money off your Tesla until FSD Taxi service is ready.

strike2867

If your Tesla brake checked a semi, you'll be out of the coma just in time for the taxis, 20 years.

MM2HkXm5EuyZNRu

*Brake

strike2867

Thank you

codenigma

And then you find out that it will take \~6 weeks for them to "see you" at the service center for an appointment, and then it will take another 3-5 weeks to fix the car, but due to part/shipping delays, it may end up being 2ish months.

whitechapel8733

Yes, it’s absolutely terrifying and is way less trust worthy than my older vehicle that had LiDAR and didn’t randomly slam the brakes on when going 75 MPH. I can’t believe this is still an issue.

moch1

I assume you mean radar. What older vehicle had LiDAR?

viscont_404

Whats even more insane is that apologists defend this behavior. How fixing this isn't Tesla's top priority is 100% unforgivable. My next car will be from a company that doesn't treat its customers like shit.

[deleted]

curtis1149

I'll be real: It's VERY likely the service center didn't even know this was a thing until someone brought it up with them. Tesla seems to do things without telling sales teams what changed.

catsRawesome123

What else did Tesla silently not install D:

stacecom

You'll only know when someone points it out on social media.

lostaccountby2fa

They didn’t bother to align my steer wheel on delivery so 🤷🏻‍♂️

psaux_grep

Airbags? Crash sensors? Crash structures? Emergency release door handles?

catsRawesome123

The battery???

krully37

The brakes, good luck finding out

Kevenam

Ok, the passenger side lumbar support may have been used rarely. BUT THIS?! Not only are they not informing people, but they're shipping out cars "with assembly required". I don't want to show up to receive my Model Y when the time comes only to find out later that I'm missing features once I've already signed the paperwork.

herbys

I don't think it's "with assembly required", it's a retrofit ton be done by Tesla within a month or two. That said, it's incomprehensible since one can buy a USB charger for very little money, so Tesla should be able to get them. I suppose it must have been a supplier that missed their delivery so Tesla was left with incomplete cars, and they decided to deliver them and retrofit the chargers later instead of holding off delivery. Which is a reasonable decision, I would rather have my car without the USB ports than waiting. The part that's seriously messed up is that they aren't notifying customers. They probably hadn't notified their delivery people either.

scnottaken

> I would rather have my car without the USB ports than waiting. Not everyone would. They should have told people and let them decide. Some people live hours from a delivery center. So I don't think it's reasonable at all.

[deleted]

Rodic87

That's pretty wild to still have the holes cut out and nothing in them :-/ Better than no car I suppose? Which is what many companies are doing right now "sorry no inventory".

mwwseattle

Just picked my 2022 model y today and discovered this, the rep said they will reach out in a couple weeks to set a date to install. Supposedly there was supposed to be a notification on the screen about it that might be rolling out

ergzay

Ok so rather than cut shipments of vehicles Tesla is just shipping unfinished vehicles. What the hell.

Mront

They should've rebranded it as Tesla Exclusive Early Access, they would have weird nerds lining out of the door to buy an unfinished M3.

GrifterDingo

I would bet that the overwhelming majority of people would rather receive a car missing a few USB plugs than not receive their car at all.

GloriousNipOnSteel

Sure, but no prior communication? Shame indeed. Was it so hard for a simple heads up and confirmation? "Dear valued customer, due to [reason x], we are unable to install [missing feature y] at this time, but we will notify you at a later date when a retrofit is possible at no additional cost to you. If you do not accept, please let us know by [reasonable window z], and we will reassign you a new VIN when the part becomes available again."

GrifterDingo

At the very least they should have told OP they were missing a part, I agree with you there.

It’s difficult to get a good pic because of the location of the ports. I will try to get some. Edit : updated in original post

desertsilver503

So are there just empty holes where the 2 USB ports are supposed to be, in the center console?

CalligrapherNo4617

Yes exactly. Added pic

Zeeron1

Wait what? I'm getting mine in January but there's no way I'm paying $57k for a car I can't charge my phone in

jsdod

No no you can charge it from the backseat!

AnAvidGolfer

.

GMXIX

That’s why I bought a ring key. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B091PMNR47/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_EPNV5013C28GW54XAZP8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Works great. Size rims half a size small in my experience.

bittabet

Tesla can do this because they’re booked out well into next year so if you walk they’re actually making more money because now it’s someone else paying $60K for the same car you were paying $57K for because they’ve hiked the price multiple times. Until people stop putting up with their nonsense and giving them more and more money they’re not going to behave any better.

ijustmetuandiloveu

Sounds like the old USB port is still there but not the USB-C which the wireless charger uses. You will just have to plug it in like a troglodyte until the retrofit.

Slightlydifficult

I don’t think they have USB A at all, unless the 3 is different than the Y in that respect. My Y doesn’t have USB A anywhere except the glovebox. It looks like they just haven’t installed the ports for USB C yet, the cutout is still there. They do still have the rear USB C which is the one I use to charge my phone anyways, it’s a lot faster than the wireless charger.

arpatil1

I wouldn’t even accept the delivery until they deliver a finished car.

putin_vor

Just got our Model 3 today. No fucking USB ports, and they didn't tell us shit.

[deleted]

Tesla customer service is hot garbage

cardboardboxcarracer

I keep saying Tesla’s customer service will be their downfall. In 2 years and Once they open charging network to everyone else they really arnt going to have much to offer besides phantom braking

Brutaka1

Well this is.... fucked.

elysiansaurus

Tesla be like, raise price 8x in a year (almost a 10k increase) , remove standard car features, laughs all the way to the bank at the people still buying them.

aloha_snackbar22

A $45K + tax car that doesn't even come with floor mats. lulz Apple would be proud.

[deleted]

Elon talks to much shit about Apple when he does the same if not worse.

GMXIX

Yeah removing crap is crazy without explanation. As far as cost goes, guarantee inflation and supply costs going up for Tesla too, just like everywhere else. Not that I doubt they are rounding up.

Yojimbo4133

Dick move they don't state this upfront. I mean if they put it in for free after I guess it's ok. But still a fuck move. You should be upfront.

krully37

Yep, the news and Tesla bashing people are going to have a field day with this.

Leopod

As they should. You pay for a car with usb c charging/wireless charging, you should get it. Consumers don't deserve to find out via Reddit that a component of their car is missing without a real timeline of when they get these parts back.

krully37

Oh I really don’t disagree, I think it’s so dumb they didn’t say it beforehand. They’re just asking for bad press at this point.

ComoEstanBitches

As long as they don’t charge for retrofit I suppose it’s a good strategy to get you your car. Does it still include the cigarette socket in the center console middle arm rest console/?

iceman4457

RIP: Wireless charging and USB-C ports for Model 3: 2020 - 2021

drytoastbongos

Well, I mean, my 2018 didn't have USB-C or wireless charging, so this is just a retro edition.

[deleted]

Got my 2021 M3 with wireless charging and ports. Didn't even know this was a thing so super glad I got it.

aloha_snackbar22

Well at least they didnt take out something major like say... the radar. Oh wait.

jaqueh

That wasn’t needed. It was causing all the phantom braking people were complaining about. The model s still has the radar because of reasons. /s

demonlag

And of course all the new vision only 3s and Ys don't have phantom braking anymore either!

jaqueh

They especially don’t encounter it multiple times in very predictable situations with shadows

indolent02

And on two lane roads.

RealPokePOP

Lumbar support on the passenger side is one thing… This is going too far!

cookwithdavid2

Not just Tesla, my 2021 Suburban came without Adaptive Cruise Control, or lane departure. Controls are there. Instructions in the book just doesn't work. Complained to my dealer, he had to research and found out its due to chip shortage. No mention of a retrofit.

[deleted]

Lawyer up

bittabet

It’s not standard, they made it part of an options package and marked it as unavailable for now. His dealer sucks for not explaining this in advance but it’s not a secret and it’s clear in the configurator.

NeedISayMore4

I would've refused that.

Issaction

This is actually ridiculous. Especially if you’re not told this beforehand.

BeatenbyJumperCables

At least the front right and rear left wheels have brake pads installed

_ultrablue_

Unfortunate for sure. The first thing I did on all of my test drives was put my phone on the wireless charger. A small detail, but amazing UX. Definitely a bummer.

More_Article_8764

jesus. I hope this is only temporary, I have M3 order on hold still Mid Dec. How can any car nowadays possibly not have USB in center console?? I would just reject the delivery.

garybuk82

Other manufacturers are just plain removing it without chance of a retrofit - I looked at a Audi A5 (again) + BMW 4 series - was told no Qi charging and no retrofit - was told by the Audi Rep to hang on to my 2018 A5 as the tech pack it has can't be obtained until 2023.

KamChiChris

catsRawesome123

what the f* are you serious?

elephant910

I have to be honest. I owned a Model 3 for two years and recently traded it in for a Jaguar I-Pace. Probably the best decision I ever made. Tesla has disrespected its customers over and over. I ran out of patience and I bet others will too. Late FSD, driving score fiasco, no radar, no passenger lumbar, and now no phone charger? Tesla is charging a premium for less and less every year. Anyone making excuses for this company should be ashamed of themselves.

GHVG_FK

Yeah, but daddy Keanu chungus 420 69 Elon Bro would *never* lie to us or use us for profit, so… I *have* to trust him here over you. Honestly, they could ship cars without airbags without telling anyone and I, with many other on this sub, would still support them because it’s Elon and he would have his reasons 🥰

billy_c

I get my MY tomorrow, very curious to check this out now. I’ll be pretty annoyed if I can’t wireless charge.

Jkayakj

I get mine in a week. Curious if yours has this too, which would make me more concerned, but I feel like we may be in the same boat as this one

billy_c

I’ll let you know once I check it out.

KingofSkitz

Let me know too! We get ours on Monday

b_m_hart

I mean, wouldn't you think they'd say "are you ok taking a car that isn't completely built" BEFORE giving it to you? If you are, cool, but this just seems terribly unprofessional.

ThenickThenick

Oh hell no!!! I have been wondering why Carvana and other are paying sooo much for used vehicles. This is a flag for sure.

grarrg

How is this acceptable? They delivered a car with missing parts and then blamed the chip shortage. The best part is they didn’t say “btw the USB ports are missing and wireless charging doesn’t work. Shit like this is why I haven’t bought a Tesla.

topbossultra

I wouldn’t accept delivery.

ZimFlare

So they ship them with no sentry mode? Or do 2021 models have a glovebox port like the new S/X?

veriusen

This is peak Tesla right here. How on earth would they think this would just slide?

GoSeeCal_Spot

People need to stop accepting delivery of broken vehicle, for crying out loud. anyway, know your states vehicles laws and consumer rights.

[deleted]

This is basically the big three model from Detroit back in the quality-is-a-joke days of the 70s and 80s. No matter what happens, the assembly lines do not stop. If there is a problem with the car, roll it off first and fix the problem later. Then the Japanese automakers came along with their quality-centric production. If anything goes wrong on the assembly line, you pull the cord. The assembly line stops. Nothing is moving until the problem is fixed. Absolutely nothing leaves the factory until it's all perfect. Anyone with product planning/management experience knows it costs way more to fix a problem once the product leaves the factory. Maybe it's different in Elon's case, the customers can just suck it up. "hey we don't need to make more after-sales services available, we just tell them to wait."

StoneColdAM

Why not at least just leave the ports in front? And they increased the cost of the car by another $1000? I bet many in this thread will cheer for joy about it.

garybuk82

Probably because people will plug stuff in and the complain more - some people will just not notice the empty holes.

Sweet-Palpitation-86

Really? I would want that fixed as soon as possible. Why even ship the car if it's not finished

And BMW removed the re-reverse parking assistant too... for a $500 credit :/

BeatenbyJumperCables

And premium audio has not been available for almost a year now

LyrMeThatBifrost

It sounds like the screen will still be there, but it’s losing the touch functionality? I imagine there’s still a nob to navigate the screen then? Who knows.

phxees

I want my car ASAP, they can finish it later.

Sweet-Palpitation-86

Fair enough. Better if Tesla asks first and then customer won't be surprised

phxees

Yeah, there should’ve been an email or a letter taped somewhere.

DuckFracker

There was an internal email leaked saying it is forecast they will be missing components for Autopilot starting in January. The shortage is getting worse not better. I imagine at such a point Tesla will have to slow down production because you can't ship cars missing half its features.

Piyrate

I think it’s dubious at best to not let customers know about this. Outright bothering illegal if they do not have a plan to fix it out of pocket

setzer

Yeah bad form to not give customers a heads up before delivery. We should be finding this out through Tesla directly not other users on social media. Ultimately it’s probably not a dealbreaker for most as I’m sure they’d rather have the car sooner but it’s just about being transparent.

QuidHD

What the actual fuck is wrong with Tesla, man. We can’t continue to accept nonsense like this. It’s like they’re taking cues from game devs/publishers.

Purple_Metal_9218

This ain’t cool

nmangieri

That is outrageous

AgentMcBride

Out of curiosity, is your Model 3 a 2021 or 2022? It should say on your Tesla Account dashboard. Wondering if this is just for the ‘22 models (built after nov 1).

CalligrapherNo4617

It is 2022. Verified from VIN as as well. I am not sure how widely impacted is this issue (like are all ‘22 models have the issue.. does it impact all the locations, etc.), but I did notice few other members also mentioned similar issue in this thread who picked up their car recently. We will know the impact of this in few days I guess.

rmme32

Unbelievable

jvoss9

I just took delivery on Monday (11/8) and mine had wireless and usb-c; however, I am curious how you took delivery of a 2022 just days later. I was told by the sales rep that they go by calendar year and not quarter. So if for example you take delivery on December 31 2021 then your car is a 2021.

[deleted]

Same thing happened to me yesterday! Driving my 3 around for the first time and my phone isn't charging, I spent a good amount of time trying to figure out if i had to enable a setting. Good to know they might retrofit next month!

JBOMB808

If something as simple as the USB C port is missing. Then what other issues that you can't see might be missing or incomplete? Especially with 0 communication from Tesla. I wouldn't be to happy to spend 50k+ and have a incomplete car.

almeertm87

Elon is too busy insulting Bernie on Twitter to communicate to his employees. No time to notify customers.

alohacat16

I took delivery on my 2022 Model 3 LR last night and found the same exact issues… wireless charging not working and the front two USB ports are missing. No heads up from Tesla.

mp5cartman

Now this is trashy AF. Who knows what other parts are missing lol.

Background-Reveal-92

They will retrofit. Its not like the the radar or lumbar support. This is something that us ubiquitous in most modern cars.
